Tiger was our third eagle and has now been retired.
Tiger was the one with the health issues.
Monica the atmosphere was very salacious!!!
WTC I was very close to the section where the eagle decided to check for prey. Let me tell you, eagles are intimadating enough without them looking at you like you're food.
Looks like UAT has this under control. That is OK. my team won and won big. I wil not care what UAT does until late in Novemeber.
Ah man, it does look like Ingram is hurt. Hate to see kids injured, especially in the first game.
I wonder if it was a new flight pattern or he just messed up and got confused? Wonder if those trainers were squeezing their butt cheeks?
Ah, you are correct. It was Tiger.
rk - yeah, I suppose either philosophy could work. Running with Tate in the 4th quarter with a lead is probably optimum. But a fresh McIrishman running against a tired D in the 4th quarter will mean some long touchdowns, even against good SEC defenses.
I mean, wow, did you see that guy get around the corner and up the field? He was doing stuff Caddy and Ronnie couldn't do. Of course, he is light as a feather, and he is obviously preserving his body. On his touchdown run, he could have easily cut it up and gotten the TD instead of trying to run to the corner. There were a few times when he really should have cut it upfield and he didn't, presumably to avoid contact. It didn't hurt us here, but it might later in the season. But I can't blame him, he weighs hardly anything, he could get killed. Stay alive to fight another day.
But yeah, I would be lying if I said it didn't bother me just a little.
You can read all about Spirit and the gang. You can even adopt one of the eagles. It's very cool.
Raptor Center
I can see spirit coming back with a small child. Scary thought.
I remember a few years ago when Tiger was sick and didn't fly down to the middle of the field right away. He most have flown around for a minute. He finally landed on the sideline, way out of his landing zone.
It was the next week that they had that bald eagle. Tiger had to take some sick leave.
I looked on the field and the lady that had the lure, was swinging around like a lasso to get the bird's attention. Usually they just drag it across the field, but she was slinging it everywhere.
It was kinda funny because when he left the stadium, everyone near me stopped their "war eagle" chant. Then when we cam back they started again like it was just a long pause or something. lol
I would just prefer to see McCalebb running when he is least likely to receive a pounding. Tate is a man. He can take it.
Tate's 40.
Whew....
They are playing Richardson. I don't think they would unless Ingram's injury is serious.
Even if the flight doesn't go as scripted, it's still the coolest thing going. Hands down.
The defense scared me during the first half of the game. I'm glad they decided to show up.
Please Steve...Richardson is going to play this year.
Tyrod Taylor isn't a QB. He plays QB, but isn't a QB
I swear I have spent the day being trained by my dog. He has taught me to take him outside about 8 times today.
It's the second coolest thing going. You have never seen my Tom Jones impression. That is the coolest thing going.
why would you keep the qb in the game at this point?
McCaleb has amazing speed. Several times I thought they had him dead on the corner and he just blew by people.
FSJ, with Ingram and Grant, I assumed they would redshit Richardson. No reason to waste a redshirt for a third teamer.
Norm, the crew that I sat with were AU football virgins (and tuscaloosa residents) and they loved it! They made sure that saw that and the Tiger Walk.
I guess Jay G. is getting us some substance!!!
And they still have Upchurch, correct?
Richardson is better than Grant.
He's gonna play. He's also playing on ST so why not RB?
Omc is very fast. We will have to see how it goes next week, because he is not going to sneak up on the next team.
Ok. Who remembers my score prediction from the other day??
When was the last time we put up 550+ yards of offense in a single game? Heck, last year it took us 3 games to reach that mark.
Listening to the game (couldn't watch), the D sounded very sloppy and maybe full of nervous jitters in the 1st half. Offense seemed to be moving it well and trying to just wear them down. Ball security problems that I think will be resolved this week.
2nd half was what we all wanted to see in our most optimistic hopes.
McCalebb played great! Bates seemed to always be around the ball. From the radio, it sounded like Todd looked good.
Michael, while it's true I haven't seen your Tom Jones impression I have no doubt that it's cool because you're cool. When you perfect it to the point where you're able to open up an NCAA game at a major stadium, let me know. Until then, you're just flat wrong.
Post yourself as Tom Jones doing Green Green Grass of Home on YouTube for me.
Looks fine to me.
TOP them: 31
TOP us: 28
yards them: 245
yards us: 556
That's wild.
That "we just beat the hell outta you" cheer is tacky, tacky, tacky.
Didn't realize he played on special teams. I have watched little of the Bama game.
Steve you and FSJ are gonna need to get a room for all this dirty talking yall are doing. :)
Good grief. I don't think I have ever seen a game that lopsided statistically end up only being a 10 point game.
Congrats to the Hotties on their win. On to next week.
yardage for us is fairly even, just like it was at Tulsa.
Congrats on your win, Faker.
Nick Fairly is a man. he played well tonight. i was very impressed.
He does not drive a Murano.
Have we discussed that McCalebb is the first freshman to rush for 100 yards since Bo? When was the last time we had two back break the century mark on the same night?
I've seen the question, but not the answer, BigCat.
Fairly played great!! I was impressed as well.
Monica do you think we can do that against an SEC defense?
How about Cincy kicking a$$ and taking names on the pick'em board?
I think Irons and Tristan Davis both had 100 + against Kentucky in 2005.
Cincy's been on fire all week.
For those that were not there, the long TD was great to see. The play before they ran the 1st portion, which was a 5 yard hook pattern. The corner back had it covered well and the ball thrown out of bounds. The next play they ran the same route, Todd faked the throw, and the receiver turned up filed and caught it in stride and NO ONE was close to him.
wtc,
Gus talked about it in the post game saying they had set it up for 3 straight plays.
Wow, really impressed with the offense. Love seeing us move the ball and take a few chances (esp 2nd half) downfield. Onterio McCaleb, WOW we all looked at each other and said yeah he's fast. Not sure what to make of the defense, i know some players were missing but they didn't seem to have that "turn it loose" feel. Nick Fairly is gonna be a beast.
Gus said on the post game interview that they ran two plays to set up the long pass play and he said that Todd read it well.
or 3 plays, whatever
BigCat - I think we can do that against some SEC D's.
Have we talked about the great applause that Todd got when the starters were announced?
Two shockers for me on defense were that Neiko Thorpe didnt look great tonight and adam herring look pretty good to have only practiced like 4 days since the Iron Bowl or however long it's been.
I just made it in from the game(thanks to my neighbor with an extra ticket). Without looking through all of the 400+ posts, was everyone as pleased as I was?
I know it was La Tech, but the offense looked better than I have seen in years, no matter the opponent. Jay's McCalebb comment seemed dead-on from what I saw.
Tate and Fannin against New Mexico St ran for 100 yrd each
What I liked most about Todd's performance was there were no INTs and he wasn't sacked. He also had a decent completion percentage even though he through quite a few long balls.
Holy Crap! Did Depressed just say he was happy?
Big Cat, I was shocked that Thorpe missed that pass that went through his hands. He didn't seem as sharp as he normally does.
Fairley was very impressive.
I think it's time for this old man to just slip away into the night. Have a restful, peaceful night everyone. Stay strong, love Auburn, remember all of your blessings including your being an Auburn Tiger. May your troubles be few, may your tomorrow be orange and blue. Keep the faith and remember because Auburn men and women believe in these things, believe in Auburn and love her. Goodnight all.
Didn't even think about Todd not being sacked. That's nice right there.
How many procedure calls did we have?
The only problem I really saw on D besides drive extending penalties was LB's in coverage on crossing routes or when the RB would camp out in the middle of the field...we were slow to react to those at times.
depressed, when are you going to change your nick? Don't make me call Omnica.
EXACTLY BIG CAT - Adam Herring stepped up considering his circumstances- no shame in his game
JZ-I think 1 or 2 procedure penalties. Ziemba had one. That may have been the only one.
sweet dreams and WAR EAGLE, IV
Someone compared Todd with Cox earlier, but you could always count on Cox getting sacked occasionally because he would hold onto the ball too long. Cox didn't have that type of arm either.
Ziemba's was the only one I remembered. Nice.
We should have at least as many posts in this thread as our Tigers had yards.
j-z, yes it's true. I had no idea what to expect. The offense looked better than it has in years, and the D seemed to tighten up considerably in the 2nd half.
Byrum was also a pleasant surprise.
I like Washington's uniforms.
They are hanging tough with LSWho.
The lack of offensive penalties was a pleasant surprise. Last season I was pleased any time we didn't break double figures in offensive penalties.
1st half defense was a little disappointing due to penalties and the LB's getting caught with a RB or WR in coverage. I thought the DB's did well for the most part. Dolley was on target most of the night and they broke up a sure TD in the endzone just before the half
As soon as Ziemba got that penalty, I thought "Ouuuuu Monica is gonna get youuuuuu"
Our OL definately deserves credit for not giving up the sack and generally giving Todd all day back there in the pocket.
I was thinking LSU would be the toughest team on our schedule. It would be nice if they weren't.
Steve, it probably is time for a change. I'll try to think of something short that is easy to type.
What did you think of Toddzilla?
The FG just before the half was huge. Wes looked very confident. A 50 and 46 yarder has to be a confidence builder for the offense,as if they need any right now.
I was very pleased with Todzilla. I wouldn't call it an outstanding performance, but it is the best performance I have seen by an Auburn QB in quite a few years.
hahahah BigCat- I was absolutely livid. And it cost us a TD!!!
grrrrr
I will need to see our defense in action at least one more time before making a solid judgement. They just didnt seem as nasty as I would like them to be. They did step us as the game went on though. However I want more aggression from our CBs.
Let's don't overlook the special teams. those cover guys were out to head hunt. MUCH better than last year. remember la tech had a great return team back from last year.
New thread up.
The most pleasing thing had to be our power running game. We moved the pile. Tate gave them hell early and late. That, combined with McCalebb running them silly was outstanding.
How would you not call Todd's performance outstanding?
I don't like the orange Auburn logo in middle of field.. I like blue.
