Auburn gets another commitment

Hey everyone. This is a quick note to share: Georgia WR Antonio Goodwin has verbally committed to Auburn. We know this because our friends at AuburnSports relayed that information via text alert.

Rivals.com has Goodwin listed as a 4-star prospect.

He has offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee and basically every other major school.

Auburn now has 12 commitments.

NOTE: I altered the time of this post so the top of the AUBURN blog has an AUBURN story.

Demetruce McNeal: dropped 20 spots in S rankings (remained 5.6 3-star)
Jonathan Mincy: dropped 10 spots in CB rankings (remained 5.7 3-star)

Proof is in the pudding.

1:56 PM
Blogger §teve From Columbia said...

schofunk, you are apparently one of the prognosticators that I admire most. You predict us winning our bowl game against an apparently unknown opponent. Is this based upon a specific team you think we will play, or do you just feel we can beat any bowl opponent?

1:57 PM
Blogger depressedAUfan said...

cincy, my totally un-scientific approach to recruiting is to look at the schools that are offering a player. I've seen more than one 3-star player that had offers from all of the top teams in the SEC. I tend to think they are probably deserving of a higher rating based on their offers. Highlight tapes mean little to me, because by definition they are the best plays that a player has had. We never see the bad plays from the same games. I would love to sit in with a coach and see how they evaluate players.

1:57 PM
Blogger Eddie said...

Cincy- It's all subjecctive, but just try and trend what UAT recruits do once they commit. Can you say Recruiting National Championship #3 on the way?

1:57 PM
Blogger cincytiger said...

They watch the men hater channel in there (Lifetime) and there is always some dreadful movie on about a woman who sets her husband on fire because he beat her or something similar. When I do bring up Auburn or football, they just kind of smile and nod. I don't think they understand me.

1:57 PM

2:00 PM
Blogger §teve From Columbia said...

By the way, I will stick with my prediction of 7 wins. Any more than that is gravy. I am not counting the bowl game because I am not a good enough prognosticator to predict games against un-named opponents.

I am bored ordering my Tim Tebow virginity promise ring online so I will get off subject..

Recruiting Perspective:

Yesterday Bama got a TE Vogler- Well a.) we got one hell of a TE last year, remember Philip (something German sounding) b.) if we got any TE this year, which I dont think we are looking for, I would love to have Dickson out of Ocean Springs. His brother is the bad ass TE for LSU.

Bama got Opelikas RB Grant - a.) relax, we just got a great WR, that was wanted by everyone, not just UAB. so be happy.
b.) With only losing Tate next year I say we get one maybe two RB this year, plus I think Seastrunk and Dyer are our main targets.

Oh and wait, its only freaking July so none of this could mattter in six months...

It was tasteless, but we all know shocking humour and journalism sells.

Today, July 23, 2009 ... a date that will live in infamy ... the United States of HABOTN was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Puppetlavia.

It will be recorded that the distance of Michael's Brain from Puppetlavia makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time, the Puppetlavian government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States of HABOTN by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

Sadly, this is not true. Michael has fallen.

Here's a neat NCAA 2009 schedule done with old school helmets. http://www.sendspace.com/file/utxbqn

I dig all the throwback head gear.

And in baseball news...

"The White Sox's Mark Buehrle, already the owner of one
no-hitter, made it two against the Rays, weaving the 16th perfect game in modern history."

From ESPNs home page right now...

More than impressive...

I hope you barners have fun with that gimmicky spread offense again this year while Saban keeps reeling in prospects who would actually like to play in the NFL one day.

I love the head crushing guy! Kids in the Hall was so awesome.

Is it wrong to wake up every morning hoping to hear the news that Nick Saban spontaneously burst into flames and was sucked back into the fiery bowels of hell from whence he emanated?

'Cause if it's wrong, I don't wanna be right.

The factors leading to spontaneous human combustion are rare.

(Sorry I actually heard that comment on the Discovery channel and it cracked me up for some reason.)

I am good, Mchiela. How are you and the fam?

Blogger j-z said...

Could it still be considered "spontaneous" if I poured gasoline all over him and stood nearby to smoke?

Blogger michael said...

We are all good, Kristeehnu. Well, the youngest has a temperature, but you know what I mean: the general health of the MJT fam is good.

So will you be back around now that football is back (kind of)?

Sean, go by that fancy whatever it is you wanted to buy. I'm on KO can #5 and I haven't even left work yet. We're always good for another can or two at home.

So rugby style punters are now fair game. I guess that would limit the fake punts.

Thank God it didn't happen when we had a gambler HC and an inept offense.
