Auburn 75, Tuskegee 32

OK. More basketball action coming your way from Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.

  • FINAL: Auburn 75, Tuskegee 32.
    • Tuskegee shot 19.2% (15 of 64)
    • Tuskegee hit 1 of 16 from three-point range
    • Tuskegee hit 1 of 8 from the free-throw line
    • That's the lowest Auburn opponent point total since 1948

  • @ the 3:00 mark
    Auburn leads, 62-30.

  • Frankie Sullivan just scored on a shooting foul. What can I say?

  • Lucas Hargrove just scored on a shooting foul. That breaks a long streak.

  • SECOND TO @ 11:29
    Auburn leads, 40-25.

  • FIRST TO @ 15:47
Auburn leads, 36-19. Haven't been watching. I'm writing a story about Nick Fairley for tomorrow's editions.

  • HALFTIME
    Auburn leads, 30-11.

Depressed, if we end up with a "Callaway" type hire at OC, I think the ____ will hit the fan.

8:51 AM
Blogger AUfan said...

mrtommyd, and correct me if I have missed something, but other than playing QB for AU, what has Nix shown to justify hiring him for OC? The games I watched when he was at G Tech and Miami have been painful to watch. I have seen enough of struggling offenses to last me for a long time. I pray there is another OC list we have not seen.

Didn't say he'd be the guy depressed one (you need to snap out of this man), just heard his name bantered about and wondered who else was available. I should say his offenses at Tech did a nice job on our defense.

I wonder if the OC hire will be similar to JayGT's prediction of HC hire... a surprise!

TarHeel, then Evan Woodberry must have misquoted the B'ham News. Here is what he wrote.

UAB coach Neil Callaway, a former Alabama player and longtime Auburn assistant under Pat Dye, told the Birmingham News that he had been contacted about being Auburn's new offensive coordinator. He said he planned to remain at UAB

Barkley is on Jox.
I have to say, I am agreeing with 95% of his argument. We hire ANYBODY else, and there is no controversy.
Because we hired the guy perceived to be less qualified, the poo hits the fan.

9:54 AM
Blogger AUfan said...

mrtommyd, I did not mean to imply that you were saying Nix would be the guy. My apologies. And I agree he did a nice job on us, but I saw little against anyone else to have me excited about having him as OC. And TarHeel, it may have been a mistake by Woodberry, but his article stated that Callaway had been contacted. Hopefully, it was a mistake. I mean Callaway, Nix? Surely there is someone out there better than this interested in AU.

So, he is responsible for the Athletics Dept. But, he delegates those responsibilities to JJ and look where that has gotten them. Maybe if Gogue would have taken more responsibilty, the Athletics Dept. wouldn't be going downhill...but, then again it might!

About Shane Wasden...

He attended Meadowview Christian School in Selma for high school in the mid 1980s. His father was the coach and headmaster there for most of the time he was in high school. His dad had a really bad temper and we always hated playing Meadowview because they played really dirty. I recall Shane getting into several fights with our team over the years.

I haven't lived in central Alabama in years, but I understand that Shane has had some success as a coach. I just hope he doesn't have the temper that his Dad did and that he doesn't allow his players to play dirty.

My two cents...

CINCINNATI (AP)—Mississippi men’s basketball coach Andy Kennedy has been arrested in Cincinnati after a cab driver complained that the coach punched him and shouted racial slurs.

A pretrial hearing has been set for Jan. 16.

Kennedy’s lawyer entered a written plea of not guilty in Hamilton County Municipal Court on Thursday. He said Kennedy emphatically denies the allegations.

The complaint filed in Municipal Court alleges that Kennedy assaulted Mohammed Ould Jiddou and “punched victim with a closed fist while shouting racial slurs.”

The coach was arrested early Thursday.

Kennedy is in Cincinnati for his school’s game in the SEC/Big East invitational Thursday night against No. 9 Louisville.

News on "The Bull" AKA my new favorite AU Tiger....

Freeman was hardpressed to hold back his excitement about Chizik and signing with Auburn.

"I heard Coach Chizik has coached three Thorpe Award winners, well damn, he better get ready to coach a Dick Butkus Award winner. It's on now!" Freeman said. "We're coming back. Me and the boys are coming! I'm ready! WAR DAMN EAGLE! I just can't wait to be a part of the Auburn Family."

Auburn has lost eight commitments, one of which it has since gotten back, since Tommy Tuberville's resignation Dec. 3. More commits have said they are now looking at other schools. Freeman said he had a message for the decommitments and other potential recruits.

"If Auburn can't get'em, we'll beat'em…If we can't get'cha, we'll beat'cha," Freeman said.

LuvAU1968, I am not understanding your point with Gogue. It appears you are saying Jacobs isn't doing his job, but it seems like the athletic department is in good shape. Facility expansions continue.

Performance of the teams are a concern, althoug I believe that just made a coaching change to address that, although the change may be in the wrong direction.

As for basketball, things seem to be improving and Lebo is about to the point where it is do or die, so either it improves, or he would likely be gone soon too.

I thought his line "Auburn officials now surely regret doing the right thing and giving Gill an interview. For their trouble, they've been labeled as bigoted and unfair by a prominent, well-meaning alumnus" regarding Barkleys racism claim was on right on the money.

What other program wants that label if they interview but don't hire. Your damned if you do and damned if you don't.

TC,

How are they maintenancewise, the dalmation shed small hairs, not a problem, but just curious.

DC,

They are shorthaired, they are not the shepards. They have a dingo look about them and they are smart and loving for sure. Mine really watches out for our kids and place, which is always good.

DC--

Go with the boxer. I've had them all my life and they're GREAT dogs! Especially if you have kids. I have one now that's the sweetest dog alive and very protective of me and mine. Bark is way worse than their bite and they really don't shed.

codey blue was a queensland heeler/australian cattle dog. brilliant breed. very protective, but intelligent enough to understand what represents an actual threat (doesn't attack children, also doesn't trash your property). they require a great deal of attention, however.
