Bonner and Boddie now professional players
Hey everyone. Your favorite free throw-drawing forward, DeWanna Bonner, has been selected by the Phoenix Mercury in first round of the WNBA Draft.
She was the fifth overall pick. Bonner will play alongside former Auburn standout Le'Coe Willingham, who plays power forward for the Mercury.
Point guard Whitney Boddie was the 20th overall selection by the Sacramento Monarchs.
This is the first time Auburn has seen two players selected in the WNBA Draft.

DEWANNA BONNER SPEAKS
- On the situation in general: "I'm excited to go there. It's warm and it's an awesome city. I'm just happy to experience Diana Taurasi. I think that their system is great and I like to run, so I'm just really excited about that. I'm just excited and ready to get to Phoenix."
- On Phoenix's up-tempo style: "Oh yeah, I like the way they run. They've got a great point guard and shooting guard in Cappie (Pondexter) and Diana, and they're already a veteran team. I'm just ready to come in there and improve something."

That is substantial
Way to go.
seeing the world cup in auburn would be fantastic. i wonder if phoenix is on the table?
Nice to see her take it to the next level.
I hope she doesn't get arrested like the last AU hoops star to end up in Phoenix.
Man that's what three new threads today...and we're sure to get a 4th. Only at the HABOTN.
Oh and congrats to Miss Bonner, she's joined the big leagues.
Thanks for coming to get me Jet!
DEWANNA IS A RAWK STAR
JG, what kind of cabbage to pro-female basketball players bring down?
Will - After taxes I think it is coleslaw.
#5 pick. not too shabby.
congrats Dewanna.
Getting threads quicker than a key unlocks the door at NO SLEEP MOTEL
That's fast.
Threads by the hour, night, week or month at Hotel HABOTN!
is that anything like 'Hotel Whiskey' Brother Jet?
More like Hotel California ...
You can check out anytime, but you can never leave!
Monica's got a lotta pretty boys, she calls friends.
It's the pink boxing gloves.
Warm smell of goat poop rising up through the air.
Some post to remember, some post to forget.
WNBA WAGE SCALE
Jet you are SUCH a freak! You talents are so wasted.
You know you like my boxing gloves, AU. ;-)
very cool Sensi. i had no idea how much those gals made. not bad money.
Why is it so difficult for me to type your?
well, not bad for the WNBA i mean.
Congrats Dewanna! Best of luck...I love Phoenix!
Sensi that is an eye opener. Shows how the fan dollar inflates salary. ie NFL NBA and MLB.
Did anyone see the Obama Chia Pet?
Yeah, a lot of that is based on revenue (especially TV).
I applaud the WNBA for actually remaining viable.
Busted on the gloves.
I'm sure the WNBA appreciate that, Sensi.
Can't go wrong with something so lady like that pops the snot out of folks.
I love pink boxing gloves
Mine were an ugly maroon that looked like the Miss. State home jersy.

Good old Speedy Gonsalez
WEG...
That's great. Here's a link.
I see that the U.S. Navy is talking to the Pirates. What are they saying...."Let the Captain go, and we will not blow you out of the water?"
HA Exactly, AU!
Digger I'll have to send you a picture of them since you're not on Facebook.
Digger - You're not a redneck.

No not a redneck but still
a DOM
I just went a little retarded reading that Sensi. Half of it is not intelligible.
This was too funny not to share from over at the TideSports.com Message Boards.
The post was:
Cody is going to run a muck on the SEC
One reply was:
he's going to run a muck? what the h*** is a muck?
The reply to that was:
He means that Pugh is a dead man, if he survives to play in the Iron Bowl.
So is 280lb McKneel from UT.
Another was:
I'm not really sure... but I'd imagine it looking like 36-0.
I have to admit I laughed out loud.
Sorry for the repost. I corrected my own typos.
alright fellas/sistas, i'm out. off to job #2. they somehow blocked the HABOTN, Facebook, & Youtube so i'll be MIA till tomorrow. :(
They're explaining what "muck" means when it's not even the right word to begin with.
Scottie...
You need to find a way in the back door.
See my response, ehyou.
I think Sensi hasn't had a deleted comment as of yet....that's all
Sam does not listen to women.
There was one earlier.
DeWanna rules, though. Way to go, chica.
Sensi - I missed it.
Sam - Has a pic!! Yea!
Is there something wrong with self censure?
Not if you are quick enough!
Of course not...it is actually better than sometimes leaving something up that people will attack for the next 20 minutes...(i.e. lurker's previous only ever comment)
I was going to say that DeWanna could probably make more using her degree, then I saw what her degree is. She should probably stick with basketball a few years since the rookie salary is about double of that of the average salary of a recent graduate with a psychology degree.
Sam - There may also be a few endorsements as well.
They pay salaries to people with a psychology degree?
That is where the kizash will come from.
MJT - You didn't ask during your session today? Insert rim shot here.
Scottie,
Good luck on finding a way in the back door...
j-z - there is a joke there but since Farrah Fawcett seems to have a rare form of cancer I will let lie.
WNBA players get endorsements (massive super-superstars excluded)?
I have no idea, maybe local endorsements
This is Mary Sue Jumpshot of the Montgomery Gumpettes reminding you ...
"Clean sheets every hour at Hotel HABOTN!"
Rebecca Lobo was a big spokeswoman for monostat.
That's because women don't talk to Sam.
Not true, I tell you. Not true at all. Women are constantly trying to tell me what to do, as if I don't know what's best for me.
How old are you, Sam?
I'm at least 12. I quit counting after that. How old are you?
I'm 43
Sweet Jesus! You've got one foot in the grave! What does that feel like?
slippery
What up peeps?
Crap, I am older than Monica. I fart dust.
Hello my friend.
I am playing my second game of soccer tonight and when done I will feel like 63 in the morning....does that count?
Don't have my wind back yet..hurts about the 42nd minute of the first half.
AU1, watching a bit of masters, Chad Campbell played an amazing round.
Hey Seanzie.
I now have DVR. Everyone keeps saying my life is now complete.
One foot in the grave at 43 - too funny for words.
Farting dust hilarious
I am dust
;-) Dig
Dig I rarely drink beer, but I think I may have a Smithwicks in your honor tonight. I don't have to work tomorrow. wooo hooo
Anyone wanna drop by and help me across the street?
Just to mean to lay down and give up
Smithwicks is the bomb diggity.
lol You need a boy scout, Steve?
Mon would love to have one with you
but
I can't find it here
Seanzie - He did and Mahan is also but just hit one long....Mize had a 67.
Puppet time came and went with not a single wimper now happy hour is here and I will have to be content with this Coors Light
AU fans who call the slimebaum show should be excommunicated. they are obviously the dumbest of the dumb. and the bammers spouting off about how guys who have never been in a college practice are going to dominate the sec next year are even dumber than the AU fans that call. i accidentally listened to about 5 minutes of his garbage on the way to and from the store this afternoon. at least when mccready & co. were on WNSP there was some journalistic integrity beamed over the airwaves. of course, integrity is what got mccready run out of town...
I would but the last time I did that before a game......instead of hanging with the team, I hung with the trash can.
WHIMPER dang it
Chip has a chip.
So, I figured I may as well way in with some way too early unrealistic predictions for the 2009 football season.
Sept. 5 Louisiana Tech W
Sept. 12 Mississippi State W
Sept. 19 West Virginia T
Sept. 26 Ball State W
Oct. 3 at Tennessee L
Oct. 10 at Arkansas W
Oct. 17 Kentucky W
Oct. 24 at LSU L
Oct. 31 Ole Miss L
Nov. 7 Furman W
Nov. 14 at Georgia T
Nov. 28 Alabama L
Yea, the T is for tossup. My prediction is 7-5.
Tiger movin'
Later Hotties.
Steve - That is what I had predicted as well.
l8r digger

FC Porto?
What?
Aggragate?
You gotta be kiddin' me.
Whitney Boddie goes No. 20 overall to the Sacramento Monarchs.
Chris, I know you're not talking smack. Right?
Good for Boddie.
Sorry, Dig. I promise I'll bring you some Smithwick's when I come to B'ham in June.
"lurker" cracks me up.
Sounds like he/she needs a refund.
kaiserslautern--no longer bundesliga. is that for real?
Its coming.
I can see it from here.
Chelsea and Ballack will raise the trophy soon!!
I thought that last comment was pretty nice. What do I know, though?
What exactly is an aggregate victory? If I beat you 12-0, then you beat me 2-1, we don't have to play game three because the aggregate score is 13-2 in my favor? I doubt that's it, but soccer is strange.
Steve - a different spin:
Sept. 5 Louisiana Tech W - this will be a squeaker. It will likely be pretty ugly for both sides.
Sept. 12 Mississippi State W - After last year's chess match, this should not be a squeaker.
Sept. 19 West Virginia W - this will be a great game, but both teams are rebuilding offenses. AU's defense (if healthy) should win it.
Sept. 26 Ball State W - another squeaker. BState is playing good ball lately.
Oct. 3 at Tennessee L - this will break my heart, because I hate Lane Kiffen already. But Neyland is a tough place and TN is due..
Oct. 10 at Arkansas L - again with the heartbreak. Petrino is a good coach and Arkansy is tough to beat on the road.
Oct. 17 Kentucky W - KY is stoked about their Calipari. Football suffers. Auburn wins convincingly.
But what are we convinced of?
Oct. 24 at LSU L - my heart will be calloused at this point, but this tough loss will renew my sense of schadenfreude when it comes to big hurricanes hitting the Gulf.
Oct. 31 Ole Miss L - Rebels have the best QB in the league this year and should have a pretty good team overall - since they signed like 50 guys! Since it's at AU, this game could really go either way, I think. But I give OM the edge and thus AU gets an L.
Nov. 7 Furman W - As close to a good game as you'll see if you are a fan of the blowout.
Nov. 14 at Georgia L - I'm shaky on this one also. If we have a QB that has become "the man" by this point, we could win. If not, we don't.
Nov. 28 Alabama W - I will damage my vocal chords if it will help our defense win. WE. MUST. NOT. LOSE. THIS. GAME.
7 - 5
TN and AR are wins. 9-3 with loses to LSU, UGA, and Ole Miss.
And also - my apologies for talking football in a women's basketball thread
$35,000 per year not to dunk?
Hey. That sounds like me!
I come back and the place is empty.
O well
I will look in later
Sam, it takes creativity to lose with the amount of talent UT gets. I don't think anyone could be as creative as Fulmer.
Greg, I think Bama will be much better than Georgia. Georgia lost Knowshon and their QB. Bama will be tough, although it will be much closer this year.
Watching Tiger play 18 was my favorite part of the day....so far.
Steve..
So you're saying that we beat UGA by a wider margin than we beat UAT? I probably agree, but I'll get back with my final answer.
Steve...UGA will have a very good OL this year. They also have 3 very good RBs waiting to get on the field. The QB will be adequate.
UGA-Bama...too early to predict.
