Thursday chatter
Hey everyone. Another late night for the Tates in Cincinnati. I won't go into details. Maintaining marital bliss is a high priority.
I saw where Charles Goldberg, in his fine Gold Mine blog, notes that De'Shaun Barnes and Andre Wadley are no longer on the team. This allegedly is the result of career-ending physical issues.
We all know Wadley had a tough go of it last fall.
I'd like to have a conversation with Barnes someday about this hip injury of his.
Today's topic: Who will be the first current assistant to flee for a better gig?

Linux is funny. My laptop adapted itself to the locale. When I moved over here, it started using British English. Now it tells me that I should spell colour, and neighbour.
ooh, how decadently delightful.
(that's my laptop speaking. Disregard previous transmission)
I have no idea what the Southland tales thing is. Thousand apologies. (ugh!).
It's a good thing, Aeronaut.
That films was 2.5 hours of mind thumping.
I think I traveled through some portal watching that.
I bombed the thread
work is abusing me, and no, MG, the thread lives on.
or not.
I never leave home without my Glock.
You pack heat, Monica?
I bet Nick Saban is a Beretta toting kind of guy.
Wonder what Chizik packs?
Does Jay G. Tate pack a piece for wild pressers?
Speaking of packing, does anyone know the concealed permit requirements in SC?
There are requirements to conceal your permit? ;-)
I know nothing about guns, other than it is my right under the Constitution to own one. I always find it funny at govt/public buildings there are signs on the door "No concealed weapons"(or is it firearms? Either way, they make it sound like if you have a bazooka, anti-tank grenade launcher, and 50 mm machine gun strapped over your shoulder, that's ok. Just don't hide a little pistol in your pocket.
I do, but not a Glock.
It's still Jay Casey Day. I am so wanting me some football. I think it will seem a whole lot closer once we can get July 4 behind us. Seems like that is "summer hump day".
High of 80 tomorrow, sunny and very low humidity. Puuurrrrfect!
Also perfect for the U.S. Youth Soccer Region I Championships that are happening here in Huntington over the next 3 days. Over 5,000 young athletes and their fans.
THT stop wishing your life AND MY LONG WEEKEND away!!!
Hmmmm, I know you are suppose to conceal Argentinian mistresses in SC.
Monica - Run away!!! I'd be driving very fast on any road leading out of town. Or locking myself in the house with all the windows covered.
to the posed question, I say Troop or Lupe will leave for OC position at another school.
another note: al.com days are behind me, to which I say 'good riddance!'
bo..- if you must stray, try Andrew Gribble, Auburn University beat reporter for Opelika-Auburn news. It's not part of the al.com consortium. Only problem is, he just left town for 3 weeks.
Thanks, Monica.
Strangely enough, I want to be able to carry on my Meals on Wheels route. Most of them are great and I always stop and chat for a few minutes. But 2 of the houses.... I fully expect to see on the news one night.
Good move, Bo. Al.com is toxic and will leave you slimy from head to toe.
AUMom - I hope you're very, VERY trained on your weapon and keep up your shooting skills on a regular basis. I'd hate to see you be a part of one of those stories!!
HA THT - I won't be attending the soccer functions, but I welcome all their little green dollars.
Thanks, it's so nice having left the toxic dump for the land of milk and honey. I knew some place like this was out there. I had the faith. Stray I will not!
aren't we like exactly 65 days away to kickoff, give or take a minute?
I guess the game time is still subject to the whims of the networks and hasn't been announced. I would obviously prefer an evening kickoff in early September.
This from 'Inside View of the Auburn Tigers' :
Don't know if anyone had mentioned this in the spring, but Caudle was wearing a blue, team-issued T-shirt that had the date for the Iron Bowl (11/27/09) on the right sleeve and the date of the SEC championship game (12/5/09) on the left sleeve. "Obviously two of the more important dates on the schedule," he said.
Here's a big WAR EAGLE for Geno.
Luv, is the little fellow ok?
wtc, just saw that... I wonder where I can get me one of them shirts??
Interesting interview with Jay Jacobs here:
http://wareagleextra.blogspot.com/2009/06/jay-jacobs-b-sides.html
Miller-That would get the evil empire screaming wouldn't it?
yessir...
I would start a Monk countdown, but I'm afraid I'd get Countdown Confusion. Plus, the characters don't wear jerseys with numbers.
August 7 is the day.
Ok, I promise I'm not going to do a Monk countdown. Y'all can come back now.
I will support a Monk countdown! :-)
Hi Mon! I knew I could count on you.
I sure hope they don't blow it with the final season. They've been running out of stories and I'm not sure what they can do to recapture the quality of the early seasons.
Will they solve his wife's murder? Will he become "normal." Will he marry the Russian lady, Natalie, or some Argentine "soul mate"?
These are the questions that keep me awake at night. Well, maybe not, but I'm still curious.
they will solve wife's murder
he will NOT become normal
I want to know if he and blondie...ggiggity giggity
i dunno, there's a pretty good age gap in the characters.
But I can just see blondie's daughter running into the room with a baseball bat.
Natalie's daughter is Julie
As a follow-up to JayGT's question of the day..
Which AU ass't is most likely to be the next HC at BC?
the age difference doesn't matter when it's the chick that is younger! that's been going on in movies and television (and life) fuhevah
blondie is a FSU grad, btw.
Watching Auburn-Corn Dogs 2006 on CSS .;. still the hardest hitting football game I've ever seen. Anywhere.
Hey, I married a younger chick.
i had that 2006 game on tivo for a long time. i finally had to delete it to make space for the 2007 UF game. definitely the most violent game i have ever attended. kody bliss = mvp
anyone else hearing rumors that trent richardson has left bammer never to return? the pay site boards are lit up with that and some of it actually seems credible. not sure of the reason: homesick, grades, cheating. a lot is getting thrown around. keep you eyes and ears open and let's see what develops.
I should be ashamed at the big grin on my face right now.
i like blondie
Is blondie really THAT much younger than Monk?
Wow chip chip, I hadn't heard anything about problems with Trent. Keep an eye out for domestic violence in Bama households. If it is up, Richardson is gone.
Mon- maybe he'll marry his real life wife. She's played 4 different characters in 4 episodes over the years.
The flight attendant driven to drink when Monk and Sharona were on the plane flight.
Sheriff at the square dance when Monk went to the farm.
Mansion dwelling mother of violinist who Monk thought had lost a finger (the digit found by the toddler in the park)
Can't remember the other.
in real life, only 12 years (she's 43). I don't know if they've ever given her character's age, but I always think of her character as early 30s. I think Monk's age was mentioned as 46 at one time.
Your Monk knowledge is ginormous.
Still looking for some insight into Southland Tales...
And on what type of gun people pack here.
I think Greg is talking himself into buying a franchise when we move to Alabama. That would be interesting.
Auburn-LSU 2006. Man, it wasn't that long ago that we were #3 in the country.
There ain't a reason in the world we can't be there again...soon.
Later that year I was at a family reunion listening to the Ark game on the radio. All those family a bunch of yapping UGA fans.
Not the best of days.
You need a new family.
must buckle down to one last pile of work so I can skeedaddle home soon.
catch y'all in a bit.
Mon- it's all on wiki. I know nothing.

alright, the RUMOR i keep seeing and the best i can interpret the innuendo is that there is something up in regards to trent richardson's eligibility and he may possibly never play for bammer or anyone else. possibly something is up on his standardized test scores that has recently come to light. if there is, in fact, something to it, bammer would have to jettison him to avoid ending up in front of the ncaa coi again. the guy who started all this (best i can tell) seems to think some in state schools were not pleased with $aban plucking the best player in their state before the recruiting season even got going good and may be behind uncovering any impropriety that may have occurred. there are many other rumors that every SEC school has turned in all evidence they have of bammer cheating directly to ncaa bypassing the SEC office.
i would hate it for TR, as he seems like a decent kid with a great work ethic from everything i've ever read about him. but if you dance with the devil(s) ($aban & REC) and you are bound to get burned. i hope it is not what some are implying and he will have another chance somewhere else, but a few REC fingerprints on helping a prized recruit get eligible would be juicy.
remember his quote on NSD: "alabama has done a lot for me and my family" or something to that effect. let's all stay tuned...
i have been sick of hearing all "the next Bo" talk from the bammers about him. until he can bash a major league curve ball 500+ feet and outrun NFL DBs, he's just another football player.
I just got an iphone... blackberry died today...
What apps do you peeps recommend?
test
Ok, good, Iphone apps, happy to say the following:
shazam
vlingo
sol free
google earth
sports tap
ubanspoon
Morning hotties! Not sure who THT has picked for today, but happy whoever it is day. One day closer to Auburn football!!!
Good morning Hotties!!!!
HAPPY TIM CASTRO DAY!!!
T-minus 64 days til kickoff!
Tim Castro, from Wetumpka, played one year at GTech before transferring to Auburn. He and Jeno James were the bookends on Auburn's o-line in Tuberville's first season (I think; a smarter Hottie can verify).
Honorable mention goes to Kelly King from the 1963 Orange Bowl team, Haywood Warrick from the 1957 national champions, and the 1982 fellow I haven't put a name to who kept the bammers at bay when Bo went over the top.
Y'all have a GREAT TIM CASTRO DAY!!!
Yeah, happy Tim Castro day! Now off to my favorite thing - elliptical.
Wonder if we will hear anything about the recruiting weekend in Auburn today?
Morning Hot Ones, happy 4th of July eve.
THT any chance that '82 player would have been a guy named Steve Wilson?
Yep, its gonna be a sloooowwww one today
mrtommyd
according to AU media guide, Steve Wilson lettered in '84 & '85. So he could have been a non-letter winning member of the '82 team. And I don't recall if I actually saw him on the field or just on the sideline in the video highlights of '82 game.
No. 64 in 1982 was freshman offensive guard, the pride of Tallassee, Alabama ...
Randy Stokes!
TommyD ... Steve started his AU career in 1983. Tragedy of tragedies ... his daughter is a good friend of ElTurbo's ... she is a misguided sou ... and is going to ... UAT.
I don't know what I was thinking, we graduated HS together .... in 83. Kinda makes it tough for him to play in 82.
Evidently he and Kelly adopted and refused to tell anyone. That's my only explanation for that one.
Randy Stokes was the centerpiece of the definitive photo from the game. Will Dickey, then of the Advertiser, got a shot of Randy celebrating the touchdown with the nearest official with his hands in the year, and a one particularly sad-faced Bammer looking on.
Thanks Jet! I think you told me that a few weeks ago but I was too stupid to remember.
So here's a big Honorable Mention to Randy Stokes!
Randy Stokes from Tallassee. He was a freshman in '82.
Happy Randy Stokes Day!!!!
In Remembrance of a Great Day in My Life! November 27, 1982 -- a gray misty day in Birmingham.
I thought Slaughter was out for the Iron Bowl because of a family emergency, or at least that is what I believe I read.
