Auburn's regional is set
Hey everyone. I am on the road.
We now know that Auburn will play host to Clemson (No. 2 seed), Southern Miss (No. 3 seed) and Jacksonville State (No. 4 seed) in the NCAA Tournament, which begins later this week.
My best guess is that Auburn will be paired with Georgia Tech. If that's true and things hold to form and both AU and GT win their regionals, the two teams would meet in Atlanta a week from Friday with a trip to Omaha on the line.
As for this Friday, Auburn will play JSU at 6 p.m. The Clemson-USM game will be played at 2 p.m. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Brett Favre makes the trip. He's really into USM baseball.
UPDATE: I was right. Auburn and Georgia Tech are paired, though red-hot Alabama is the No. 2 in Tech's region. Yow.
Here's the complete Division I bracket

oops, baseball brackets
JGT does it remotely, I'm at home and commit the error
Could see a rematch with our toothless cousins in the super regional.
I was just trying to print the brackets myself.
Should have known the fearless leader would already have the info....remotely even!
Friday
Auburn vs Jax State 6 pm
and Clemson vs So. Miss 2 pm
Didn't we play Jax St already?
less than 2 weeks ago. We won 9-7
Yes, beat Jax State in one of thelast few weeks...
Can someone confirm the pairing Jay G is speaking of? Bama is in the Nerds' regional.
If you all go to the Clemson-JSU game, keep an eye out for Brett Favre.
Peter, you have two options.
You can either read the blog post where I say Auburn is paired with Georgia Tech.
OR ... you can look at the bracket yourself and see that Auburn is paired with Georgia Tech.
Have a nice day.

LOL, Blogger Tate with on the road humor.
Okey Dokey. I feel better about that. But Clemson will make me nervous.
Out to a cookout and hopefully the rain will hold off!
Have a great War Eagle Day everyone!
Oh. Sorry. I thought it said that you thought it was probable. Did I read it wrong, or was that changed? Can't seem to get the brackets on my phone and left the house before the selection show was over.
PF - the bracket web site is not even remotely mobile friendly. I'm not even sure the printable version is.
I see now. I wasn't crazy to ask that question. Have fun in Sandestin you remote updating jerk.
Xoxoxoxoxo.
J/k. I've got mad love for Jay G. Tried to direct all of my soccer friends to his WC blog already.
If LSU comes out of the group of death unscathed, I'm calling a bookie and betting on them to repeat.
I'm a little nervous about potentially seeing the cousin humpers again. FWIW, that game would be in Auburn, assuming we both reach that point.
Clemson is potentially scary, they looked good in the ACC tourney.
Don't be nervous man. Auburn is the better team. While anything can happen in one game, we'll beat them more times than not.
Bravos up 6-0 after three.
So, we're required to root for Bama in their regional versus the bees? I mean, if we want the Super Regional at home, right? Is it worth it?
Ben...
No, never.
Looks like QB Kiehl Frazier will go with Auburn. He is supposed to be good.
**Insert standard Brett Favre indecision joke about deciding whether or not to go to the game**
Oh, that was yesterday's news. Sorry.
Is Hot Tub Time Machine worth wasting $1 and 2.5 hrs?
Ben... we NEVER, EVAH EVAH EVAH.... root for the criminal tahd...
I (being an alum of the school) will be rooting for Mercer out of the ATL regional.
War Eagle!! & Go Bears!
was that a Michael sighting, or just a mirage?
Cousin Humpers can go 2 and out for all I care. If we advance and have to play them, so be it. I shall not encourage it.
In support of my colleague Miller, I will be supporting the Bears in the Insect Regional.
I wonder if Cliff Ellis will sing some shag tunes between innings at the Myrtle Beach regional.
Braves in FIRST in the NL East
Like I said last week, you can't put much stock in MLB standings until Memorial Day. And whaddya know? It's M-D and Bravos are in 1st place!!
Hola Hotties from the great (?) state of Pennsylvania. I had another airplane brush with fame today. I shared my jet with Hines Ward and sat right near him though we didn't talk on the plane. However, while on the train from the terminal to baggage claim I stood next to him and told him how happy I was the day his eligibility was up and he finally left the SEC. He seemed to get a kick out of that. I imagine most folks around here approach him with some stupid Big Ben comments or something.
Ward caught a long TD pass early in the 4th qtr in their big comeback and overtime win in '96. That's enough to hold a grudge right there.
He and I basically went through college together. Dude was good.
'96 was a kick to the gut or someplace a bit south of there. If memory serves me correctly, that was the very first OT game played after the rule went into effect.
He was good, that's why I was so glad he was gone.
Hola from Sandestin.
Too many people here. Sheesh. We usually come down here in March and there 1/2 this many people, maybe 1/4.
Anyway, I'll be hittin' the SEC Meetings beginning tomorrow morning.
Thou I walk through the valley of death, I fear no cousin humpers. Bring them on.
Had a blast at the Braves Phillies game today (Monday) and I'm not a big Braves fan. Great environment though. It had been a long time since I saw one from Turner Field.
PUCK
Hotties, we got puck about to drop on NBC.
orange beach was perfect today jgt. not crowded at all and i got just as sunburned. sandestin is where all the yankees go to pay twice as much for everything.
sandestin is tolerable when on the company dime.
So far from what I've seen, Washington, PA could be compared to...well, just insert your own town you like to look down on. Lots of people with very poor eating, dental and wardrobe habits. Of course, I've only been outside the hotel to go to a restaurant within walking distance. Matters aren't helped by the fact that my hotel is across the street from a Super WalMart.
Norm, Mrs. Jet has relatives in Washington, PA. Compared to the hometown of her father across the border in West Virginia, let me assure you that Washington, PA is a quaint village.
Jay G ... I will be in SanDestin in 2 weeks. Expecting a mess.
After reviewing some of the brackets, it looks like AU has a tougher one than others hosting from the SEC. UF and ARK may have a much easier time of it in the opening rounds. IMO.
Anybody going to the game(s) Friday?
I'm thinking about it, but apparently I have to wait until Friday morning to order single game tix. That sux.
I may be up for a game on Friday night. So far I have noting planned for Friday night. I will be working in AU most of the day Thursday. Going to have lunch with daughter also, but being just 45 minutes away, the trip is very easy. Shoot me a message if you think you are going.
Mr. Cincy and I are going to Auburn to celebrate our 30th anniversary. Figured it would be a good time to get some use out of our condo. If single game tickets are still available Friday morning I think we are going.
Congrats on the anniversary Cincy!
Wtc,
UF should have an easier draw. Arkansas, maybe, maybe not. If I'm not mistaken, Arkansas had a better overall record, which may have helped their rpi.
PF-I figured that was the case. So how I never liked that idea of giving the teams with the best record the easiest route to the championship. I understand it is done that way, but it seems you get a true champion by having them play an overall better bracket than an easier bracket and may not being pressed to get to the big game.
I will say i did not like the SEC tourney bracket either. Look at AU or OM chances of getting to the championship game. You would need a boat load of pitchers to get there. I think if AU had beaten OM, no way do they have the arms to beat LSU twice on Saturday. And if they did, do they have enough arms to throw on Sunday? And I know the best way to avoid that is to win all the way through, but it just seems like it is stacked against those that lose early.
That being said, I will be pulling for AU all the way through.
Thinking of players AU 'had in the fold' but never got to campus.
Enrique Davis-many were thinking he was THE back AU needed. 2yrs at OM and 354 yards later, he is battling to get playing time.
Rodney Scott- Tub's recruit that left AU before he signed. Hasn't been the man at OM, but will battle for playing time this year.
Caleb King-Many had him coming to AU. He went to UGA and hasn't produced like the # rated back he was.
You never know how things turn out.
HOCKEY
two exciting hockey games later, the Blackhawks are up 2-0; series now moves east to Philadelphia.
Greatings from Orange Beach.
Chip, the weather was perfect today. where are you staying?
talk to you all later
I'll be at Friday's games and probably Saturday's and Sunday's too. Students are getting a sweet deal on this.
In my time zone, David Rocker is preaching that it's getting closer to kickoff... 95 days and some hours.
GO TIGERS!!!
WARRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
Wtc,
The SEC tourney is tough, no matter how you stack it. There was so little difference between 1 and 8 in a single game. I agree, it's next to impossible to come out of the losers bracket and beat an undefeated team. The only way to do it fairly and really get a grasp on the best team is to do an MLB style playoff. That's not going to happen with 8 teams, much less 64. It'd take all year.
In re SEC tournament, lose the first day and you're done.
That's generally the way it is in any double-elimination baseball tournament -- particularly those with eight teams.
Home state hotties ... go vote today.
Hi gang, hope the long weekend went well for all. Gotta question for the folks at the beach or just back from the beach: Any oil blob sitings?
As far as the regionals go, I'm glad to see there are no games starting before noon. All our boys just seem to have a tough time starting up before noon.
MYTD...
I can report no ill effects on the FL panhandle. It was as clear as I've ever seen it - crystal water and no seaweed.
Thanks for that ehyou. We were hoping to make the trip down to the coast, but was a little concerned with the "leak".
The beaches here in Sandestin are like they were in 2007.
Bath water-y and overcrowded right now, but swell nonetheless.
Headed over to the SEC Meetings in a bit. I received an email about COACH SABAN'S appearance. That should be a fun time.
Do you have an assortment of rotten fruits and vegetables to throw at him?
I'll be interested to see if the SEC will drop divisional play in basketball.
The fact that Ole Miss and MSU, a combined 0-8 against the East last year, "earned" first-round byes was a joke. That needs to be rectified.
Women's basketball doesn't have divisions. It's the right thing to do.
Voted at 7:00 am, I was the fourth in line. Hope they have a good turn out for this primary.
Lots of noise at the homestead getting a new roof put on. Very expensive.
JGT with the number of games you can play I don't think there sould be brackets or divisions in Basketball or baseball.
I was No. 221 at Saint James UMC in East Vaughngumpery at 8:10 a.m. Looked mighty thin to me.
Hey, Hotties!
I hope you all had a good weekend. It was busy--but a good busy-- for me, and I am having trouble getting motivated today.
My son just relocated to Vestavia Hills and is starting work on an MBA at Samford. He is looking for a part-time job. If anybody knows of anything up that way, please share it with me.
Still hoping and praying someone can figure out a solution to this oil spill business.
Good morning, Ephemeral et al.
I'm ready for some football. Can we please skip June & July? Perhaps one of the world leaders of HABOTN can make June & July go by in 24 hours.
Just checked out the WC blog, JG. Looks good!
Enjoyed talking to you on Friday.
I'm quite certain no one pulled harder for Hawaii's softball team this past weekend than I did. Wasn't that just marvelous!? Two yrs in row that UA-T has been banned from World Series by a two out homer in the bottom of the final inning.
Good morning, THT and Scott Choc.
Thanks, THT. I was afraid I had killed the thread for good.
Ephemeral - if at first you don't succeed...
Good morning, Eph. I'm having the same motivation problem, but I do have the 2nd half of my root canal retreatment to look forward to this afternoon, so I've got that going for me. :( Ugh, I don't know why I let them schedule that right after the holiday weekend.
Good luck to your son. I don't know of anything on the part-time job front right now, but I'll be on the look-out.
THT, I was trying to make sure it was dead by bringing up a dental procedure.
Not getting enough work from the Miami office. I can either a)drum up work here b)find another firm to work for, or c)wait tables...The path of least resistence has me advising patrons of wine pairings and pushing good bourbon as an after dinner drink
well, Chocolate, 4+ years later and it still ain't dead... and Michael still hasn't gone back far enough :D
