Trotter was a little more shifty then expected. Wasn't overly impressed with any one of the qb's.

Who was it that got wailed on on the telegraphed screen play? And who was it that made the hit?

Was there any spirals that Kodi threw?

W.Rider... there in lies the eternal problem with our QBs.

Jay G... what were those orange covers on some of the players helmets for? Also Trott looked like he was walking very gingerly on that knee. Is he really gonna be ready for Fall?

Is Kodi able to throw a spiral?

Mrtommy that WR looked like T. Zachery on that telegraphed screen but I couldnt tell who layed the wood to him. It looke like a #33 maybe?

Whoever it was knocked a snot bubble out of his nose.

I swear I did not see your post prior to asking the same questions... when is the last spiral he threw?

4:28 PM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

I'm not sure about Zachery's pre-scrimmage helmet cap. I know he's not injured.

4:29 PM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

The big hit on the screen:

Hitter: Christian Thompson
Hittee: Terrell Zachery

4:31 PM
Blogger ADP said...

It's orange underwear. Kinda like back in the day when coach would make somebody wear pink panties over their pants when they weren't hustling enough.

4:32 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

DL - It's ok. I know you are focused on satellites.

4:33 PM
Blogger ADP said...

Or maybe he had just gotten there from huntin' this morning.

4:33 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Phred - Did you not hustle alot?

4:35 PM
Blogger ADP said...

Trotter is Hotter than Burns.

Oh ... I am so clever.

4:35 PM
Blogger ADP said...

That was all I could do. I was one of the untalented ones who had to hustle more. So ... no wise guy - no pink panties for me.

4:36 PM
Blogger AUBigCat said...

Pred I'm not sure I see the greatness in Trotter from that clip. His 1st throw was either a great pass to the sideline or out out bounds, I couldnt tell from that angle. 2nd throw the WR was wide open but had to dive to catch it. He looked good on the keeper but that last throw looked like the defender was the closest one to the ball.

These QBs have me so confused! I just want someone to step up and look like they've played the position for more than a year.

4:38 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well just on this video, I agree, Trotter looked to be the most confident.

4:39 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Bigcat - I know what you mean but I think that actual throw was caught. The last thrown in the mid field I agree and yes if he lead the WR TD. But compared to non spirals and screens, it seemed better.

4:41 PM
Blogger ADP said...

I really don't have an opinion to tell you the truth. Nothing to see really on the video. I have a hunch though, that Trotter will eventually be the guy. Don't know why. Just a hunch.

4:41 PM
Blogger ADP said...

I guess the hunch is based on the fact that he has "winner" written all over him. Some guys just have it.

4:42 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Maybe cause he didn't seem to have happy feet.

4:44 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ok who wins tonight....UCONN & UNC

4:44 PM
Blogger AUBigCat said...

I have to admit Trotter seems like he has the most upside. Burns and Caudle seem stuck in their old ways/wrongs.

AU1 you are so correct about Kodi. I mean at this point in your career, how is an SEC QB NOT throwing spirals??? In practice??? With almost 0 defensive pressure???

4:47 PM
Blogger AUBigCat said...

I like the UCONN UNC picks but I have had a soft spot for Nova since the 80's. As a hs senior, I just knew that i was gonna go to UNC and play center when JR Reid graduated from UNC. If only i could have grown 5 more inches! lol

4:50 PM

I guess all this QB talk will be a non issue when Rollison is ready, right?

4:56 PM
Blogger AUBigCat said...

Man I sure hope so!

5:00 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Maybe I missed it, but was it in the scrimmage rules that Caudle had to yell "free shot" and then toss the ball up the air downfield and let every one have a chance to catch it?

5:05 PM
Blogger AUfan said...

Jet, i think that pass was to have the receivers ready when Todd returns. The "Todd Floater."

I think Caudle thought they were playing 21.

5:30 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

The way I look at the QB situation is the Kodi is the leader until someone steps up. If Todd's arm was healthy, my guess is that he would be the leader now.

That is not to say I think Todd will be the starter. I see the issues with Kodi and Caudle as coachable issues, while I think Todd's potential is more limited. He has just shown more leadership and decision making skills than the other QBs. I think with coaching, Kodi and Caudle will surpase him.

As for Trotter or Rollison, I wouldn't be surprised if they end up as a #2 or #3 guy, but I doubt they will be the starter going into the season.

SFG- I agree with everything except that you say Todd would be the lead guy if healthy. I think that would make Kodi and Neil want the spot even more, causing Us to have a three-way tie of overall better players than they are right now. take the mental aspect into consideration. and as far as the top spot don't count at Barrett Trotter, we have a few months left.

After watcing that video unless something drastic happens we ar in trouble. Alarge majority of the passes from all three QB's looked like wounded Doves. Where is this great QB coach that is going to teach these guys how to pass.
It is early and they may improve greatly ....I sure hope so.

6:21 PM
Blogger DoWhat? said...

For you recruiting junkies, looks like AU got a commitment from Baneker,GA WR Shaun Kitchens and possibly ATH Dieon Blue from Deschler, AL

6:22 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

As for the happy feet, I don't see that as an issue. What is an issue is foot placement during their throwing motion. Personally, I like some of the little I have seen of Caudle, but my guess is he is the dark horse.

6:28 PM
Blogger wtc said...

Looks like AU picked up a LB commit today. jake Holland from Pelham.

6:39 PM
Blogger Wakeriderof87 said...

Picked up another LB Kitchens from College Park Ga.

I'm not a real big recruiting guy so I have a question. Are these guys just 1 stars b/c its early and they haven't been evealuated by scout yet or are they just not considered good players by most.

This is a good game we've got going here.

6:49 PM
Blogger ADP said...

I'm not sure either and really do not care about the ranking now. Scout has them all 1 * until later I believe. Rivals will give them a * rating but on if they make their top list. Well, I went to Peppertree Steaks and Wine and picked up filets, which I seared to a nice medium rare.

I do like what I am hearing from the plains. The load of crap that we were going to be able to pass and run that I heard last year was disturbing. I like that the coaches seem to be taking a run first hard nosed approach.

It is also nice to see we won't have the kinder, gentler, more caring offensive line that we saw under Franklin.

Anybody else concerned that the defense will no tbe ready to handle a smash mouth game due to defending this offense each day?
Just curious. Last year, as the season wore on, the d was tired. Blame will go to the lack of offense, but can you see where the lack of physicality in practice (defending the pass all the time) could have hurt?

No, just his decision making ability. The point is Todd made a horrible looking pass vs Ark last year with no arm...Caudle is healthy and made the same ugly type of pass.

"I just think it's a great measuring tool," Chizik said. "Any time we step out on this field or any other field, there's always going to be a winner and a loser. Everyday, you have to be able to point back to what caused you being a winner versus what caused you being a loser."

I LOVE THIS.... with all the wussification of our society, where everyone is a winner for showing up... CGC deals with reality…You do or you don’t, you can or you can't, you win or you lose....

AHHHHHH……..Refreshing….

Ps did everyone like my fireworks last night?

One of the surprises the new coaches have seen is the number of playmakers on offense. They were under the impression that there were few, but that impression has changed.

This team will likely win around 8 or 9 games, mainly due to lack of depth on the offensive and defensive lines, as well as at linebacker, but we are not nearly as bad as we appeared last season.

I am most curious about the way Tate has described the running game. He feels he has more opportunities to cut. I think many have the idea Tate is slow. That is far from the case, but I do believe he wasn't able to react as quickly as needed in the Franklin Experience.

I am also getting the impression that Kodi will be the starting QB in a run based option attack.

Have I missed the quotes where the coaches talk about the surprising # of playmakers on this team?

Tate is not slow, but he does need a few strides to get up to speed, those strides can't be from sideline to sideline.

Interesting Steve, where did this info come from?

I believe Auburn Undercover, but I read al.com a lot too.

I am not sure if Tate has a quickness issue, or if he was just having trouble with reads in the Franklin experience. It could be quickness, but I did read were he runs a 4.4/40. That is speed, but it also takes quickness too.

My guess for the coming season is that we will be better than average on offense and defense in the SEC. The defense will probably be not quite as good, but the offense will obviously be much improved.

My early guess is that we will finish fourth behind Bama, Ole Miss, and LSU. With a little luck we could get into the top 3.

The reason isn't that we won't be much improved. I expect the three ahead of us to also be very improved, especially LSU now that they have a QB.

Even prior to the Franklin disaster Tate always seemed to be at his best when he was running downhill, a one cut and go kinda guy, not a shifty back.

Steve, Everything you said sounds good to me. Hope your right.

On the lighter side, I expect UT to lead the SEC in comedic value. Kiffin probably knows how to shut up, he just hasn't learned to take the opportunity to do so.

I hope so too, but it is obviously a lot of guessing. Injuries could very well determine how this season comes out.

That Caudle pass was such a ridiculously stupid decision I wonder if he said, "Hey, man, watch this!" to his buddies before he threw it.

The Kitchens recruit is an interesting one. Depending on where you look, he is projected as a LB,S or WR. He is also on the ESPNU 150 watch list. I think he is a Karlos Dansby type.

Shaun Kitchens

His first name is Kowarski by the way.

We will be much better than last year. The problem that I see is that so will everyone else. I still have no guess to what our record will be. Looking at our schedule, the only games that I'm sure we will win are La Tech and Furman.

Holy freakin schnikeys hotties! Did this kid really commit? I remoistened myself while viewing the video. The thing that stands out to me the most? This young man has absolutely no fear of contact at all. And the blocks on the kick returns were awesome. Way to stay with the play. I gotta go smoke a cigarette now.
