All we have are the embers

In this spot earlier today was a TWO HOUR Video Campfire®.

We discussed Auburn's 2010 signing class, broke that down fully, discussed the 2008 class, broke that down fully, talked about baseball, basketball, Clete Thomas, Auburn baseball never making the SEC Tournament, old media passes.

I'm not able to track UStream viewers like I can here, but special kudos to our top contributors: THT, Scottie, Cincy, Scott C., Sean, E-Bro, Luv, bigdaddy334, chipchip, clayburn, ckeenan, missinit, AWK, Freep, bellefay.

Thanks for participating!

4:55 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

btw, I'm going to have to talk to AU athl dept about sending me one of those true media guides this year. The official 2009 media guide was a travesty.

4:56 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Not laughable, sensible in a usually snow free area. Three inches in Alabama is probably the equivalent of a 6-8 inch storm here and you usually get rain first which means ice.

thankfully, I still have the 2008 media guide somewhere around here. Probably in LGGB's room

5:06 PM
Blogger michael said...

What was wrong with the 2009 version, THT? If the 2008 version was the bomb, then there is clearly a negative correlation between a good media guide and on field success.

5:11 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I figure it would be closed since Metro still isn't back up all the way. Could you imagine putting a couple hundred thousand more people on the already stressed roads? I wonder about Metro's competence a lot more than road clearing.

I still need to get into the lab for a while and make sure everything is OK. Fortunately that last snow drifted behind my car and left the front mostly clear.

5:17 PM
Blogger Tar Heel Tiger said...

MJT - all media guides were ''the bomb" until 2009. This past year, they turned it into a picture album. They got rid of almost all of those wonderful records and statistics that made it a media guide.

Metro above ground has been mostly closed since Friday. They got most of it open Tuesday then had to close again Tuesday night.

They run below ground on a very reduced schedule.

6:11 PM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

Yuck. Which line are you on?

6:12 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Yellow or Blue from Pentagon or Pentagon City. Both go above ground before going into DC. If the right buses are running, I can get to the Orange line which tunnels under the river.

Now the Metro server is down so I can't check the status.

I go to bed at midnight and Meridian,Ms has a 5"-7" snow forecast. I wake up at 5am and the forecast for Meridian is now 1"-2".

I'm betting that except for a few isolated examples, the weather folks have over-forecast again.

This would make 4 snow over-forecasts for our location this year. We did have 1/4" of snow one day.

At least our schools didn't over-react and cancel this time.

Here's wishing safe travels to those in the southern snow.

Good Friday Morning, Hotties! Why do the weeks seem to be getting longer and the weekends shorter?

I enjoyed the video chat yesterday afternoon. Since I don't study film or scour internet sites for info. on recruits, it was great getting Jay G's perspective on things (although, since I didn't take notes, I won't remember any of it with my memory - or lack thereof!). Thanks, Jay G!

5:23 AM
Blogger LuvAU1968 said...

I think I've said this before, but the meteorologists around here need to stick to severe thunderstorm forecasting. They just need to tell us what the NWS is saying and that if it doesn't pan out, blame them. Like Hoopie, said, they haven't gotten on snowfall forecast right this season.

Morning Hotties, last day of training for me. 16 people plus an instructor in this class and only 4 of us are local to the area and won't be impacted by ATL canceling flights for the massive snow coming to town around mid-morning. Sucks to be them, or really anyone hosed up like that.

6:38 AM

Morning all you winter weather survivors, I hope your stocks of bread and milk are plentiful. I made it to work this morning in the frigid 36 degree air, and almost saw a snowflake, although it could have been a cigarette someone tossed, too.

However, according to the wether channel radar there's stuff going on in Alabama from Birmingham - south. You guys and gals seeing anything yet?

7:51 AM
Blogger Miller said...

Eddie, it all depends on which QB you're throwing snowballs at. I would have felt comfortable tossing one at Leard. I never would have thought he could actually hit me if he threw back.

That's incorrect Luv, according to the weather channel radar, you are now under a light snow, and should have atleast 16 inches (or maybe a lot less) falling on you right now.

I'd love to believe you Luv, but this is supposed to be a snow storm the likes we haven't seen since... well for a long time. So someone must have put out a picture in front of your window showing no snow falling or something like that.
