Your Friday Thread

Hey everyone. I am in Kentucky handling some family business, which means my ability to blog is essentially zero.

I'm on dial-up. Forgive the blog's rough appearance.

I'll soon begin writing a story for Sunday about the Tigers' 2010 signing class. Should I deem it an overall success? Yeah, probably.

For the guy who emailed and ripped me for covering the "negative" news associated Marcus Lattimore, let me break some news: The sun doesn't shine every day. Look out the window.

Feel free to comment about whatever strikes your fancy.

Have a nice day.

4:07 PM
Blogger michael said...

Harrison, you aren't thinking clearly. What you do is write the "to" address as yours, and the "from" address as the authorities, and then find an old used stamp and put it on there, and then write "return to sender" on it. Works like a charm!

4:20 PM
Blogger Harrison said...

You're really smart Michael, but i got around the problem by just drawing a picture of a stamp on the envelope.

K. When we notify the authorities then, I will be sure to have Harrison make the stamp a drawing of you being eaten by bigfoot. Or maybe he can shake it up a little bit and show bigfoot clobbering you in the head after a short foot chase.

I have been up as far as Timberline Lodge. It is where those searches you see on TV originate from. I believe it was June when we went. We were in shorts. It was in the 70s in Portland. It was snowing at Timberline lodge and there was next to no visibility.

PF, way to political, but I do think that the don't ask, don't tell policy is one of the weirdest things I have ever heard of.

I also read an article today where the military is now providing the morning after pill in all the hospitals.

Both of those subjects are very touchy to many.

If you made the right decisions the night before then there would be not need for a pill on the morning after. Ignorance nor alcohol are excuses.

Blogger Unknown said...

Yea, at one time I would have too. Years ago I traveled a lot, mainly in Alabama, Tennesse, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Just driving around town I have always been the slow poke, but give me interstate and I made time.

7:05 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

me, too, THT. Got asked last night. I didn't tell, but that stupid box on his dash did. Freaking Panther crossing zones causing random and sudden 15mph fluctuations in the speed limit at night.

7:08 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Newton will be very interesting. I watched some of his play in the JCNCG. He looked okay as a passer, but any time Blinn got near the red zone, it seemed like he was read to run. If he can pass as good as Todd, he will be tough to stop. The guy doesn't run like a QB. He looks like a big version of Tebow carrying the ball.

7:08 PM
Blogger CHB said...

PF, no I do not. One subject is showing some responsibility to prevent an "accident" the other tries to get rid of the accident.

7:08 PM
Blogger CHB said...

On a different topic, here is one reason we recruited so well this year. The coaches did a wonderful job, but the fans helped a lot.

Blogger Unknown said...

PF, I hope I never again see Kodi throw a pass.

7:10 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

you watched some of his play in that game? C'mon! You practically gave a tape delayed play by play of the game one night. Some. Nice.

7:11 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I also find Caudle interesting. He was suppose to be a big time recruit. So far his highlight film for his career at Auburn is pretty much that one 50 something yard run he had last season.

If Cam isn't the starter, I will be surprised. As for the others, I have no clue. Moseley, Trotter, Caudle, or Rollison may all have a shot if Cam isn't the guy.

As for Kodi, I have no idea where he can contribute this coming season. We are loaded at receiver. I suppose we could use a 4th string tailback.

7:12 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

PF, I think you are right. I do think I commented a lot on the first half.

7:12 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Nova, it wouldn't shock me if you never see Kodi get any more playing time. I hate it because he was very mature in the way he handled things last fall, but when you look at the talent at wide receiver, it is hard to see him in the playing rotation. As for wildcat, why would you need a wildcat QB if your starter is 250 pounds and runs like a tail back?

7:15 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I think they'll find a way to continue to use Kodi. He made himself a hero with that speech and I don't think that ends with last season. The team needs Kodi to play a role, just not at QB.

Perhaps, but I think it is the same reason that Hawthorne left the team. There just isn't enough balls to go around with the receivers we have. The last count I did, we had 13 receivers. That may have been before hawthorne left, but includes the 4 signees in this class.

I also wonder if that QB we lost to Ole Miss will end up being their starter. I think his name was Ray Cotton, but my memory isn't what it once was.

My completely unbased speculation is that Kodi and Tyrik split time as the Wildcat, and that formation continues to be part of Gus's playboook.

I don't care what you guys say, I think Kodi threw at least one TD pass in the Outbacok bowl. Unfortunately, the defense wanted the ball more and made big plays (I'm not willing to say both could have been TDs, but you put the right receivers in those routes and both have a chance).

I think Kodi will be a much improved WR this year. We really need someone that can run the ball to use in the wildcat.

Cotton has a good chance to be the starter for the Rebs from what I've read (which isn't much).

I suppose a wildcat QB could come in to give Newton a break, but I do think there are others that might be better at it.

It is not nearly so clear this year what will happen past the starter, which I would be shocked if it wasn't Newton.

As for Rollison, he is a huge question mark in my book. There is a reason he wasn't recruited by any other big name schools. I am afraid we will see why.

Long ago I watched film on Cotton and he did remind me a bit of Campbell. Until a QB plays in college, you really can't tell, though. See Neil Caudle:) He was suppose to be good.

Didn't Ole Miss graduate almost their entire offense, like 8 starters or something like that?

Newton wouldn't have been recruited if Gus didn't see him as the likely starter. There's no other reason to spend a scholarship on a JuCo QB.

That doesn't mean the fix is in, but he's got the talent and the most experience.

Kodi did have a some good passes and he had some very bad ones. Overall, I've been underwhelmed by his QB play.

Complete offensive overhaul, yes, including coaches. Look for them to suck.

"graduate" might not be the best choice of verb, SteveFC, but yes, 8 offensive starters from Ole Miss have completed their eligibility.

simply amazing. No news at all today, and we're closing in on another page flip.

It's a bit misleading since we are listed as having 2 California signees. However, they are both JUCO; one hails from Minnesota, the other from Louisiana (I think)

ok, I've run out of material.

Let's go back to the BC coaching situation and discuss how it has been effected by Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Chrome web browser.

I like seeing us recruit on a national scale. We will always have to do good in Alabama and Georgia, but picking up top players from other states is a great sign.
