Starting page two with substance
Hoopie: Already done.
Michael: He was invited for big cat weekend. I don't know if he came or not.
How could anybody possibly think that Aycock could do better than the people we have on the field. That's just insane.
I do think Aycock will be featured in the Wildcat later on in his career, but from what I've read, he needs the Scout team reps.
Frame - your question was addressed yesterday, you must've missed it. "FAH" = fast as hell, which is how Sportswriter Tate described him when asked how he'd fit into the offense.
I agree with Phred. Aycock can be great, but he is not in great shape and needs the year under Yox IMO.
Thanks Aero. My how the worm turns.
I'll forgive a 17 year old for being impressionable. As far aa being uncomfortable...I guess you are worried about spying or influencing others?...CGC & Co. ain't stoopid, so why be paranoid. If there is a problem, the coaches will deal with it without the need for our speculation to prompt them...sooooo I don't see any benefit in speculating such.
"It is what it is"....couldn't resist that.
FAH seems like a very accurate description of Mr. McCalebb.
Eddie..get on the Aycock Train..wooo...wooo!
BTW...I was messing around. I seriously believe in redshirting. There is physical and mental growth normally needed for 18 year olds in order to handle the SEC. My guess is that OMac would not have been ready to play in fall 2008.
Thanks Norm.
Literally right after I asked that question again today, Fast As Hell popped in my head. It was almost like someone sent it telepathically.
I did. You're welcome.
PROTECT THIS COUCH!
Notable Newcomer! I promise I won't let this go to my head. Now where's my coffee?
Yeah Right Bro, i'll be hearing about this for awhile.
Speaking of redshirts, any word on if/when they will redshirt Mr Rollison. How long can they wait before they tag him with the redshirt status?
I hate conference calls on financial sector regulation. But I hate UAT more.
I was cheating on the HABOTN and read the following. LSU has won 31 consecutive night games in Baton Rouge. It also mentioned they've lost their last 3 day games there.....but 31 in a row at night? Can that be accurate?
I HATE that I can't get on the HABOTN in my office anymore!
JGT - What was the final score of the Man U game. I don't want to watch the replay
tommyD: you don't need to declare redshirt till the end of season... or at least that's what I understand.
I don't think redshirting players is a priority when you have 75 scholarship athletes. If Aycock can block on punt returns, throw him in.
I might be wrong, but I think as long as he doesn't play, they don't have to officially call it a redshirt until after the season. My gut feeling is that Caudle's fine as the backup as long as Todd is healthy. If Todd gets hurt, I don't see Caudle being the starter. I think Tyrik being 3rd string is just Chizik and crew's strategy for managing expectations.
Hornet = Blog Whore.
AU1NO4, United won on Tuesday (in the glory of Fox Sports HD I might add) 1-0 in Instanbul.
Thanks Bro!
I don't have that in HD. Do you have Direct TV?
Mitch Mustain is now a punter for USC.
I couldn't be happier for the young man. What else would one of the highest rated high school QBs want more than becoming a punter for USC? nothing, I say, nothing.
I heard Mitch Mustain's mother has called and chewed out Pete Carrol for not making Mitch the starting punter immediately.
No problem. I don't have Direct TV. I have Comcrap, so it's shocking to me that I have Fox Sports HD, but I'll roll with it.
I HAVE A BOX FULL OF HABOTN HATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's going to be awesome is when Mustain still forges an NFL career out of a third string QB position at USC. Doesn't hurt for recruiting.
Come to USC, you may or may not get any playing time at the QB position, but you'll still parlay that into a mutli-million dollar deal (Matt Cassel) in the NFL.
WOOOHOOO SCOTTIEB!!!!
I would like to thank Mr. JGTate for including me in the list of Notables.
I always knew my lack of substance would get me somewhere.
now that i've got the caps and have my plans set for tomorrow morning i'm getting that anxious/nervous/excited feeling in my belly. i can't wait to get in the car & jet outta here!
At least Pete Carrol's wife won't threaten "beating MMs mom with a 2x4 while she was being treated for injuries sustained after being beaten by a 2x4"
where do we meet you Scottie?
Please stand and sing:
Here we go, Auburn, here we go!
clap clap
I'm hoping to hear a lot of "Kernkraft 400" played tomorrow night!!!!
Great news Scottie! I needed that...
I thought you guys were joking about the Mitch Mustain punter thing. I stand corrected, in slight disbelief. All I can think of now is the storied history of Todd Marinovich
Mitch Mustain is a sad case. I wonder how much he is used by people recruiting against Arkansas. I suppose now that Arkansas is Nuttless, it isn't as appropriate.
5 star QB Recruit class:
Mustain...malcontent at Arky. on the bench at USC
Stafford...starts Fr,So and Jr year @ UGA and is the 2009 #1 draft pick.
Tebow...1 or 2 Heismans/MNCs and probable 2-3 round draft pick.
Recruiting = A Box of Chocolates
Arkansas is Nuttless
Thank you Steve
Wow, Chris Low's lunchtime link to Jay G's excellent article on Grimes and the OL is a little misleading. Says Low:
"Offensive line coach Jeff Grimes directs Auburn's offensive line down the right path with a healthy dose of toughness, writes Jay G. Tate of The Montgomery Advertiser."
Ms. Hoopie and I are considering going to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra. We're NW of Atl and the closest venues are Bham and Greeville,Sc. Bham is Sat, Jan 2 sooo...we'll be going to Greenville.
Jan. 2 is not a good date for a concert in a CFB crazy town like Bham....what were ya thinkin'.
Buttons for the game tomorrow night ...
"BANJO BEATDOWN!"
Is there anything better than homemade blueberry muffins straight out of the oven? Well, yes there are, but these are pretty dang good.
being 3-0 on Sunday is better than blueberry muffins.......but that's about it
I'm just glad to be on Chris Low's lunchtime links. Sounds impressive.
I spent some time between charelston and hunington west virginia and their was nothing there but tity bars.
and a k-mart
Grimes is interesting. He sounds way too touchy feely liberal can't we all just get along, but he has produced wonderful results.
I do like his message of accountability, but I am use to the offensive line coach that isn't afraid to go to the whip.
By the way, did anyone know that Tulsa ran a 3-3-5 defense and Malzahn got to see a lot in practices?? I think that will be very helpful come Saturday night.
Did someone say titty? Oh, high paulmain.
After all, Jay G, you're likely stunned he would mention your name due to insane jealousy, since you will soon be higher than him in the ESPN stratosphere.
Or so I'm told. What say you?
Eddie, I am hoping we take advantage of that 3-3-5. Yes, it is probably good for pass coverage and possibly blitz packages, but if we just had a big powerful runningback that could run over small DBs, we should have a chance. Wait, what about that Tate guy?
I would like to commend JZ on his effective use of mental telepathy.
Paulmain ...
If you think that's impressive, give him a box of popcorn.
I'll make my move when I decide it's time. Chris Low is one of the good guys. I'll take care of him.
By the way, I am convinced that a the only defense that will be able to stop us will be one that goes man to man. There is just too many moving parts to try to go zone. So, let WV go man and find someone that can tackle Tate one on one. If they have that, they still have to have someone that can keep up with FAH. It is a tall order.
Then there is Todd. My gut tells me that he could be the deciding factor in this game. As long as he continues to make smart decisions, we are good.
Man, missed the music talk. How can y'all discuss great bands and Poco not come up? Unbelievable.
Jet - I tried to post the same comment type comment twice and just didn't like either so I never entered them. Yours was way better than what I had.
So, what does Sportswriter Tate say about going to work for Worldwide Leader? Has he considered how cold it is in Bristol, CT? I don't like the cold, but then I don't work for ESPN.
It's worth remembering that Grimes was at CU-Boulder before. I live out in Denver and have been up there numerous times. It's left of left (which I dig as a liberal, but still a bit much).
For CU games, they have VIP parking for their bicyclists.
That's not a joke.
I love some Rose of Cimmaron
Excuse me, valet parking for their cyclists. Point still made.
If we ever really have death panels, I am going to immediately apply to be on one. I think that would be a cool job.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Highly touted sports writer Jay G. Tate made today his most definitive statement regarding widely speculated negotiations between the HABOTN King and ESPN.
"I'll make my move when I decide it's time," Tate posted on HABOTN, his blog. "Chris Low is one of the good guys. I'll take care of him."
Low is ESPN.com's Southeastern Conference correspondent, and presumably would report to Tate in some future arrangement.
Tate did not return a phone call seeking elaboration on his comments.
Michael isn't that what a jury is?
Low links to JGT articles frequently lately. I wonder if it has anything to do with the e-mail I sent reminding him of Tate's writing prowess.
I doubt it, he probably just thinks I'm weird.
Mrs. Jet served on a death panel. She was the foreperson. The accused had hired a dude to kill his mother and brother so he could get his hands on some land.
They voted to send the dude into the loving arms of Yellow Mama.
She reminds me of that from time to time.
I just passed some couch burners on campus.
I hate myself for my pick even more.
Jet...
RE: the reference I made to Roseanne Roseannadanna, in the words of Emily Litella -
Nevermind.
"I'm sorry, it won't happen again....B**ch!"
what about that guy in Utah who stepped up in some contest and hit a hole in one and walked of with 1 million smakeroos
I have never really considered the possibilities of a HABOTN/ESPN merger. Michael, what would puppet hour be like on live TV?
I was thinking more along the lines of death panels deciding if sick people are allowed to live or die. Juries are a passe form of a death panel.
Jet - your wife is hardcore!
Steve:
"Countdown with Keith Olbermann"
Does anyone else act busy at work while in reality they are not doing anything but surfing the HABOTN?
Puppet Hour on ESPN would be me and whoever else doing a fake sportscenter. Complete randomness would ensue. It would be canceled after three weeks. All the good shows are.
One recurring bit would be the sportcenter anchor reciting gibberish with a picture of an athlete in the top corner like you are talking a real story, and then throwing it to a correspondent at a field or whatever who then also speaks gibberish, who then throws it back to the sportscenter anchor who then thanks the reporter in gibberish.
By the way, did Barry McKnight ever pick a better year to drop the "Troy could beat Auburn" on the masses?
That one blew up like The Godfather.
(love ya Barry)
It would be like Howdy Doody Time with mikey moobelle dancing on the side
paulmain...
shhhhhh. (whisper) You don't have to say it out loud like that.
Barry McKnight? Who is that? Wasn't he on the Brady Bunch?
paul- What is this work thing you speak of???
War Eagle Extra has posted their analysis of the AU/WV game.
Sensi....Hate Bama not your pick.
Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
You're not a Bammer are you?
Yes, Sensi, it is undoubtedly somehow the fault of UA-T that you picked the way you did. KEEP HATE ALIVE, but direct it at UA-T, not yosef
Sensi,
I say that Troy's struggles the are related to the Karma of the preseason hype. Similar to the same karma bug that bit AU in 2003.
Hoopie and THT
You are right.
I grew up surrounding by the Bammers. The torment of that has skewed me.
ZOMBIE NATION!!!!!!
ok, Kristina has agreed to let me disperse HABOTN caps at her & Kirby's tailgate spot. let's do this at 3:00 Auburn time. if you have any problems with that let me know and we can make other arrangements.
BEAT WVA!
Scottie B- Zombie nation beats the crap out of Bon Jovi.
Almost anything beats the crap out of Bon Jovi.
RK- I wish someone could explain that to our student section and all others at the games. I boo it everytime I hear it.
Eddie, i downloaded it on my ipod for my run with Tucker yesterday morning. i was pretty pumped up. :)
hopefully we'll be Livin on Gus all year and not a Prayer. all those prayers last year didn't help.
Eddie and Sensi, forget to tell y'all that when I was at the Texas-Wyoming game last weekend, they played Bon Jovi's "Dead or Alive" right before the game and the student section went crazy. But (A) they're the Cowboys, so the song kind of makes sense; (B) it's the theme song for Deadliest Catch; and (C) it's just a great song. Period. The end.
When is Tigerwalk tomorrow?
Scottie B- I like Zombie Nation, but i'm also hooked on the Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling". That is the perfect song before kickoff, just as they did before La Tech.
Bro- I can buy that. Livin' on a prayer needs to go bye bye in the worst way possible.
(note to self: put LIVING ON A PRAYER on the back of Eddie's next HABOTN tee.)
Troy's troubles have been based upon their inability to cope with the loss of Tony Franklin.
Runaway was the best Sambora guitar solo imho
Note to Scottie - put influenced by Bammers on mine
Sensi, don't tempt me!
To be honest, I've always been kind of impartial to Metallica's "Enter Sandman" as a song to play right before kickoff. Get jacked up when I hear that.
If Living on A Prayer goes - so does friking Crazy Train
Scottie- Might as well put a Script A on their while you are at it.
I want a shirt that says,
"Please 36-0ing me. Really. It Never gets old"
HATE UAT
mytommyd,
Tiger Walk is always 2:00 hours prior to kick off. Give or take a couple mins.
Yea, Crazy Train is stupid. It should obviously be replaced with Iron Man!!!
I vote for Indestructible as a pump up song.
If any Hotties are at high school games in the Montgomery, Troy, Auburn, Tallassee area tonight, email me and I'll send you my phone #.
I would appreciate any score updates you could send my way via voice or text.
I'll be running the board/scores for the Tallassee Tigers.
This comment has been removed by the author.
By the way, notice that the stock market is still going up, confirming my suspicion that the economy is tied directly to the success of Auburn football.
Thank you Wade
I don't know about a current replacement, but last year it should have been "Send in the Clowns" by Judy Collins. Horrible.
Norm- LOL
Or - "I'm gonna hire a wino to redecorate our home"
quarter til 4 and I'm sneaking out early, with blessings of my coworkers. Off to pick up MrsTHT and then on to Newnan!
WARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
War Eagle THT
WDE THT
Let's run the snake. Time to get fired up!
Off to Auburn and dinner with our son. Have a great night, hotties!!
nite Cincy.
safe travels THT.
Hello Hot-n-tots! Im sitting in my Opelika office and I see SUNSHINE out of my window!!!
Oh and did someone say that Tulsa runs the 3-3-5 D??? Well let me just add about 14 more points and another 100 yards of offense to my AU score prediction. lol
Our local HS stadium/band has done the "Zombie Nation" thing for several years. I'm old and therfore had no idea what it is called. I'm OK with ZN.
I vote for "Here Comes the Sun" by the Beatles for the intro music...
Auburn Daily EXTRA
Roberts nominated for Auburn Board of Trustees
Ben Tom "B.T." Roberts of Mobile was nominated today to complete the term of the late John C.H. "Jack" Miller Jr. on the Auburn University Board of Trustees. If confirmed by the Alabama Senate, Roberts will represent Choctaw, Clarke, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe, Washington and Wilcox counties on the Auburn Board through May 10, 2012. Roberts was selected for the position in a unanimous vote by the Auburn University Trustee Selection Committee, which includes Gov. Bob Riley, two members of the Auburn Alumni Association's Board of Directors and two Auburn trustees. Roberts is president of Roberts Brothers Commercial and Property Management Inc. in Mobile. He graduated from Auburn in 1972 with a degree in industrial management and has been active in Auburn alumni and development activities for many years.
Mr. Roberts will do just fine.
I wonder if I will get a write up when I am nominated to be on the Alabama Death Panel.
Nice article about our RBs by, you guessed it, Chris Low.
(He obviously doesn't know about Shrimp and Grits yet.)
Sensi ...
Heading to Opp for the STJ-Opp bloodbath.
Will text you ... as it affects Elmore County and Holtville in the playoff chase.
"I can pound you inside and then I can make you miss and take it outside as well," Tate said. "And then after beating you down for a while, you have Onterio come in, and he’s just a blur. He’s so fast. You’ve got to run around and chase him for a while."
-from Low's article
Where's rk??? See, even Ben Tate agrees with me! Tate first, McIrishman later! I win! I win!
Thanks, Jet.
I can text message you how much catfish I am eating tonight if you want to put that on the scoreboard, sensi.
Sensi - give me your digits and I'll text you about the fine steak dinner I'm having with just the Mrs while the son is off at a sitter. It'll be much better than catfish details.
Nothing wrong with catfish though. This filet will be way better than catfish and more expensive so it'd better be better.
Indeed Norm, no argument there. However, I am actually being an involved parent and taking the wife and kids to one of those catfish places where they flip the cornbread. Don't worry though Auburnites, I will be telling everyone there that the Cock of the Walk waiters do it much better.
Well, I'm all for family night out, we do it regularly every week. We also manage to get maybe one night out of the month where it's only adults. And since this is my birthday week, I get to pick where we go. So, pretty nice steak it is.
Michael, I agree. Tate's style of running is much more punishing than FAH and he will get more carries. Saving some of FAH's carries until later in the game when the defense is worn out makes more sense.
I read the Chris Low article and ended up sipping a little kool-aid. Tate says CGM still has a lot up his sleeve and I'm wondering if my "38-35 last one to score..wins" prediction is too pessimistic.
I think Malzahn has more he can do offensively than he would ever ask this offense to do. I think he has said that everything will have been seen by about game 5, but I take that to mean everything they are going to install, except the stuff for Bama.

Of course there is more to the offense. We haven't even show the whole package where Todd actually throws it to Ziemba in that funky formation. There's much gold yet to be mined.
Enjoy the steak, Norm.
Enjoy the fish, Michael.
Just found out that our IT folks are going to be doing some major work this weekend across campus, which means I will be without Internet access starting at 8pm CDT tonight, and possibly extended through my work hours tomorrow night as well.
In which case, I am counting on the rest of the HOTTIES to keep the faith and will us to a victory over the livingroom furniture arsonists.
WAR EAGLE!
Dang, this place really goes dead right after puppet hour. . .
I just read that Montez Billings just left the team!!
Best of Luck to you Montez!
Montez Billings
Thanks Big Cat. That whole situation was bizarre. Never did understand it.
I'm on my way to cover a football game. Sorry for the (very slight) delay on the Billings situation.
New thread up.
