Days to kickoff: 5
Our Tar Heel Tiger's Auburn Minute is brought to you by the number:
5
HAPPY LEWIS COLBERT DAY!!!
Lewis Colbert of Phenix City, Ala.; P 1982-85; 1st Team ALL-SEC and ALL-AMERICAN in 1985; led Auburn in punting all four years he was at Auburn, including a booming 45.8-yard avg in 1985. He has the second-longest punt in Auburn history -- a 77 yarder vs SW Louisiana in 1985.
Yes, he actually had to punt in that game!
HONORABLE MENTION:
* Karsten Bailey: Newnan, Ga.; WR 1995-98; 2nd all-time in career receptions with 150, trailing Courtney Taylor by 3; 3rd all-time in receiving yardage (trails Beasley & Goodson); 3rd all-time in TD receptions (Beasley & Obomanu).
* Travaris Robinson: Miami, Fla; DB 1999-2002; ALL-SEC in 2002 when he tied Carlos Rogers for team lead with 4 interceptions. Now an assistant coach at Southern Miss.
* Joe Sullivan: Birmingham, Ala.; QB 1980-81; Pat's brother, Joe led Auburn in passing in '80 and '81 with a two-year total of 1,142 passing yards and 9 touchdowns. (pre)MrsTHT and I witnessed his first game as an AU quarterback. He led the Tigers to a 10-7 win over the TCU Horned Frogs in Ft. Worth, Texas, on Saturday night, Sept. 13, 1980.
* Joe Frazier: Montgomery, Ala.; TB 1991-94; led Auburn in rushing as a freshman in 1991.

FAH!!!
yo
Maybe Tommy Trott will have a good enough year to merit mention in future countdowns?
Damn, library computers
Scottie B,
no. not angry. I am not angered by the good fortunes of those who deserve it.
Jealous? A little. Could there be a better Thursday evening that doesn't invole all of that plus [redacted until HABOTNafter-dark].
Morning HOTTIES!
5 days and freakn counting.... let the hype began!
you can always just DVR the game till your class is over. who needs commercials anyways.
Since Friday is gonna be a completely useless half-day for you, I say you should add a shot of JD to the coke zero. Don't overdo it (don't want the Friday drive to be miserable), but give your body an idea of what you'll be treating it to on Saturday.
If I told you i'll be in Tallahassee this weekend at the Pike hosue staying with my brother with two HD screens in his living room, then going to bars after that, then going to concerts (ying yang twins) then doing the same sunday, then monday tailgating at the Pike house all day then going to FSU/ Miami game at 8, then God knows what else after that...would that make anyone jealous?
=)
Game week
jhag.....jealous, no! tired, yes!
I say we toast with a lil Crown n Coke.....
wait a minute Jhag, why the heck aren't you going to be in auburn? you can always go to tallahassee on sunday.
ESPN360.com will be fine.
Scottie, i totally agree, save the Mi- FSU game for a Sunday drive!!!!
jhag, sounds like the glory days! Jealous, not so much...nostalgic, absolutely!
My bro's 21st bday is Saturday, yikes.
oh, okay Jhag. gotcha.
I agree. Auburn on Saturday. you can be back to Tally before the parties end (believe me, I managed to do a double header a couple of years ago. a miserable UGA @ Auburn game in the rain that morning watching Cox get destroyed, followed by laughing in the rain in Tally as Wake Forest provided the first Shutour FSU has ever been given at home. I was still in my Auburn gear and auburn poncho, and my future father in law was still wearing his UGA duds. We made it from Auburn to Tally in around 3 hours, I think...)
JHAG, your bro can start his 21st in Auburn, and end it at the bars in Tally. It'll be the best day of his life.
lol @ 'best day of his life'.
i need to try to make the auburn/tallahassee doubleheader. my sister lives down there and i am yet to make a game in Doak.
I'm ready for some football!!!!
Auburn game starts at 6 ET
5 hours of driving on his 21st bday, Dont think he would like that, considering he is not even an AU fan
Love the coffee mug, Cincy.
Scottie, Your neighbors are punks. Their USC flag needs to have some of Tucker's favorite treats rubbed all over it...
jhag, who's the oldest? make it mandatory for him to just make a ride to AU then you do the return trip to FSU! hold out Man!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CINCY!
Who hasn't played My bottle is further away than yours...coke style?
i agree Monnie. i wanted to build/paint a lifesize Aubie out of plywood to put in my yard on gamedays but since i will be at most the games this year i haven't been able to justify it to mrs. scottie yet. come the october, though, Aubie may be rockin' in my front yard!!!!
Mon!!!! whats up resident HOTTIE of all knowledge.... i told you i'd be back...
People! You think Hag is going to miss his brother's bday IN THE PIKE HOUSE on his brother's 21st B'day???
C'mon.
Oh brother...Rich Rod is getting all emotional
WOW Scottie not a bad idea!!! hummmmmm i will be at home for the Game looks like i will be in the workshop late this week starting tonight!!!!!
the Pike house? i'd probably miss that. the Phi Mu or A-D-Pi? i'd be all in! ha.
After reading several articles this week it seems like the whole team is on the Todd bandwagon. This is great news and much better start than last years. Hope the finish is far superior
Rich Rod is a dbag.....
and who the heck is using a noisy old school mechanical typewriter at his presser? Jay G, do you know any beat hacks that still use those?
It's about time you showed up, Mobile! I was about to send out a search party.
Scottie - Sometimes you have to just do that damn thing, man. You don't just need a life size Aubie. You need a Danny Davito, Deck The Halls style a full on assault!!!
Well Mon, i'm a Sigma so i would have to be with my Bruhs for the parting!!!
"Boom it, Lewis Boom it: - courtesy of Ron Anders on the mic. On the day of the 77 yd punt, SWL definitely couldn't get a break. I think Bo had something ridiculous like 290 yards rushing that day.
You would miss the Pike house at FSU?!?!
It's 40,000 square feet (largest of fraternity or sorority houses in the nation)
Pike at FSU has won Fraternity of the year two years in a row.
The courtyard at the house is AtroTurf.
CMON!
No Need Mon it is freakn Game Week..... time for the "Chiz to get his Balln on"
'Deck the Halls'. that's fantastic!
ok jhag, you've convinced my can i roll witcha to FSU for the party!
AstroTurf is so 1965!
I'm sure you'll have a good time jhag.
40k? That's ridiculous. That's not a house, that's a campus.
that's pretty freakin' big. good luck to ya. stay hydrated.
jhag just enjoy yourself and be careful!
Youth doth have it's splendor
So HOTTIES lets talk AU..... who scores the first TD and we hear "Touchdown Auburn"!
Yeah, it will be eventful to say the least...why my parents let me do all this as a senior in high school is past me
New thread is up ... BUT it's only a plug for the lids.
I'll be erasing that thread at some point. I will not be erasing this thread. Ever.
Kodi
Ben Tate loooong run!!!
You're going to do it in a year anyway...might as well get a head start.
I bet Tate scores first.
So are we all staying here then?
McCalebb (on a long run).
your parents trust your brother to watch over you, keep you out of trouble, and make sure you stay away from alcohol, drugs, and stds.
don't make them regret trusting you two. :-)
digger.
Looks like only you and I have played the bottle game,...uh, what does that say abut us?????
Seanzie,
I'm not going somewhere where my legacy cannot be found by Michael in a future Google search.
I think Tate scores first 6 yd TD run
thanks for the plug JG. just wanted a final reminder before i put the order in today. everybody that has faxed or mailed in an order so far has been accounted for. you'll receive receipts with your rockin' caps.
what's the bottle game?
i'll go with Super Mario.
who's the resident HABOTN bookie? we've got to have one. what's the odds on this?
we got 13 on em
2:1 on Tate.
3:1 on Fannin
5:1 McCalebb
7:1 Zachary
10: 1 Benton
8:3 Trott
7:2 Burns
20:1 Todd
How do those sound?
i like it Sean.
line is currently AU -13 , money line -110
That's pretty much where I'd put it. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole, though. At risk of being accused by SteveFC of being a debbie downer, I think it's only a 10 point win.
...then again, some of our best Hotties, like Eddie and Sensi, have faced similar accusations, so I'd be in good company.
I'd take the moneyline ALL DAY, stay away from the spread.
oh, those odds...pretty good there, sean.
I'll put a nickel on Kodi at 7:2
I think we win by more then 13, by it could get ugle and we could realistically end up...not gonna say it
from what i've read LAT has their entire OL, QB, and RB back. they were horrid in '08 throwing the ball so they look to pound it on the ground. they're hoping their stud KR,PR guy Livas breaks out as their go-to receiver.
their DL sounds good with one stud DT but iffy on the secondary.
We should light em up through the air then. You know they're going to stack the box and make us pass, I say we oblige them.
scottie b - I'll fax you my order today (probably within the hour). Being out of town all week last week hosed me up.
gotcha Norm. i'll be a'lookin for it.
I've decided to exercise my "delete" button on my Facebook when my bamer fans misbehave.
So there.
ummm Rich Rod needs to pull it together. This sure is a far cry from his arrogant, barking years at WVU.
I believe, MR. FAH scores first and JHS into a tizzy!!!!!
Mon, I need a little guidance on that issue. Are warnings issued? Are the levels of friendship that get more tolerance than others? Should they have been on my friends list in the first place if I already knew they were the most obnoxious kind of bammer?
Well, sense we are talking Louisiana Tech Game, below is my preview of the game. I hope you enjoy:
La Tech Preview
missinit has those bottles been out of distribution that long? Time flies, can't believe people never stood by the old coke machine and bet on whos bottle had the greatess distance. The city and state was molded on the bottom of the 6-1/2 oz bottle.
Peter, be careful about being a debbie downer. Hoopie will be here shortly to set you straight :)!!!! He even gave me these leg braces like forest gump used to wear.
so, Eddie.....you didn't like my abbreviated scouting report so you had to one-up me, eh?
nice work.
Got no idea who scores the first td, but I'd like to see us start the Chizik era the same way they started the Sullivan-Beasley era, with a long pass on the first play. Let Todd throw one 60 yds down the field just to show everybody that he can do it.
That's assuming that he really can do it.
If it were completed for a long td, well, that would be about the best start possible to this season.
Sorry Scottie, didn't even notice it till I posted :).
This is someone I went to high school with and who is normally a very nice person. He is just misguided on this issue and being obnoxious.
He got no warning of the deletion and here's why. We had a "we'll have to agree to disagree" exchange a couple of weeks ago. However, he made a snotty post on my status which merely says, "Game week. Bout dang time! WAR EAGLE!!!"
Notice there is no bama bashing there. So, he crossed into my Auburn supporting space with his Auburn hating trash. Immediate delete. My Facebook is My Domain and I am the Mistress of My Domain.
Enjoyed your preview, Eddie. Good work.
scottie b - you should have a fax. I didn't hang around waiting on the confirmation, I was distracted by cake.
Digger - I remember those bottles and comparing them with my friends.
I say we start the game without an illegal procedure, or illegal formation, or any sort of penalties on the offensive side. Run past La Tech's strengths, pass over their susceptible secondary, have them huffing and puffing by the 2nd quarter. I'd als o lie to see our D STUFF anything that they could have coming, and the secondary manage their weaker passing game. Is that asking too much for a first game?
It is a GORGEOUS day here. It's nearly Noon, it's 68 degrees and the deeeep blue the sky gets here in the Fall. FOOOOTBAWWWWWL!!!
got it Norm, thanks.
cake? who's got cake?!
How about we return the kickoff for a TD?
PF....
You young thang! To add to digger's reply,
Correct me if I'm wrong Sean,
Once upon a time, long, long ago cities and towns all over America bottled Coca-Cola. Wherever the original bottle was "bottled" the city or town was embossed into the bottom of the bottle. Once drank the bottle was returned (usually to anywhere that sold Coke) and they would be recycled so over time there would be no telling what city you would get on your bottle.
When we kids would buy a Coke, whoever got a bottle from the farthest away would win. Sometimes we would buy the winner another Coke....big spenders that we were!
Coca-cola..a pioneer in recycling!?!?
I'm glad we'll be able to finally somewhat figure out how good this team is and/or can be.
why don't they recycle those green bottles anymore?
Do they make the green bottles anymore?
Not a clue, I defer to Sean.
No offense to all you wanting to start with a bang, but do you remember how we started last season? ...with a defensive touchdown on the first snap. That was the first time I have ever seen that and after last season, I hope it's the last.
Auburn's student section continues to get love in the annual Herbie Awards as number 9 in the nation.
Actually Eddie, didn't we start out by losing PPL for the season?
Eddie, I just wanted to offer my condolences for the derailing of the Rollison Express. I had convinced myself he would be the number 2 guy.
My goals for this season will be realistic. The first goal is to make it through the opening kickoff without losing a player for the season.

So... what will our first offensive play from scrimmage be Saturday? Please check.
1.___Run for + yardage (inc TD)
2.___Pass for + yardage (inc TD)
3.___Run for - yardage
4.___Pass for - yardage
5.___Penalty
6.___Fumble
7.___Interception
Note: 3,4,5, 6, and 7 are not acceptable answers.
Steve and Eddie, with Caudle #2, does that pretty much guarantee Tyrik as a redshirt this season.
I almost spelled redshirt the very wrong way for a family blog
I will take 1 for 11 yards, Alex.
I'm with Coosa. I would love to see Todd air one out on the first play.
i'll take #1 for 4 yards.
tommy, I think it makes a redshirt likely, but not certain. If Todzilla breaks down early, like within the first 4 games, you would likely see Rollison. If Caudle completes more passes to the other team than he does to us, we will likely see Rollison. I would say there is about an 80% chance of a redshirt though.
Seriously, I will take either 1 or 2...just no whoopsies, please!
FYI: i'm thinking LAT will try to get the ball through the air to their TE this week. their TE, Dennis Morris was the leading receiver in their final scrimmage last wednesday.
whoopsies, woopsies...?????? Who cares just don't do it!
making whoopsies = VERY BAD.
making whoopie = VERY GOOD.
I view this as the most critical game of the season. Why? Because all of the players seem to have fully bought in to Malzahn's offense. We really need a solid offensive performance under our belts.
We were big spenders. Our standard bet was a Quarter. And the longest distance got all Qtrs. Sometimes there would be 4 or 5 in the group big money LOL.
i agree Steve.
reading all this info on LAT is making me very nervous/anxious/excited. i may need to go lie down.
Are we sure they can't play like .... tomorrow?!?
I stay nervous when Auburn is playing. Just look at what happened last year all across the country. It can happen to any one especially in the first game.
Steve- I'll be passing along arrangement info later.
mytommy- I would pretty much bet that Rollison will redshirt.
I stated earlier when the announcement occured that I believe that this staff believes that Todd can do great things this season, so I believe that is why you saw Caudle listed as the backup. That is just my opinion on that matter.
I wonder if players get this geeked up? Not having played at anything higher than a Jr High level, I wonder if players get as excited as the fans.
I hope not but some probably do.
mytommy- Lots of strange things happen with football players on games days. Some get really geeked up, some puke and some get the runs. Word to the wise, always avoid a lockerroom bathroom before a game.
This being my first year in the football picking, I was wondering what time the Odds are posted. I looked a while ago and did not see them.
anybody else having trouble viewing last nights video?
Monica, I know nothing about FB, but I would permanently delete the bammer.
This new offense is going to be very interesting. You can expect more turnovers because of the number of exchanges made and the vertical passing game, but hopefully we will see a lot more big plays.
I think the reason Ole Nutt didn't buy into it was due to his conservative nature and the risk involved.
Yes boknowsbo it said it was unavailable when I tried it earlier.
That always happens lately when Jay G takes it off autoplay.
no you wouldn't
The word for the week is motion. Get ready. You will see more motion in this first game than we usually see in an entire season. So repeat after me: Motion!!
Bo/Luv: I have fixed the video player situation. Sorry about that.
I wonder where Rich Rod will coach next year.
Maybe Saban would like to go up there and fix them.
Saban and Rich Rod are two more names to add to The Greasy People List.
my dialing finger is itchy, but i'm trying to resist
Side note and if mentioned earlier my aplogies. But on CNNSI.com they have the hottest college fan base top 40.
Auburn #4.
and i say,
"you're welcome CNNSI.com"
Hmmmmm...the HABOTN Lids improve appearances by 13% to 56%. That's a broad range right there. Hoopie would be in the higher range improved.
Stay away from the Au bets this weekend. My prediction: AU by 10, but that is a wildly unpredictable situation.
Eddie: predicting that we only win by 10 = Reasonable.
Agonizing and imagining the entire season is going to be a disaster because some LBs are on the fall practice sidelines 2 weeks before the first game = Debbie Downer.
AU1 did you read the comments under that hottest fanbases thing?
yes, I would.
Mon, my favorite was the comment on the Florida girls.
where is this list?
I say our first snap would be a false start.
Just watched RRod. Suggestion: FORMULATE YOUR THOUGHTS and make talking notes befgore the presser.
RR is just too much of an outsider and a bunch of Mich whiners are out to get him. Every team stretches those rules.
Aero....hush up! I threw enuff drinks last year due to false starts. The economy is worse and I can't afford that this year.
Thanks Hoopie. Keep picking me up when i'm down :)!!! I come here for emotional suppport.
We may be seeing a program implode before our very eyes. If players don't want to work, then who would want to coach? Rodriguez is toast, toast, toast.
The second snap would be a Ben Tate 85 yard run for a TD.
The third snap would be a screen for a two yard loss after the holding penalty negated the touchdown run.
Scottie - My favorite one was the guy who commented on the Auburn girls pointing out that they were 13 and 14 years old at the time of the picture. He knew this because one of the girls was his relative.
It should be pointed out that the list is brought to you by Bleacher Report. Bleacher Report is all fan contributed stuff = mostly crapola.
Also, that should have been called hottest fanbase because we do have men in our fan base and I saw no men pics.
Just sayin
OK I finally had to turn Doug Amos off. Dear Lord.
Mon - No I didn't. Now I feel all dirty inside.
I call no foul on the internet viewer if you can't tell the girl is 13 by looking at the picture. I call major foul on that girl's parents for allowing her to dress slutty and adult looking enough to pass as a college student on some kind of whore countdown.
Thank you for making me feel better Michael.
Your right....it is all their fault!!
Okay, way to much for me to catch up on from the weekend and I am not even going to try. A tidbit or two from my weekend trip to the Hotlanta area the last two days. Got to see one of the Auburn billboards and they look ausome. The team that played ahead of Prattvegas High was indeed the team that Marcus Lattimore plays for. We got there in the third quarter and Byrnes had already done the damage. By that time, they were salting things away. I got to see Lattimore run the ball about 3 times before they took him out early in the fourth quarter. He did not have any break away runs but did wind up with about 130 yards I think they said. He is a very good looking runner. I sat among some very nice Byrnes fans. They all said that Lattimore is a very good student, solid citizen and generally just a nice young man. I asked them all to go back home and help us get him down on the plains. They indicated that from what they had heard, he was still very high on Auburn even though N. C. had moved into the mix. I enjoyed talking with the folks from S. C. Good peeps. I couldn't help P. H. S. in their game, maybe I am their jinx now. From what I observed, Prattville has a long way to go before they contend for another 6A championship. Of course, they came a long way last year from start to finish and could do it again.
Mon...I turned on the Roundtable to see why you turned it off. What was your issue with them?
Hoopie turning on Roundtable due to Monica's complaints just proves any publicity is good publicity, and the roundtable guys know what they are doing (since I know many of you wonder consistently how in the world they can believe anything they are saying).
When I passed Auburn both going and coming back, I could smell FOOTBALL. Can't wait. I think everything is going to be good, but what do I know.
Hoopie - Doug was talking non-stop about Saban's contract renewal and how it meant he would never leave. When Doug let's his 5 year old homer take over he's hard to take.
I agree with that theory most of the time, Michael. However, it doesn't apply to Doug.
I am not going to turn on the Roundtable because of the bad publicity they have recently received.
Monica, Gaines wanted to know if you got his story inventory late last week?
LOL Ehyou RAWKS!
IV - No I didn't. I got an email from him asking if he could send me some stories and I said yes, but I never got anything else from him.
How bout this...did Saban's new contract include a buyout clause?
We will try to correct the problem.
Sean- Saban's buyout clause states that he gets Little Debbies for life.
All you gumpites going to see Terrie Saban @ the country club tomorrow?
My prediction? Auburn 35, La Tech 0. We will take no prisoners. These players have something to prove. This will be the first step in a run to the SEC West title. Yes, I still believe in unrealistic expectations!!!
Anybody heard from Faker about his baby girl?
Thanks for the debrief, IV.
How did Jeremy Richardson fare for pratvegas (is that the same pratvegas or a different one?)
Neidermeher..dead, Dooley...dead, Kiffikin...dead, Petrino...dead, Richt...dead, Saban...dead. Take no prisoners Tigers!!!
Scottie B,
You should have my fax.
Sweet looking trucker lid!
got it Aubie. gracias.
Good point there thighmaster! Dammit....I guess I'm part of the problem.
Aeronaut, I was talking about Prattville High School, the 3 time in a row Alabama 6A State Champs playing North Gwinnett, Georgia High School. Final score, NGHS 14, PHS 11. Byrnes S.C. played Central Gwinnett H. S. in the first game of the Progressive National Football Challenge. Final score, Byrnes 43, CGHS 7. I believe that Richardson is a wide receiver for a Lousianna HS.
Monica, Gaines has done a resend and I got them.
IV out for awhile for grocery store run. Food, yum, yum.
IV. My bad.
AU commit Jeremy Richardson is a WR at Springville, AL.
Eddie...you can breathe easier. Steve's unrealistically positive post at 1:59 pm is much further from reality than last week's Debbie Downer posts.
This last week is gonna drive me nuts. Every post I read is like deja vu all over again.....its..its all running together.
We need an actual game to discuss. I'm so burnt out from waiting, that discussing RRod was ordinary when normally that would be entertainment.
We're gonna show Steven Ensminger how much we've improved since we got some real coaching staff.
Rich Rod says he didn't do anything wrong. I guess that puts an end to that.
( Steven Ensminger, the guy that had Auburn scholarship as QB, is now the backup punter for La Tech ).
( I am not talking about the position coach at an SEC school, who is now the qb coach at a very small high school )
Rich Rod is the beacon of morality.
or bacon. I'm not sure.
19 more meaningless posts and I can turn this page.
Wade Christopher thinks substance is overrated.
Aero...
I do expect to show Coach Ensminger that we have upgraded the coaching staff, but couldn't figure what that particular coach had to do with this particular game.
The beacon of bacon?!? Is that anything like the Queen of Eurasia?
George Selvie is still playing at South Florida? I'm pretty sure he's been there for 7 years now.
Selvie was a lowly sophomore when he ripped us one back in '07.
When Urban cried, I snickered but believed him.
When RRod was staring at the floor trying to squeeze out a tear and think of something to say...all I could smell was B..S..
Please don't ever mention that game again. Thank you.
eh.
Steven Ensminger was a scholarship QB at Auburn. He transferred to LA Tech in 08. I think his departure coincided with the arrival of toni franklin.
I know my proper nouns and it is on purpose.
Puppet hour starts soon and I would expect the Queen of
Eurasia to explain who really controls the bacon bidness. Don't ask her about her bidness.
Hokie Hokie Hokie Hi!!!!
Where's my VT ribbon?
That was absolutely the worst fake cry ever wasn't it? His eyes were bone dry and he had a smirk on his face when he looked up... At least pinch your boys or something to get some tears flowing so it looks halfway real.
Spanish soccer on ESPN is annoying. There are at least three sets of announcers talking at the same time right now.
Steven Ensminger transferred in 2007. He was not around for the Tony Franklin shenanigans.
I think I just teared up from the thought of getting the boys pinched.
Anyway, it's too bad Richie didn't take that UAT job in hindsight. I'd think we'd be counting on win no. 8 coming up and singing about Bammer being on probation. Again.
Ensminger had an arm, too.
I thought it was better than Caudle's at the time.
Anyone got the skinny on the weird/sudden Chan Gailey firing in KC?
So why did he transfer? Was he told that he wasn't going to ever have a shot?
Steven Ensminger(Jr) went from 3rd-4th string QB at AU to 2nd string QB at La Tech.
Well....we're moving on up ...to the east side baybie.
Sean,
So sorry I had to leave, friends took me out for lunch for my Bday. Tom is taking me and 4 other couples out tonight. I am going to gain 50 pounds for my 50th!
Anyway, my coke question. Where can I get one of the life size cutouts of Chizik? A friend of mine got one from the local coke guy who stocks Walgreens. I'll stalk a coke guy if I have to, but thought you might give me some pointers. You can email me if you'd rather.
Thanks!
