Post-practice reaction, 4/5
Hey everyone. Here are a few other note-worthy things we learned today.
Photo credit: Todd Van Emst/Auburn University
- Marcus Jemison has, in fact, been moved to linebacker. He's 6-foot-2 and weighs 205 right now. He wants to add 20 pounds before the season starts. He'll be playing behind Craig Stevens on the strong side.
``It was the coach’s idea because of the way I come up from safety and throw my body at a guy when I hit him," Jemison said. ``He liked that and then I have a nose for the ball. He said that’s the way I’ll get on the field quickest, so I’m with it. As long as I’m playing, I’m with it." - Eltoro Freeman, previously known as Stevens' backup on the strong side, has moved to weak-side linebacker. That's a permanent thing. He played that position in high school and junior college, so it should be a straightforward transition.
``The move went real good for me. I've been playing what I wasn't used to," Freeman said. ``One day, Coach (Ted) Roof gave me a couple reps at Will linebacker and he liked the way I was playing so he was like 'OK, Toro, this the fit for you.' So then I went on in the starting rotation." - I thought Kodi Burns threw really well today. His motion still seems funky to me -- like he has too much weight on his front foot after throwing -- but he was pretty accurate today. Offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn told him so during practice.
- Former Prattville High tailback Justin Albert missed the 2008 season, his first at Auburn, while rehabilitating a repaired knee. He has drawn praise for his work this spring. ``I never sat out of a football game. And I love playing, I love competition and I was kind of frustrated. I was like, 'Aww, man.' I wanted to be out there, but I couldn't. So I just fought through it, fought through it and this year I get my chance."
- Gus Malzahn on The Quarterback Race: ``We don’t have a lot of our offense in now. It’s the base offense. After they get that down, we’ll start getting to the other stuff. But they’re competing hard. We went live with them again today. I think that’s the way you can evaluate the quickest. We’re going to find out what’s inside of them and how they compete."
- Mario Fannin looks bulkier ... because he is. The tailback said he's up to 230 pounds, which represents a 10-pound increase from his 2008 weight. It's all muscle. Still, he's not really satisfied.
"I kind of bulked up on my own. That's one thing coaches took into consideration because they saw I wanted (that) as far as a personal preference -- to get bigger and at the same time be fast. That's something they recognized something I was to do. Now it's a matter of losing a couple of pounds to get that speed back."

wha, FSJ?
michael's **screw you** comment was directed at moi...
now now, boys and girls. there's enough michael to go around.
Oh, yes, I know, but you gotta admit...
"happy monday"
"screw you"
it was funny
nothing personal :-)
And for the record, I found it funny.
But he said it in the most loving way possible, FSJ.
So, I formally seek the forgiveness of the Hottie family for my absense this weekend (and sunsequent weekends over the next few week) as I am working on the house and have no radio, no tv (sad, I didn't even know who won the final 4 games until this morning), and certainly no interweb access.
I would like to request the Cliff's Notes version of any important news from this past weekend.
I read through JGT's servings and got a decent idea of what went down (Thanks JGT!).
Where do we stand with the Phelon Jones deal? I'd love to add him to the mix for 2010. Who is the WR from GA that committed?
It wasn't you, Faker, it was the avatar.
Oh I know..
I'm just messing around with Monica.
Jet notes:
Some like Kool-Aid
Unless it has Splenda
Some HOTTIES excited
Hoopie says return to senda
Sensi made return
Dear Leader fired missile
FSJ still lingers
Denny Crum wrote epistle
GaTiger's gone west
Monica lays sod
J-Z raisin' money
Michael's still odd
Zookeeper's been quiet
Luv is still sweet
Scottie must get us Trooper pads
Jay G can't be beat
WTC's still runnin'
Digger's doin' his thing
DMIller, get back soon
And meet me at the King
Wow Jet. Those notes rhyme!
Monica, I am glad I made you happy.
FSJ, I am glad I made you unhappy and then happy.
As for why I should get to eat with Nick Saban, well, let's just say it involves bringing a cooler and pouring it's contents on his head.
what? nothing rhymes with harrison?
That was awesome, Jet!
esp. the part about me being sweet...
i wouldn't go eat with Saban because there is no way I could eat babies and puppies for lunch
I knew you'd find it funny, Faker. ;-)
The sum total of my contribution over the weekend was I lay sod????
I'm good with that.
Harrison, you're learning the old lesson ... the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.
Next time, you're in.
Hmmm, bumper stickers for after the iron bowl. I wonder what may be appropriate? My 3 stars kicked your 5 stars butts?
BTW Monica..
The laying sod quote offended me..
What a great country where I can sit at my desk and eat salmon out of an envelope.
The truth hurts, FSJ.
LOL Luv..
Women have all the power.
I applied, then pulled my application for the Arizona coaching job.
Seemed like the thing to do these days.
I found a way to get over your offensiveness, Faker. I have faith that you'll do the same.
Just as long as you know that, FSJ, you'll be fine.
More reasons to hate bama!! They just picked up a hugh OL commit out of TX that we were after. I think they did that on purpose just to screw with us! I HATE BAMA
And how did you overcome my offensiveness Monica?
Luv...I fully realize where the power lies.
If BigCat hates you then you just deserve to be hated! End of story.
AUBigCat, money talks.
Nick Saban...
That is all.
Faker - Because I have a kind heart and a generous spirit.
And if you don't believe her, FSJ, she'll sock you in the nose with her pink boxing gloves.
either that, or she's just learned to ignore you, FSJ. ;-)
I guess Auburn is as unattractive to O-Lineman as it is to basketball players over 6'5".
I've decided I'm pink ribbons in my ponytails on Wednesday and see how they like them apples! hmmmph!
Monica = Thread Killer
Look who the thread killer is now...
gmta!
LUV! Get outta my head! That was freaky.
Luv and Monica...sharing a brain.
I am very scared.
*WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD IT WOULD BE*
you know why bama got the OL out of TX? cause TX did not want him. i looked at the TX commit list and 21/21 are from TX. yikes! they already have two RBs committed so AU may actually have a shot at seastrunk.
Just think what we could do...
You should be scared, FSJ.
Jet,
Pure genius! Well.... I don't know about genius, but it was good. Thanks!
No update on Phelon Jones or info about who the WR commit is and if he's any good?
There's that name again. Chip, chip, is he interested in Auburn? I just watched a couple of highlights and he's fast!
Power ... is that what they're calling it nowadays?
Just poppin my head in. Jet should be rapper (theres no money in poetry these days).
I hope Albert gets on the field this year. One of those storylines you want to see.
Like Biggie Said,
"Either you sling crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot"
The nation's No. 1 RB and No. 2 overall recruit, Temple (Texas) five-star Lache Seastrunk, has liked everything he's seen and heard from Auburn RB coach/recruiter Curtis Luper. So much so that the Tigers could be at the top of his list.
I saw this on Rivals. How much truth is there to this? How reliable is Rivals, really?
Dmiller, someone posted a video that was supposed to show the WR commit. If it was the same kid, I'm impressed. Big, physical kid with apparently no fear of contact.
Jet has a wicked jump shot.
I wouldn't get too excited about these early commits. Ask Ray Cotton.
This comment has been removed by the author.
mytommyd....
Yep...thats what it is.
Luv..
Rivals is reliable if your team is ranked high...
Unreliable if your team is ranked low..
At least that's my criteria for judging.
Well....
At Alabama Mal isn't running the show now..Thank goodness...
But I agree about the lack of talent in that position.
I think I'll go ahead and pop some popcorn.
Win Baby Win let recruiting take care of itself.
Winning programs ie Texas, USC and others don't have trouble recruiting.
Coaches work hard.
Like the group Auburn has now
Pop the corn I'm eating peanuts and drinking golden nectur
Satan is definitly the power at bammer and they deserve each other
Monica ...
Jet's jump shooting skills = AU's free throw shooting skills.
New video has been created.
Will take a while to upload. I'm at home today. Slooooooow going.
Keep em comimg JGT
Then you must be slinging crack, Jet.
Jet, I'm glad you're here.
Luv, it's just so dadgum early.
A million things will change between today and the moment Seastrunk makes a real decision.
Charles Goldberg and P-Marsh will make cameo appearances.
i made it in a poem. sweet.
This isn't going to end pretty.
Not again.
Salsa, do you never learn?
At any rate, predictions for the game tonight - I'm taking UNC to win big.
UNC - no doubt
Monica,
Only when I'm in my "plumber jeans."
Faker - You listening to Fbaum?
Jet - Thanks evah so for that visual.
No..at work
whats going on?
Just talking to Cecil Hurt about things like McElroy, being ranked top 5 pre-season, recruiting outside of Alabama because of the down year in state, etc.
What do you think about McElroy?
McElroy will be the reason that Star Jackson switches to WR lol
Now they are talking about waiting on a decision about probation and what that could mean for UAT.
New video is UP.
SWEET
