The jerseys are great. That was just one other good reason to get rid of our leprechaun coach. As for the jungle and the survivor stuff, it is a change. I didn't grow up with that crap.

YES!!! Not only that, but they jack up the price too - it's usually 3x more than on weekends when there's not a home game. If it was up to me, we'd drive down the day of the game and go home after!

Sorry, ehyou! I just happened to see the headline where they were up in the 7th and then blew it.

6:48 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

Luv, thank you for the condolances. I was waiting for my court time at the local tennis place here, listening to the top of the 7th on Braves radio...the Phillies walked in a run, the boo birds were out and I looked at my buddy and I said well that's it, we turned it off and went to play. 90 minutes later I check to see what the final was and I almost fell over.

6:51 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

So, did I read it correctly that the Phillies were down by 8 runs in the 7th? No wonder you almost fell over, Seanzie!

6:55 AM

10-3 at the middle of the 7th. That's usually the fat lady singing.

6:57 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

Good news is, Braves wonthe series, they've shown good things from their starting pitching, and their bats are hot...and it's April.

7:02 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

I tried to warn everyone yesterday that the Braves will live and die with that bullpen.

They still have a chance to go 161-1 though.

7:02 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

It's one thing for the bullpen to give up a HR or even a couple of doubles or something, but to walk in four runs is ridiculous.

7:05 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

I hear all the pitchers who participated in said debacle will now be in the bullpen for the Gwinnett Braves for the series against the Durham Bulls.

7:09 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

When did they finally pull the guy?

7:11 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

How many did they go through?

7:12 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

Well the pulled them all at different times. I think they went through 5 or 6 guys after the initial starter went to the bench. He pitched six solid innings and left the bullpen with a 7 run lead that evaporated pretty much the second he got back from putting ice on the shoulder.

7:19 AM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

the guy i was working with last nite had the Braves game on and had watched the entire thing. he was inconsolable by the time i got there in the 7th. unreal.

but hey, 2 outta 3 to start. i'll take it.

7:38 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

Right, the bats were hot and the starting pitching was great. And it's April, if this happens 4 or 5 more times...well then it's time to panic.

7:42 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

What I don't get is why, when the pitcher is doing so well, do they have to pull him?

7:46 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

He gets tired and eventually he won't be doing as well.

Oh and TEE TIME!!

Yes, I can't wait to get home and start watching, AU1N04!

7:55 AM
Blogger wtc said...

I know it is early in the recruiting process. And you can't put much into what a highschooler says right now, but does anyone think the asssitant coaches are trying to make astatement by going after these top players so early?
I do not want this to be a bash affair of the previous staff but I just do not believe they would have gotten the interest from this many WR's, RB's, this soon or if at all.

7:57 AM
Blogger wtc said...

I do not subscribe to the services but the headlines indicate that top players are taking more than one unofficial visit to AU. Maybe I too hopeful butthis can't be bad for AU. Right now Luper, Rocker, Thigpen have at least gotten some paymakers to visit.

7:59 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

wtc - I think that they have nothing to lose. xCTT I think felt some would not come and did not pursue. My thought is that these coaches are doing something knew and everyone has a chance to start if they earn it and are good enough. That would inspire someone to come that might not have previously.

8:02 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I knew that actual word should be new.

8:03 AM
Blogger wtc said...

Well I just think they are not willing to SETTLE for the 'type of athlete AU can get'.
That quote from CTT, to me, was his downfall to many fans. It may be me, but it sounded like he had given up on top players. but back to the current coaches.
I just like their effort. Many fans, me included, can take not reaching the goals you shoot for if the effort is there. But for paying the cost of the GAF and the tickets, I want to see effort from everyone coaches included.

8:06 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

wtc - I agree. I read this morning about how Andrew McCain is being taught by Grimes.

He's a teacher and that makes it exciting. It's a new life for me and it's a new life for everyone else, too."

That means, to me, that previously, coaches were going through the motions...hence why they were not going after high end recruits. My opinion only.

8:11 AM
Blogger wtc said...

I mentione dthe other day that if one or two can step up in the WR and RB position, this team will be much better than last year. Those two positions will take so much pressure off of the QB that he will not have to force plays or make something happen as he will only have to get rid of the ball. I think the OL will be fine as long as we have no injuries.

8:15 AM
Blogger wtc said...

You can make it throught the season w/o OL injuries. Many will agree that is what helped UAT make it through the season. No one expected their season to look like it did, but no injuries up front was huge. They have good players but injuries can bite any team and then the wheels come off if you are not deep at that position. Look how they fell off when A Smith was dismissed. Thin replacements cost 'em. (which did not disappoint me)

8:19 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

The OL and the secondary will be the keys to the season next year. If we can stay healthy in both those areas we'll be a much improved team.

i don't care about $5. it's been $5 since i was a kid if i can remember. UT charges $5 for theirs. heck, they've got a $15 package for a ticket/t-shirt/poster. talk about a rip-off.

WTC mentioned AU needing wide receivers stepping up. On that note, is DeAngelo Benton set to qualify?

9:32 AM
Blogger Seanzie said...

Re: Benton, Assistant head coach and receivers coach Trooper Taylor said Benton is in good shape.

"DeAngelo's going to be fine," he said. "DeAngelo didn't get it done in time to come in in December, but it's already done. So he'll be fine."

9:35 AM

I've been told by a few credible people that Benton is/will be ready to roll ... and will arrive on campus in June.

In a related note: I have heard the same stuff about Tyrik Rollison. I honestly have no idea -- and no way to confirm -- his true academic status.

Maybe the people who keep bringing it up know something I don't.

Gorgeous day ...

AU1N04 ... you're my caddy on this shot ... I've got 235 into the green, safe play is in the middle of the green.

A little helping wind ... whatcha think about a club?

3 wood.

10:36 AM

Jet - Hmm. How long can you carry an iron or are you more comfortable with a fairway wood?

10:37 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I am leaning to what Scott is thinking.

10:38 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

With the helping wind, I was going to say a 7 wood.

10:38 AM
Blogger Jet said...

Adrenaline's pumping ... I'll say an 8-iron ...

Oh, I got all of it.

10:39 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

8 iron?? Wow! You've got some supercharged adrenaline!

10:41 AM
Blogger Jet said...

It seems there's a problem with my invitation, and armed guards are dragging me off the course ...

There must be some mistake.

10:42 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

That's funny.

10:45 AM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

7 wood? What loft do you have on that? What's the benefit of that over a 4/5 iron?

Ol' Dummy (aka Phil Mickelson) had a great start. He bogied Hole #1.

Iwarned you hotties last night when I signed off that I would be back.

The Braves bullpen should not be pitching in the braves farm league, they should be pounding burgers at macky- D"s

digger - If somebody would have let someone hit the ball. 2 things could have happened, defense would have gotten some outs and whatever would have scored would not have tied it. Or a grand slam that would have cleared the bases and then focus on the batter. Still able to win.
