LSU goes down so hard, I kinda feel sorry for them.
Boo to players who skipped on interviews, I disagree strongly.
N odrops
No drops, I mean. I was actually being productive, posting on the other thread.
Dangit
I heard the Tuberville stuff, too, and there is just no way that's right.
It's out of character, first of all. Secondly, Tuberville technically is working for Auburn right this very minute. Thirdly, he is seeking employment as a head coach and snitching is not a preferred method of getting a job.
I don't buy that for a second.
We all got a good laugh out of it, though.
I'm headed back to Le Gump.
Please have a nice evening.
Enjoyed...now stop the begging :)!!!!!!
Jay,
That's just what I said over on the other thread!
Finebaum has stated that Tuberville was also the one telling anyone who would listen how Saban was cheating in recruiting.
He will say anything to create a stir.
I love it when I think like Jay!!
Oh, oh, oh, it's magic. You know.
Never believe it's not so.
Shake N Bake....the Magic Man.
I am glad someone asked Malzahn about the bounce pass. He was blowing enough smoke. My butt was nearly full.
Hate to see Malzahn get put on the spot like that... but that question was delivered very well.
Exactly Steve
I just read in the last post that Kentucky used magic to make us miss tackles. Someone should report this to the commissioner or something. I am pretty sure that is illegal. Somewhere in the SEC bylaws it says we can burn the Kentucky running backs at the stake.
michael, I think Kentucky gets a special exemption from that rule. They are Kentucky, where basketball is played and....what else is in kentucky?
Try, try, try to understand ...
He's a Magic Man.
I really wish i had confidence like some of yall do on game weeks
Eddie-I heard C Grant, the RB from Opelika, was at the game this weekend. That would mean he has been to every AU home game. He even missed HC in Ttown. Not saying anything is up, but do you or anyone else find that odd?
Jay G - Can you post video that I can look at on my Blacberry? Some kind of podcast or something? Have the IT department look into this please.
Let me retract that last statement. He did not show for this last game. But has another unofficial lined up.
Also - Where ever did William H. Crudup go? I miss Crudup. I'm like that little boy at the end of the movie, "Shane. Come back Shane. Don't go."
wtc..
Interesting thing is that some folks on TI aren't worried about Grant....If he's been to AU that many times for games this season that would make you wonder.
wtc,
I have no recruiting info, but one of the Rivals guys(Matthews?) was on Sportscall last week, and someone asked the same question regarding Grant.
He thinks Grant is still solid to Bama.
No need to beg Jay G. It was enjoyed.
I think Grant is till solid to UAT, but it is just interesting that he shows up over there. Personally I think they allow him to come in thinking he may give them another look. I would just suspect the staff at UAT is not pleased with, according to how I have heard they like to button everything down. (Once you commit to UAT you are ours. if you look elsewhere, we look elsewhere)
I always like Bynes when he is interviewed. He is conversational and doesn't seem so guarded.
I have a friend that has 2 tix to the LSU game for sale. Less than regular price of $60 each.
C. Grant is solid to UA...Brain Matthews is a clown
or Brian*
WTC- I was commenting on that after the Ball State game about Corey Grant. The fact that he comes to every game instead of traveling up to see "his" team is very odd. Most seem to think he is solid to bama, which he probably is, but it leaves one thinking what is up. I do find that interesting.
maybe Grant is our "spy".....
You guys have a great night. It is time to turn in.
I saw Grant at a Tiger Walk hanging with some friends. I think he's just looking for something to do in his home town, and that's what he says. IMHO Bama would be the last place I'd go as a top RB - lot's of pine time coming.
as always, I enjoyed the video. Thanks, Producer/Director/Cinematographer Tate.
I couldn't get the video to work tonight; having all sorts of computer problems. But I'm sure it was good.
Eddie, Sensi, and EBro - Enjoyed being on the show again. Jay G. picking Auburn has lifted my spirits and made me think we have a chance Sat nite. If Todd's arm is at 90%, we win. If we lose, I can always say his arm was only 50%, so this is a sure way to make a prediction and be right.
Just listened to Auburn Insider. The starting two linebackers we have are solid, although certainly not stars.
I hope that the coaches have the guts to say, Todd, it is time to take a rest. If not, we could be looking at a 2008 sequel.
I do disagree that Todd is the sole problem. The lack of motion, possibly due to the FAH injury on the unpunt, may have contributed to that. Also, we haven't seen Fannin involved. Lately we have been gone away from the Malzahn offense and went to the Ben Tate offense.
We do have talent. It bothers me to here people knock our players. We just lack depth.
On the defensive line, we are pretty solid, but lack the star power we have become accustom to. Coleman is good but not having a star tackle to go with him has hurt.
As for LSU, I believe the Jefferson Heisman campaign kicks off Saturday night in Baton Rouge.
Good morning Hotties!
WARRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
GO AU TIGERS!!!
I'll get home from work at midnight and MrsTHT and I will head to the airport at 0530 tomorrow morning. See y'all in BTR!
HOTTIE HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
Hottie Hooooooo!
Great day yesterday at Special Olympics!
Back to work today. Busy for the rest of the week.
THT, we drive down early, early Saturday morning. See you there.
War Eagle!
I've got some news on Finebaum that could be potentailly damaging to his career. Hopefully I can talk about it later in the week.
Feel free to openly speculate.
RK,
I think I know what you are talking about, and I understand why you aren't saying too much right now. :-)
What time did all that occur on his show?
Coosa: Excellent parsing of alibis.
Good morning, Hot Ones, and Head Hot One, Jay! Thanks for the video.
It's going to be a great day. Paul Finebaum is going to "ruin" Auburn and Todd's arm is "fine". All depends on your definitions, doesn't it?
Wise words for the day, courtesy of Dilbert:
When the snake falls in love with the spaghetti, it's time to buy a new hat.
I think there is something pretty profound that relates to Auburn in this statement.
Cincy, what a great quote to start the day.
Dilbert. nice work. :)
Working in an office, Dilbert really hits home sometimes.
speaking of the Office, i saw the Office episode last nite where Pam & Jim go to Schrute Farms. quality television.
I love when they show up an cousin Mose is running beside the car. I have no idea, but that just kills me every time I see it.
yup. that got me too RK.
Any good reciever worth his salt should be able to catch a pass on the bounce.
Actually if I remember correctly Fannin fielded the one hopper like Omar Vizquel.
Is the problem the arm or the routes?
I wonder if we are trying too much deep throw stuff. Maybe some of those crossing routes which are so effective against the defense could be utilized.
What is all the Tubs/Finebaum stuff about?
The Tuberville thing: Think about it before you believe it. Tuberville is trying to get back into coaching. Snitching prevents anyone from getting back into (or staying in) coaching.
Think about it.
Guten Morgen from snowy Denver.
So the rumor is he is turning in cheaters (including Auburn) to the NCAA?
Maybe he wants Miles Brand's old spot.
That makes no sense at all. Sounds like opposition smokescreen.
Steve, thanks for listening to the podcast. I thought we tried to be fair to Todd, saying that it's certainly not all his fault. I've emphasized since Saturday that I thought we still should have won that game despite Todd's woes (alas the penalties).
Sorry if it sounded like we were picking on players. Wasn't our intent. We just try to run a fun fan's show that at times becomes irreverent.
Here's your mystery stat comparison of the day:
Team A through 7 games (5-2, 3-2 SEC):
Starting QB - 111-183-2 1337 yds 9 TDs
#1 Receiver - 26 rec 309 yds 2 TDs
#1 Rusher - 174 att 875 yds 5.0 ypa 8 TDs
Team 2 through 7 games (5-2, 2-2 SEC):
Starting QB - 106-190-2 1443 yds 12 TDs
#1 Receiver - 28 rec 444 yds 5 TDs
#1 Rusher - 150 att 856 yds 5.7 ypa 5 TDs
Obviously, one of the above teams is the 2009 Auburn Tigers.
The other may surprise you (hint: it's an AU team from the current decade).
Agree with JGT.
Why do you think it took Terry Bowden more than a decade to get back into coaching at any level? And his accusations remain officially "off the record".
Now, if Tubs decided he liked retirement (which I sincerely believe is a distinct possibility) he might want to stir up some stuff. . .
I'd say South Carolina but for the rushing statistics, plus, that's the only other 5-2 team.
Oh, my B, didn't read your last note. Was looking at as a 2009 SEC team.
2000 Auburn Tigers
This comment has been removed by the author.
Or 2003?
Oops, spoke too soon. You are correct.
Was anyone else surprised to learn that Ben Tate's rushing numbers are as good as Rudi's through his first 7 games?
And that Ben Leard and Chris Todd were almost identicaly statistically at this point in their SR seasons?
FF, I'm hoping we follow the lead of the 2000 team by winning the first five, losing the next two, then winning the next four, except that we don't also lose the last two (SEC Title game and Citrus Bowl).
How do the defensive #'s match up?
There were significant differences, of course. For example, the rest of the 2000 RBs had <150 yards combined. FAH has 461 by himself, despite virtually disappearing in the last couple of games.
Plus there were 5 WRs in '00 who had 10 or more catches through the first 7 games, while only 3 can make that claim this year (and that includes Fannin).
We tend to remember that season's offense as being all Rudi, all the time. Not quite the case.
Good morning all.
Anyone have some advice on how I can stay focused on work today? I'm feeling very ADD-ish.
I know we gave up our share of points in 2000, but how do the D numbers match up?
A major distinction is that Mississippi State and Florida were both ranked at the time. Florida ended up being the SEC champion.
I don't see Arkansas or Kentucky being the SEC champion, and I certainly don't Kentucky being anywhere near the top 25 at the end of the season. Arkansas may have difficulty getting there, too.
This team is in a lot more world of hurt than the 2000 squad.
We're just gonna have to deal with it until we can recruit some more talent.
Against Miss State in 2000 we didn't get a 1st down until deep into the 3rd quarter.
That was a tough game to watch.
Smootsmack.com
RK, it was amazing we only lost that game 17-10. We got whooped that day.
As you might imagine, the comparative defensive numbers are pretty one-sided. Although probably not as bad as you think.
AU 2000 defense through 7 games:
288.3 ypg, 19.1 ppg
AU 2009 defense through 7 games:
367.6 ypg, 26.3 ppg
Here's the key stat: through the entire 2000 season, AU held almost a 5 minute TOP advantage over its opponents (32:19 vs 27:41).
Thus far this year, its almost exactly the opposite: 27:49 vs 32.11.
I imagine that 9-minute swing in TOP may partially account for the 80 yards and 7 points per game difference.
Jet's right, in that our early season schedule was much tougher that year.
Amongst the teams we beat were Ole Miss and LSU, both of whom were ranked during parts of that season. Both of whom also did something we couldn't do - beat MSU.
I just thought it was interesting to see the two side-by-side. As I recall I was a lot more optimistic about the rest of the season in '00 than I am now - even though we would have fallen apart if we'd lost Rudi for any significant time.
I don't even want to think about where we would be if Ben missed a game or three. . .
And I'd be lying if I didn't admit that a big part of my optimism in 2000 had to do with the sudden decline and collapse of the DuBose Era occurring across the state.
I'll take Thomas, Lincoln, Pounds, Callier & Brown over any LB we have on the field this year.
McNeil, Torbor & Johnson over any DL we have now.
I'll take the corners we have today over Casher & Crayton.
Rashaud Walker over Etheridge.
Alabama 2000 and Alabama 2009 parallel each other pretty well, right?
E-Bro...in the preseason they do.
I forgot to mention I'd also take Rob Pate over our starters today.
I'll take Malzahn over Mazzonne (great guy though). Not sure about Roof over Lovett. Johnny Love is doing a pretty solid job with Miami this year. Red Roof Rusted needs more time.
I would take all of our coaching staff today over the 2000 staff.
Unless Tubs wants to be the DC, then I'd take him as DC over Roof.
You know who I'd take?
BEASLEY!!!
That was well played ebro.
The first Auburn game I attended was the 2000 one at Miss St. Boy oh boy, was that ugly.
That game made me want to track down and kill the group that did "Who Let The Dogs Out". I have never heard a song more overplayed at a sporting event.
My first game in many years was this years Miss State game and I enjoyed it.
Ole Ball coach is at it again. "I don't know what that white stuff was that Al holder used when kicking PAT's and Field Goals, tape or something." It is against the rules to use anything like that during PAT's or FG's.
South Carolina has sent an official complaint to the SEC office.
Ole Ball Coach is after Saban, and Kiffen cannot resist digs at Meyer. Uber-male rivalries are fascinating.
Yeah Michael, "Who Let the Dogs Out" became the bane of my existence after 2000 Mississippi St. as well. A cold, miserable day, compounded by the worst song ever with 40,000 Mississippians acting like it was the Beatles.
i like that song. It makes me smile
Is it because you imagine all the released dogs will chase your cats and eat them, Harrison?
That was bad, they tried the "Who Let the Dogs Out" stuff in 2002 at their place too.
That was the year they assigned the Auburn band to sit in the upper deck. At the end of the game as the band made it's way down the spiral they were chanting "Who Shut The Dogs Up".
I just remember from the 2000 MSU team Fred Smoot had his on webpage Smootsmack.com where he talked trash about other teams and players.
I can't find it online, but I used to love Alan Kalter's Campaign Round-up they used to always do on Letterman back in 2000. He would just sing/scream "who let the dogs out!" over and over again.
my cats would kill those dogs Michael. I give them kitty-roids and we lift weights together. Also, they can shoot guns
Yeah, but their testicles are now tiny, so the joke is on them.
Tony Franklin's a snitch...just sayin'
So you are saying Tubs can snitch and still get to be a coordinator in the Sun Belt. I might try my chances with the non-snitching route and see what happens with that.
I've got a serious man crush on E-Bro!
Nice work!!!
Well, actually, you snitch, you write a book and make money, you "invent" a phony system and make money, you get a head coaching gig in the Sun Belt, you get six games as OC in the SEC (and get paid for 36), then you end up as a coordinator at a middle of the pack Sun Belt team...sounds like an adventure to me...with lots of money.
What has happened to LUV. I go by and meet her at her tailgate before the Miss State game and she disappears.
LUV did I scare you that bad?
I promis to be nice and wear a sack over my head next time I stop by your tent.
THT...
DWWD.
Here is my daily FU Tuberville till we win again!!!!!!!
So, Digger, her tailgate was there, she was there, you show up and she vanishes? Sounds like a shapeshifter to me. Be careful.
Did you get one in yesterday Eddie? Never saw it.
Bro- I got it in on the show. Maybe since I'm in WV, the internet is delayed here :)!!!

One question that's been nagging me since the beginning of the year: Why hasn't Ben Tate gotten any press concerning any Heisman potential? Here we have a stud of a running back averaging 5.7 yards per touch who just passed Stephen Davis at #5 on the career rushing yards list for Auburn running backs (Ben is at 2815, Davis at 2811).
He's now only 144 yards away from a "thousand yard" season and still might climb higher into the rarified air of the top Auburn running backs of all time. He's unlikely to catch Bo or Cadillac in total yards, but he's well within the reach of the marks set by Joe Cribbs (553 yards) and could even surpass James Brooks (708 yards) with 5 or potentially 6 games to go.
If so, he would be the #3 Auburn running back of all time. Just wondering why he's not at least a dark horse candidate.
"Candidate Tate" is a least credible and sounds a lot better than that "Eric Berry for heisman" foolishness.
Sullivan13
But ya see Sullivan Eric Berry is scary
Good question, Sullivan. I think the answer is that there's only room for praise for one RB from the state, and some Sophomore in the land of Evil is getting a ton of press right now.
Maybe different if we're 6-1 and definitely if we're 7-0. Tebow seems to be the only Heisman winner this decade (that I can think of) who had more than one or two losses with his team. Reggie Bush is the only RB to win it this decade.
Sullivan- If this team was undefeated, he would be mentioned, IMO, but to win the heisman these days, you have to be on big name teams due to TV coverage or ESPN. The days of hte Hesiman meaning something are gone IMO.
