Radio Appearance Forthcoming, other stuff
Hey everyone. I will be doing my weekly segment on SuperSport 930 out of Jackson, Miss., in a bit. That extravaganza will begin around 9:05 a.m. CST.
We'll be talkin' Auburn, the Heisman Trophy, Tiger Woods, Tim Tebow, Doug Barfield. The usuals.
Be there or be rectangular.
SCHEDULE UPDATE
Auburn has released its practice schedule for the next few weeks. There is good news for j00. A few of those practices will be open for 30 minutes, which means you'll get some practice video. Aren't you excited? Maybe we'll get some footage of scout-team stalwarts PPL and Tyrik Rollison.
Dates: Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (Dec. 18), Saturday (Dec. 19), Monday (Dec. 21), Tuesday (Dec. 22).
Then they're off until Tampa.

Has Uncle Lebo walked around campus and talked to students again since the end of last season? I thought that he had broken through into the guy then. Team was playing up to or beyond their talent level at the time (certainly beyond their size), he was suddenly personable, and the program seemed to have some life in it.
Guess the more things change, the more they stay the same.
I was under the impression that the programming interface for the Pre is proprietary, while with Android, it is open. That is where the true difference will lie, in my opinion. It wouldn't surprise me if the iPhone was unix based underneath, although I haven't heard that. I would go with the more open OS anyday.
parts are, parts aren't. same with Android, and anything else. very little is completely open. I disagree with completely open as better. economic theory teaches us it's not a good thing. the public land for herders analogy would work. t ends with dead land and dead livestock.
...anyway, the dev suite is just as open on WebOS as Android 2.0(if not more accessible at this point). Anyone can make and distribute any app they want....I'm sure you'd hate it, though.
Additionally, there are going to be multiple vendors selling Android phones. There is some concern about portability due to the number of build of Android, but applications are to be largely portable between manufacturers. Can you run an iPhone app on a Palm? Not going to happen. Android is the way to go. Not to mention that Google is going to be pushing apps for it. I can't see the Pre keeping up in terms of apps. The iPhone is ahead, but they will likely be caught quickly. Developers like open architectures.
Who would hate what?
Are Vanderbilt and MSU the only two SEC teams not going bowling? That seems pretty incredible to me.
I see and like the multiple vendor argument. Finally, some substance. I'm not sure that it matters, but it's an interesting point. Apple has a readable market share in the personal computing area, and they never bought into this, so we'll see. As you know, smartphones are still a young market. It may be a while before we know anything about the future.
yep. I never thought college football would ever get to the parity levels of baseball and basketball, but it looks like we're headed that way.
I am not sure where you are lacking substance, but check out this link. This is open. Does Apple have something equivalent? All I am aware of are APIs, which is basically very limited. Google is actually another huge plus. They are becoming like the new Microsoft in terms of the market place.
The plus for the iPhone may be their app certification. They are less likely to have buggie apps in the market place.
Nerds.
Don't lie Jet..
You want to be like Peter, wtc, Steve, & myself..
:-P
& Jay G too..
He probably knows more about this stuff than the rest of us...
I send emails without using a technological device.
I don't know anything about that stuff. All I know is the Droid is the most enjoyable experience I've had on a smartphone, so if anyone else is not a phone guy, but wants a smart phone, its a good place to start looking.
With that in mind, anyone know of a good football blog around? This is a great phone blog but I'm in the mood for some football talk.
Wake ...
You're obviously in the wrong place. You thought this was HABOTN? Nah, it's Poindexter Central.
I just picked up tickets to see Eric Clapton in Atlanta in March, can't wait.
Hi Hotties - back from a haircut, a long google chat with 2.0, feeding Molly dog, etc.
Thanks to all for the discussion of smart phones. That was very good info.
wakerider - HABOTN = hottest android blog on the net
Clapton ... reminds me of Layla ... the Orange Julia I wish would hold up a sign for me. I'd commit on the spot ... But decommit later.
WERK, you said ticketS, meaning one for you and one for me right? RIGHT?
Football talk...
Ok...Heisman winner
What say you?
My sources say Verizon has it in the bag. AT&T got alot of first place votes but too many voters left them off of their ballot altogether.
Just arrived back in the Ham from Auburn. Dan Cater has made the TOP 5 in Auburn Idol !! We are soo proud of him. Coach Taylor was there and he and Dan did a chest bump in the lobby after the show. Dan teaches Taylor's doughter Ali. I told Taylor to go to bed because of practice today and he said he could not, had to keep 'cruitin'.
Watching UK and Indiana play on CBS. These freshmen are awesome.
Very good player for Indiana-a freshman from AL.
Very good player for UK-a freshaman from AL.
AU & UAT have to keep those guys in stte to be a force in college basketball.
My ballot:
Suh
Ingram
Gerhart
The result:
Ingram
Suh
McCoy
I think it's a typo on those blue uniforms. It should say "Memphis."
Ingram's a fine running back on a championship team, but he's not even the bast running back in his division.
I'm okay if a Heisman running back doesn't have the best stats in the nation, but I think he should at least be the best in his division and conference, and I'm not sure he is. I think that would be Anthony Dixon.
Ebro, then he's 3rd best in the division. You didn't include Ben Tate.
Ingram was the best this year. It's OK to admit it. I just hope he gets impaled by the 'Horns.
I don't have a problem saying Ingram is better than Tate. Hey, the Nazis had some good soldiers too.
I even think he's better than Gerhart, I just happen to think he's not the best in his division.
Spiller gets my vote. Past that, I'd give it to McCoy. I know he stunk it up against Nebraska, but I think that game show his importance to his team versus Ingram. Ingram had a bad game against Auburn, but they were still able to beat us that final drive more or less without him.
McCoy had a bad game against Nebraska, but they still needed him to engineer the game winning drive at the end, even if he almost engineered it into the ground.
We got a 1 star QB commit according to Scout. There has to be a story here, I can't believe we are bringing in a 1 star QB.
Too much Heisman and not enough cell phone talk going on here.
Just got a text from D&B that we got a commit from Woodlawn athlete Christ Davis (3 star/ESPN). Not sure if this is the same one Wake was talking about. Anyone know anything about him?
Yep same thing, except scout has him as a 1 star QB instead of a 3 star Athelete, the 3 star athlete thing seems more believable.
Wake,
I did say ticketS, however I'd be divorced if I didn't take my wife.
Sorry buddy.
Let me tell you a story, once upon a time a very famous golfer was caught cheating. As it turns out he was cheating with many women. Everyone assumed his wife would leave him. But you know what she didn't, all he had to do was give up golf and she stayed.
Now while this story is obviously 100% made up the moral is still true. Your wife isn't going to leave you if you take me to the Clapton concert.
Did ya'll know that Missoula Montana is one of the great places to watch a football game? It's true, Pam Ward just said so.
SE Missouri State up 14-0 over Grand Valley State.
AUGoldMine: Recruiting gurus say Auburn picks up commitment from Woodlawn High's Chris Davis, on Gold Mine blog
Davis doesn't have a rivals rating. He is characterized as an athlete. I would suspect they are going to make him a DB. Behind the offensive and defensive lines, that seems to be where we need more players.
Davis is characterized as a QB on scout.
Today, my basement is one of the great places to watch college football. It's a lot warmer than Philadelphia or Missoula or Florence.
And Man United fails to pull even with Chelsea at the top of the table after a toothless display at Old Trafford.
Sigh...
E-Bro,
You going to the 1-AA championship game next week?
at least they aren't in danger of being relegated. West Ham lost again today.
Navy's QB should break Tebow's record for most rushing TD's in a season. That makes me happy.
RK...nope. Heading to North Carolina next weekend for a family function. You?
THT...thanks for the perspective.
Yeah, I've been fortunate enough to watch every championship game in Chattanooga from the warmth of the press box.
unless he gets afflicted with the goofy uniform curse that got Tebow in the SECCG. Those unis are just wrong.
what time is practice today?
RK...lucky dog.
For those interested, the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game is on Versus right now.
thanks e-bro, I had completely forgotten about that.
The Uniform curse continues.
any particular reason the Alabama punter had to check the play call on his wrist band?
New thread UPZ.
