Eddie didn't call anything. He came in late in a game where the opposing pitcher was a on a roll and made an observation in the most negative way he could. Crappy attitude to have it you ask me.
Not just Auburn, this is what's known as the let down. I've seen the Titans do it twice after being the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. I watched Arsenal hold first place for all but the last month and then blow it. NY Yankees in 2004...Boston in 2003...
Yes, we all feel this way but saying it is another thing. I guess I'm one of the sunshine pumpers and prefer it that way.
WEG,
That's like saying I caused the middle of the season skid in football by picking against Auburn for two weeks last year too.
:eyes rolling:
PF- You are wrong, you missed previous posts from previous days. Be sure to take that soap box with you when you leave.
PF - the Master of Piling On
Make sure to wear a badge that says defeatist when you head back to work.
Seanzie - the Titans have done that twice with the (of all teams) the Ravens.
Yuck.
Seanzie- I agree, seems to happen to most my teams that I follow. I'm now trained to think this way. I may have been one of the few to state it, but I'm sure others were thinking it. I just love how I get blasted for posting it.
PF - clean the drool of yours that says "a-hole"
There's really nothing like a good ole Grecko-Roman belly flop to start the day.
PF- LOL. You are a funny ninny.
"That's like saying I caused the middle of the season skid in football by picking against Auburn for two weeks last year too."
Two weeks?
I wasn't even talking to you, Sensi, but if the shoe fits.
I'm a glutton for punishment. I may go to the game tomorrow.
Surely someone can locate AU's real bats in the next 20 hours or so. Actually, I don't know if any of you realize this, but the SEC made AU play this game with tee-ball bats and gloves in order to give Bammer a better chance to win. They did something similar to ensure that UAT made the tourney in the first place.
Hey, the good news, it's double elimination. Let's go win the rest.
West Va. and Arky, RK.
In Eddie's defense, I believe he predicted this back when the matchup was announced.
Sensi,
I thought you picked against us every game.
When JGT posted this matchup the other day, I was on the verge of replying that occurrences such as these always inspire in me a feeling of impending doom, no matter what the sport, no matter what the circumstances. But I declined, deciding that I shouldn't dwell on those negative feelings.
That didn't work either.
Oh well, time to accept the fact that those b@st@rds will always be in our heads.
Well Auburn was setup to fail in this one, it was unfortunate pairing. The pressure is off and now we just gotta play our game.
Sensi, the skid was clearly your fault. We established that already. Own it.
Also, playing in Hoover is like a UA home game.
Nah, not every game, RK.
Just West Va., Arky, LSU, Ole Miss, and Alabama.
I tried the same strategy, Freep.
It was a tough matchup. Bama's pitcher played well. AU made a couple of mistakes. Pitching hasn't been consistently strong all year. This was not a choke job, it was one ball game played by a team that is far from perfect. The tourney is not over. The post-season is not over.
Not sure which was more fun - the tooth drilling yesterday or the baseball drilling today.
I agree, PF. We have too many old-skool Auburn peeps here though.
well, that was ugly.
me too, Freep and Choco.
man, i go away for 30 minutes and come back to a Jerry Springer episode. yikes.
seanz and PF. I feel ya.
We just had a lot of bad luck this morning. Hate to say it, but they were the better team today.
scottie, despite mentioning tuscaloosa, this is not a real jerry springer episode.
It was ugly THT.
Skimming through the comment section, seems like this game ruffled some feathers. It's double elimination. We've got to play AU baseball and win the rest of them.
Go get boys! War Eagle!
agreed Wells. just a little fussy, though. sux to lose to those.....things.
well as bad as all of us feel, it's a fraction of what the ball team feels. Hopefully they can respond.
Yikes! Didn't mean to start the calling of names
Oh Sensi, I didn't realize that was your fault..:)
With all the intelligence we have in this country, why haven't they capped that darn oil gusher yet? It sickens me to think of the marine life and ecosystem that are being destroyed, not to mention people's livelihood.
I agree with PF. The tourney is not over by a long shot and hopefully the bats wake up. I think they will, but just a tough hole to dig out of.
Agree Seanzie. I'm sure the players will have a long day today.
kathy, my buddy's dad, who works at red stone arsenal, said the government could shut it off if they really wanted to spend the money.
Eddie, no blame just a pokin' of fun...guess you have been picked on too much and need some sunshine in your life (such as Disney or the your girls!!)
Somebody needs to shut it off now!
OK, off my soapbox and back on baseball!
Bammer: "Hey, Scott Chocolate, we kicked your team's @$$ today!"
Me: "We were looking ahead to Regionals. Get some, C-Humper!"
WEG - it's not Sensi's fault. It's UA-T's fault. I blame everything on UA-T. Somehow or other, it all can be traced back to that wretched institution. I HATE UA-T! The hate locus is on chromosome 7, and it's been expressing hate in huge doses since I was a tiny embryo. Let me make this clear... I HATE UA-T!!!
agreed Kathy! Are you trying to change the subject? :)
Good one Choco! I'll remember that one. I'm sure I'll need it after lunch.
THT...definitely agree on that!!!
So UA-T is responsible for the gusher!
Yeah I had a guy at work already say something to me. I said congrats on learning UA has a baseball team. I'm sure our guys will be thinking of you at Regionals.
UA-T is obviously to blame for the oil disaster. That absolutely sickens me, too, Kathy. There's just no reason at all for it to still be gushing oil into the ocean this many weeks after. Heck, the emergency shut off valve on the ocean floor should have been activated the instant something went wrong.
Very few people know that "chump" was derived from "Cousin Humper". This word was created in the late 1800's so AU folks could call Bammers "Cousin Humpers" in public without offending any passers-by.
Bama needs to be looking ahead to Regionals. The rest of their pitching staff is not as good as the big, dumb redneck who threw the ball today, and they will likely have a very tough draw in Regionals.
Back here at 9:30 a.m.
OH WOW.
101d6h
i'll be on the interstate. i'll be awaiting the HABOTN twitter updates as i drive.
the countdown is SO close THT. can't wait! can i suggest Edmund Nelson at #99?
I'll be in Southern Pines, once again relying on Mr. Tate for AU baseball happenings.
Not another 9:30 a.m. game. Yuck.
Scottie B - it's all yours.
FUTBOL
The final 23 for the US has been announced. I'm fairly satisfied.
We need something different / unique for this year's countdown to the season. But now we need to up it somehow.
The oil gusher isn't capped yet because the problem is nearly a mile under water.
I also read where BP saw 3 warning signs during the hour before the explosion, but kept pumping.
This problem has gone on way to long and they need to use the last resort, namely shoving a BP executive into the pipe to stop the leak.
Seanzie- Last night left a lot to be desired. Hopefully the final full squad will be much more up to the challenge.
how about the top 99 ways to kill a bammer eddie?
j/k.....sorta....not really.
SFC - that is the best solution I've heard
scottie b - are you missing a ,?
You win some, you lose some, some get rained out.
I love the fatalist philosphy of baseball.
i'll clarify THT.
i was NOT kidding. :)
Eddie, last night was a tryout.
If we look that bad on Friday, I will be worried.
Ouch Scottie B.
That stings.
Seanzie- I know, that is what I was telling myself. The last World Cup outing gives me the jitters...goes along with the teams that I follow....
I would have taken Rogers over Beasley and was surprise to see Ching left out in favor of Findley, but Findley is stupid fast so...

Ole Miss 2, South Carolina 0. Top of the third. An Ole Miss win here would not be good.
Sorry I'm behind on the commenting storm today (had a job interview at 9am). I listened to the last bit on the radio and even Bramblett (sp?) sounded disappointed.I do wish everyone here would quit it with this doom an gloom business. Today was a tough loss, especially because of the opponent, but those guys still need our support to finish strong! There's been a little too much hatin' going on here today...and not the good kind I might add. I thought we were the Auburn FAMILY?
THT - why the deleted comment?
Mini - good luck.
how did the interview go, MiniWEG?
Norm - thought it better to remove surname reference
Figured that was it. It seemed pretty innocuous to me.
Thanks guys! It went pretty well, I think. I hope I'll hear something either way next week. I'm ready for this stupid recession to stop being everyone's excuse for not hiring me.
You and everyone else, MiniWeg.
that is a pretty big word for somebody who hasn't had any sleep Norm.
scottieb - That's a sure sign of my superior intellect. It never sleeps or rests. GET SOME!
oh i got it.
very clever.
how's that working out for you?
why can't FSJ come on here for a little smack talk. I'd like to ask him about the soon(?) to be released iPhone.
Ole Miss (Nike) and USC (Under Armour) both seem to have ditched their normal hats in favor of those manufactured by The Game as well...Is this something the SEC does instead of tourney patches?
iPhone 3Gs just got really cheap, THT.
I know, PF. They need to dump all that inventory before the new ones hit the shelf next month.
I'm disappointed we lost. We'll get 'em next time.
what are the expected upgrades of this new iphone ye speak of?
PEEPS:
I'm headed home. I see no need to stay here tonight (and accrue charges at my hotel of choice) when HABOTN HQ is available and southbound traffic hasn't yet picked up.
See you in a bit.
have a very safe drive, Commuter Tate.
godspeed.
Scottie B - that's what we need FSJ to tell us.
oh, ok. gotcha.
check out this sad nugget of info:
The Tigers have lost their last three SEC tournament games dating back to their last appearance in 2003. All three losses have been to Alabama.
I HATE UA-T!!!
iphone tidbit
As do I brutha...as do I.

Nevermind.
Scottie B - from April 8 businessinsider.com article...
Steve Jobs gave a big presentation on what's coming in the next version of the iPhone operating system.
He said there will be 1,500 new APIs for developers. Of that, he highlighted 7 big new features:
Multitasking
Folders to organize apps
A unified inbox
iBooks is coming to the iPhone
More features for the enterprise
A social network for gaming
Mobile advertising with iAds
________________
also I think I saw somewhere a front facing camera. Still probably won't be available to Verizon customers.
I don't read books. Putting them on a tiny screen isn't going to change that.
No probably about it. They upped the exclusive deal with ATT.
Well, we have certainly learned a lot today. Let me summarize.
Football Losses, Sensi's fault
Baseball losses, Eddie's fault
It is nice to see we have progressed and no longer blame coaches or players. This is definitely an innovation.
Ole Miss leading SC 2-0 in the top of the 7th.
Somehow I don't like our prospects of playing South Carolina tomorrow. This could turn out being quicker than a Tony Franklin exit interview.
Now, let me offer another dose of reality to the proceedings.
1. Small ball is infinitely more consistent than DongyKong ball. Might not be as fun, but more consistent.
2. When you're king of the DingDongs, you're a 1/16th of inch away from a flyout. When you play in a larger ballpark, that matters, too.
3. Perhaps we're also paying the price of not being ready for a morning drive time ball game. Last time we were in this event, some of folks around here weren't old enough to drive, vote, or drink.
4. A quick exit may cost us a regional, but better to play well in the next tournament than this one.
5. Hate status unchanged.
Dibs on credit for the wins.
This quote just in from the South Carolina pitcher.
"Ouch"
Jet,
AU plays a hybrid small ball/donkey kong ball game. Their average is tops, sac bunts are tops, and most other batting categories are either tops or near the top. That indicates a small ball team. They just happen to be really strong, too.
Steve,
You said that already. Kudos on bringing it back for a joke, though.
I have said what already? Ouch? PF, what are you talking about?
Don't do drugs. Drugs are bad.
Ole Miss leads 3-0, middle of the 7th.
Well, not verbatim, but that it wouldn't be good to face USC tomorrow.
speaking of USC, when are we going to get our crystal football?
Still 3-0, top 8th.
Umm, PF, I don't get your point, but no biggie.
Remains 3-0, top 9th.
This game reminded me of the UT game about 2 weeks ago. I was there on friday night and AU hit the ball hard, but right at the fileder. When they got a man on, they could not punch out a hit. AU lost 9-2, or something like that. After that loss, they went on a tear. Beat UT the next two games and never looked back.
The only problem I can see after listening to game one is that the fences may be back further, but that should not be a problem unless you are trying to play for the big score. This team can play small ball. If a couple of batters string together some hits, the others will get in a groove.
So South Cackalacky is our first obstacle in 'Auburn's Road To The Championship©'.
The UAt pitcher has been on a role. I think this was his 3rd complete game in a row. AU's mistake was not working the count. Several innings went by without him throwing many pitches. Also, do you think after about the 4th inning AU started pressing? The attempted hit and run was awful weak. Never run yourself out of an inning. AU runner was out by amile on that play. I sensed the team was deflated after move.
FUTBOL
Eddie...I wouldn't rad much into last night's game. Literally half of our probable starting line-up didn't even dress for the game. I am genuinely concerned about the backline since Gooch and Stevie C., two of our better defenders when healthy, played notable minutes. Still, let's see how the next two friendlies (this Saturday against Turkey and the next against Australia) go.
Sean...Agree on the squad more or less. Really surprised Findley made it over Ching. Ching looked good last night and Findley, while blazing fast, doesn't look ready for international soccer yet. I'm okay with Beas over Rogers. RR played well last night, but Beas looked solid as well and was probably our best player against the Dutch a few months back. Whatever, though, the 23 man roster has been decided and it's time to get down to business.
Headed to ATL later tonight for a compliance meeting that starts Thursday. Will not be able to check in, so everyone lock the knife drawer and just have a good tim elistening-watching the game.
Compliance is always a good thing.
if you say so.
I hear ya on the whatever part, Brad has his team, let's go to work!
but I'm not done hating ua-t on this thread!
