Your Friday Thread
Hey everyone. I am in Kentucky handling some family business, which means my ability to blog is essentially zero.
I'm on dial-up. Forgive the blog's rough appearance.
I'll soon begin writing a story for Sunday about the Tigers' 2010 signing class. Should I deem it an overall success? Yeah, probably.
For the guy who emailed and ripped me for covering the "negative" news associated Marcus Lattimore, let me break some news: The sun doesn't shine every day. Look out the window.
Feel free to comment about whatever strikes your fancy.
Have a nice day.

Freep...
There is one difference.....When it happens in my teams' favor..it's perfectly rational..
Just kidding.
CH=B I will give you some time before I post any thing else.
Johannesburg Substance
A quick search enabled me to remember the Daphne OL's name: Atlas Herrion.
The abortive AU signing ceremony and his subsequent signing with the Tide was in December 2000. A little digging produced this classic quote from the archives:
Junior-college signee Atlas Herrion said many schools - "almost every last one of them" - told him Alabama will likely go on NCAA probation.
Asked which school used the most negative tactics, Herrion replied, "Auburn."
"They were telling me, 'You don't want to go over there, they're probably going to go on probation and they don't even know who their coach is,'" said Herrion, a Daphne native who signed last fall and enrolled in January. "They were just spreading rumors and everything else."
"If I really thought they'd put us on probation," Herrion said, "I wouldn't have come myself. I think it's just speculation. I don't see us going on probation any time soon - or any time, period."
Microsoft packaged IE with Windows as a way to kill off Netscape.
It worked, but IE sucks...bad.
Atlas should have went to visit Miss Cleo before committing. He was sorta off on that probation thing.
DL - stay out of the minivan taxis that are filled with kids
Agreed 100% Faker. . .its' only wrong when someone else's school does it!
I echo the sentiment expressed on the previous page: why even HAVE a big announcement ceremony like this, when NSD is still 360+ days away?
That said, he looks/sounds like a pretty good prospect - here's hoping his word is his bond (this time)!
65 65 58 seconds left
come on Tigers!!!
67 67 overtime
wow...OT this has been a pretty good game.
We are in big foul trouble though, so this could get ugly.
I can't stand to "watch." I think I'll go check the mail.
Lett is a sub 30% foul shooter!!!That is terrible. My 2.5 yr old FAUWG can shoot that well. Although he did just hit two.
Ark 74 Aub 73 Ark's ball
This game is over.
For all the good that Reed does....
Ark 80 Aub76 15 Sec
well, rats.
thanks for the updates
Looks like we're right on schedule to a 4-12 SEC record going into the tourney.
I just can't see us hanging on to Lebo if we can't do any better than that.
down by 3 Aub, one last shot with
2 sec
Ark 82 Aub 79 Final
I feel bad for Sullivan. He is a player and as much as I am glad he is on our team I wish he would have gone somewhere that wins. He is only a sophomore so maybe things can turn around for him.
Yea his half court shot looked like it would go in but didn't
Region got to know Coach Grimes well while in AU for the Jr day. He really likes Grimes, and the other coaches. He also plans to major in an Agriculture related field...
If he's majoring Ag, AU is the right school.
Interesting that according to Google the browser now used by most of their visitors is Firefox. Firefox is open source and its code base is developed by Mozilla - son of Netscape. Google also offers a simple, fast browser, Chrome. I like the bells and whistles of Firefox, plus it's also fast.
I was shocked at the Region announcement.
Safari is also Mozilla based. The features are almost identical to Firefox. They seem about the same in speed. I use Firefox primarily for a database at work that's certified only for that browser.
My work also switched to Firefox.
A comment from Region from earlier this fall:
"I grew up an Alabama fan. I love Alabama," Region told Scout.com in October. "I have always hoped one day I will get to wear the crimson and white. It will hurt if I don't get to do that. Alabama is my overall favorite. I feel at home there. I love it down there. I have been going down there for so many years that I just feel comfortable."
Fast Forward to today..
“At Auburn, I know they have my best interest in mind. I don’t think that was the case at the other place. That’s why I changed my mind and me and my family are happy with my decision.”
Something tells me that there is no chance that he and UA end up together...at...all.
Did he say why he was announcing so early?
First post from my new phone....android seems like a cool OS so far. We'll see.
I want me one of those Androids!
astatguy,
Early commitments seem to be the "in" thing to do right now...for whatever reason.
This one is bothering you isn't it, FSJ?
I've heard a lot of people say good things about Android.
It has finally stopped snowing for the first time in 30 hours. The cleanup has begun. It will take about a week for things to get back to normal.
I just read that Region is an honor student wants to major in agriculture. "Auburn is where I need to be to do that". No wonder he chose Auburn.
Bothering is not a good word...I just find it strange...that's all.
If his heart is truly at UA, he'll probably wind up there. I suspect he realized that the reality did not match his dream.
If he wants to be an AG major, he really needs to be at a land grant school.
I don't think there is any way he ends up at UA now. Maybe he goes somewhere else, but I doubt Saban would take him after this stunt.
I am kind of baffled at how he describes growing up an Alabama fan. If Alabama had offered me a full ride scholarship to play football, no way I could have taken it. No, nobody offered me a scholarship:)
There's nothing unusual about someone growing up a fan of one school and ending up at the other, either because they don't get the offer or because they decide it's the wrong fit.
It's the timing on this one that seems strange, there was no evidence of wavering ahead of time.
I actually did get a scholly offer to Bama - a partial ride for academics. They were trying to build up their engineering school. I went to Auburn and ended up teaching there (and later UGa).
Separate subject - Alabama needs a board of regents to keep schools from developing competing programs.
This may get me banned, but I grew up a UA fan. When you are growing up you don't get to make your own choices. Things are forced on you. It started when I was very little and I just stayed a fan. As I got older and closer to graduating HS I began looking into Auburn. I visited both places with friends and really loved Auburn. So that is where I went. I can't put it into words but I quickly bought into everything Auburn. There is just something about that place.
When I got to AU in 1998 we were not good at football or basketball, but something took hold of me and I have been AU all the way ever sense. I can't believe I was ever a fan of the enemy, but like I said I didn't have a choice.
Point is I can see where Region is coming from. It may have happened a little differently for him, but I am positive if he spends anytime on campus he will never look back. I haven't.
sense=since in my previous post.
CH=B, Sincere conversions are forgiven their past transgressions.
Thanks Nova, because that was as sincere as I can get.
CH=B, I was afraid to tell my Dad I wanted to turn down the scholly and go to Auburn, but when I got back from the recruiting weekend at Bama I told him it didn't feel right. He suggested we get in the car and drive over to Auburn and take a tour. He made it easy, and that's just one way he was such a great father.
Welcome back from the Dark Side CH=B.
On another note - I got to paint ceilings in my house all day today - It just doesn't get any better than that....... Oh Wait..... Yes it does.....
Blazing Saddles coming on AMC. It's been forever since I watched that movie.
Obama has given the storm a name "Snowmageddon"
Forgive this long post, but I told Cincy that I would share my engagement story with her. I will make it as short as possible. This story is just one of many reason I am AU all the way.
Keep in mind that my wife was in the AU Choir.
It was the December after we graduated so we still had friends that lived in Auburn. My wife knew I was a huge sports fan. That made it easy to come up with my plan. I told her that we had a bb game on Saturday and I wanted us to go down for the weekend and stay with my friend Chris. She doesn't follow sports that closely so she didn't know that the bb team was actually out of town that weekend. I did not have my plan fully in place, but I knew it would involve Aubie. I had already made several phone calls and was connected to one of the students that played Aubie. We get to Auburn that Friday night and hang out like normal. I tell her that the next day Chris and I are going to go Christmas shopping (a lie). So the next day my plan begins to unfold. While he and I are out buying some wine I come up with the idea to tell her that the AU Choir will be singing Christmas Carols in front of Samford Hall. I contact Aubie and inform him of my plan.
Saturday night arrives and we go to Hamilton's. During dinner I tell her that while "Christmas Shopping" I saw a flyer for the Choir and she was really excited about hearing them sing. We finish dinner a little early so we walk to get ice cream (in December, so my plan had a couple of flaws). She seems to be getting a little suspicious at this time, but I keep the conversation going and throw her off. After ice cream we head over to Samford hall. We are the only ones there. So she is getting anxious and ready to leave because she thinks I misread the flyer (you know the one I made up). I tell her to lets wait a few more minutes.
About 5 minutes later Aubie comes walking from the dark with a Santa hat on and a toy bag over his shoulder. I had told her that he would be there for the kids. He walks directly to us and does a little dance. He then points at me to reach in the bag. I pull out a package that turns out to be an Aubie bobble head doll. He points to my wife to do the same. He present was a little nicer than mine. She pulls out her ring! I then get down on one knee and in front of Samford Hall and Aubie I propose. We were all bundled up because it was freezing and our tears (of joy) seemed to be sticking to our face.
Aubie was thoughtful enough to have his girlfriend hide in the bushes to get pictures, but they didn't turn out because it was too dark. We did get a picture of us an Aubie. My mother-in-law had that picture at our wedding and all of our friends and family wrote nice messages on it. It is now framed and hanging in my Auburn rooom.
Logan tiger, so what color is your hair now?
Nova, I am watching Blazing Saddles too. I learned recently that the Clevon Little part was actually originally written for Richard Pryor.
Good story astatguy. It's good to have parents like that. I was/am not really close to my parents so I didn't have that luxury. I think that's one reason I love Auburn so much. I did everything on my own. Everything from the enrollment process to graduation. It was tough at times, but it made me a better person.
My story on college choices.
I grew up a Bama fan.
I never wavered.
The End
:-P
FSJ, some people can't fight the dark side.
LT-I just finished painting the bathroom right off my daughters bedroom and she doesn't live here anymore. That is 3 times in 7 years for that room. i am done with it.
I know..
Being a bandit is hard to resist.
wtc,
Jeff Lewis and Richard C. Davis would be proud of your remodeling skills.
Good story CHB.
I spent all day driving around the county I'm going to work in deciding what part I want to move to. When I was driving home I figured out I had spent enough time in the car that I could be at Auburn by that point.
Its a huge freaking county.
I will post only one quote from the Regions kid:
"I felt like I was taken for granted even by the coaching staff at Alabama. That's just not where I need to be. I'm not about to go into that kind of program."
FSJ-I agree now. I don't think UA will take him, if he wanted to change to them.
Ole Miss' coliseum is more poorly lit than ours....And that is saying something.
Faker, I'm like you.
My Dad and all 4 of his siblings graduated from Auburn.
After he retired from GA Tech, my maternal grandfather taught at Auburn.
There was never any doubt for me.
I am the devil.
Rivals has a ranking of signing classes by offensive position. Auburn only made it into one of the top five rankings. You may be surprised which one.
If Region did really change his mind so quickly, he really wasn't ready to commit. The kid should have taken some time to mull it over.
Or so the post count says.
My journey to Auburn started with a letter from bama. They were offering me a full ride to come, I decided I would go visit and thought I would go to see Auburn also since one of my good friends was going there. I also visited UGA, Emory, Berry and maybe a couple more on the same trip.
I didn't like the small schools, but really liked UGA when I visited. I had already been to pretty much all of the schools in Florida, and FSU was the leader but I didn't love it. I got to Auburn and just fell in love, the scholarship Alabama offered me was much better than what Auburn offered but I had no question which school I'd rather be at.
It came down to getting paid to go in state (FSU) where most of my friends were or the school that I loved. I didn't decide until the deadline, but I obviously chose Auburn.
My college story:
I grew up hating bama.
I never wavered.
The end.
:-P
not surprised at all Steve about the OL. I was a little surprised that we didn't make it for WR. Not sure were they ranked individually but Reed, Goodwin and Richardson as 3 of the best in the nation.
We made our decisions for different reasons, but in the end we all did we we felt in our heart. It was the right decision.
I thought we would be in the top five at wide receiver, too, but the offensive line is great. It was our most pressing need. I was paranoid about OL depth in 2011. Seems silly to have worried now:)
Spencer Region Commit Video
The absolutely best part of Blazing Saddlers is when Mongo punches the horse and knocks him down. I love it.
The absolute best thing about Blazing Saddles is everything from beginning to end. There is simply nothing disappointing about it.
Dang. Somebody's gonna have to go back and get a ****load o' dimes!
Get some!
I just noticed where USC passed Florida for the number one class on rivals. Pretty impressive job by Kiffikin.
has anyone seen the underworld movies?
Thanks for the link DM.
I'm willing to take the kid at his word. I think he really wanted to go to Bama, but for some reason he just didn't click with the staff.
Does anyone watch Blue Mountain State? It's kinda funny if you can get past the bathroom humor.
my story on college choices (for all you sissies that didn't decide until you started growing up):
Born with a UA-T hate gene on Chromosome 13 and an AU obsession gene on Chromosome 7
Auburn was in on the kid a long time before Saban was. Saban came in a couple weeks ago and bumped him and gave him an offer... then tried to hotbox him... tie him into a commit or lose the offer type of threat...
This essentially pushed him away. AU told him they wanted him, whether he committed now, or whenever... He really feels comfortable with the coaches, loves Grimes. He also plans to major in Ag, and feels his best fit is AU.
Everything Mel Brooks did is pretty funny. My personal favorite is Spaceballs.
FSJ - i'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure they use candles at The Beav
Something interesting I found about chrome this afternoon is that chrome operates each tab as a separate "instance" of the program. When you open up the task manager, you see chrome.exe running x amount of times, where x is the number of windows open. I know Firefox and explorer just run one instance, dunno which ends up being more efficient. But I think that's why chrome runs quicker than firefox (in my experience.)
Norm ... I love Blazing Saddles .. Except for the last 5 minutes.
thanks for that video, D.Miller. I'd love to see an unedited version.
Mr & Mrs FSJ don't look too happy over against that far wall ;-)
6+BEASLEY!!!!
Yeah, I'd say based on his posts earlier today... FSJ, is a bit miffed by the Region commit.
WHAT? You went over my helmet?
of the 2 Cullman cheerleaders facing the camera, it's obvious which one is going to Auburn and which one is going to UA-T.
The dark-haired one looks like she's about to start crying (see her facial expression at 34 sec & 47 sec). The other one is all smiles.
Okay, so the last 5 minutes or so are weak as compared to the rest of the movie, but I stand by my previous statement on Blazing Saddles.
I like everything Mel Brooks except perhaps High Anxiety, I thought that was a big letdown.
May the schwartz be with you...
I bet she gives great helmet.
It's been so long since I watched it I forgot the last 5 minutes. Well, I'll know in about 20 minutes.
Spaceballs! The toilet paper.
"NO!"
A good Mel Brooks fan would recognize and identify the above.
Not that it's a test or anything, I just always got a kick out of it.
I need a little more to go on Norm. I admit I haven't seen many of them in a number of years.
"NO!" is the only spoken word in Mel Brook's "A Silent Movie". The thing I got a kick out of is that it was spoken by Marcel Marceau. A mime. A mime has the only line heard in the movie.
OK, I thought the ending fit Mel Brooks' pattern of mocking Hollywood cliches very well.
I don't recall seeing that Norm. I'll have to find it.
what makes someone want to grow up to be a mime?
oh hai
LOL D. Miller...
I'm no more miffed about this commitment than any other player..I just find the circumstances a bit interesting.
Besides, weren't you the one the other day telling me there is some concern as to how good this guy is?
Mimes aren't born, they escape from their box.
D. Miller's explanation makes more sense than anything I heard yet.
MJT - you misspelled that post. It's Ojai. A city in California. No big deal but I thought you'd like to know. I won't tell anyone. You're welcome. Your pal Norm.
I hate the song Lili Von Shtupp sings. It really bothers me I have no clue why.
I love anything that Gabby Johnson says.
"Not only is it authentic frontier gibberish"
"Tell 'em I said 'Ow!'
Gotcha!
What'n the wide, wide world o' sports is a'goin on here?
Someone call Jay G Tate and see if he will go interview this Spencer Region. There has to be a good story there. Mr. Region, did you at any time during your announcement use the slang word gotcha?
Norm, Spencer Region executed a perfect Grecko-Roman kick to the nads of Nick Saban. It is the wow moment in sports so far this year and possibly will eclipse the Super Bowl as the most notable event this weekend.
Ruth
I just read a comment on al.com that the FBI is going to investigate Auburn over the Spencer Region commitment. I don't know about you, but I am terrified. There is actually a Bambi out there in this world dumb enough to believe that the FBI gives a rip about recruiting in small towns in Alabama. Simply incredible.
Although it pains me, I have to agree with Faker on this Regions thing...his own comments will make it impossible for him to flip back to ua..I seriously doubt they would give him the chance even if he had a change of heart. Regardless of the circumstances, I am glad to steal one from that pipeline. Wasn't there a Britt at ua for twelve years or something?
probably been posted but...

Wish there woulda been a crowd shot.
norm...
Your 14 min grace period on the Mel-Brooks-Movie-Call-Out is ninnyish.
Let's play chess.
well, let me tell you what I like to do...
Mel Brooks and the Coen dudes are awesome. End of discussion.
Yes, FSJ, I did say that I had heard an AU fan question how good the kid would be... but I also mentioned that the same person insinuated he thought Region was going to Bama in the same sentence...
I have not seen him play... I do not know how good he is. My uncle lives in Cullman... I plan on getting his assessment of the kid.
I do love running across very unique comments later on. This gem is from AL.com.
"GOD BLESS YOU, KODI BURNS!!!
LIKE YOU SAID TONIGHT, YOU STILL HAVE THIS YEAR AND TWO MORE YEARS AT AUBURN...YOU'LL BE FINE!
YOU'LL STILL EVEN PLAY THIS SATURDAY TOO!!! YOU ARE THE FASTEST QB I'VE EVER SEEN, MAN.
YOU ARE STILL GOING TO LEAVE AUBURN AS THE GREATEST QB EVER TO PLAY ON THE PLAINS. YOU SURE DID NOT BELONG AT ARKANSAS. NO DOUBT!
WE ALL LOVE AND SUPPORT YOU, KODI!
...WAR EAGLE!"
i may be breaking HABOTN protocol or something, but folks need to see what our coaches are doing.
andrew bone wrote this for scout.com. he is the epitome of bammer influenced "media". the comments from mr. region are compelling as well.
Spencer Region, offensive guard from Cullman, Ala., gave a private commitment to the University of Alabama on Tuesday and reconfirmed his commitment to the Tide Friday night. Region surprised more than 100 spectators, most in Alabama attire, when he announced his de-commitment and commitment to Auburn.
"After a sudden change of events I am officially de-committing from Alabama and giving my commitment to Auburn," said Spencer Region. "A few things have happened in the last couple of hours I am not at liberty to talk about, but I am happy to be an Auburn Tiger.
"I committed to Alabama on Tuesday. I told Nick Saban I was coming there. He was really excited about my decision. I started thinking about my decision on the way to my press conference and just didn't feel comfortable with it."
Region spoke with Scout.com Saturday morning prior to his press conference telling the reasons why he would announce for Alabama at noon. He also informed Scout.com to release the story at noon, but had a last second change of heart.
"I apologize for giving you my commitment story this morning," Region said. "I was committed to Alabama, and that's where I believed I was going. I had planned to come here today to announce my commitment to Alabama. I spoke to Auburn on my way over here and felt more wanted by them.
"I chose Auburn because it's a real nice place and nice campus. I know they had my best interest at heart. I love them, and they love me. They have done a lot for me. I feel like Auburn is back and hope I made a big splash in this recruiting class.
"I slept on it last night and thought about it this morning. I spoke to coach Grimes this morning. He did not pressure me and told me to do what makes me happy. I am happy, and my family is happy. I feel like I am going to be successful. I know when I am at Auburn we will win the SEC.
"I probably decided about 11:30 a.m. I wasn't going to Alabama. I didn't feel at home. I didn't feel like they were my family. I went with what had my best interest at heart. I went with Auburn.
"My family and I talked about it. They are happy with my decision. Football is a great sport, but without your family you have nothing. Auburn really preaches family, and they are going to take care of you. That's what I am all about."
Region will also take a look around at other schools who may have his best interest at heart before signing day in Februaty of 2011.
"I will take my visits," he stated. "That was a big thing. Auburn is encouraging me to take my visits. They want me to visit as long as I stay committed, and I plan on doing that. I am going to Florida State February 20 and Ole Miss February 12."
we still may have to fight some others for him in the future, but i don't think bammer will be one of them. he didn't leave too much wiggle room to go back to the cousin humpers with some of his comments about how bammer pressured him and took him for granted.
My thoughts exactly, Feng.
It's way too early in the year to actually expect him to be around by next Signing Day, but you can't help but laugh at how that went down. The best bammer explanation I've heard is that he knew all along that he was going to Auburn, but played the media in order to embarrass Nick Saban.
Feng always has something profound to say.
The kid had a dream. He was offered a chance to fulfill that dream and jumped on it. Once he thought about, he realized that fulfilling that dream was neither what was best for him nor what he really wanted.
Have a great weak, HABOTN. I am off to the airport. Go Saints!!!
Hotties are too strong to have a great weak.
Have a safe trip to the left coast, SFC.
Rough weekend for the Penguins. They lost late yesterday afternoon in Montreal, had to fly to Newark and take a 5 hour bus ride to get to D.C. They arrived at their hotel at 2:15 a.m. and play the best team in the league at noon. This will not be pretty.... except maybe for AU1N04 and NoVa.
GO PENS!!!
Good Sunday morning, Hotties!
I just read chip chip's post from midnight last night. What in the world could have happened just a couple of hours from his announcement? That comment just raises more questions. I want to believe that the truth is that UAT pressured him too much and took him for granted and that Auburn welcomed him into the family with open arms with no pressure, but...
Well, it's time to head to church!
Ummm... We're still under a state of emergency. Very little is moving other than plows. Metro is running only below ground.
More snow is expected Tuesday night.
They're actually going to play a hockey game with almost no fans present?
I guess they figure if the other team can get to the arena from another country, the local fans should be able to get there, too.
Frankly I'm surprised the DC government hasn't made them cancel. No wait, nothing the DC government does surprises me.
Two Mules for Sister Sarah is over. I guess it's time to go clean off the car before it turns into ice. At least I don't have a driveway to shovel.
The more I read comments about and from Region I think his decision came down to one simple thing. He feels more comfortable with Auburn. They didn't pressure him to commit and they didn't pressure him end the recruiting process completely. $horty's attitude and approach may finally be catching up to him. The walmartians will still recruit well, but I think their dominance is over.
I really like how are coaches are preaching and selling recruits on family. Family is what Auburn is based on and that is what we are known as a fan base.
It really was a case of being more comfortable...
AU didn't pressure him like Saban did... he didn't expect that, and it threw him for a loop. That made him realize that one side really only thought of him as a mercenary, while the other side would treat him like family. Which side would you choose?
anybody else watching the story of barbecue on the History Channel?
They are talking about our former coaching staff (and TT's current one) on the History Channel?
well, it started out about bbq but went into all different kinds of foods and the inventions behind food preservation. Very interesting stuff.
No player from AU, UA-T, or Texas has ever scored a Super Bowl touchdown. Interesting list of all the Super Bowl touchdowns here.
We got any CPA's on here? Shoot me an email, I have a question about how to deduct my wife's med school tuition.
i was never aware that tuition was tax deductible. Is that so?
interest on tuition loans may qualify as a deduction.
Can't wait to hear from a Hottie CPA.
It's time to escape.
THT...
I think it is on again in 30 mins. I have the Tivo ready.
Who is everybody rooting for today?
In no way will I ever cheer for Peyton Manning.
FSJ - Tim Tebow
Yeah, THT, there are educational credits for tuition....dmiller, you know how to email me.
Tim Tebow...lol (yuck,but funny)
I rarely watch the Super Bowl, but I'll at least stick around to see the Tebow commercial to see what all the hullabaloo is about.
I agree THT..I want to see the commercial.
Finebaum was discussing it with some guest on Friday but I wasn't in the car long enough to hear everything.
if Finebaum was on my car radio, I'd bail out, too.
Aaron - Mobilian and MLB's all time career homerun leader
THT..
You still watching the History Channel?
They are discussing the history of SPAM...
The food, not the email.
I rooting for a shoot out. I don't really care who wins in the end. As the game goes on I'm sure I will start pulling for someone. I just really want to see all the funny commercials. There are always two or three that are hilarious. I also want to see the Tebow commercial. People can make all the jokes they want, but no one in their right mind can say he isn't one of the best young men ever to play the game of football. I think anyone who bashes him in any way is deep down jealous.
as a child, i had my own paper bag to wear. GO SAINTS!!!!!!
peyton beat DC & AU in the 97 championship game. he owes me one.
Another cold day on the banks of the Coosa River. I am ready for spring.
Come on Spring practice and the real "A" day game.
WAR EAGLE.
Screw Tebow.
for those that have not seen it go to www.auburntigers.com and click the auburn everyday signing day video link at the right.
watch that 5 minutes and tell me we don't have something special going on there.
i take it tebow is not going to be the next spokesperson for powdered toast?
If anyone was curious, I read this in the (Atlanta) paper this morning.
http://www.ajc.com/sports/cobb-man-not-peyton-291197.html
The guy who plays the Colts mascot was Aubie back in 2003. He's a year-round employee and basically visits children's hospitals/schools. In addition to spending time with sick kids, he got a Super Bowl ring from 06, married a Colt's cheerleader and gets to lead the Colts onto the field this evening.
I'm jealous.
depends on which Colts cheerleader he married... some might make me more jealous than others.
I just saw an advertisement with Tebow and his mom. Very understated. If that's the ad that folks are upset about, then they need to leave the molehill alone.
Get ready folks. The end of times are coming very soon. I just read an opinion piece that stated the Birmingham News was slanted to giving positive stories to AU and just short articles on UA. UA fans were requested to boycott the B'ham News because of writers like Goldberg were so pro AU. They went on to say how they would prefer to get their sports news form Cecil Hurt. Yeah, I think he is all about fair and balance. 'If UA wants Shon Coleman they can get at anytime' That Cecil Hurt.
wtc, I. have lived in the Bham area for over 11 years and the Bham News is definitely not slanted toward Auburn. That's why it has the nickname "Bammerham News." Even FSJ calls it that. The bammers are just pissed off because for the first time in a VERY LONG time Auburn is being talked about because Chizik and Co. did such an outstanding job recruiting this year. That's just not supposed to happen, don'cha know!
Anyone watching the Lady Tigers?
That is humorous, WTC...
Speaking of humor... Is anyone watching Puppy Bowl VI on Animal Planet?
D. Miller, I plan on flipping to that during commercials!
UAT is up by 7 with 7 minutes left in the 1st half.
The beagle just scored.
AU Ladies aren't on my tv, Luv.
Puppy bowl ain't my cup of tea... and I'm a dog lover.
O the misery. Penguins blew a 4-1 lead and lost to the dirty Capitals 5-4 in overtime. Caps have won 14 in a row and are closing in on the NHL record of 17 set by the PENGUINS in '93.
Where is THT? Terps up by 23 over Tarheels. Boy they are bad this yr.
And Caps come back to win....he might be grumpy.
Ahhhh...there you are!!
so i'm watching snowboarding competition on VS.
it ain't AU bball and it ain't March, so I don't really care. And yes, I'm grumpy.
I will check back after #18.
: )
Of course now that I have done this. Your record is safe.
For it to be Super Bowl Sunday.... there ain't jack on TV... sucks to not be feeling well, and nothing on the tv worth watching.
Tar Heel, so far, you aren't missing much.
AU1N04 - Jealous? ;-) --------->
I remember the good ol' days when Super Bowl Sunday meant Tommy Burleson, Monte Towe, David Thompson, Tim Stoddard, and Jim Spence going up against the likes of Len Elmore, John Lucas, Mo Howard, Tom McMillen, and Brad Davis. Those two teams were absolutely phenomenal.
I knew that didn't look right. It was Phil Spence.
A bit jeolous!
Luv - any FB news on JGT? They've been on my mind today.
Those must be hockey names.
THT - 26 inches of snow on the ground and a possibility of 10 more on Tuesday? Jealous?
Ok, maybe not.
Tar Heel, nothing on both fronts. I'm assuming someone passed away in his family, but I don't know who. He and I aren't tight - I don't know anything about his personal life.
AU1N04 - definitely! you got me on that one.
Thanks, Luv. Please let me know how badly the AU Ladies end up stomping UA-T. (see, I can be optimistic)
Tar Heel, our Ladies haven't held the lead the whole game. At one time before halftime, it was tied, but that didn't last long. UAT is up by 10 with 5 minutes left. They haven't been able to find any kind of rhythm.
Make that 12
ugh!!! Enough with the updates already!!!
(thanks, Luv)
They are coming back!!! Lead is down to 5!!!!
C'mon ladies.... complete the comback!
AU1, another 10 inches and we'll need to pull those puppies of the field and hitch them to a sled.
Curses! Our Ladies had the ball with 21 seconds left only down by 2 but UAT played great defense and wouldn't allow them to take a shot.
Final: AU 53 UAT 55
Tonight's game prediction:
The Team from the Midwest I Don't Care About: 34
The team on the gulf I don't care about: 28
MVP: The quarterback with the famous father and brother; a.k.a. Oreo licking guy
I hate UA-T
I hate 'em on this page.
and I'll hate 'em on the next!
Do you hate them on this page?
new page of HATE for UA-T!!!
THT ...
