Your Friday Thread
Hey everyone. I am in Kentucky handling some family business, which means my ability to blog is essentially zero.
I'm on dial-up. Forgive the blog's rough appearance.
I'll soon begin writing a story for Sunday about the Tigers' 2010 signing class. Should I deem it an overall success? Yeah, probably.
For the guy who emailed and ripped me for covering the "negative" news associated Marcus Lattimore, let me break some news: The sun doesn't shine every day. Look out the window.
Feel free to comment about whatever strikes your fancy.
Have a nice day.

Flip it, Normie!
Norm is like a Swiss Watch....always perfect timing.
Norm...steady as a rock!
CH=B - I got it from Google Chrome's site. Here is a link
looks like I was too late. That'll teach me to do work at work.
Luv, are you a friend of Jay on facebook? Check it out.
actually SCoats, that's a more specific link; thanks. I was afraid I'd spend hours looking at all the cool extensions on the google extension page.
y'all should also check out Harrison's new facebook status. I can't wait to hear Michael's response.
hoe come none of you guys won't be my friend on facebook or follow me on twitter, or come to my house?
Because you're a witch/warlock.
Harrison, I should unfriend you on facebook for that lack of acknowledgement. But I won't give you that satisfaction. I'll be over tonight. Let's have hot dogs & burgers.
I didn't know you were a twit(terer), Harrison. What's your twit id?
55 posts the entire National Signing Day in '08.
Absolutely no newsworthy items today (other than Harrison's facebook status) and we're up around 250 posts.
I asked for nominations for a new avatar a few days ago. So far I have recieved 0. I guess everyone likes the Hoff.
What is harrison's fb status? He apparently isn't my friend there.
sorry, D.Miller. I am Harrison's only FB friend.
Well, THT and some models, but that's it
THT- all out of burgers and dogs. Do you like cabbage?
Harrison - if you'll run your lawn mower over it and turn it into cole slaw.
Harrison, I heard THT was starting an all-mushroom diet.
harrison...
I searched for harrison on FB and got "about 270,000 results". It's going to take me a while to sort through those for Ron Burgandy's pic.
That's even better, i can get tons of from people's lawns in my neighborhood
With the way things are looking, may not see grass here until August.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Don't bother looking for me. I am on Facebook Elite, reserved only for wealthy, good looking people, that are tall and tan and good at sports.
ehyou. i can't look at facebook stuff at work...plus I'm not really on facebook (don't tell the others, especially THT)
it's going to be a looooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg search
Wow, ehyou! Harrison looks different without his blazer.
I hate flying.
they've certainly taken all the fun out of it, Jet.
You are no longer deserving of that name.
PF ..sorry, but we can't rate you as a punk.
I'm sure you wish you were still young and stupidly brash enough to rate a punk, but alas life has smacked you and imparted wisom that holds you back just enough from punkdom.
Besides you are married now and punkishess would cost you a fortune.
i hate it too, but I hate it because i always feel like I am going to die
a jet that hates flying is a fast bus.
Sweet. So does that mean I can frolic on your lawn?
Oh hai guys
*Caution Sarcasm Ahead.
JGT, I thought you were a homer? Why would you go cover negative news?
You must be one of them Bammers in the Alabama media.
hey boxhead and Michael
Joy .... Pain ...
Sunshiiiine ... Rain....
The light/fan fixture in my room has 3 bulbs, I always like to wait till all 3 go out before I replace them so I'm not constantly replacing bulbs. Typically they go out pretty close to each other. But I've been living with only 1 light for about 2 months now.
USC-California got a verbal today...from a 13 yr old QB.
http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2010/02/05/report-david-sills-13-year-old-commits-to-usc/
Wake, there's got to be some sort of recruiting analogy there, but my brain is already in Friday shut-down mode, so I'll let somebody else try to figure it out.
Has Norm's kid committed to Auburn yet?
Harrison, I think jhag scooped you on that one. Get some!!!
dang..i don't go back and read all you guys crappy comments. I am waayyy too busy for that
This comment has been removed by the author.
Harrison, your comment was just a little less crappy than jhag's original, so I actually looked at the link this time.
I read somewhere that Aairon Savage was granted a 6th year of eligibility.
When I was 13, I already had 3 offers. Of course, the offers were from the chess club, a group of dudes into dungeons and dragons, and the lunch lady. The first two asked me to join their groups. I won't say exactly what the last one offered.
WEG, no I'm not a friend of Jay on FB. Actually, I have no Hotties as friends on FB.
Well, it's time to go to Best Buy for a Wii (not my idea) and then to Margarita Grill for some queso! Enjoy the rest of your Friday, Hotties and War Eagle!!
Savage getting a sixth year means we actually have a nickel who has some experience.
an extra serving of gravy?
THT, you are making Harrison's crappy posts look better.
Btw, latest reports are that Aairon Savage has been granted a sixth year of eligibility.
I read somewhere once. And that was the end of that.
Hey, speaking of SteveFL, how is he going to Oregon? I thought he never went more than five miles from his house?
What do you guys think of the BC coaching situation?
I heard BC was going to grant a 13 year old a sixth year of eligibility.
the lunch lady offered Michael a quarter to rub her bunions ($1 to Christmas Vacation)
SteveFL is going to Oregon in his mind, no wait that's Arizona isn't it?
...or maybe it was six year old getting a 13th year of eligibility. There's so much news today that it's hard to keep up.
Can't be Carolina, he is already there.
3 friends and I signed up to play in a golf tourney tomorrow a few weeks back. Now they won't let us back out, it was a way better idea 2 weeks ago
I don't know if anyone saw this but Tubby hired Ensminger to his Texas Tech staff.
Comments?
On Michael's Facebooks page, it says the offer was for "onions", not "bunions".
Apparently, "Facebook" now has a plural.
Sean, you are an idiot.
No, IV, he's in South Carolina, home of sandlappers. There is only one true Carolina.
Scott, those comments are out of the scope of the question. Please stay on topic.
I can't seem to get the Auburn Everyday link for the Signing Day footage to work. It just finishes loading the Silverlight app, and the media player remains black. Has anyone else had this problem?
yuck, onions are even grosser..or more gross
Don't tell the gamecockers that THT.
He also has lunch lady written as lunch "lady" for some reason.
I thought the same thing, SC, but people have been calling me names, so I didn't comment on it. I'm trying to keep my negative comments neutral.
weagle, did you try watching it on the auburntigers.com website?
I'll tell everyone of those arrogant pretenders, IV.
As was said in the 19th century, our state is a veil of humility between 2 mountains of conceit.
SC, with the little embedded player? Yeah, but it does nothing when I click on the Play icon.
I hear Facebooks is the 3rd most popular site on the internets.
PF - neutral? that sounds interesting. Do you do that by making the comments positively negative?
You guys don't see my facebooks. If so, you would have commented on my celebrity doppleganger picture: Clint Howard.
weagle, I have the same problem. But I can never get page 2 to work, so what do I know?
Yeah, weagle, that's what I was talking about. I just suggested that because it didn't show Silverlight loading when I played it there, like it did on the CBS site.
Michael I always pictured you as that big mean guy from Happy Gilmore that beats Shooter's ass
Clint Howard looks really cool with that big red "M" on his bare chest.
You talking about the guy with a nail in his head? Yes, actually I do look quite a lot like him. Maybe a cross between him and Janis Joplin.
take another little piece of my heart now, baby
Yeah that guy. Mainly because you said you were pretty tall and pretty ugly...right?
Hottie Ladies & Gents. I declare it time for me to prepare for rapid departure a la casa.
ostalawinnebago
Right, Harrison. And I have a nail in a my head.
Someone notify the authorities! THT stole a winnebago!
OK people, it doesn't take that long to notify authorities.
I wrote them a letter Michael, but i didn't have any stamps, so it will go out on Monday
Harrison, you aren't thinking clearly. What you do is write the "to" address as yours, and the "from" address as the authorities, and then find an old used stamp and put it on there, and then write "return to sender" on it. Works like a charm!
You're really smart Michael, but i got around the problem by just drawing a picture of a stamp on the envelope.
What did you draw? Hopefully a commemorative Elvis stamp.
Or maybe Sacagawea. Yeah, she'd be good to draw too.
I drew the new Bigfoot stamp
I hope it was an action shot of him eating a human next to a winnebago that may or may not have been stolen.
Don't forget to draw in the beef jerky.
Silly SC, the beef jerky stuff is a myth.
THT first victim of a bigfoot attack, but hey, at least it proves there's some bigfeet or bigfoots out there
Pffft, like winnebagos are real.
I wonder if THT tasted like ice cream or tar?
So if anyone wants to check out that 7'1 kid I held to 7 points a few weeks ago he's playing on ESPNU right now. Jay Tate your potential next star at UK Brandon Knight plays at 7 tonight as well he only had 35 on us
Well lets not jump to conclusions, fellas. Certainly more people than THT have stolen Winnebagos. Let's hope it was one of them.
I'm leaving to look for the Winnebago. Please notify the authorities if I'm not back in a few days.
K. When we notify the authorities then, I will be sure to have Harrison make the stamp a drawing of you being eaten by bigfoot. Or maybe he can shake it up a little bit and show bigfoot clobbering you in the head after a short foot chase.
Quote from the local news up here "Without Atlanta, Georgia would be Alabama."
I think SC will be molested by the bigfoot
Longest.Puppet.Hour.Ever.
I think it started sometime around 8am, and it's still going on.
Get some!
Changed my mind. No longer interested in the Winnebago. That Bigfoot character sounds a little sketchy (which will be good when Harrison draws him). I'm going to buy beer instead.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Actually I think most big foot sightings involve copious amounts of alcohol. So if your really trying to avoid big foot, you might want to stay away from the beer.
I don't think that's an option Wake. We'll just have to learn to coexist with them.
after I got home i called the authorities and told them someone left a stolen winnebago in my driveway. They hauled it off to test for DNA or prints. I drove home inside a plastic garbage bag, so I'm safe. But I should have gotten a bag that wasn't already have full of garbage.
Ciao Hotties!
Thank y'all for the birthday wishes on the previous page. I'll be 26, or so i'm telling everyone.
THT- you and your wife need to get on google.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Let's try this again..
Happy Birthday THT 2.0
I told someone "tu muerte" today in a road rage incident after making a Gilbert Arenas like gesture towards him. He was yelling at me in Spanish, a langage which I know about 20 words in, so that was the only response I could come up with. Considering the area of town I was in, I'm luck to be alive.
Thanks, FSJ.
Happy Birthday to you too; i'm sorry i missed it.
Happy Birthday 2.0
How many consecutive episodes of Dora the Explorer can I watch tonight?
Thanks 2.0
what on earth is that FSJ?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2.0 and you don't look a day over 25. Really , you only look like you are about 18.
THT,
It's the best show ever. If I watched it more, I would've understood what that dude was yelling at me earlier.
THT..
My three year old is addicted to Dora...and something called Wow Wow Wubbzy.
Been gone most of the day but want to say Happy Birthday 2.0
We believe any thing you say 26 fits you.
For Scott C and IV from Lubbock, I am flying to Oregon. It is a work thing. I hope that is sufficient to satisfy the peanut gallery.
Ah, you are flying Southwest huh, complete with peanuts.
Wrong as usual, IV from Lubbock.
Have a layover in Lubbock do you?
I feel your pain FSJ, my FAUWG loves it. I feel she should master engrish before trying Mexican (sorry that was kind of racist I think...I meant Spanish).
Southwest airlines now gives you 2 bags of peanuts.
New inticement, that plus you don't pay for luggage.
Wrong as usual, IV from Lubbock.
That is IV far from Lubbock to you.
Wrong as usual, IV from Lubbock.
stay away from Mt. Hood, SFC. People go there to die.
Is Oregon within your 5 mile radius of home that you don't go beyond?
It could be worse FSJ. It could be Barney.
or Yo Gabba Gabba
How do you know he doesn't have a 2nd home in Oregon, IV?
You are on top of things tonight THT.
But how does he get from one home to another if they are more than 5 miles apart?
I am with you THT. I was up there a few years back when those 3 hikers died. Also, I believe 3 more died up there earlier this year.
I have been up as far as Timberline Lodge. It is where those searches you see on TV originate from. I believe it was June when we went. We were in shorts. It was in the 70s in Portland. It was snowing at Timberline lodge and there was next to no visibility.
I went there in August once and the weather on mountain wasn't bad, but I am not anxious to go back.
I know, by bus.
IV from Lubbock, but a map.
Is that but or butt?
I don't think IV is usually wrong. Occasionally, sure. Sometimes, maybe. Usually, that's a stretch.
IV from Lubbock. I have already explained how I am getting there. You may want to take your medicine and re-read the blog before you assume room temperature.
Thanks PF. You know genius when you see it.
PF, IV from Lubbock is a serial liar so he his constantly wrong by definition.
Okay Steve, that's enough. I have never called you a liar, so can it dude.
Then stop the childish remarks.
You the only one acting childish idiot.
Ah, the serial liar returns.
I think SFC and IV should hug.
I don't hug an a$$hole.
You know that to be fact? dang.
Strange, you would have so much in common.
So, gays in the military?
PF, way to political, but I do think that the don't ask, don't tell policy is one of the weirdest things I have ever heard of.
I also read an article today where the military is now providing the morning after pill in all the hospitals.
Both of those subjects are very touchy to many.
If you made the right decisions the night before then there would be not need for a pill on the morning after. Ignorance nor alcohol are excuses.
Consider the application of the don't ask, don't tell policy to traffic laws. It would change the world:)
That subject's touchy to many? Really?
Oh yea. I do think that medical science has allowed people to be more irresponsible, but that is about as far as I want to take that discussion.
So, who will be our long snapper next season?
CH=B, do you feel the same way about birth control and condoms?
I would love a don't ask/don't tell policy in regards to my mph
I don't know about longsnapper, but I expect Cam Newton to be the holder on FGs and PATs after he loses to Kodi in the spring.
You know, if you repeat a word over and over and over again, after awhile it loses all semblance of meaning and becomes merely random syllables.
Lubbock. Lubbock. Lubbock. Lubbock. Lubbock.
Yea, at one time I would have too. Years ago I traveled a lot, mainly in Alabama, Tennesse, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. Just driving around town I have always been the slow poke, but give me interstate and I made time.
me, too, THT. Got asked last night. I didn't tell, but that stupid box on his dash did. Freaking Panther crossing zones causing random and sudden 15mph fluctuations in the speed limit at night.
Newton will be very interesting. I watched some of his play in the JCNCG. He looked okay as a passer, but any time Blinn got near the red zone, it seemed like he was read to run. If he can pass as good as Todd, he will be tough to stop. The guy doesn't run like a QB. He looks like a big version of Tebow carrying the ball.
PF, no I do not. One subject is showing some responsibility to prevent an "accident" the other tries to get rid of the accident.
On a different topic, here is one reason we recruited so well this year. The coaches did a wonderful job, but the fans helped a lot.

PF, I hope I never again see Kodi throw a pass.
you watched some of his play in that game? C'mon! You practically gave a tape delayed play by play of the game one night. Some. Nice.
I also find Caudle interesting. He was suppose to be a big time recruit. So far his highlight film for his career at Auburn is pretty much that one 50 something yard run he had last season.
If Cam isn't the starter, I will be surprised. As for the others, I have no clue. Moseley, Trotter, Caudle, or Rollison may all have a shot if Cam isn't the guy.
As for Kodi, I have no idea where he can contribute this coming season. We are loaded at receiver. I suppose we could use a 4th string tailback.
PF, I think you are right. I do think I commented a lot on the first half.
Nova, it wouldn't shock me if you never see Kodi get any more playing time. I hate it because he was very mature in the way he handled things last fall, but when you look at the talent at wide receiver, it is hard to see him in the playing rotation. As for wildcat, why would you need a wildcat QB if your starter is 250 pounds and runs like a tail back?
I think they'll find a way to continue to use Kodi. He made himself a hero with that speech and I don't think that ends with last season. The team needs Kodi to play a role, just not at QB.
Perhaps, but I think it is the same reason that Hawthorne left the team. There just isn't enough balls to go around with the receivers we have. The last count I did, we had 13 receivers. That may have been before hawthorne left, but includes the 4 signees in this class.
I also wonder if that QB we lost to Ole Miss will end up being their starter. I think his name was Ray Cotton, but my memory isn't what it once was.
My completely unbased speculation is that Kodi and Tyrik split time as the Wildcat, and that formation continues to be part of Gus's playboook.
I don't care what you guys say, I think Kodi threw at least one TD pass in the Outbacok bowl. Unfortunately, the defense wanted the ball more and made big plays (I'm not willing to say both could have been TDs, but you put the right receivers in those routes and both have a chance).
I think Kodi will be a much improved WR this year. We really need someone that can run the ball to use in the wildcat.
Cotton has a good chance to be the starter for the Rebs from what I've read (which isn't much).
I suppose a wildcat QB could come in to give Newton a break, but I do think there are others that might be better at it.
It is not nearly so clear this year what will happen past the starter, which I would be shocked if it wasn't Newton.
As for Rollison, he is a huge question mark in my book. There is a reason he wasn't recruited by any other big name schools. I am afraid we will see why.
Long ago I watched film on Cotton and he did remind me a bit of Campbell. Until a QB plays in college, you really can't tell, though. See Neil Caudle:) He was suppose to be good.
Didn't Ole Miss graduate almost their entire offense, like 8 starters or something like that?
Newton wouldn't have been recruited if Gus didn't see him as the likely starter. There's no other reason to spend a scholarship on a JuCo QB.
That doesn't mean the fix is in, but he's got the talent and the most experience.
Kodi did have a some good passes and he had some very bad ones. Overall, I've been underwhelmed by his QB play.
Complete offensive overhaul, yes, including coaches. Look for them to suck.
"graduate" might not be the best choice of verb, SteveFC, but yes, 8 offensive starters from Ole Miss have completed their eligibility.
simply amazing. No news at all today, and we're closing in on another page flip.

Jon Solomon of the B'ham News compiled a list of where all the SEC signees are from:
Georgia: 65
Florida: 46
Mississippi: 37
Alabama: 36
Louisiana: 19
South Carolina: 17
Texas: 15
Tennessee: 12
Arkansas: 8
California: 8
Virginia: 6
North Carolina: 5
Ohio: 5
Oklahoma: 5
Kentucky: 4
Kansas: 4
Maryland: 3
New York: 2
Missouri: 2
Illinois: 2
Pennsylvania: 1
Connecticut: 1
New Jersey: 1
It's a bit misleading since we are listed as having 2 California signees. However, they are both JUCO; one hails from Minnesota, the other from Louisiana (I think)
from same article, Jon Solomon shows this tally for Auburn:
Auburn Tigers
Alabama: 11
Georgia: 8
Florida: 3
California: 2
Arkansas: 2
Missouri: 1
Mississippi: 1
South Carolina: 1
Kansas: 1
Texas: 1
Louisiana: 1
TX signee is from GA;
Kansas signee is from GA
ok, I've run out of material.
Let's go back to the BC coaching situation and discuss how it has been effected by Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Chrome web browser.
I like seeing us recruit on a national scale. We will always have to do good in Alabama and Georgia, but picking up top players from other states is a great sign.
Oh, for the love of Mike.
That's pretty interesting. I expected more from Florida.
We can't leave it this close. Where's norm?
I know it's slow
