The Official HABOTN Commendation

Could this be the greatest day in HABOTN history?

Thanks to our friend Jet, who is both a gentleman and a scholar, the HABOTN has been lauded via Alabama Senate Resolution No. 09-182.

Here is the text. If you'd like the official resolution in PDF form, I have uploaded it to sendspace.com and provided a link below.

------------------

Senate of Alabama
Montgomery, Alabama
Office of the Secretary

RESOLUTION

Commending Jay G. Tate and the HABOTN for Outstanding New Media Achievement

By Senator French

WHEREAS, with utmost admiration and appreciation, we recognize the Hottest Auburn Blog on The Net (HABOTN), which has established itself as the premier web site for supporters of Auburn University to glean information about athletics, engage in good-natured debate and develop friendships with like-minded fans throughout the nation and world; and

WHEREAS, Jay G. Tate, who covers the Auburn beat for the Montgomery Advertiser, launched the HABOTN on March 1, 2006, at 6:36 p.m., as a vehicle to provide readers a way to interact with him and each other on daily posts, thereby leading to thought-provoking commentary by partakers of the blog, where are known individually and collectively as "hotties"; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tate has posted more than 1,200 items on HABOTN since its inception, leading to more than 1,000,000 comments from Hotties, not including their participation in widely anticipated online chats, known as "Campfires," where many issues of importance to the Hotties are thoroughly vetted; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tate, with good nature and great patience, tolerated the antics of merry band of Hotties, who have strayed into areas far afield from Auburn University athletics, such as employment issues at Boston College and the threat posed to society by puppets; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tate has selflessly shared the stage with numerous HABOTN followers by creating the "Ring of Fire," which is a Hall of Fame of HABOTN posters who have exemplified excellence and who, along with the tireless efforts of Mr. Tate, have helped elevate the HABOTN to its place as a world leader in new media; now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA,
That with immense pleasure and great pride we commend the HABOTN for its contributions to rational, entertaining discussion of Auburn University athletics and the edification of fellowship among its devotees, and we direct that a copy of this resolution shall be provided to Jay G. Tate as a token of our appreciation and respect.

I hereby certify that the above is a true, correct and accurate copy of Resolution No. 09-182, filed with the Senate of Alabama on April 29, 2009.

Wives don't necessarily have to work 14 hour days to be "nuts," but it sure helps them get there sooner.

Of course, Mrs. Jet is 350 miles away in the land of Scottie B, and can't see this.

Thanks for the heads up, Kathy.

Oh, if some needs a work ethic, then, yeah, Mrs. Jet has it.

we've got puck droppage in about 10 minutes. Go either team! I'd love to get one of those marathon multi-OT playoff games which, thus far, have been noticeably absent from this year's Quest for the Cup.

The "Selling It" ads in the back of this month's Consumer Reports are absolutely hilarious. I think the best is the "non-drowsy formula" sleep aid.

Or maybe it's the knee brace that is guaranteed to elevate your pain (instead of alleviate/eliminate)

7:57 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

ok, maybe they are not that funny.

8:25 PM
Blogger Jet said...

You know what's funny?

UAT losing to LaMo.

UAT running a stupid pass play in 1997.

UAT hiring Mike Price.

Oh, I could go on for quite a while, but I'll stop.

I'm a marginal hockey fan ... no favorite player, no favorite team ... couldn't tell you who the 5 best players in the NHL are ... but I enjoy watching it, and love it in person.

rivals.com reports a 6-2 255 lb. long snapper from IL walking on at AU. don't we already have like 18 long snappers? it says he does a 550 squat and 370 bench. maybe he can play LB too.

also some in state walk-on OLs and that juco WR from CA that visited after signing day.

have any of the BOS v CHI games not gone to OT?

'hawks are hawt now. Trailing 3-0, now tied the Canucks at 3-3. Five more minutes of tied hockey and we'll get FREE hockey. I don't care who wins since neither team has former Auburn players on their rosters. I'm just hoping for OT hockey

10:33 PM

so much for free hockey. Blackhawks make a TERRIBLE line change leading to a 3 on 1. Canucks score with 1:13 to play.

michael-is it profitable? My turtle shell replacement business is not going to pass the stress test, plus my supply of human skulls is frequently interrupted by Somalis. But I think the biggest problem is there aren't enough people accidentally mowing the shells off turtles. So even though supply may be down, demand is even lower. I think I could convert my factory into making skull hats without too much bailout money from the feds.

Here, here gatiger.
Let's throw in a squadron of Bama hate while we're at it.

Blogger NoVaTiger said...

Bama hate... That'll put some life back in it.

7:46 PM
Blogger Norm said...

My net of hate can be spread far and wide, it's no problem for me.

I swore off posting on dead thread earlier...good thing it's not Lent anymore.

Did someone say Hate Bama?

I think I can accommodate.

7:48 PM
Blogger Norm said...

ehyou - how was the birthday party?

7:48 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Hating Bama is a lifestyle, not a trend. According to the doctor, i'm as healthy as an ox and it's all because I get a healthy daily dose of Hating Bama.

Hating Bama helps lower my blood pressure.

The last b-day party was the 3 yr old shindig last weekend. How could that pretty little girl not have an awesome party?

7:52 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Eddie ...

How long will you be gone?

7:52 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Jet- Leave tomorrow and return on Wednesday. Wifey has a work conference down there, so i'm tagging along with our oldest daughter. Nothing like a paid vacation.

7:54 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Nothing like it at all, Eduardo.

Saltwater Grill, a little pricey, but tasty food in PC.

If you're a golfer, Hombre is a challenging course.

There's a national notary conference in Vegas next week. My admin was angling for it. What notary related classes can fill up half a week?

Blogger Jet said...

For old school, seafood dive ... Captain's Table in the St. Andrew's area is grade A.

8:01 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Thanks Jet, I'll look that up. Unfortunately the Mini Cooper will not allow for golf clubs, or I would be all over that.

Speaking of golf, we really need a Habotn golf outing. I know Jay G doesn't play, but I would be up for something like that.

Blogger NoVaTiger said...

It's not the classes, it's the parties. Those notaries are wild people!

8:02 PM
Blogger Jet said...

That's classic eyhou ...

9-10 a.m. -- Buying a Quality Stamp
10-11 a.m. -- Red Ink or Blue Ink: Yes it really matters.
11-Noon -- Ethics Roundtable: What to do when the person has already signed the form?
Noon until Wednesday -- Sex, Drugs and Gambling

That's hilarious because it's true.

I know ...

I'm the Facilitator for the Noon to Wednesday session.

8:06 PM
Blogger Jet said...

OK, not really.

8:07 PM
Blogger Norm said...

Notaries are a wild and crazy bunch. Why, I knew one once who told a story about his friend and a cow and his friend tried to make it with the cow...I wanna party with that cowboy.

There you go ehyou, a minor variation on a previous theme.

8:07 PM
Blogger NoVaTiger said...

Are you also the facilitator for the Alabama Senate junkets?

8:08 PM
Blogger Jet said...

8:09 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Ehyou ...

Nah. I'm not in the junket business.

8:11 PM
Blogger NoVaTiger said...

Getting back to the main theme, the guy with the cow was a Bama grad, right?

The EM-50 is the most kick-a$$ military vehicle of all time because it lulled you to sleep by it's GMC motorhome appearance.
