Auburn Arena: Photo Gallery

Hey everyone. So I spent about an hour touring Auburn's new basketball hub/arena and, honestly, they seemed to get a lot out of $85+ million.

Now you can make the call.

PHOTOGRAPHIC REPRESENTATION OF
AUBURN ARENA

From the floor with Beard-Eaves at my back.

The baseline.

Here's the view from the high-roller scholarship area.

This is facing Beard-Eaves from the highest (third) deck.

I'm trying to convey how steep these third-level seats are. It feels like it's straight down to the floor.

This is the bar in the high-roller Scholarship Donor area.

This is Suite 12 in the high-roller Scholarship Donor area. Each suite has its own patio that faces Jordan-Hare.

This is the men's locker room.

Fixtures from the women's locker room.

Players put their (used) practice gear in here after practice ... and can pick up clean gear before practice.

Those little lockers, I guess you'd call them, open to the laundry area.

That's a serious dryer. Luke Brietzke of the Anniston Star, pictured, is 6-foot-2.

Visitor's locker room. Hilarious.

This the hallway where players, both men and women, funnel into the arena.

This is where the weightlifting will occur. It's adjacent to the practice courts. That window faces Jordan-Hare.

This is the door from weightlifting to the practice courts. I was struck by how tall the doors were. Luke Brietzke again illustrating.

This is the main entry into the arena. It's opposite Beard-Eaves. If you're not a donor (or media), you're coming in this door.

No idea.

Even from the third deck...the view is pretty sweet. Doesn't even feel like high altitude.

Looks sweet, now let's see if the product they put on the floor is just as awe inspiring.

I read somewhere where there is speculation that Jay G. Tate might be named the new coach at Vandy.

The rumor is that when he was in "Louisville" a few weeks back, there was a stop off in Nashville.

This is all speculation, but it is in print on the internet and I did read it.

I hope we aren't watching a game and can see the lovely painted interlocking AU in the empty seats.

I have no comment on my conversations, or lack of conversations, with ESPN on behalf of Vanderbilt University.

Official capacity hasn't yet been determined allegedly.

I'm expecting it to be around 9,000. No more than 9,500.

No official seating capacity, no official schedule release... What in the wide wide world of sports is agoin' on here?!?!?

I blame bama for the lack of info

well, you can't have short doors if you're trying to recruit 7 ft players. gotta make 'em big!

so, the visiting locker room looks like a high school & the home looks like an NBA one?

At least we know where our area of refuge is. Hope we don't need it much.

Re: Leach to Vanderbilt.

It would make them the Vanderbilt Pirates instead of the Vanderbilt Commodores, nautically speaking.

Very cool pics, Jay. Thanks. I do think I like the style of this arena.

You don't have to live like a refugee.

Scottie B: It's hilarious how crappy the visitors' locker room is. I mean, they won't be here long. Don't need to spend on them.

i dig it JGT. they should pipe in the soundtrack to High School Musical 1 & 2 to the visitor's locker room pre-game too.

Area of Refuge: An area where persons unable to use stairways can remain temporarily to await instructions or assistance during emergency evacuation. Usually requires 4 hours of fire separation from the rest of the building.

Essentially a place for people in wheelchairs to go to await rescue in case of fire or emergency. Most newer arenas have them.

Now back to the smack talk.

Augh. I hate seeing things like this, but it's apparently my lot in life.

You know how in poetry, sometimes you take a letter or two out of a word so it fits the meter better? "O'er the ramparts we watched," "'Twas the night before Christmas," etc.? You put the apostrophe in where the letter got removed.

Now look at the fight song mural. "On to vic'try." NO NO NO! It should be "On to vict'ry," dangit! Or just spell out the whole word, it's not that big a difference.

I don't know. Maybe I shouldn't look at these things too closely.
