So Rivals.com, the national organization, is reporting that Gene Chizik will be the next coach at Auburn.

We knew we would be taking a significant step backwards when Tuberville resigned. There isn't a candidate that will step in and change things in a couple of years. Unknown said...: Kristina, coaches don't win football games, players do. Chizik hasn't been a head coach that long. I don't know who bad Iowa State was prior to Chizik, so there is a lot to take into account.

I don't see a huge difference between Gill and Chizik. Yes, Gill had one good, not great, season at Buffalo. Chizik had a couple of stinkers at Iowa State. There isn't a lot of proof of either's coaching ability. Both have been highly though of on a national scale.; 2:22 PM

Unknown said...: Iowa State went to a bowl 5 times from 2000 to 2005. The only exception was 2003. They won 2 of the 5 bowls.

One of their bowl opponents were Alabama in the 2001 Independence Bowl. They lost 13-14.

I have long said that if we replaced Tuberville we needed to get an offensive minded coach, so Chizik is the obvious choice.
