First Post: Thursday of Week Four

Hey everyone. Looks like more rain is on its way to central Alabama, which means the Tigers could be looking at another wet weekend. So it goes.

I was just watching a replay of the Ball State @ Army game from last week. The winless Cardinals didn't look all that bad to me, but I suppose you have to consider the level of competition. Maybe my 95-7 prediction for this weekend's game is a bit off.

Just joshin'. My real pick is Auburn 63, Ball State 10.

Here's the Auburn situation at this moment:

However, Toot's Restaurant in Murfreesboro does have really good fried dill pickles, so it could be worth the trip. Maybe we'll just alter the trip to Learjet, direct route, and just you, me, and j-z. That's assuming j-z's probation allows him to fly / cross state lines.

I wish I had more time to spend in London. I was only there for parts of a few days. I was in a little city called Horsham the rest of the time. I did like the British rail system. We walked or road the train wherever we went. It was a trip to be riding on a train and see a castle or castle ruins along the way. It was just incredible. We talked to a lady who's home was built in the 1700s. Everyone here that has a home that was build in the 1700s, please raise your hands.

4:23 PM
Blogger Scott Chocolate said...

Ah, Florence - site of the worst driving experience of my life! I had this big plan to circle the outskirts of the city and drive directly to my hotel. Instead, I took a wrong turn and ended up in the middle of the city during rush hour (in pre-GPS days). I think there was some divine intervention that finally got us to the hotel. I was about ready to abandon the car.

I almost hit a ferrari in a parking deck last week. It was illegally parked on the end (you know, where they have those diagonal yellow lines) and partially sticking out into the lane. I came around the corner and skreeaaacchh (not really, I was going 5mph, more like pshshhh). I looked at it, muttered something derogatory under my breath and drove away. I shoulda nailed it but couldn't bring myself to purposefully damage such a beautiful car, whether the owner deserved it or not.

5:47 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

It is hard to pull for anyone in this game because there are two of my favorite coaches to watch on the sidelines.

When we use to play Spurrier's Gators, I thought there should be something in the box score that listed the number of times he threw his visor.

As for Nutt, he has the most wonderful paniced expressions in college football. He is somewhere between Jack Nicholson in The Shining and reverend Ernest Angley, He is special.

5:58 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I suppose I must pull for the Cocks, no matter how strange that might sound. Ole Nutt is in the west and a loss by them helps our chances of being in the top half of the SEC West. Besides, I live in Columbia, SC; so it is probably the politically correct thing to do.

I'm pulling for Spurrier tonight...

6:10 PM
Blogger Fearless Freep said...

I had the good fortune to be amongst the 40 thousand witnesses to the dismantling of Spurrier's 1992 Gator squad get by King Jackie and MSU in Stark Vegas.

As the game got out of hand in the 2nd half, I stopped watching the game and concentrated on the Ole Ball Coach. If you've never had the opportunity to see him when his team is getting blown out, he goes into this peculiar shell on the sidelines (this is long after he's given up on throwing his visor). He spoke to no one, and no one spoke to him. He usually wasn't even paying attention to the field, but will become immensely interested in staring off into space, or at the ground. At one point he picked up a loose blade of grass and inspected it intently.

I always assumed back then that he was already thinking about his next opponent. Now, a decade and a half later, I'll bet when he's losing big like that he's thinking about retirement.

6:12 PM
