Auburn baseball wins again
Hey everyone. Kevin Patterson's pinch-hit DONG in the eighth inning scored three runs ... and helped the Tigers earn a 5-3 win at Ole Miss on Thursday night.
Implications? I'm glad you asked.
The Tigers now are one win away from clinching the Western Division title.
OTHER NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
**SP Cory Luckie allowed three runs in six innings.
**Relievers Bradley Hendrix and Austin Hubbard combined to hold Ole Miss scoreless during the 7th, 8th and 9th innings.
**CF Trent Mummey and DH Tony Caldwell had two hits apiece.

Bandwagoneers love baseball...Steer the coaches towards Hoover...then Back to Auburn for some hosting actions.
Then to Omaha for ze champions!
HEWVUR.
Kathy, great job with the first post!!!
JayG left us hanging on the last thread.
Hewvur...had to sound it out, then translate it through Hoopies patented hillbilly to english translaterator.
AU baseball is exactly where I want, at aminimum, all Au teams to be at the end of the season. You hold your destiny in your on hands. i hate to have to get to the end of any season and need to hope another team loses so AU can win a division or title. I like for AU to step up and take it.
Cincy scooped G on his own thread.
No, I just had to get everyone on the same post. I have enough trouble following the conversation without having to follow two!
Sorry. From last thread.
What I heard involved a young lady and accusations. However, the reason he's still on the team is there is some question of the validity of the accusations. And some evidence that it was sort of a setup! Anyway, just checking to see if others had heard something along this line. It's kind of out there, but comes from reasonable person.
It's unfortunate when things like that happen. You want to believe the young ladies when they make those claims but you see it far to often that they are not true.
Hopefully they will get to the truth before false accusations (if they are false) ruin his life.
I gave the bat signal, but nobody cared, so I don't care that you missed it.
I think in this case he was singled out. Chosen.
Thanks for the heads up on the new thread Cincy. (I know you're just setting us up for later)
Turds pick up a huge commit for 2011 basketball in Levi Randoplh tonight but Barbee will not give up
I thought you just misspelled nutz Peter.
Anyway. Don't have any of that verified. Just seeing if anyone else had picked that up. There's more, but wouldn't want to say anything without being more confident in the info.
Good catch, ehyou....I'll go back and fix it when the edit feature is added in 2012.
Wow Kathy the Lady Hotties are getting it done this week....I am sure Cincy helped.
Sponge,
Return to the speculation thread and repeat what I typed. That's what I heard from a friend of my nephew's uncle's cousin's boss...when I was hitting on said boss's daughter and buying Heinekens.
On to Hewver! I know this team can do it!
i would think we're one win away from hosting a regional
Sponge, I'm not touchin that with a 10-foot pole.
FEARLESS,
Agreed...West winners have a history of hosting.
PF. We will find out soon enough.
I would hate to lose Aycock. I personally think we are a little thin at RB.
CH=B I thought I had distain for all things Bama but I believe you have me and everyone else I know lapped.
Jay. I knew better that to even ask you about that one. In any event. Whatever he was involved in led you to speculate he was gone, which means it's pretty heavy. Yet he isn't, which also means there is some skepticism regarding his offense, whatever that may by.
You could just say,,hot, or cold.
I've been trying to console Steve. He's pretty tore up over the latest Suge incident.
Well, I can't say either way.
No charges have been filed against anyone on the team. We're watching that pretty closely.
I like this baseball team. Don't give up, and they can mash the ball. We will lose a lot of firepower off this team after the season, so we better make hay while we can.
WEE, thanks for sharing your information.
Jay, were you guys expecting charges? Or is that just something you guys make sure to monitor?
I sometimes am alerted to keep an eye out.
Why can't folks just show up and play? Always got to be some drama.
This team keeps amazing me. Pitching and defense tonight and our old friend, Mr. Dong.
Makes me wanna go to Whovur.
Seriously...bunch of prima donnas. We could start a TV series and it might actually get ratings.
Jet go to the tourney, i would if at ALL possible, i have loved watching this team
PF. Just remember, my info is from a friend of a friend of a cousin. Nothing to see here. Move along.
The REC is workin overtime tonight Turds pick up 2nd top 100 player for 2011 in basketball in one night. Rodney Cooper from Russell Co.
I've never any level of CWS game live. That would be really, really, very cool if we could host a round.
Dang, Weeman. Just remember, even Lebo could kick turds rear, and he recruited ......nobody..... Just like Chiz, I have a feeling Barbee will get his share. Hope he can coach.
Just got around to checking the market. Dropped 367 today. Giving up early year gains in big chunks.
just read a kendall rogers article predicting the regionals. He has us as a 1 seed, but playing at UConn who would be the 2 seed. I guess they would bring in more $
Weeman-Good pick ups, but this last kid was offered by UGA and UAB. Not a hotbed of for bball talent at those 2 schools.
Expect to hear comments now about grant wrapping up the state for basketball recruits. Really can't sya anything about barbee not getitng these kids. he was late to the table for them AND Au has no room right now for any recruits in 2011. Grant can take all he wants for 2011. unless we have attrition, Barbee will not be able to take on anyone.
wtc we have no scholarships available for next years class(2011)?
This comment has been removed by the author.
Correct.
AU filled all slots (6) for this coming class. AU has no seniors for 2010 class. Therefore, unless someone leaves, Au has no scnollys for 2011. That was terrible planning by the former staff. Never leave yourself a goose egg for 1 year in recruting.
WTC that is a terrible case of mismanaging scholarships. But will give credit where credit is due thought Grant would be Lebo esque good at X's and O's but no recruiting prowess. I guess I was wrong Grant got 2 instate recruits that lebo would never get. But hopefully we can have a spot for Trevor Lacy would hate to see the Turd get him also.
I think someone will leave the team next year. Barbee needs a big point guard and I think he has him picked out already. Just need to make room for him, which I think he will. you may hear something like, he did nto buy into the system, or it may be academic casualties.
vandy on top of arky.
vandy won, auburn is officially one game from clinching
Ladies and Gentlemen: Kevin Patterson has 33 hits this season.
15 of them? Ding Dongs.
BOOM.
Oh, and for those that abstain from twitter/don't follow AUTigerBaseball, you can see it here.
Click for dong.
Thanks well, i do abstain from twitter
AU moves 1 game closer to wrapping up the west, the Braves get a 7 run 9th to knock off a good team, and the Rays knock Petite around to sweep the Yankees.
Good night of baseball.
Morning all. Let's have a great Friday and clinch the West today.
I'm eight and the gate and heading to Huntsville later today.
Mornin'
Tomorrow is eleven years for me and the missus.
Morning Hotties and WDE. I'd like to second WTC in that I like the teams to control their own destiny. I'd second him on some other things but he's really just too much of a hothead for me.
This rainy Friday which may well be the beginning of a rainy weekend here brings us one day closer to football. Keep Hate Alive.
Congrats to Mr and Mrs ehyou.
Please, call me ehyou. Mr. ehyou is my father.
If AU wins either of the last two games, not only will they win the West but they will set an AU record for SEC wins. Not bad for a team the had so many injuries early on.
Baseball is a long season, but recall AU went to play AZ and got handed 3 losses. This team has gotten much better (in the hitting area anyway) over the season.
11 is such a dirty number. Congrats.
WTC,
That was. AZ State...MUCh better than AZ.
Not sure what's up with capitalization and punctuation in this browser....may switch to Opera or Dolphin until they fix it for evdrything but streaming content and flash videos.
Jay G,
Any chance there's a piece on Paws in the works? If I had to guess , most AU fans don't know a whole lot about him. Baseball wasn't getting a lot of attention when he came aboard, so there wasn't a buzz around him like Barbee. He's an interesting dude with a lot of fight in him.
"Church" to protest at funeral of Ronnie James Dio
According to the official web site of the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC) — an independent Baptist church and hate group known for its hatred of homosexuals and its protest activities (which include picketing funerals) — WBC is planning on picketing Ronnie James Dio's public memorial service on Sunday, May 30 at 2:00 p.m. at The Hall Of Liberty located at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, California. What will presumably one of WBC's standard "peaceful sidewalk demonstrations" is meant to "remind you who worship that old Serpent, Satan, that your time is very short," according to a post on the "Upcoming Picket Schedule" page of the web site. The post continues, "You know 67 year old, Satan-worshiping (or at least one of their enablers) Ronnie James Dio (of showing his devil horns to the world each time he goes in public) BLACK SABBATH fame is dead, right? We'll be there! Just because the chances of any of God's elect being amongst this group of heavy metal sycophants is slim to none does not mean they should not get some good words."
The post goes on to say, "Yes, it is true that Ozzy Osbourne did 'accidentally' bite off the head of a bat, but THAT is the least of their sins (little nasties!), they currently do not do that, but they throw raw meat to the audience and encourage violence of EVERY FORM!"
The WBC web site then proceeds to list "admitted sins of this now dead and in hell pervert: 1) He hates his neighbor(s) starting with Ozzy Osbourne, and continuing down to his pornography star niece Gen Padova! 2) He hates God. Pay especial attention to the fact that he changed his original sir name from Padova to Dio, which means God in Italian. 3) Ronnie the simpleton enabled, and encouraged Sorceries: everything he was about including the little finger horn thing (he got this from his mother which is an incantation to ward off the 'evil eye') to the drugs, bloody raw meat and his fellowship with those pentagon necklace wearing freakish band members."
The post concludes: "Yes, Ronnie James Padova (NOT DIO) is currently residing in hell. When all those who worship him and his false gods meet him in hell it will be just like this: Isaiah 2:12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: Isaiah 14:11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee. Praise God all ye, His people. The Great Day of the Lord draws nigh. AMEN!"
According to CNN.com, the members of the Topeka, Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church filed a legal brief with the high court last year indicating that they "believe it is their duty to protest and picket at certain events, including funerals, to promote their religious message: 'That God's promise of love and heaven for those who obey him in this life is counterbalanced by God's wrath and hell for those who do not obey him.'"
The congregation is made up mostly of pastor Fred Phelps and his family. The pastor has 13 children, and at least 54 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He described himself as an "old-time" gospel preacher in a CNN interview in 2006, saying, "You can't preach the Bible without preaching the hatred of God."
I love it when Auburn comes throuh with the big DONG! Sweetness!
Wow.
Any news on Stallworth?
I read that this morning and it angered me. That same church protested the funeral of a soldier near my hometown a couple of years ago.
Those are sick people. That bothers me both as a church goer and a music fan. They can dislike whatever they want in their own homes, but protesting a funeral?.....come on man.
Sick people are sick people regardless of the labels attached to them.
Good morning all. RK that "Church" has some issues. I see a mass suicide one day from them.
Scottie, keep those "ding dongs" away from my avatar.
Off work today, but busier than ever. I have two yards of grass to cut. I have to clean the carpets and do some more odds and ends around the house. My new AC is awesome. It better be for what I had to pay.
I fully expect a group of hardcore fans to show up and block this protest, much like that bikergang does when this group protests at soldiers' funerals now..That guy is a P.O.S. for preaching that crap.
Congratulations to ehyou and wife.
May the ring of happiness surround you for many more.
I made it through 55 last May 1 before my wife passed away last July.
It is a hard road to travel but well worth the trip.
G'morning Hot Ones!
WAR EAGLE!!!!
War Eagle and have fun today.
but we're getting close to BEASLEY!!!
this lecture is a snoozer.
well, at this pace, we'll never get to BEASLEY!!!
"never" being a bit of hyperbole
by my calculations, at the current pace, and accounting for inflation and fluctuations in the price of gold, we should get there in April 2031.
wow, I was only off by 3 months...
BEASLEY!!!
