How could anybody possibly think that Aycock could do better than the people we have on the field. That's just insane.

I do think Aycock will be featured in the Wildcat later on in his career, but from what I've read, he needs the Scout team reps.

Frame - your question was addressed yesterday, you must've missed it. "FAH" = fast as hell, which is how Sportswriter Tate described him when asked how he'd fit into the offense.

I agree with Phred. Aycock can be great, but he is not in great shape and needs the year under Yox IMO.

Thanks Aero. My how the worm turns.

I'll forgive a 17 year old for being impressionable. As far aa being uncomfortable...I guess you are worried about spying or influencing others?...CGC & Co. ain't stoopid, so why be paranoid. If there is a problem, the coaches will deal with it without the need for our speculation to prompt them...sooooo I don't see any benefit in speculating such.

"It is what it is"....couldn't resist that.

12:08 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

FAH seems like a very accurate description of Mr. McCalebb.

Eddie..get on the Aycock Train..wooo...wooo!

BTW...I was messing around. I seriously believe in redshirting. There is physical and mental growth normally needed for 18 year olds in order to handle the SEC. My guess is that OMac would not have been ready to play in fall 2008.

12:13 PM

JGT - What was the final score of the Man U game. I don't want to watch the replay

12:28 PM
Blogger Aeronaut said...

tommyD: you don't need to declare redshirt till the end of season... or at least that's what I understand.

I don't think redshirting players is a priority when you have 75 scholarship athletes. If Aycock can block on punt returns, throw him in.

12:29 PM
Blogger j-z said...

I might be wrong, but I think as long as he doesn't play, they don't have to officially call it a redshirt until after the season. My gut feeling is that Caudle's fine as the backup as long as Todd is healthy. If Todd gets hurt, I don't see Caudle being the starter. I think Tyrik being 3rd string is just Chizik and crew's strategy for managing expectations.

What's going to be awesome is when Mustain still forges an NFL career out of a third string QB position at USC. Doesn't hurt for recruiting.

Come to USC, you may or may not get any playing time at the QB position, but you'll still parlay that into a mutli-million dollar deal (Matt Cassel) in the NFL.

Wow, Chris Low's lunchtime link to Jay G's excellent article on Grimes and the OL is a little misleading. Says Low:

Or so I'm told. What say you?

1:46 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Eddie, I am hoping we take advantage of that 3-3-5. Yes, it is probably good for pass coverage and possibly blitz packages, but if we just had a big powerful runningback that could run over small DBs, we should have a chance. Wait, what about that Tate guy?

By the way, I am convinced that a the only defense that will be able to stop us will be one that goes man to man. There is just too many moving parts to try to go zone. So, let WV go man and find someone that can tackle Tate one on one. If they have that, they still have to have someone that can keep up with FAH. It is a tall order.

Then there is Todd. My gut tells me that he could be the deciding factor in this game. As long as he continues to make smart decisions, we are good.

It's worth remembering that Grimes was at CU-Boulder before. I live out in Denver and have been up there numerous times. It's left of left (which I dig as a liberal, but still a bit much).

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Highly touted sports writer Jay G. Tate made today his most definitive statement regarding widely speculated negotiations between the HABOTN King and ESPN.

"I'll make my move when I decide it's time," Tate posted on HABOTN, his blog. "Chris Low is one of the good guys. I'll take care of him."

Low is ESPN.com's Southeastern Conference correspondent, and presumably would report to Tate in some future arrangement.

Tate did not return a phone call seeking elaboration on his comments.

1:58 PM
Blogger paulmain said...

Michael isn't that what a jury is?

1:59 PM
Blogger ehyou said...

I doubt it, he probably just thinks I'm weird.

Puppet Hour on ESPN would be me and whoever else doing a fake sportscenter. Complete randomness would ensue. It would be canceled after three weeks. All the good shows are.

2:07 PM

One recurring bit would be the sportcenter anchor reciting gibberish with a picture of an athlete in the top corner like you are talking a real story, and then throwing it to a correspondent at a field or whatever who then also speaks gibberish, who then throws it back to the sportscenter anchor who then thanks the reporter in gibberish.

Auburn Daily EXTRA

Roberts nominated for Auburn Board of Trustees
Ben Tom "B.T." Roberts of Mobile was nominated today to complete the term of the late John C.H. "Jack" Miller Jr. on the Auburn University Board of Trustees. If confirmed by the Alabama Senate, Roberts will represent Choctaw, Clarke, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe, Washington and Wilcox counties on the Auburn Board through May 10, 2012. Roberts was selected for the position in a unanimous vote by the Auburn University Trustee Selection Committee, which includes Gov. Bob Riley, two members of the Auburn Alumni Association's Board of Directors and two Auburn trustees. Roberts is president of Roberts Brothers Commercial and Property Management Inc. in Mobile. He graduated from Auburn in 1972 with a degree in industrial management and has been active in Auburn alumni and development activities for many years.

Michael, I agree. Tate's style of running is much more punishing than FAH and he will get more carries. Saving some of FAH's carries until later in the game when the defense is worn out makes more sense.
