Chizik speaks, 9/13
Hey everyone. I'll gussy this up in a bit.
Let's roll with the substance:
Photo credit: Todd Van Emst/Auburn University
Let's roll with the substance:
- Gene Chizik on the Tigers' special-teams problems: ``We're just not playing well. It's a situation where there are some personnel issues ... and some continuity issues. There's a lot of new names and faces."
- Chizik on the offensive line's play: ``They're getting it. They need to keep playing physical. I haven't bought stock into them yet. I just don't want anybody to get ahead of this thing."
- Chizik on Ziemba being split out wide Saturday and begging for the ball: ``Let me assure you ... that'll never happen no matter how much he yells for it."
- Chizik on Burns as a passer out of the Wildcat: ``He won't be making any throws he's not good at."
- Chizik on the chances of DE Cam Henderson playing this season: ``None. It's some issues that are ... he won't be playing this year."
- Chizik asked if that's his discretion: ``They're pretty much all at my discretion."
- Chizik on Gus Malzahn: ``He's very good at his trade."
- Chizik asked if he feels anything in common with WVU coach Bill Stewart, who also was an an unsuccessful head coach once upon a time: ``I'm really not familiar with the situation at West Virginia. With me, that's so long ago, it's not something I pay a whole lot of credence to. I don't get validation from the outside world."
- Though Chizik won't address Tommy Trott's injury, the chatter here is that Auburn's senior tight end has a (relatively) minor injury to an MCL. If he's dealing with a sprain, he shouldn't be out too long. Maybe two or three weeks?

I think I'll make myself a Troop Towel. I have very cool markers in my artist bag of goodies.
Look at me.
You have magical timing, Norm.
that's what she said
Norm!!! Out of nowhere with a professional page flip!!!
Saw several Trooper Towels last night, but couldn't find one to purchase. That man is excitable. We all need to be waving our towels!
wtc, heard that about the band. There was a lot of uproar and misinformation stated last week. I can understand with this fast-paced offense how the band might need some guidance! It was difficult for them to find any playing time between plays.
On that, I can say you're 100% accurate Omni.
Best line from tonight's True Blood:
"You might have your faults,Andy, but at least you got pants on."
So...does that mean that DL is faultless?
Norm ... Mr. Timing
J-Zhag ... A peanut butter cookie eatin'/chicken and popcorn shootin'/Cornhole stinkin' monster
I have a question. Did anyone else come away from last nights game feeling MSU was more of a mediocre team than you thought they were before we played the?
You asking me THT?
I don't think anybody knows how good MSU is....
Mediocre is good for them.
What is this about popcorn shooting?
JD - I suppose it was rhetorical, just a thought to ponder after Mon's quote from True Blood
IV - I left there thinking they were about as mediocre as I thought they were before the game started.
Sensi,
I think that is why you and I picked it a bit closer than everyone else did. I just feel right now that we beat a team last night that wasn't that good of an SEC team. I agree with you that WVU scares me.
I left the wedding reception thinking they were about as mediocre as always. Speaking of mediocre, wow, that reception was definitely that.
Like I said last night, the popcorn was more of a spray than a shot.
JZ needs to get over here and maybe he can explain it better. In fact I would love to hear what he has to say about that.
I don't count anything as a "sure thing", I do however see some "ought to's" out there.
I'm just sayin'.
Sorry I didn't understand. I've never been a big fan of True Blood. Vampires scare me. I've never read the books though maybe if I did.
I think that we will know a good bit more about the tigers after this week. I love Kool Aid, but I like to sip it slowly.
Norm,
I concur.
K - I think j-zhag is back at home in Destin.
J-Zhag blasted poor Zookeeper with some popcorn, and that was after he shot me with some chicken.
Somewhere in between he proposed marriage to four women, two guys and a peanut butter cookie.
Do any of you guys think vampires are real? The people in the movies never think they are real either. Then they get eaten by vampires.
JD - I have no earthly idea what this True Blood is. I've never seen it or even heard of it.
Small world, huh, Norm? I mean how often do you meet someone who does NOT live in Destin...
Our special teams need some real work. A good team is going to hit us in the mouth if we don't get better on special teams soon.
Zookeeper & Jet got sprayed with food products. I got alcohol & saliva.
Any new inside jokes or stories from this weekend you guys want to tell me? I don't have time to read all the comments.
Michael - it's not a joke, I saw an article about the fart research you are doing.
Well one thing is for certain....The peanut butter cookie will never tell you no.
Fart research? Sounds like alot of hot air to me.
Wait a minute, wait a minute, WAIT A MINUTE! Is Michael doing fart research or rat research? I can't keep up.
Norm, I got sprayed with plenty of the alcohol and saliva too. Trust me
He is doing fart research with rats.
Fom all reports Ive ever heard about Eric Smith, his seems to be a good guy. Im sure he had some aggression pent up from not getting to play last week.
FSJ ...
Actually, the peanut butter cookie got a restraining order. It was amazing.
Recent fart research by me has proven that you can always blame farts on your toddler and escape embarrassment/hate from those around you.
Ok..I don't want any part of that research...
Does anyone know what is Kodi's tattoo on his left arm?
Why the problem w/ Eric Smith being agressive. I want him to hit someone so hard their head pops off and rolls down the sideline. I want the ncaa to create an Eric Smith rule on agressive play. I want to see our defense DE-BONE the other side.
http://www.popsci.com/scitech/article/2009-08/there-scientific-way-measure-fart-smell
AU Big Cat, I sure hope you are right and I am wrong.
K - That's probably the real reason the folks in front of him left.
HAHAHAHA Michael
Sponge - There's a difference in aggressive play and overly aggressive. I pretty sure you knew that already.
True Blood, as I understand it, is what Buffy the Vampire Slayer would have been as softcore porn.
I was encouraged to read that we played 21 or 22 players on defense including 7 LBs. Heck, I didn't know we had 7 healthy LBs.
What channel does this True Blood come on?
Just kidding.
Sensi - I'm not sure. I never watched Buffy and I've never paid attention to the dialouge on True Blood.
I didn't spray anybody with anything that didn't need spraying.
Sensi, you understand it wrong.
HA sensi and Entourage is a day in the life of Jay G Tate!
mon - you're talking about football right?
Ok. Google here I come.
sure, Norm
Hey, vampires, blood, and nekkid chicks. How could that be wrong?
Jeff Driskel was impressed with the game and Malzahn. Coach Malzahn wants the Florida QB BAYUD.
That fart detector is awesome. I mean, we all know farts are really complicated and can't be fully quantified with such a crude contraption, but its a good start.
And seriously, I was hanging out with church people today, and I farted twice and picked up my son and smelled his diaper and said, "Boy, you sure are stinking it up!". They all bought it.
Ok, cuz either way, I don't really have a problem with "overly aggressive".
I'm just sayin'.
If Tony Franklin guest starred, Steve?
How come since the football review was removed from WSFA and put on WCOV in Montgomery it looks like it was filmed on an old Beta camera...
Is Chris Todds facial shadow a tribute to CTF?
did Driskel attend or watch on the tube?
Steve we actually played 7 LBs???
Is Phil Snow still on that?
I have a problem with it when it costs us 15 yards, a touchdown, time in prison, etc.
If Tony Franklin went on True Blood, would he do a topless scene?
This is Div I football. If they don't like it ruff, go play intramurals brother....
Mon, too agressive gets a penalty. Anything legal I'm good with. I just want to see our D bring the heat when they tackle, or our O take the hit to the opposing D. The mo the betta.
Oh, you're talking about football again. Sometimes, my mind wanders to other topics.
Driskel and his Dad actually attended as invited by Malzahn.
Chris Todd's shadow is hot, nothing about tony franklin is even warm.
Was I, Norm? Are you sure?
Sensi, I wish the picture was clear enough that I could positively ID anyone who is on this show.
This comment has been removed by the author.
JD what do you think about E's girlfriend? She sort of creeps me out for some reason.
Otis's team laid the wood on Memphis
MonD Tony Franklin's throat is warm...with George Dickel
Did you guys see the game yesterday? That was fun.
not that there's anything wrong with that...
CANKLE!
That is all.
By the way mon. how did you get my pic on your blog thingy.
I had it on my phone from when we...uh...nevermind.
Mon I haven't turned on Entourage yet. It's DVRing.I will watch after the AU Football Review.I have previously stated that E's GF makes me think that Chris Hanson will show up on the season finale and ask E to, "have a seat right here."
How many people have claimed to be your picture so far, Mon? I get the feeling some of them may be lying.
JD hahahahahahahahahaha
EXACTLY!
the fart detector would have been useful in the stadium last night. someone around us would have been pegging out the meter. it was like some old man had been saving it up since the 1930s just for that particular moment. i thought the kid behind us had pooped his pants, but it came and went intermittently throughout the game and i imagine it would have been steady had the kid been the culprit.
i know i'm gonna get in trouble with jgt for starting the poop stuff, but the story is relevant to the thread and kinda funny.
if you know who it was, punch 'em in the neck for me and my wife.
Michael - I don't judge.
Game? What game?
I know Mon's avatar ain't me.
It was established yesterday that I am FAH! But FAH is not fast.
And we wonder why the upper deck wasn't full.
Chip has discovered the reason.
Chip - I couldn't help it. I have a medical condition (as far as you know).
ok, fine. That's me in Mon's avatar. I'm the flabby old guy hiding behind the stud.
How much longer do we have remaining on the Under Armour contract?
Michael. We are a fit group in here, us hotties. Haven't you been paying attn to all those marathon runners, early morning workout kings.
3 years? I think.
so, has flatulence ever been such a hot topic on HABOTN? I'm glad I finally could contribute something of substance.
Was yesterday's stadium not filled up? That is disappointing. I guess the Season of Death really did a number on the fan base.
If, and I repeat if, our offense holds the ball and makes the WVU defense work as hard as they have in the 2 games so far, I have a feeling we will have a good shot. Our D HAS been able to come up with a few 3 and outs, albeit against LaTech (who at one time some were claiming had a better D than MSU) and MSU (which we were reminded IS still an SEC team). We may win in a shoot out, we may win in a landslide, and there is that chance if we don't show up, we don't win at all. But I find it VERY hard to believe that our coaches will not have gotten more improvement in this team over the next week for us to not be fully prepared.
~ Tommy "Remaining cautiously optimistic and thrilled with the results so far" D
I am so proud of Phillip Lobbinboogers. Nice TD catch!
30-benton!
So those aren't Mon's pec's?
Regarding the under armour contract. Except for the click clack commercial, I don't recall seeing AU advertised by them at all. I think it ended when we hired the drunken sailor. I mean, come on. Anyone envision tony franklin in under armour.
There were around 85,000 supposedly there last night.
Video ETA: 10:05 p.m. CDT.
any truth to a rumor I heard about higher incidence of foot injuries with UnderArmour? Are the cleats also underarmour?
Spongeworthy nothing turns people off of underarmour like man boobs...
Here is the thing... our D struggled yesterday after we did a couple of three and outs. Whenever our offense drove, our D was awesome. I think the secret to our D is success on offense. We are too thin for our D to win many 3-2 games this year.
I think W Va is in tha bag. We win by 20.
Tommy - maybe yes, maybe no
Tar. The cleats are Under Armour. Tristan Davis had to get special permission last year to wear something else that actually fit his foot and provided protection
Yes THT. I know players initally complained about the cleats not gripping as well.
No truth to the rumor that J-Zhag has been hired to use his spraying skills to hose the UGA fans after next season's game.
THT - I had a friend on the team at the time of the switch who claimed the Under Armour cleats were much better than the ones they previously used. He was a lineman though.
There's another one for ya, Michael.
hahahahahahahahaaaaaaa
Okay ladies, gents and Michael/Queen - I'm going to bed, I'm tired after my long drive back to Destin last night. Have fun. Sleep tight and as always...
Keep Hate Alive.
so who is J-Zhag? Did the two of them mate and have offspring?
night Norm
I've noticed that Chiz doesn't always wear UA. I wonder if he may make a push for another provider like Nike.
IV,
Did anyone not think that Miss State was mediocre at best anyway?
Usually they peak out at mediocre.
camel and ostrich races in Arizona. Something about watching a man on an ostrich that cracks me up.
Good night, Norm.
Of course I'll keep the hate alive. I may have an XY pair, but all my other chromosomes are shaped like little AU logos. And every time a cell mitoses, all my mitochondria yell "WAR EAGLE!!!" How could I help but hate UA-T!!!??? 24/7 It's what I do.
Michael ...
I consider Jhag the "Ladies Man in Residence" of the HABOTN.
Well, J-Z was quite the suave and debonair type that Sean Connery could only hope to be during his visit to AU. At least three married HOTTIES considered leaving their spouses for him -- one them being Norm.
It seemed appropriate to rename him J-Zhag ... at least temporarily.
Good point RK. I mean, we kicked butt on some directional school in LA an the MSU dawgs. I like what I see, but I want to see more.
My mitochondria all yell "Hotties Hoooooo!!!!!!!!"
La Tech has never been directional. They've always been adrift in the college football world.
So Jet, what kind of moves was j-zhag using?
If we do the same thing this week, then we'll start getting some attention.
I posted earlier. The worst thing yesterday that happened to our D was Coleman scoring that TD, it kept them on the field for a long time.
The best thing that happened to our D yesterday was getting that punt blocked because it kept them from immediately going back on the field after being out there most of the quarter.
Before the season started I didn't think WVU was going to be our first "real test". I've changed my mind.
Here is the thing I like about our offense - by increasing the number of plays run in the game, we increase the sample size and make it more likely that we will beat an inferior team due to the high sample size. The scary flip side of that is that when we finally run into a team with more talent, we will increase the sample size and make it more likely that we lose.
Michael ...
YOu'll have to read the book or rent the movie.
Who DID you think was going to be our first real test lady Mon?
Since I don't live in WV, I don't see any WVU highlights like Monica does.
All I see are results and it just looks like a team that has struggled with opponents who aren't on their level.
They have speed, more than we have seen yet, but I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be able to push them around.
I think wvu will be a very real test. We haven't seen their speed yet, on offense or defense. I'm not sure McCalebb will be the fastest kid on the block in this game.
Sleep well, HOTTIES and HABOTNistas.
Michael - since I never understood sample size and chi tests and all that other fake stuff, I'm going to just continue to think that mo is bettah
Tommy - Tennessee
i like our chances against WVU much more now that they don't have pat white or richrod and we don't have nallsminger running the show. i think AU was in shock that they scored 17 points so early and easily last year and then they remembered the offensive coordinator(s) actually did suck.
i hope oku had a chance to watch what he turned down at AU after UT lost at home to UCLA yesterday and looked bad doing it.
A win against Liberty and a win against E Carolina. I guess decisive wins. They won by double digits, although they gave up 20 to both. I wonder how long it will be before we can tell how good teams are really going to be?
new thread, btw, a JGT Video Production
Y'all are AUsome, talk to you again Monday. War Eagle!
NEWSFLASH: for the folks that are already complaining about coach speak.......ALL good coaches do it.
Just in case this never occured to you......Coaches don't want to give out any info that is not necessary. Security of sensitive team data is important. Privacy laws prevent some of this from legally being allowed to be released.
I would have a real problem with the coach if he did answer those questions candidly. Check your selfish thirst for info and think about it for a minute and quit whining about it.
Roof saying "we're all in" is typical of what is so wonderful about this season. They committed to what they were going to do and are doing it. I am so proud of these coaches and players for coming together.
