Man, these guys will drag this game out forever. CBS will run every commercial they can. Ijust hope they do not run the one where the AU guy is in the airplane on the lake writing in a diary. That is REAALLY old now.

Has anyone noticed the video they run before the players come out has very few highlights from this season? Quite telling. They do a great job with it and the video for the band, but I find it sad our team has not provided many clips this year.

Prediction: If Tubs is fired before game day, Danielson will say, "I can't believe they fired Coach Tuberville." If Tubs has not been fired by game day, Danielson will say, "I can't believe they would fire Coach Tuberville." Great analysis.

CBS? That's great. Now everyone can see when we shock the world.

We might not have much more than a fool's hope but if we stop the run and punt the ball out of bounds everytime, you never know.

Defensively, Bama's OL scares me more than their actual skill players do and if we can find a way to somehow neutralize that, that should make it competitive. I definitely don't expect much from our our offense against their D, but we've won two of these last six iron bowls scoring seventeen points.

Granted, that would be an offensive explosion for us, but crazier things have happened.

Jay, if you would like I can just tell you what Tuberville will say and save you a trip tomorrow.

We have had our best practice all season and the players seem very excited about what we are doing.

A couple of players are definitely out for the Iron Bowl, unless they play.

We've just got to keep improving.

We need to score more in the red zone.

Mark I was thinking Vegas would have it at around that number also...at least a couple td dogs. I could see it opening at around Auburn +13 but would not be shocked to see it closer to +16.

Let me beat the war drum a bit...

I think that if our offense could move the ball against UGA it can do the same against UA. I think we have a good chance of winning if our DL can get more pressure than they did against UGA.

I recall a post yesterday commenting that CTT was a historically 4 loss coach or something to that effect. I think most would agree that Saban is a pretty good coach, but look at his season records:

Toledo 9-2

MSU 6-5
MSU 6-6
MSU 7-5
MSU 6-6
MSU 9-2

LSU 8-4
LSU 10-3
LSU 8-5
LSU 13-1
LSU 9-3

UA 7-6
UA 11-0

CTT should be our coach next year.

6:24 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I want AU to win as much as the next guy. Heck, I'll take a 3-2 win. It's just sometimes you have face facts that things aren't going your way. You don't lay down or quit, but you know going in it is a struggle and you fight and hope to get a break. It just seems Au has not gotten the breaks this year. I think Michael posted earlier about the cloe games and some go your way and some don't. This year they just haven't.

6:28 PM
Blogger Chris in Inverness said...

I understand and have said the same about Saban and his overall record but I'll say this.....If Tommy Tuberville is willing to let the next OC bring in whomever he wants to coach the positions then, yes, let him stay.

If not, he needs to find somewhere else to be.

He can't coach offense and he should try. Loyalty means a great deal in any part of life but the writing's on the wall.

6:29 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I don't really care what Nicky's ending records are, what I care about is Auburn's record. Which has been pretty good under CTT, but "We've got to get better!" This season has been horrible compared to where my expectations started this season. I thought we would be competitive.

6:29 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

As you know, 90% of winning is 80% mental. We seem to be more challenged mentally than in most years at the coaching level.

6:30 PM
Blogger Chris in Inverness said...

Great - close games - fine......but I'd like to have a time where there AREN'T ANY CLOSE games when AU has a better team.

SEE FLORIDA V. SO CAR!

6:32 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Chris........LOL.......they are "do-able"......if you get a 2 on 1 fast break.

Krewe..yup... AU+13 to +16 is about right.

I'm considering upgrading my PC sound system so I can link to the AU radio b/c, route it through the stereo and avoid the Verne/Danielson droll observations. Of course, then the TV time delay becomes an issue.

6:33 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Why not start by looking at the lack of leadership in recruiting. No matter what you say, it is tough to coach up everyone that is not a highly ranked recruit. Before you get your shorts in a wad, think about this:

UAT has about 11 freshman they are playing and they are not making a lot of freshman mistakes. Jones, Hightower, Ingram have contributed a lot this year. If AU doesn't make the effort to go after these guys, then we are cutting our potential recruit list down and that is never good. Our state has somke very good recruits and it is embarassing to see our team get spanked or even shut out on the top 10 to 15 recruits.

Guys, its not just the season but the talent IMO --- What bothers me about the future is to look out and see a guy like S. Pybus who wasn't good enough to offer before signing day and he's playing on the biggest play of the game against LSU.

Talent wins games....PERIOD and this staff has to get off their a$$ and do the job.

And that goes for the head man and his little "hunting" trips while a contract sits in the AD's office.

6:36 PM
Blogger barkley for governor said...

Aubigcat, you neglected to mention how many more championships Nick Saban has. That matters a little.

If Tuberville stays, I'm obviously going to be supportive. Whoever is making that decision probably knows more about the program than I do. All I was saying yesterday is that he is the definition of mediocrity. I still believe that.

If you were a high school recruit right now, who would you rather play for, Tommy Tuberville or Nick Saban?

6:39 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Chris-You are spot on. AU can't put the hob nail boot on anyone of stature. I have wondered why AU doesn't just stomp the opponent when they are down and put them out of their misery. As you said see Fl Vs SC, how about Fl vs LSU and GA vs LSU. When you have them down, pound'em and make them want to throw in the towel.

Think about FL throwing for a TD, with Tebow in the game, up by 40+, late in the game. Would our current coach do that?

Win, win big or go home.

Chris ...

I'm with you, so that's why I believe we have to be strong for the family and make the change. Understand that as much as we love Tommy, he's not very likely to get it done because he's not recruiting of a position of strength anymore. I want him to, but I just don't see it. It's going to take a new product to sell.

6:41 PM
Blogger Chris in Inverness said...

Well, as far as the state of AL, Bammer's gonna win most of those, not all but most.

We have to hold our spot in Mobile and a call to R. Garner wouldn't hurt, (long shot I know).

But AU's teams has always been made by outworking teams in La, Ga, Ms and FL by watching all the film and getting the 3-4 star guys who should be higher.

R. Torbor, T. Robinson, R. Brown, C. Rogers....etc.

That's where AU builds champions from, those states.

6:43 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

barkley for govenor, mediocrity means average. How many seasons have we won half our games? Also, mediocrity doesn't mean being one of the winningest coaches in school history.

6:45 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

bark makes a great point. Look at how they have chanegd their image in two years. They went from a team that shot themselves in the foot to knocking on the door of the BCS game. They took some chances and they worked out.

Saban is aggressive and knows how to market the team to draw recruits (example playing in ATL this year and next) He is coaching and marketing. I would be pleased to have a person in our group do either of these. Don't get me started on the worthless job Jacobs does for marketing our team.

You know he did get Citadel, Samford and Furman. That will help strength of schedule.

Why acept 3-4 stars? You say AU has built championships on 3-4 stars from other states, but what has that got us the past 10 years. Tubbs got outworked and there is no excuse for it. He decided to accept the 3-4 stars and coach'em up. Well you are not going to ATL consistently that way.

I like Tubbs and think he can coach when the fire is there, but look at his record and tell are the 3 seasons with less than 4 losses the norm or the 7 seasons with 4 or more the norm?

6:49 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Look at barkley's comment and ask yourself if you were playing HS ball and had no allegiance, where would you want to go today? If AU can produce 10 wins every year, year in and year out, they will be in the sweet spot for recruiting, but not having 3-4 losses year in and year out.

6:51 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I spoke with a friend at AU and he says Trott has surgery set for Wednesday in B'ham. Another injury bug. Not that they will miss himthat much, but it just makes you wonder why so many injuries are happening this year.

6:54 PM
Blogger barkley for governor said...

steve from columbia, I don't choose to judge his mediocrity based upon whether he was 5-7 or 8-4. If we play more weak teams than strong ones and we go 6-6, is it still an average season? Not in my opinion. It's below average.

What I'm talking about are those South Florida games....The Arkansas games, the Mississippi State games, the Vanderbilt games. You know, those games we are supposed to win but somehow we find a way to lose. It happens almost every year, I'm not a fan of it.

It's tough to let him go ... because he's likeable ... because of the wins over UAT ... but we should be more ... and it's time.

I am not a fan of losing to Ark, Ms St. or south Fl either. If we would schedule bigger teams and went 9-3, I can take that some of the time. But our schedule is deficient in quality teams. And having Jacobs make it out like no one will play us, insults all of us.

7:06 PM
Blogger AUfan said...

Hate that for T Trott on a personal level, but McKenzie is by far the better game player. It is amazing to hear the practice tales on Trott dropping no balls, and Gabe dropping them left and right. Then in the games it's like they switched jerseys.

Guys/Gals:

I'm by no means an Auburn fan, but I look at it like this...How many times is Tuberville going to be able to save his job by throwing some assistants under the bus?

At some point, his hiring decisions are no longer a way out of a problem situation....they are the problem situation.

7:07 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Did anybody hear Pat Dye on Finebaum tonight?

Short recap....

Kinda hacked him off that it came out that he voted Alabama #3 on his ballot.

Said he could physically whip Saban, but that he thought he was "purty" (WTF?) and a damn good coach.

Was proud of Auburn, and the fans for staying the whole game Saturday.

7:09 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I just feel that the HC needs to be more active and involved with the team. Who thinks Saban would know if Blackmon was working or not going to come back next year if he were our coach? Same goes for Cahz Ramsey?

I just feel like if Tubbs was all about AU football, he would have a better handle on things.

7:09 PM
Blogger Jet said...

It's not like we've gotten it done against the BCS teams

Losses -- USC (2), Ga. Tech (2), So. Fla., Syracuse, WVU

Wins -- K-STate, Wash. STate, Syracuse

Is Dye an embarassment to AU when he is on that show now?

I thought it was odd they ran the We Believe video with Dye in it twice Sat and only once with Tubbs in it.

7:12 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Chris so we are going to accept that bammer is going to get the best of the crop? So we might as well be glad with Mr Mediocrity (CTT) and be happy.

I think that is a cop out.

7:12 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Look at the record of the teams we beat this year:

ULM 3-8
SO Miss 5-6
Tenn 3-7
Ms St 3-7
UTM 8-3

Not a ringing endorsement on strength of schedule is it.

7:19 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I like Pybus' enthusiasm, but he was only offered by Duke on signing day. Maybe he works out maybe not. What about Dax the long snapper? Look at the recruits we beat out Troy,UAB,UCF for. Maybe they work out, I don't know. I just feel we should go after bigger fish. If we don't get who we want, some of these guys will still be there and would drop Troy, UAB if AU offered late.

7:23 PM
Blogger barkley for governor said...

Chris, most people say Alabama is going to get better recruits than Auburn because they're Alabama.

If Nick Saban was at Auburn and Tommy Tuberville was at Alabama, do you think Alabama would still get the better recruits? I know that sounds like a rhetorical question, but it really isn't. I'd just like to see what you guys thought.

7:25 PM
Blogger AUfan said...

I'm with fsj, how many passes does CTT get? I've always said the best thing to happen to him was the plane trip to hire Petrino. That seemed to galvanize AU fans supporting him against TPTB. Now, it seems like many fans support him no matter what watching the teams' performance says is happening. I think it is very telling that so many fans seem relieved we didn't get embarassed against UGA. Is that how far the bar has been lowered?

Tubs ain't goin' nowhere. Get over it.

7:29 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

barkley- I think they would get their fair share because they are who they are, but I think Saban @ AU would not be satisfied with letting them do that and he would work harder than most to get all he could. If he didn't get them, the UAT coach would know he had to work to get them. IMO

7:29 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I don't think he is going anywhere either. I think the entire O staff is gone though. I see a Shula moment here and Tubbs has to make a move or be moved.

7:30 PM
Blogger AUfan said...

Is that 100% sure, Monica? It does seem like the feeling has changed somewhat with the fans about him leaving(thinking he won't). Do TPTB feel the same you think?

Eddie,

I agree 100%. I certainly don't think a decision has been made to keep him. If so, we would have already heard about it, IMO.

7:45 PM

Exactly FSJ. What could possibly be the point in deciding to keep him and not say anything. If Tubs gets blown out at Alabama, that surely will have a say in it.

7:47 PM
Blogger AUfan said...

Eddie, do you think it depends on the Bama game or are there other factors in play? It just seems short-sighted in my view to make such a choice on one game. I hope that is not the case.

7:47 PM

Just going on the thinking that everything is so quit that the PTB already has someone picked and is keeping very hush-hush, and I don't think they can or there is nothing there to report. I also don't think they are ready to toss 10-12 mil to get it all done.

BTW-Lowder's personal stock in CNB was worth $153+ mil this time last year. Only worth $18.2 mil today. Is he ready to pony up?

depressed,

I look at it like this....

-If this is truly Gouge's decision then he will wait until after the Alabama game to get a total picture. I think we all agree that Jacobs will not make this decision.

-If this is a BOT/PTB decision, something will be announced prior to the Alabama game. No way, IMO, that they let him get to the Alabama game with a chance to win popular opinion to his side with a big upset.

-If the decision has been announce to keep him no matter what (I don't believe it for a minute) they will announce it this week or next week.

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Just an observation, but it seems that generally, the folks that think CTT will be back are the type of folks that place a lot of stock in what PMarshall says (when he finally says).

The folks that think that CTT is gone generally seem to be the type of fans that don't miss a Finebaum show.

7:53 PM
Blogger Monica said...

and what do you base all that belief on, Faker?

7:53 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

depressed- I think it is everything that this year has been about and that is how it will be judged. Remember, last year was a pretty lousy year with a highlight win over a 7-6 bama team and a 9-4 Florida team. I think he is being judged as a whole over this season and last, and that includes the next game.

Everyone seems to be indicating that Tubs will return, and if that is so, then I will support it, but why not say something. Makes no effing sense to me. The other thing that I have a problem with is the baggage that he will be carrying into next season. The question I have that I am trying to answer is that if Tubs stays, can next year be much better than this year?

Only a couple of my AU friends are willing to entertain the idea of CTT leaving. The only time I hear such talk is on the internet or the Alabama Media.

I bet Mindbomb is loving it...got them Barners all worked up. He needs AU to change coaches now that Bama is winning and he can't stir the Bammers up anymore. Let's fess up...who listens

7:59 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

eddie-I think he stays. I am torn between whether that is good thing or not. From a PR point it is a good thing. From a win-loss point, I am not convinced we are going to be much better. I have said before that if you are OK with 8-4 or 9-3 then TUbbs is the guy you want. With that said though, who are you gonna get? Every young guy seems to be tagged with 'he hasn't coached in the SEC and his offense won't work.' Well you can't say get rid of Tubbs and then want a high profile coach that you can not get. Remember UAT lucked into Saban. They were hot after Rich Rod (imagine what they would be doing if they had him now) and he turned them down. So did Spurrier according some. So be careful what you wish for if you do n ot have a replacement already committed.

8:02 PM

Predicting wins and knowing folks are 2 completely things. Also FSJ, which brilliant Alabama journalists picked AU to go 5-6 up to now, so your points are irrevelant? The lowest I saw was 8-4.

Eddie, that is the problem I have with keeping Tubs. The offense will have to start over with whoever comes in, and how do you get a GOOD OC to come to a program with so much uncertainty and what looks to be a lame-duck HC? Combine that with a brutal road schadule, Marks probably leaving, AC possibly leaving and I just don't see a big improvment next year. I would love to be proven wrong but I just don't see it. And I am not a CTT hater, it just seems like we are in a decline with no clear way out.

Hoopie- I listen to finebaum once in awhile. I'm not a regular listener, but then again, I really only started since it follows the roundtable and I listen to it.

hoopie,

There was an AP voter that did not have Auburn or WVU in his top 25 this year due to the changes on the coaching staffs of each school. He looks brilliant right now.

Anonymous Anonymous said...

FSJ-a blind hog finds acorn every once in a while. I haven't listened to Finebaum in several years, but I remember Shane having a Tubby watch about year two. I bet he still has it. If he lives long enough it will come true. If Finebaum is jumping on Tubbs to leave, then he is either right or wrong, so what has he got to lose. If he is right he will take the credit for getting him fired, if he is wrong, he will dog AU for keeping him. Sound familiar.

wtc- I'm right where you are. I'm completely torn.

Depressed- Agreed. I'm afraid this will really hurt recruiting the next two years. I hear how great this class is now, but i'm not sold one bit. We don't have many players that others want to steal away from us.

8:07 PM

FSJ- That one voter caught hell from the Auburn and West Virginia folks. I believe he did have Alabama ranked, but I also believe he was a bama fan. Looks like a genius now.

Yes, he was a Bama fan.

He had Alabama ranked, but not very high.

DelGreco tried to embarrass him on the morning show in Birmingham. The guy stood his ground though.

I think the reporter was a UAT grad and freely admitted that he was thinking to the end of the year and not currently thinking of the preseason, that is why he got grief. He may be a stinking genuis, but I doubt it. If he is, then Shane and the crew are also and we know that is not the case.

So far he has been right, but he is way off the norm from those that were doing preseason picks back then.

8:13 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

FSJ- I actually consider myself a level headed bloke most of the time. I knew that the season hinged on the QB play for Auburn, and it did, but I never saw it being as bad as it turned out. I was not going to be surprised if Alabama had a good year. They were returning a SR QB and Saban is a defensive mastermind. The ingreedents were there for success, but I never saw them being 11-0 at this point. I saw them being 8-2 honestly.

8:13 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

WTC...I agree. Another year may not produce better results, but it is just wrong to throw CTT out now. Even with all of the bad news this season, he still has every recruit comitted in the currently ranked #4 recruiting class.

If he can't right the ship in the next year or 2, then maybe it's time. Besides..I don't see many worthy HC candidates and there is a lot of competition right now.

8:16 PM

Agreed,

I thought Bama would lose to UGA, LSU, & either Clemson or UT.

I thought Auburn would probably lose to UGA, WVU, & Alabama.

Hoopie,

Auburn is not going to end up at #4 in recruiting. That current ranking is a product of alot of other teams not having filled their allotment yet, while Auburn is sitting there with 22+ commitments.

I predict Auburn will end up around 15th in recruiting. A good class, but not a top flight one.

8:19 PM

8:22 PM

Hoopie- FSJ is right. This class is only ranked #4 due to quantity, not quality. It will slip out of the top ten and closer to mid teens by the time signing day rolls around.

The question is in the SEC are you falling behind when you are ranked at 15?

8:24 PM

Blogger barkley for governor said...

Jay, do you know what Kirkpatrick had to say about his visit this weekend?

8:25 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I had AU losing 2-3 games and Bama going 8-4. I had UGA losing 2 b/c of their tuff sched. We are in the SEC and losses are a part of life...even Spurrier has never gone undefeated. I consider an SEC season to be similar to the pros.

8:26 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Let me revisit the marketing idea again.
Last year I think many coaches knew a couple of guys Saban got were goingot paly baseball. He got them to commit anyway and even though they went another route, the class gave him a high ranking and got the name out there. There are a few others that will never play but made the class one worth talking about. Compare that to AU's and the several that did not qualify and will never play at AU. Image is huge and AU is getting banhammered at it for now. It can change if the new OC can tunr the O around.

How about hiring Frnaklin back to run his offense with his recruits. We have to pay him anyway.

8:30 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Hoopie, Spurrier has gone undefeated in the SEC at least twice, just not undefeated over the whole schedule.

8:30 PM
Blogger AUBigCat said...

Barkley not taking anything away from Saban's NC because that 03 LSU team was great, but given the same opportunity AU could have a NC as well. We dont and that's cool but CTT has coached a team that was good enough on paper and the field to do it. I would disagree that CTT is mediocre. Winning is alot easier at some programs. They will always have a leg up in recruiting, fanbase, and history. AU aint one of those programs.

8:31 PM

Fir ithise that think Tubbs stays, who is a good fit for OC. Look at the recruits we have for 2009. The new OC has to run a spread type offense. Look at who they are and you can see we can not go back to the power game. I think for Cotton, the TE Philip and Scott to reconfirm, Tubbs must have said something sweet to thier ear and it wasn't AU is going back to the I formation.

Guys, you've read me all wrong.

I think a change needs to be made but you're kidding yourself if you think AU will out-recruit Bammer every year in Alerbamer.

Won't happen. Won't change with a new HC....just isn't going to happen but that's the beauty of the program.

Now, can we get good players - yes. Can we get good players from AL - yes. But Bammer will get MOST of the players.

Let me make my stance known - A change is needed sooner rather than later to keep from falling too far behind the UGA's, LSU's and UF's.

I'm in my 30's and I know Aubrun can not only compete with the Criminal Tyde but whip them on the field CONSISTANTLY.

8:37 PM
Blogger AUBigCat said...

I think CTT has said that we would be a spread/power mix like OU. AU does have a very big back on the commitment list so we sould still be able to run down hill.

Again, as I have said before, he can make the case that this is a contained fire (ie offense is bad, everything else is fine) and pledge to do whatever it takes to fix that side of the ball.

He'll pay an OC $400k-ish, allow the new guy to make his own decisions about offensive assistants.

Please no recruiting banter. Recruiting ratings are the most corrupt thing going on in College athletics. Almost as bad as AAU basketball. Whether players are one star and two star three star and so forth, it is just not worth the paper or time even looking at that stuff.

The 'recruiting gurus' take rumor, second and third hand information about players and with a little guesswork and embellishment, print information has facts.

8:45 PM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

That's almost exactly what I said.

I think Auburn is destined to oscillate between good to excellent when everything's hitting on all cylinders.

Good = 8-4 or 9-3.
Excellent = better than that.

Reasons to keep Tubbs:

Too many other programs looking for top talent and AU doesn't want to get in a bidding war.

Tubbs will have to get rid of some staff and he will do it.

Tubbs has run a clean program.

Many still think he was shafted before and do not want to give the PTB the thrill of wining this one.

Tubbs has a good, not great record, and has done a lot for AU's image over the past 10 years.

Probst said he never came around. The coach at Vigor said AU can't send an asst coach down to compete with Saban. Gasden is always tough but no need to give up there. I too do not want ot talk about stars, just don't give up on good quality players in the state.

Look at AU's best team in the last 10 years - 2004.

Sure there were some stud AL players on that team but the M. McNeil's and the R. Brown's on that team are "AUBURN RECRUITS".

Guys flying under the radar that fit the system and were unselfish enough to play their roles.

AU has to recruit the entire area to be sucessful so I'm not worried about Bammer winning Bammer - its been that way for years.

I just dont think AU is being out worked as much as it's a much harder sell for big time players. Especially when this State is like 4-1 UA/AU fans.

You oknowomy concern is not that Tubbs has had several OC ov erthe years. It is that they do not seem to be allowed to run there offense. No way the offense for LaMo was TF's offense. Somewhere between 2 a days and the game that offense was scrubbed. It was downhill from there.
If Au runs an offense like OU that's fine. i don't remember M Leach getting canned after 5 games at OU or the other OC Stoops had. you know he went through 3 OC's in about 6 years. FYI.

8:57 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Aubigcat- It can and has been done. I don't care about recruiting rankings, but I do care about losing out on players that the coaches want. I trust the coaches in their abilities to evaluate recruits. We need not win all the battles, but we better win our fair share of them.

Aubigcat,I see Kodi playing better and everyone else about the same. I hear the same reasons about playing(or not) certain players that just seem strange, same special team struggles. Until the UGA game, most AU fans I know seemed pretty lackluster about the program. To me UGA's lack of discipline kept AU in the game. I was glad to see a good effort but shouldn't we have a good effort against UGA? Maybe I'm just discouraged about the season, but I don't see the reason for the recent optomistic feel for the program.

Depressed here are some of the changes that I see: The OL went from like 12 penalties per game to 2, WRs are getting open and catching the ball, and the team seems to be gaining confidence in themselves and each other. That's pretty good to not have a true OC and identity.

And we've seen Bammer over the past few years under Fran and Shula absolutely SUCK at it.

Now, are they sucessful? Yes.

But can they just cherry pick the best players, NO.

I don't know about you all, but if this season were a movie, what movie does it remind you of. For me it is the Seventh Seal in the orginal Swedish with subtitles starring with Max Von Sydow. CTT has the main role as a knight, Antonius Block returning from the Crusades after 10 years and plays Death personified (Nick Saban) for his life. In this case the chess game is a football game.

I thought we played better than previous games but UGA did everything they could keep us in the game.

As for next year the QB play will be sporatic. KB probably wil lnot be the man. I think it will be Trotter. The WR's wil be much better due to the recruits we have coming in that have run the new offense. that is why i feel good about next year.

Chris you're right that UM and OSU may not have free reign all over the country to cherry pick but in their areas repectively, they have first pick of the best players. As far as Bama goes Shula was an aweful recruiter. Dont remember how Fran did but the UA name recruits itself. I have heard more AU players say that UA was their first choice but werent recruited by them. That's pretty easy to me. Most schools dont have it like that.

9:35 PM
Blogger AUBigCat said...

Guys this offense was pathetic for most of the year. It couldnt move the ball in the second half period. The defense was on the field most of the game. The offense still has redzone issues, true, but before we werent even getting to the redzone much. WRs are wide open and Kodi is making good reads. You guys really dont see the improvement??

I don't really have much to add to this discussion.

I'm now under 50%. Too many people are preaching patience and that gives me the idea that Tuberville will end up getting another season to fix issues.

I think he can win plenty if someone comes in here and creates a new offensive paradigm: Strategic uniformity, shrewd play-calling, improved player development. It can be done.

Thanks for the email Monica. The Gulley kid has ok stats depending on where they will play him. 5-10, 185 with a 4.4/40 is not bad. But the thing I dont understand is that they let Tim Simon go to Ole Miss and he was a big AU fan. We pulled his scholly and he was like 6-2 210 RB that ran 4.5/40 and had a great season as well. I dont understand it but the coaches know alot more about recruiting than I ever will and they are usually right about these things. Remember Marks was a 2* guy.

9:42 PM
Blogger AUfan said...

Cat, UGA had given up 125 points in the 3 games before AU. We put up 13 and people feel good about the offense. Again I feel like Kodi has improved but that was starting from a low bar. We are 119 out of 119 in the country in red zone offense. That's not good.

One last thing about recruiting that I learned earlier this season. A lot of 'offers' are conditional and depend on if a player higher on the board commits or not. Others are like the Pybus kid that didnt get an offer until the very last minute and that was probably based on AU having a scholly left and no better player to take. At any rate, that kid is smart, strong as an ox and has solid stats physically. I think he will be a good player when it's all said and done.
