Auburn to Outback? You'll have to wait
Hey everyone. This is just a short update.
Auburn may or may not be locked into the Outback Bowl, but that announcement will not occur today. Or tomorrow. Or the next day.
Mike Schulze, the bowl's communications director, said his bowl will not publicly reveal its participants until Sunday afternoon. He initially told reporters to expect an announcement tonight.

And I set you up too man.
Don't worry, Norm. I've missed far more Beasley posts than you have page turns.
ICE CREAM!!! Great idea!!! Molly thinks so, too!!!
Blogger's mind is still blown from the other night, it just told me there were 760 posts, I was like wow they've been busy lately.
Be patient Wake, we will get there.
Zookeeper - I think I'll order the tickets tomorrow. I'm afraid they'll all be gone if I don't order soon. In fact, I don't know if they all sold today or not.
NC cops wrote almost 32,000 speeding tickets over T'giving weekend. Fortunately, I was not one of them, but not for a lack of effort.
Dagnabit. One of our refrigs went out today. Can't get it fixed until Friday. It is good to have a back up in a case like this.
My sister got a ticket today. Cop said she was doing 80, she claims she was doing 70. She is going to take it to court, be interesting to see how it all plays out.
backup fridge definitely more important than a backup washing machine. That's why we have 2 backups in the basement, but are washing our clothes next door!
I can tell you how it will all play out, she will pay the fine plus court costs. No Judge is going to undermine a police officer and not take his side.
Oh and if she hires an attorney to represent her, she will owe him a fee also.
Now, if she knows someone in the system, she might get out of it altogether.
Wakerider - First, sis needs to find out if this speeding ticket will cause a hit on insurance or not (in NC, speeding <10 mph over isn't reported to insurance). If not, then just pay the ticket. If she's facing an insurance hit, when your sister gets all those lawyer solicitations in her mailbox in the next week or so, tell her to use one. They can usually get it dismissed as "faulty equipment" or some nonsense and all your sister may be out a few hundred bucks for lawyer/court costs, but it won't cause a hit on insurance.
of course, I just made all that up. I don't have any personal experience in such matters.
IV-Wife got a ticket for expired tag in B'ham while working. She spent the night there and drove back home the next day. The same trooper stoppped her agian and almost gave her another ticket for the same thing. She had lots of hospital stays thourhg out the the year and just missed that the renewal came in. She challeneged it. Ticket was going to be $145.00. Judge ruled in her favor. Told her to pay court costs of $130.00. Plus she had to drive to B'ham and sit through traffic court for 5 hours.
Thanks judge.
Good advice THT, but it has been my experience that it is cheaper to just pay the ticket, watch my speed afterwards and move on.
THT, I don't think we'll make it to the game. As much as I would love to go, I am gonna be too busy and too broke come New Year's. You Hotties have fun tho!
Kristina,
Look for us in Section 232! It will be on the Auburn side, not sure which side press box is on.
If her story of what happened is true, I think she actually has a chance of getting off. If she gets an attorney I am pretty sure she will get off, if her story is true.
We'll see
Great news about the Steak Bowl. Do the teams get an all-you-can-eat banquet?
Unfortunately, I spent all my money getting to the Iron Bowl so I'll have to watch this one from home.
The best chance of avoiding a ticket is to hope the cop doesn't show. If he doesn't testify, it gets dismissed.
My favorite facebook status of the evening... "It's getting colder than Tiger Woods' marriage outside."
we've got a balmy 63 degrees and steady rain. I took Molly dog outside to potty and only one of us got wet.
Then she fussed at me for wanting to change my shirt before scooping out our ice cream.
I go drink a few beers with some ex-coworkers at the Chestnut Station and you guys and gals jabber like Loweezy and Elvena over the fence. THT let me kmow how much and where to send the money.
NOW!! everyone scatters like a covey of Qual
It's never good when the "other woman" has proof that you've been creepin....
Finebaum played one of the voicemails today....What was Tiger thinking?
will do, digger
Chestnut Station digger?
Thanks for the invite..
Just kidding.
Finebomb the ever present sportscaster. Follows all of the big stuff
FSJ I am usually there every Wed night from about 4 to 6 or so. You would fit right in 4 are Bama fans 1 Auburn and 1 Ohio State.
Back in my younger years..we used to go there on Wednesday nights to shoot pool and stuff.
OC back then we went out Wednesday thru Saturday.
These days, I just tend to drink my beer at home.
I've read on some other boards speculation that Tuberville might be interested in the DC job at UGA...
I have a very very hard time believing that.
I do that also but here lately I go to talk to some guys I don't see every day like I use to.
I don't think Tuberville will take a DC job. Could be wrong but just don't think so.
I don't see it happening, but I don't think it would be a bad idea, gets him back in coaching, but may not have to spend quite as much time at the office.
Pride is a hard master and will prevent people from doing things that may make sense.
Tubs is going to have to think La-Mo range.
I think A&M getting to a bowl hurts Tubs' most realistic chance.
Can't see him taking an assistant's job in college. NFL? Maybe. But not college.
Tubs is not getting a decent BCS head coaching job.
He's viewed as a burnout.
I don't think he has the work ethic for the pros, even as an assistant.
I had heard that rumor about 4 weeks go from some UGA fan that calls on me. He thought it was off the wall, but thought it was interesting he would say that 4 weeks ago.
Well typically coordinators don't do as much recruiting...right?
Who knows what's going to happen..but I agree with Jet..He's not getting a BCS HC job this year, IMO.
I don't think he gets a BCS head coaching position any year.
Kristina ...EXACTLY.
I think he enjoys being the AU president's special assistant too much to leave Auburn. Ok, maybe not. BTW, isn't this the week of the annual duck hunt?
I think you misspelled her name.
Do tell Norm.
I think he had a legit shot at the TAMU position if it opened up. I think he would have a shot at Louisville if he wanted it, but I don't think its a good fit. I think he may end up with a BCS job, but probably not this year.
I think I will have a little pumpkin pie with me reddi whip
*my
He better jump somewhere soon. Time is not on his side. Selectivity is for the hot.
Texas A&M is chasing its cross-state rival that happens to be one of the top 3 programs in the nation.
Riddle me this: why would Texas A&M hire a coach that had a small advantage over its cross-state rival, yet conceded that advantage in 18 months? Consequently, that rival has become one of the top 3 programs in the nation.
I submit Tubs, a great guy and a good coach in his day, ain't what they're looking for if/when Sherman doesn't pan out.
Caramel Pie > Pumpkin Pie
I perceive a burnout that cannot be reignited, at least not beyond a flicker. If I was an AD, I sure wouldn't hire him.
Has he said he wants to be a HC again? I haven't been following...
Tubs isn't a Moron, if he wants back in the game, I think he knows what its going to take to be successful. I don't think you'll see him be in the running for any national championships, but I think he can build a solid program.
At this point in their lives, these big fish go to small ponds. Memphis was one of those ponds ... to me, Louisville is on the high side for him. UCF won too many games. If Schnellenberger hung it up, there you go. Or FIU got rid of its coach, now we're talkin'.
La-Mo's open, but that would be too much for Tommy's ego, but I don't blame him.
Think Cutcliffe, he had to be a coordinator again, and ended up at Duke, a bottom feeder in BCS and Division I for that matter.
Wake ...
My indictment of Tuberville comes down to this ... your statement is correct ... he knows what it takes ... but he didn't do it.
When Saban arrived, like it or not, it was a game changer. But he didn't change ... except mangle the hiring of an offensive coordinator. But he wasn't willing make any other bold moves with the staff, and he surrendered the state recruiting wise.
In my thoughts, his attitude was seemingly: I'll do it my way. Maybe I'll be successful, but if not, the guys I hate will have to pay me. Win-win.
So he got his $5.2 million and a pound of flesh, but ADs know the score, and I don't think many at the decent programs -- any? -- are willing to bite.
Enough about Tubs... Go Gator ... Good night.
Comparing Tubberville to Cutcliffe is like comparing A good a Chili's burger and a Burger King burger. The Chili's burger isn't your first choice, but its pretty good. The burger king is alright, and if you are in a hurry it will work, but it won't get anybody excited.
Tubberville had his issues at the end, but he had a pretty good decade here.
Not to mention Cut had been an HC only 6 years, after 17 years as an assistant at UT (6 as OC).
Tubs hasn't been an assistant for 16 years now, and was a co-ordinator for only 2 years (1 at Miami, 1 at TAMU).
If you were Richt, would you take a chance on a guy who's last truly relevant experience was in the Southwest Conference?
I agree lets drop this conversation.
Good night, Hotties! I've got to be at work in 7 hours. Sweet dreams!!!
Tubs 4-life!!!
Tubs four life?
That's Mark Mangino.
Ha! Get it? Mark Mangino is a large man.
Where'd everybody go? I leave to go decorate for a few hours, I come back and everyone has left. Gone to bed I guess, think I will do the same.
Good night, hotties or good morning!
I could see Tubs at UVA.
Am I the only person who doesn't give a hoot about Tigers domestic problems?
Virginia gets too cold for his blood.
As far as Tubs at a Louisiana Monroe type job, I don't see it.
Most people see him as a much better coach than what we view him as. From the outside people see him as a guy who had one bad year at Auburn then got ran off.
Morning Hotties! Work has started slowly today with 'puters acting retarded. So it just piles up til I can wake the IT people up.
WARRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
GO TIGERS!!!
Good morning, Hotties. One more after today! Our trip to Tampa was booked last night. Fortunately, we got the motel room for free with AMEX reward point.
Is there anywhere we Hotties can meet up after the game so we can watch UAT in the Sugar Bowl?
Luv - do you already have tickets for the game? If not, do you want to sit in the HOTTIE Section?
uh oh, this computer is messed up. I've got to shut it down. See y'all later.
I heard Wakerider was hosting a hottie party at his house for the sugar bowl, and that there'd be chips and dip. May be just a rumor.
Tubs as DC at Georgia...hmmm. Not really as crazy as it sounds if you look at the whole situation. First, I don't think Tubs is going to get a HC job this year, or at least one that he wants. Secondly, I think he doesn't have the energy to be the recruiter the HC has to be, evidenced by his last few years at Auburn. The DC role gives him a lot more free time to do the things he loves and spend time with his family while keeping his HC option wide open should he choose to return to that position. At this point for Tubs, its not about money....he is loaded. Hell, he probably has more than Richt at this point. Tubs has stated several times that he wants to remain in the South, but I would also be willing to bet he is itching to get out of Auburn because he is not the beloved figure that I think he thought he was. Being the DC at Georgia makes sense to me if you think about it. That's just my opinion. Of course their is another side of it, and I believe that Rodney Gardner and him do not get along very well. If that is the case, that could be a toxic situation for Richt to bring on if he plans on keeping Gardner on the defensive side of the ball.
I just don't see Tubbs the former CEO voluntarily / willingly taking a VP slot.
NoVa - no, you're not. He cheated on his wife and got busted for it. Unfortunately, he's not the first and surely won't be the last. It's not for any of us to judge. It's a private matter completely. I respect his abilities and will continue to be a fan. We're all aware of it, even non-sports fans are now aware of it. Let the Woods family deal with the repercussions without the cameras and microphones. It's none of our business.
So says Norm.
THT, I can confirm 4 tickets...still iffy on two of them.
Good Mornin' everyone,
Had a little excitement in the hood this morning. A neighbor has a cat stuck in the walls of her house. Mewed all night long. She called the police, they came out looked around trying to figure out how the cat got in there. Didn't know anything they could do about it and left. I think she has 2 options. Let the cat alone until its batteries run out or have someone break into the walls to free the cat. Either way, she is going to have to get someone extract the cat dead or alive. Interesting enigma.
That Darn Cat!
By the way, she is a cat lover, so I think that she will do everything she can to get the cat out alive.
And when I said iffy on two, that would be an additional two.
Thanks, Sean.
I'm going to try and get us some tickets as soon as I can get a break at work.
Re: the cat, I suggest extracting it with one of Michael's helicopters. That would solve two problems:
1. get the cat out of the wall
2. get rid of the cat
let it get weak, then send a python in after it.
Tarheel, how are we getting money to you for tickets?
And are we positive that Auburn's going to the Outback?
Any other HABOTNistas who want to sit in the OFFICIAL HABOTN SECTION of the stadium at the OUtback Bowl?
