Home Improvement
Hey everyone. Today we will hold the first poll in HABOTN history, providing you the opportunity to make yourself heard.
Well, sorta. I won't actually hear you.
I have my own opinions about this, but I'm keen to see what you all think.
Auburn's most improved player. My definition: The player whose value, in your eyes, jumped farthest from Aug. 4 to Jan. 2.
You may vote for two. I know it's tough. I have listed the players in alphabetical order to perhaps prevent my top two guys from being at the top. Or near the top. Or the bottom.
So have at it. Get out and VOTE.

I abstain. At least until I've read the poll.
THT on the loose
I'm surprised Chris Todd isn't an option.
Daren Bates could easily have gotten one of my votes.
That was a tough one.
I only had 10 options.
Our very first poll. Wait a second, we've had polls before, haven't we?
If a lot of you believe Todd should be an option, I can rebuild this in a jiffy.
Not on the blog, mtd.
In the chats, yes.
23 votes already.
Nice!
I would favor Todd being included over Smith or Carter.
As far as Stepehens, I think he was The Unsung Hero on defense. Didn't get near the recognition of the others, but was equally important.
See, this is rigged. How can Bates be "most improved" if he started from zero. Adams and Bynes, my votes count twice.
Eric Smith and Neiko are not getting much action in the early going!
So yeah, I probably should have.
Based on early returns, though, I doubt Todd was going to win this one.
Adams, fo sho. Went from "Darvin who?", to "you da man".
Phred, I guess it would be what you expected from Bates vs. what you got from Bates.
Darvin Adams and Craig Stevens. I think Craig was overshadowed by many of the other players but he was rock solid most of the year and filled in admirably as a starter on the strong side.
i don't see how D Adams doesn't run away with this one. He got my vote, and we all know how smart I am
Eric Smith was almost one of the guys I went with. I figured he'd do fairly well in this thing.
Guy made a number of clutch catches that I in no way, shape, or form expected him to before the season started, especially after his little incident.
This thing comes with a map, shows me where everyone is (basically) and how that person voted.
I gotta get this up on the blog for you. It's interesting!
I agree, JGT. I would have had a hard time giving Todd one of my 2 votes, but definitely would have had him in my top 5.
Has "Earn $5 Cash Now" received any votes?
How can you say Darvin Adams was the most improved player? He was great from the start. In my opinion, Neiko Thorpe is the most improved player. I think he will be even better next season and very valuable asset to the defense.
Yo dude, you can't reveal our votes! This is a Republic of Posters with a Democratic format. Our vote is private.
Luv, he was good, but he emerged into an all-sec type receiver and is definitely the go to guy in this offense. On Aug. 4 he was just a dude that caught a TD in the spring game.
I went with Darvin and Demond Washington. Demond came from nowhere to pick up the mantle of punt returner that had apparently been greased, coated in teflon, and smeared with vaseline.
*Stevens
Stepehens? I don't know where that came from. I'm not currently under the influence.
It doesn't say "Phred's house, 2233 Rodeo Dr., Beverly Hills, Calif., 90210."
Oops.
Demond is big in the pacific northwest. That's all I'm sayin'.
Because Darvin wasn't even on the radar before the season, then he went and broke school record for catches in a season
I voted based on where they were from a playing standpoint last year. A lot of these guys were really good last year, or not at AU so I don't have anything to base it on. Atleast that's what I'm telling all you people.
I you click on "comment" after you vote, it will display the votes and from where they arrived.
Tommyd playing his cards close to the vest. A player.
Adams seemed like a clear choice. The second choice was harder because a lot of the choices were unknowns rather than players who have improved.
I gotta start reading instructions.
That still isn't saying he the most improved. It just says he didn't play before this season. Darvin was always good. Neiko wasn't so good at the start of the season, but look how far he's come.
seriously, no Chris Todd? Ben Tate?
Why isn't Dax Dellenbach on the poll?
No way Ben Tate is the most improved. He was the franchise player before and after the season.
I have to respectfully disagree on Neiko, Luv. I think he was as good as we thought he might be at the end of the year.
If I had to pick someone else though outside of Darvin, I would probably pick Byrum as he was much better this year than last.
Agree with Jay G on Ben Tate.
Looks like it'll be a battle for second place.
ALSO: Word is that Neal Brown will take the job at Texas Tech. Holy cow.
Adams and Bates got my votes based on the definition given us by Jay G. On August 4, I never dreamed that Bates would even play, much less start every game. And I never thought Adams would be All-SEC. (He made the Official Coosa ALL-SEC team.)
I wouldn't have voted for Todd; I knew he would be good. It was only his mid-season injury that kept him from being the All-Sec QB.
Chris Todd should definitely be on the list. He'd be my first vote. My second vote was for Adams, naturally.
I love maps, JGT. That's cool.
Who's our Hottie in Waukesha, WI?
That reminds me. Did the walk-on long snapper from Whitefish Bay, WI ever enroll at Auburn? Charlie Knipper is the name.
Re: Neal Brown...
You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas; you've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone
I'm definitely not voting if there's a map. Peeps know where I be.
New thread UPZ re: Neal Brown to Texas Tech.
for a more reliable sample, we still need votes from Europe, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. Hopefully, 2.0 will be on line sometime today and cast her vote. That will take care of Europe.
And 2.0... No, I am not going to fly you around the world just so you can vote from different continents.
Not sure how anyone doesn't go with Darvin with their first vote.
After that, I went with Eric Smith. I feel like going into the season, most of us expected to see Eric get mop-up tailback duty against Ball State and Furman. Instead, we got several huge catches for first downs that maintained drives and helped us win games.
Our top receivers were arguably Adams, T-Zac, Mario and Smith, in that order. That's a pretty big improvement for a kid that was going to be riding the pine for most of the season.
My Demond vote is reppin' Pompano Beach, FL, even though I live a good two hours north of there. Which is fine- I wouldn't have enjoyed seeing it pointing at my computer desk.
I'll say this: Eric Smith was one of my votes.
Darvin wasn't because I knew he had skills and would get his shot this season.
My vote from Anchorage, AK isn't showing up on the map. Not sure why. We do have the intertubes up here, but just get a late start on the day compared to the east coast.
"Most Improved" means to me that the player had to be on the team last year. Since Bates was a true freshman, I didn't think he should be on it. And Yes JG, I do believe that Todd should have been on it more than some others. He defintely 'improved' this year.
On CTT hiring Brown and offering Willis, I see it ironic that CTT is getting all of his coaches from the state of Alabama.
And for those that think that the spread will fail with CTT again, the one main difference is TT already has the players in place for the offense, and the coaches coming will be more able to work with any existing coaches as opposed to the 'conflicts' we had at AU.
61: I saw your vote earlier. I promise. I don't know why it's gone earlier, but it was displayed this afternoon.
