First Post: Wednesday of Week Four

Hey everyone. Tuesday was fun. I expected The TV People to ask Chizik about Trooper Taylor, whom Paul Finebaum portrayed as racist, but that didn't happen. I didn't ask because I don't think the ESPN clip included any untoward language -- let alone racist rhetoric.

As noted yesterday, O-A News ace Andrew Gribble went on Paul Finebaum's show yesterday and wasn't asked about Trooper Taylor. I find that odd. I also consider that confirmation that Finebaum knows the story isn't legitimate. He doesn't want to get crossed up by someone on the ground in Auburn. See what I mean?

I hope you saw last night's video. It was a funny one.

Here's the Auburn situation at this moment:

I'm just going to disagree with you on this one Steve. I think MTSU is and has been average at best in their conference for the past several years. LSU has been at the top of the conference.

I was comparing their strengths in relation to their conference. In football Memphis has not been a power, and never made it to their conference championship, which puts them in the realm of a Kentucky, Vandy or until the recent Nuttiness,Ole Miss. Its a comparison if you will.

I think Tony Franklin could have been successful at Auburn under the right conditions. However, they were that absolute wrong conditions, the wrong time and the wrong place for T. F. and his offense. Chris Todd and the totally new coaching staff are the real differences in this and the 2008 Auburn team IMHO.

6:08 PM
Blogger Norm said...

I don't necessarily think AU belongs in the Top 25 yet and barring a fair number of upsets this weekend, I don't think they'll be there next week. Now, win that next game then let's talk.

Team chemistry is definitely a big difference this season. Todd is like night and day too. Yes, I thought he would be the starter, but if you had told me we would have to beat WV on Todd's arm, I would have placed my money on WV.

6:13 PM
Blogger mytommyd said...

Although I did do a check and MTSU has beaten Vandy 3 times in the last 10 years, which would all be without TF.Evidently MTSU has been towards the top of the Sunbelt. Kinda like Troy has been recently. Perhaps his system works better with that level. Kind of like why nobody uses an option in the pros.

Jay,

Do you think PPL, alias "Frenchy", will see the field this year?

6:19 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

IV, I have to agree with that. It isn't that any of the offensive coaches were bad, but it was a poor mix. There is a lot of blame to go around, including Franklin, Tuberville, and the assistants.

The important thing here is to realize we weren't as bad in terms of talent as many thought. I read numerous people say we didn't have the talent. That was a load of crap.

There is an example of this with Ball State. They have a tailback that gained over 1700 yards last year. He must be a good tailback, but he is having a rough season. He has around 150 yards after three games. What was the difference there? Probably the fact 4 of his offensive linemen left. Our issue was team chemistry, but even great players need others around them making plays.

6:20 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I had hoped we would see PPL in the kicking/punting game. Surely we will see him somewhere this season. He redshirted last season.
