Caudle named No. 2 quarterback

Hey everyone. I'm the last Auburn beat writer to publish this information, but I have an alibi. I was covering Montgomery Academy's 14-9 win over Catholic tonight. So it goes.

Anyway, junior Neil Caudle has been named Auburn's top reserve quarterback. I know many of you are surprised.

The Head Coach isn't.

``Neil has really come on," coach Gene Chizik said. ``He’s worked really
hard for this. I’m proud of him. The last three or four days he’s
taken a lot of reps and I feel good about where he is as the back-up
right now. If he has a chance to go in a football game we feel he gives
us the best chance to win."

Auburn is off on Saturday. I hope you are as well.

I think a player can only play so much time in the first few games or something before the redshirt is not applicable.

The NCAA site probably has it.

11:10 PM

He can play in 4 games ... "get injured" and "not be able to play" and redshirt, too.

re: redshirt and to fluff up Jet's reply.

You get one redshirt year. It can be either a true redshirt year where you don't play at all, or a medical redshirt year where you play but get hurt (I don't know if there are any "show us the proof" rules re: injury when one applies for a medical redshirt). Redshirts can practice and dress for games. Technically, you aren't a redshirt until after the season is over.

If you play a single down and don't have an injury, you cannot redshirt that year. But if you have an injury early in the year and have played less than 20 percent of the season, you can receive an extra year of eligibility by applying for a medical hardship waiver, also known as a medical redshirt. This is an explanation from last year:
"To receive a medical hardship waiver - in any sport - the injury must limit the student-athlete’s participation to no more than 20 percent of the team’s contests (rounded to the next whole number), with all participation occurring in the first half of the season.
Therefore, for a football player, the maximum number of games that he can play in and still receive a medical hardship waiver is three (20 percent of 12 equals 2.4, which is rounded up to 3), and none of his time on the field can occur after the sixth game."

2.0 leaves Monday afternoon for Italy, where she will be studying sparkly rocks for 7 months. MrsTHT left a few days earlier so she could have a few days of sightseeing (plus it was much cheaper flight). She went for 2 main reasons:
1. she really wanted to go see stuff we missed before
2. taking a suitcase full of 2.0 stuff.

I'll pick her up at ATL on Friday evening.

btw, whole wheat is ok. I don't mind pancakes without syrup, but if I put syrup on them, it has to be maple syrup.

Rather I will be sitting on the couch watching Gameday or some other game while the wifey telling me to get up and get ready to go to her friends wedding. I cannot believe I'm going to miss opening weekend of CFB for a dadblame wedding.
I am not thrilled about this. This week I'll be like a pot of chili in the stove simmering. By Saturday I'll be ready to boil.

10:24 AM
Blogger Quitstina said...

Luv, the area where you tailgate looks pretty much the same. The new student parking lots don't come down that far.

I am a little concerned looking at this year's gameday map. According to it, there are barricades around pretty much the entire perimeter of campus that require a pass (I assume scholarship parking passes). You can still get in at College and Roosevelt, but it seems ridiculous to funnel all traffic through there so I hope the map isn't right.

So, Cincy, while our spots may still be available, getting to them may be the hard part.

Kristina, thanks! So, in other words, we need to get there EARLY, if we want that spot!

Kristina,
We load up the parent's minivan and park it at our spot the night before. We own a condo that our son lives in one block off of campus. Part of his living agreement is he and his roommate have to find another place to park for gameday Saturdays. We drive up as close as we can to our tailgate spot, drop off the food and go park at the condo. The van with all of our tables, chairs, etc is at the tailgate spot. Kind of involved but it has worked the last few years.

This time next week, I'll be strolling the loveliest village on the Plains with all of my friends! It's time to get the game face on!

THT glad your wife arrived safely. My boss travels all the time, and he said Italy is one of his favorites places.

Jet, I hope your wife is better soon. I don't know anyone who has ever been bitten by a brown recluse, but I do know the effects. Those bites, and staph, are both nasty stuff. If it is a bite, does she know where she got it?

Wilhite's little Michael Jackson move after his INT was timely, at least according to google's home page.

On SEC game weekends, we go down really early on Friday morning, play a round of golf at Grand National and then try to get to our tailgating spot before noon. Then, we just sit there until we are allowed to mark it off.

I'm having de'ja vu. Have I already said this?

Cool, Cincy. We park Friday as well, but usually bring another vehicle Saturday morning. Guess we'll find out for sure next week. Either way it's all good because it will be GAMEDAY!!!

Jet, it could be worse. We have a family friend that was bitten by a brown recluse. The spider somehow got in his pants and bit him where, as a man, you wouldn't want to be bitten. It took surgery and skin grafts to save it.
