I see where LaFell from LSU lists Powers as the toughest CB he has faced. Man, I wish Powers was still around.

I am trying to get excited about the Ball State game, but I just can't. I thought Furman would be our only snoozer this season, but Ball State may end up being just as bad.

Hey everyone,

If I am repeating something that has already been posted, I apologize. Just wanted to let you know that Prattville High School is playing Don Bosco Prep out of New Jersey tonight at 6:00PM Central, 7:00PM Eastern time on ESPNU. Don Bosco is the 2nd ranked HS team in the country and Prattville had been ranked in the top 5 before its first loss of the season to North Gwinnett GA. Could be a pretty good ball game.

3:42 PM
Blogger Coop said...

Yea, he was the head coach at another school back in the 80s.

I keep looking for reasons to think Ball State will make a game of it. So far all I have seen is that the have a DE that ranks high in terms of sacks and tackles in the backfield. He is apparently going to match up against Ziemba.

The preview I read gave Auburn the edge in every category, so this looks to simply be a beat down. Man, I hate games like this.

Parrish was the head coach at Kansas State back in the 80s. If I remember correctly, we played Kansas State back in the 80s and it is the game where Dye agreed with the coach of the other school to not stop the game clock in the second half. It was a slaughter.

I was there for that one. Mid September, 1988. Kickoff was at 6pm, stayed until the final gun, made our way back to the car and were on I65 headed South when I noticed the sun had just finished going down.

It was then that I turned to my wife and said, "waitaminute, how could the game be over already?"

Was the Ole Nutt game really a breakout game for South Carolina, or simply a breakdown game for Ole Nutt. To me, it is the later. South Carolina has typically had a decent team and usually is around 4th in the east. I don't really see that changing.

Wow, just checked Ball State HC Stan Parrish's career record at CFB Data Warehouse.

He was a pretty darn good small-school HC, winning 81% of his games over 7 seasons, five at D2 Wabash and two at then-D1AA Marshall.

In 1986, his first season as a D1A HC at Kansas State, he won the opener against Western Illinois, then later beat Kansas 29-12.

In 1987 KU and K-State played to a 17-all tie.

Parrish has lost every other game in which he was HC at the D1A level. Outside of the above three games, he's now 0-34.

Well...Gadsden City High put it on Etowah tonight to the tune of about 45 points.

hell, give her a sideline seat that is a hot tub!! she can invite friends from the gym... when UT scores, she has to get out of the hot tub and do as many jumping jacks as UT has points. a november game against western ky would be a sellout! I don't care what anybody says...LSU still has QB issues.

I thought FSU was for real. Maybe not.

How good Auburn is will be answered pretty quickly. If we win against Tennessee and Arkansas, I think we have a shot at beating anyone. I still think injuries will end up biting us in the butt, but these kids believe and there are obvious things that can be improved. I like this team a lot.

Miss State needs a Ziemba holding call in the endzone to tie...oh, wait. wrong team.

UF's backup QB is supposed to actually be a really good pocket passer who will work well with their lackluster receiving corps.

What a bad interception on 4th down. He cost his team over 15 yards.

I still can't figure LSU out. Charles Scott is a monster and they have 9 rush yards. It just don't make no sense.

BTW not to pile on but Temple, TEMPLE, is beating Buffalo. Just sayin'.

Man, isn't Buffalo that team Charles Barkley likes?

LSU still not solid in OL ... QB not established either.

Each year in CFB more parity is achieved. LSU, UGA and So Cal have each averaged in the top 5 recruiting over the past 5 years, yet each team is struggling mouch more than anticipated. Coaches can go from heroes to goats in a season or 2 because the fans don't want to recognize parity.

How many times does a team suddenly do worse when an important coordinator leaves? Sarkasian left USC and went ot Washington. Mullen left UF and went to MSU.

Glad we didn't hire Turner Gill.

Crap!!! LSU is attempting to commit stupicide, but MSU comes back with their one stupid move.

12:54 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

There is definitely parity. MSU is probably the second worst team in the SEC, but they have a legitimate shot at beating LSU. Kentucky is probably about 9th, but I could see them upsetting Florida.

Another quote from (Stuff)MyDadSays. The link is R rated.

"A scar ain't 13 god (danged) stitches. I'll introduce you to men with REAL scars, then we'll all laugh at your (friggin) 13 stitches together."

Parity only increases the value of having a great Head Coach.

And just as important as the HC, great assistants that work together.

Along those lines..did anybody see the article by Scarbinsky this week about McElwain (UA OC).

It noted that Saban tried to hire Borges for a staff position too.

Interesting.

FSJ....I keep up with Bama about as much as any other SEC team other than AU. That level of interest would not include reading about the Bama coaches.

Borges' offensive philosophy is straight out of Saban 101 ... but I'm not sure that Al's deficiencies in recruiting fits into the Saban Way.
