Auburn gets two POWs
Hey everyone. Two of your favorite players, DB Walt McFadden and DE Antonio Coleman, have earned Player of the Week status from the Southeastern Conference.
McFadden was judged the league's top defensive player for his work in Auburn's 33-20 win against Ole Miss. Coleman was named the league's top defensive lineman.

Here is what the SEC had to say about Sleepy:
WALT McFADDEN
Defensive Back
AUBURN
6-0 • 175 • Senior
Pompano Beach, Fla. (Ely HS)
• McFadden tied a career high with five tackles, along with 1.5 tackles for loss (-5 yards) and two interceptions in the Tigers’ 33-20 upset victory over Ole Miss.
• His first interception was a 29-yard return for a touchdown with 11:25 left in the third quarter to give Auburn a 24-7 advantage.
• McFadden’s second interception sealed the Tiger win, as with Ole Miss driving, he picked off Jevan Snead’s pass at the AU 6-yard line with under three minutes remaining and the Tigers up 33-20.
• He has four interceptions on the season, seven for his career, including two returned for scores.
And for The First A.C.:
ANTONIO COLEMAN
Defensive End
AUBURN
6-3 • 261 • Senior
Mobile, Ala. (Williamson HS)
• Coleman recorded five tackles, while tying career highs with four tackles for loss (-15 yards), including two sacks (-11) along with one forced fumble, four quarterback hurries and one blocked kick, in the Tigers’ 33-20 upset victory over Ole Miss.
• The four TFL were the most by an Auburn player since Coleman equaled the feat at Georgia in 2007.
• Coleman’s blocked kick came in the third quarter on a PAT, which was recovered by Demond Washington and returned for a defensive two-point conversion. It was a three-point swing, turning a potential 31-21 AU lead to a 33-20 AU lead.

I'm still alive.
Up from the grave PF arose!
Congrats PF, on first post and still being alive.
Alive is good. 2 for one players of the week is pretty cool, two. Get it? See I did that on purpose. That makes it different.
Reminds me of the song from Portal.
"And when you're dead, I will be still alive."
That blocked punt was huge. There is a big difference in a 10 point lead and 13. I can't remember Auburn ever doing that before.
First time in front of a computer in over a week. Dang spreadsheets.
Found nice Auburn folks in LA, Vegas, and at the world's largest outdoor cocktail party (complete with Auburn themed tailgate amongsth the gators and dawgs). The Family is everywhere.
Glad you had a great time Peter.
Back to work. There's no place like home, they say. I agreed last night. Today at my desk, not so much. Keep it hot.
Portal reference- only on the HABOTN.
And JayG comes off the top rope with a GlaDOS reference!
congrats to Sleepy & A.C.
bonus props to PF for 'staying alive'. Bee Gee's style props.
Steve,
Quentin Reece returned on for a safety against UT in the 1997 SEC championship game.
on=one
one = blocked PAT
I am so happy that the D is being recognized this week! Now they can see what happens when they step up!!!
They should now call it the "Z" line in honor of Zac and win out the rest!!
Haven't read old threads so apologies if this has been discussed, but Barnhart pointed out in his article today that LSU probably controls it's own destiny to the BCSCG.
That would be just like ol' Lucky Les.
UF, Alabama, & LSU all control their own destinies.
Hopefully the Hat gets derailed this weekend.
WEG....That's 2 great ideas in one statement.
Does Alabama clinch the west with a win this weekend?
I believe so RK
Brandon Spikes Suspended One Half Game for Eye Gouge
It'll make him famous in the WWE
FSJ...I'm predicting a rested Bama to be ready to play and take care of LSU, but Ol' Les can stumble into a lot of luck.
No doubt Hoopie...
He is the luckiest idiot I can think of...
Wow, suspended the entire half of the Vandy game?!?!? Gee that must have been something nearly criminal.
As far as bama / LSU go. Coming off a bye is not as big a deal as some think. This season in the SEC, there have been 7 teams to have a bye and play a game following it. The team coming off the bye's record is 4-3. Of the 4 wins, 2 have come against SE Louisiana and Louisville. The other two wins were Florida over LSU and LSU over Auburn. Of the three losses, Arkansas lost to Georgia, Tennessee lost to Bama & Georgia lost to Florida.
I discount the importance of the bye for the next game after a Arkansas went into like 6 or 7 OT's with UT and we were on a Bye and then we got smoked by Arkansas the next week.
LSU/Bama should be a game and I don't think bama gets a huge advantage from a bye.
I hope the SEC bumps the Spikes suspension to 3 games. This kind of stuff goes on at all levels of football from middle school to the pros, but it still shouldn't be tolerated. The refs would have to jump into every pile in order to see and call it, so it is not something that will ever get called often. Nevertheless, players should face stiff penalties when caught.
LSU @ Ala. should be a good game and I am picking it Ala 20 LSU 17
Not sure about that but that is how I feel this morning.
The rest should help Bama but who knows how the lucky acorn will fall this week end.
Eddie....UT is much more together since their break and played Bama very close.
UGA...no amount of rest will help those thugs focus and play like their talent is capable. It would take a lot of discipline to harness their considerable talent and CMR just doesn't seem up to the task. In the pre-season, i felt that CMR would have finally adjusted...now I think he is hopeless.
Auburn / Georgia is a night game for sure. CBS just announced a double header that startes at Noon EST with UT/Ole Miss followed by Florida/ South Carolina at 3:30 EST. Meaning that no other televised SEC games may take place at that time and also meaning Auburn is a night game. I'm happy.
Hoopie- Actually they played much better staring the 4th quarter of our game. They killed UGA following that and have been on a tear.
UGA- They're just bad. Agreed.
OK- Auburn @ UGA has been set at 7pm EST either on ESPN or ESPN2.
nice work Eddie. :)
My son only has good vision in one eye and therefore he played with one of those clear covers over the face mask for that very reason....wasn't worth losing eyesight for the rest of his life. Sad but true that some player just play dirty and don't enjoy the game for fun.
AU-UGA a nite game? I like it too Eddie, but that will reduce the attendance at our annual AU-UGA pig roast up at Lake Lanier. A lot of our crowd is getting too old to drive back from up there after night games.
I'm 54 and ready to admit that I'm middle-aged.
I agree Eddie..
The light came on for Crompton in the fourth quarter of the Auburn game.
He made a few throws in the Bama game that were NFL caliber throws.
Wonder if UGA will wear all black?...helmets, jereys, & pants. That has worked so well for them recently.
When did Richt lose control of his team? I remember them being fairly disciplined (or maybe I just thought they were) but the last few years they seem to have lost control of themselves and gotten penalized a lot. Then again this may all be perception.
I hope they wear them against us. We need a little payback for that second half collapse we had against them last time we were there and they wore them.
Unfortunately I think the last time it DID work for them was against us.
When Richt realized that 9 or 10 wins wasn't enough for that fan base and he started letting up on the character part of his recruiting that he had early on in his time there.
I imagine tickets will be readily available at UGA.
Bingo RK.
Their struggles help Auburn and UT since both schools recruit heavily over there.
I think they broke out the Black in their bowl game that year too and won big to finish 2nd in the nation that year.
What really sucked about the game we played against them in 2007 was we were leading 20-17 mid way through the 3rd quarter and it ended up 45-20 before we blinked.
Thanks RK. Truthfully, I'll take 7 win-10 win seasons with character, and kids that graduate.
Wow...if you listen to Sports CAll...did you hear that John Thrower passed away today?!
Thats the way I remember it to RK.
I thought Auburn had them right where they wanted them.
John "Stump" Thrower?
Seems to me that Richt recruits reasonable character, but just turns them loose in a big ol' party town called Athens. My daughter's 4 star OL friend @ UGA only got a 1 game suspension BOTH times that he passed out drunk on the toilet at an Athens bar. Many players get off even easier. This guy's dad was a preacher and asked for strong punishment.....geez.
Don't really know him except radio and I really enjoyed his down home insights. Said he used to be just a caller.
How nice is it having "Hot" Carter lining up opposite of AC now? Gives us a viable pass rush from both DE spots. Him and Toro have been a godsend I think.

Doesn't really give a bio
It's better listening than PF and not a sunshine pumping as people think
random thought, but any chance Wes Byrum makes a few All-American teams this year? he's 13 of 14 on FGs this year. not too shabby.
Meyer really blew an easy call by only suspending Spikes one game. With all due respect to the Commodores, they are playing Vandy this week in Gainesville. It's not like Spikes is needed anyway. What a joke.
Sorry, Meyer suspended Spikes for only half a game, not a full game, hence my little diatribe.
EBro....1/2 game suspension....why even bother if that's all He's gonna do?
