Radio Appearance Forthcoming, other stuff

Hey everyone. I will be doing my weekly segment on SuperSport 930 out of Jackson, Miss., in a bit. That extravaganza will begin around 9:05 a.m. CST.

We'll be talkin' Auburn, the Heisman Trophy, Tiger Woods, Tim Tebow, Doug Barfield. The usuals.

Be there or be rectangular.

SCHEDULE UPDATE
Auburn has released its practice schedule for the next few weeks. There is good news for j00. A few of those practices will be open for 30 minutes, which means you'll get some practice video. Aren't you excited? Maybe we'll get some footage of scout-team stalwarts PPL and Tyrik Rollison.

Dates: Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (Dec. 18), Saturday (Dec. 19), Monday (Dec. 21), Tuesday (Dec. 22).

Then they're off until Tampa.

To try and not get too specific, it is usually foolish to try and blame a situation on one specific cause. There is plenty of blame to go around.

It is much more productive to look to the future. Heck, many bashed Chizik before he gotten started at Auburn. Look to the future. As for past coaches, I hope they do well. I consider them Auburn men, other than one whom I will not mention.

During the next 2 to 3 years we will get a good idea of how Chizik will do. He is off to a great start. Maintaining a program isn't easy in the SEC, but I like Chizik's chances.

By the way, I also remember a bunch of Auburn fans trashing Chizik when he left for Texas. It wasn't on here, but it happened. You never know when things may come back around, and in this case they did.

That's kind of peculiar, seeing how Ingram's lead keeps growing.

2:29 PM
Blogger Seanzie said...

THT, on his site he explains the margin of victory is always smaller on race day than it is in his projection. I.e. they had Tebow winning in 07 by 19.4 percent, he actually won by 9.3 percent. They have less than 4 percent difference between the top 3.

I think in old days (i.e before the internet explosion and 24 hour Sportscenter) it was fine to say we don't promote individual players...but times have changed.

You almost have to promote individuals now...Recruiting demands it.

FSJ would you be saying that if you didn't have any horse in the race? Or would it be that award no one really cares about if you have a championship.

3:17 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

Oh tommy..

No doubt I'd rather have the championship...but I think it is important to promote players for individual awards...be it Heisman, Butkus...whatever.

For all of the talk about the Nebraska defender I'd be interested to see what Derrick Thomas' stats were when he finished near the top ten in the Heisman race..

I recall he had a monster year.

3:19 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

Just looked.

Thomas had TWENTY SEVEN sacks in 1988..and finished 10th in the Heisman.

3:21 PM

Barry Sanders..

But to only finish 10th?

3:22 PM

Hugh Green was the guy from Pitt. He was 2nd to George Rogers in 1980. I think that was another year without good candidates. FSJ, I'm not saying anyone is getting ripped off if Ingram wins it. I just don't think he'd come close most years. Also, Derrick Thomas compiling stats as a LB are different from what Suh is doing as a DT. With that said, Derrick Thomas probably should have been higher than 10th.

3:27 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

I'll bet Brent Fullwood or Rudi Johnson would have been going to NY if they had played this year. Hell, Fullwood might have won it. He was 6th in 1986 with 1391 yds rushing when he averaged 8.3 yards per carry.

3:34 PM
Blogger Scott Chocolate said...

I am now through beating the dead horse. I just hate that Ingram is probably gonna win the thing and then UAT will probably follow that up with a MNC on Jan. 7. I may have to move to Australia.

The only thing worse than giving up a 30-yard pass off your goal line is diving for the ball after the guy's already caught it and giving up a 98-yard pass for a touchdown.

Is Kansas really an upgrade from Stanford?

I would want to get out of Stanford to get away from the tree huggers, but outside of that I see no reason to leave for Kansas.

there aren't many trees to hug in Kansas. Unless it's his wife's request, there's no reason for Harbaugh to go to bloody kansas.

Anyone used Google Goggles on their Android phone? Anyone actually have an android phone?
I've wanted an iphone in the worst way, but Android looks pretty good, and I wouldn't have to switch to ATT.

My sister has the Motorola Droid, I've played with it and like it alot. I haven't used it enough to find all the annoying quirks that every phone has, but from what I've seen I like it, more than the storm or storm too.

If it was for me I'd choose it over the Iphone, but only because my big clumsy fingers can't type on a touch screen.

I hate Miami...I can't wait to stop this ridiculous 200 mile (rt) commute to this G-d forsaken city and move closer to the Plains.

Wake, where'd you have to go today?

THT, I saw an ad yesterday for a map collection down here and thought of you.

Whereabouts exactly do you live down that way?

Passport Office? Screw that! I'm driving to New Orleans before I think about going to that place in that city.

I commute from Naples to Miami every day....on US-41 right now headed home.

unlimited free booze makes great stories...thank goodness those days have dramatically decreased over the past decade. I want to pass those things down to the jhags of the world. Last thing I want is to be 40 and people consider me dangerous.

Yeah it was a delightful process. My appointment was at 12, I was called up at 3:30. Then find out they want me to drive back on tuesday... not hardly. They are fedexing it to me.

Naples to Miami daily sounds delightful.

THT-I have a droid, but it is the one made by HTC. I like it a lot. I was with Altell and just switched from a Razor phone to this droid. The other droid phone was a bit too clunky for me but my friend has one and lieks it. They are both fast.
I just read today that ATT is going to start limiting iphone users to certian time amounts on their data plan..Their are so many users tht they have choked down their network.

It's counter-intuitive for a coach, but when you are down 1 with no timeouts with 2:30 to go and your opponent gets a fourth-down conversion deep in your territory. It's time to flop and let them score.

I have heard about the AT&T problems with their network too. What I heard was that AT&T are going to give incentives for people not to use the data features so much. I would go with a droid. It is linux based and open. I think it has a much better chance of competing with the iPhone than the Palm Pre. A linux based phone will likely have more apps.

ummmm, android and palm webOS are running on a near identical Linux kernel...many or the upgrades in android 2.0 can be traced back to similar aspects of webOS. the commercials may be better for the droid, but I'm not gonna go out and say it's that much different than the Pre, much less way better...plus,the dev suite can be accessed by typing the konomi code(updownupdownleftrighleftright...) from the launch screen on the Pre, which is a badass reminder of my generation's childhood...knowledge is power!

AT&T is having terrible problems with their network particularly in areas that don't have 3G. The iPhone is essentially unusable in those areas for data.

I've read good things about the droid. I don't think I'd like the motorola one on Verizon. It looks too clunky. I'd probably go with the one that wtc has.

I'm switch phones so often I've tested just about all of them at some point. The Pre was interesting but build quality was a problem.

11:44 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

One other thing...Verizon will soon have the same problems with network capacity once they get the iphone.

It's by far the best internet experience you can find on a phone when the network can keep up. But it does put a tremendous strain on network capacity.

Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

one triumph of the Pre (for another month whenit's in wide release) is that it's on the only national 4G network (good luck finding Sprint's 4G towers, but when you do, it's blazing!).

11:53 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

lol...good point Peter.

I loved the Palm Web OS with the cards and multitasking.

If you could put that OS on a phone with the build quality of say the iPhone you'd have a grand slam winner, IMO.

11:55 PM
Blogger FSJ said...

It's no wonder the Palm Web OS is as slick as it is..

The CEO of Palm is a former executive at Apple.

11:56 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

the construction of the Pre is a little questionable, huh, FSJ. Sharp edges, sunken keyboard (love the size and location, keys are just sunken in and hard to hit), cheap feel. Pixi is way better, but it's got a smaller screen. They did, at least, put a really good multi-touch display in it. was shocked at the picture....

I still refuse to use a phone without a qwerty. tried the iphone and hated that part.

11:59 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

the whole palm dev team at Palm is from Apple, with a couple of old IBM dudes thrown in....Palm was so close before they ditched Linux on PalmOS. If this team had been around then, there'd be no other name in handheld electronics. better for us they weren't though, because so many names (HTC,Google, Microsoft,Apple, Palm...) makes for good competition and continual quick improvement.
