I was just looking over my 1958 Glomerata at the players on the 1957 team. I am amazed at how far we have come in just over 50 years as far as the size of players. For instance, Jackie Burkett, center, LB (they went both ways back then, no two platoon) 215 lbs. He was the sophomore of the year in the SEC and second team all SEC. Tim Baker OG, DG and team Captain, 195 lbs. Billy "Ace" Atkins, FB, LB, 195 lbs. I could go on but you get the picture.
The Alabama press won't be able to get their licks in on $aban until he substantially slips. That fan base gobbles up too much media to chance alienating.
IV..my grandfather played OT at AU in '26-'27 at a whopping 6'-3", 205#.

You know, I can't remember a more anticipated football season other than possibly 2004. I always get excited about football, but usually I am not this impatient.
I hear that PPL has changed to number 6. It makes good sense. 82 was too big of a number for him.
the past 3 years i have been much more excited b/c we have went down early for Fan Day and got to meet the guys. i haven't really seen guys up close like that since i was in school. i think that and being involved with the HABOTN, Rivals, etc. has helped b/c i feel like i know a lot more now than i used to.
#6 seems to fit him better. i cannot remember ever having more players with duplicate numbers on the team in my life. it just seems odd.
oh, and JGT, that pic IS badass.
