Your new roster
Hey everyone. Auburn has released its 2010 roster with new names, new numbers, new sizes in some cases.

1 -- Trovon Reed, WR
3 -- Chris Davis, DB
4 -- Shaun Kitchens, WR
5 -- Michael Dyer, RB
5 -- Jake Holland, LB
6 -- Jonathon Mincy, DB
6 -- Antonio Goodwin, WR
10 -- LaDarius Owens, LB/DE

13 -- Craig Sanders, DL
24 -- Ryan Smith, DB
28 -- Ryan White, DB
30 -- Steven Clark, P
31 -- Trent Fisher, son of Tennessee Titans head coach, DB
33 -- Jessel Curry, LB
36 -- Cody Parkey, K
37 -- Ladarious Phillips, FB
38 -- Jawara White, LB
48 -- Dakota Mosley, TE/OL
52 -- Justin Delaine, DE
54 -- Jeffrey Whitaker, DT
55 -- Corey Lemonier, DE (I compared him to McGinest and he wore 55!)
60 -- Eric Mack, OL
62 -- Chad Slade, OL
65 -- Tunde Fariyike, OL
68 -- Ed Christian, OL
91 -- Joel Bonomolo, DE
92 -- Kenneth Carter, DT
OTHER ITEMS OF NOTE
**Onterio McCalebb is listed at 171. That's bigger for sure.
**John Sullen is listed at 312, which is way down from where he was a year ago. Wow.
**I knew Jawara White was a thick kid, but 6-foot-1 and 243 is really thick. Josh Bynes is an inch taller, weighs eight pounds less and has been through Kevin Yoxall's offseason program several times.
**Daren Bates, who opened 2009 between 190 and 195, now is 203. He'll need it at linebacker.
**Ladarious Phillips. That's a man right there.
**Dee Ford is up 26 pounds since last season.
**Eric Mack is 361 pounds. There's your new John Sullen ... but can he commit to reshape his body with Sullen's rigor? Who knows.

One HABOTN.
and none too soon.
Call me old school, but I still don't like the Offense/Defense same number thing
saw where e. mack is up in the 340s?
not the first impression you want to make on yox.
unless he grew a few inches upward too over the summer.
JGT: I know he is listed as such but do you know if Kitchens is really projected as a WR or is that still TBD?
6-3 and 217 is a pretty big WR.
Thanks
so many duplicate numbers infuriated me.
i have a small problem with travis wearing #74 but the man to ask permission from is right there so i'll let it go.
Nice content.
Thanks Mr. Tate.
203 is still far too small for a LB. I know he'll be a fast one, but he better be able to take some abuse.
Wow Roster Substance!!!!
michael
6'40 800 lbs
Position: Awesomeness
rk, I agree with your size comment. But this is nothing new at AU. The Williamses and Dede were small too.
I know, Ant Williams was smaller than most DB's.
When we had the small fast DE's and the small fast LB's we played well on D until we played against bruising running teams, then we would struggle.
If you make the tackles and can be durable at 205, then you are one tough kid.
i'll be able to finish my NCAA rosters tonite. :)
NUMERICAL SUBSTANCE!!!!!!!!
Scottie,
Glad to see I wasn't the only one who programmed all that stuff in.
Seems like Sullen may be serious about getting some quality Playing time.
Disappointed in Mack coming in so heavy, but almost everybody else made good changes.
Sullen continues to surprise me. I had him pegged for bench warmer after watching him at Auburn High School. Maybe I was wrong.
I CANNOT WAIT to see what a 290 lb fullback looks like. Holy Tommy Agee.
mack needs to get on the demarco mcneil diet.
i remember a quote from dm saying he switched from two whole fried chickens w/ all the sides to two whole baked chickens w/ salad and water and it made a big difference in helping get his weight under control.
in mack's defense, he does have a kid which i'm sure hampered his workout schedule while he was at home. that says to me he didn't really plan on playing much this year anyway. its business now with yox.
Having played against Tommie Agee in high school, well, I'd rather not remember it.
By the way, Phred, way to big time me at lunch today at the Farmer's Market.
@$$hat.
dyer from goldberg's blog
remember to avoid the comments sections for sanitary purposes.
when I read John Sullen's comments last year when he signed, I had confidence in him being a solid contributor on the o-line for 3 years. We'll see if that pans out. On the flip side, I've never had good vibes about getting much contribution from Mack.
I hope Sullen meets my expectations and Mack contradicts my expectations.
...but what if Dyer can't block?
then cam will run away from the pass rusher.
remember how jemarcus russell and josh freeman and jarrett brown could all still wing it downfield or out of bounds with a lb or de hanging onto their waist? i'm hoping cam has that ability as well but without the penchant for fumbling.
the most important stat in football is turnover margin. AU needs to drastically improve that to contend for realzies.
Well ..if Dyer can't block when he isn't carrying the ball, then the offside defenders will make plays/sacks and stop drives...which will cause some fans to BLAME THE COACHES.
If we only put Dyer on the field when we are going to give him the ball then ....every SEC DC will figger that out and stuff his runs ..thus causing some fans to BLAME THE COACHES.
If the coaches don't play Dyer because he can't block, then some fans will BLAME THE COACHES.
So I guess the coaches better hope Dyer can block well as a true freshman. OR ...the coaches could just ignore those ill-informed fans.
We'll see what happens.
just heard on the radio mobile high school kid shoots 57 @ mobile country club in state tourney. course record was 63. 12 birds + eagle.
unfortunately, he will be humping his cousin in college next year.
It's part of the coaches' job description to take blame.
Hoopie,
It was just a joke. We all know what happens if he can't block. It was a play off of the endless argument of why Kenny Irons didn't play early in the 2005 season.
let's just hope when dyer whiffs on a block, the play is designed for him to slip out in the flat and be all alone for the quick pass.
i hope the fact that he has been @ AU all summer will pay dividends in the blocking.
i really wouldn't expect to see him in any extended meaningful role until midseason or after. kinda like caddy.
Leaving in a few minutes for Nats Park. It looks like it will be a beautiful evening for baseball.
No offense NoVa, but I hope the Nats drop the next two.
irons was a little different to me. he had a few years at usce under his belt and maybe had more experience blocking than coaches wanted to admit. their loyalties were with tre smith to be the starter at the beginning of 2005. they also tended to worry a lot more about wrs run blocking than catching passes sometimes. that fine line between making a complete player and overemphasizing aspects of the game outside of the position you play is where great coaches earn that $$$.
And I hope the Braves extend their curent streak for 2 more games.
I used to be a Braves fan but Chipper is the only one left of the team I knew. This is only the third Nats game I've gone to. All of them have been against the Braves.
yo, chip, the most important stat in football is the score
There has been a lot of cautious optimism on here about Dyer. I for one am not cautious. I think he will be a star and it will start next week. I'm betting he gets 500+ yards this year. That is without being the starter and sharing the carriers with several others.
I think the Caddy 1st year comparison may be somewhat valid. I think we'll see Dyer slowly expand his role throughout the season.
I don't believe, however, that Dyer will be our entire offense by the UGa game, which is what happened with Caddy in '01. And I expect us to have some offensive success against the Tide even if Dyer gets hurt on his first series in the Iron Bowl.
Tubs + Mazzone = FAIL.
BTW, for those involved in the fascinating discussion in the previous thread, my avatar is a recent photo of the place where the Eject-O resided (and perhaps resides still).
Braves kead 3-1.
Hudson reminds me of Greg Mattox with the way he pitches with his head as much as he does with his arm.
Enjoying the Man U match and the early goal.
Mack took the Mack Truck nickname a little too seriously. He will have quite the work cut out for him to get in Sullen shape. Discipline will be the toughest thing.
All this talk about Mack's weight. Does he way any more than he did when we signed him?
I kinda of saw the Eject-O talk but what was that all about.
And why was some guy talking about dipping a Tea bag in the toilet?
Not a fan of the pseudo collar on the Manure jersey.
I just heard the funniest thing ever (well in a long time) in sports. I'm watching the STL vs NYM game and they went to a split screen to look in on A-Rods bid for 600. After he doubled the ESPN studio guy said "Lets get you back out to shitty field". He was talking about the NYM field Citi Field. You think that was a Freudian slip? I'm sure you will hear about this somewhere tomorrow.
Goals 3 and 4 by Manure were excellent.
Mack coming in so heavy is disappointing, but big props to Sullen for the weight loss.
Issues with weight are hard to overcome. I have lost about 30 lbs since the start of the year. Getting off the junk food and developing portion control was a kind of like breaking an addiction to something. On top of that you have to try and burn calories so developing an exercise plan to stick with is even tougher.
I applaud anyone on the blog, or on any team who can whip the weight loss thing. I hurt for those who can't.
Hudson was on tonight and the Braves were working the Nats pitchers deep into the count. Hernandez had almost 90 pitches before he left in the 5th. It wasn't that the Nats pitching was bad, holding the other team to 3 will win a lot of the time. They had very little offense.
Hudson was on tonight.
Johnny Venters is my rookie of the year right now. I know Heyward, Strasburg and Gabby Sanchez are the rookies that get all the attention and middle relievers get no love, but Venters has been amazing.
The Braves are still struggling getting runners in and they have too many hitters in a slump at once, so Hudson had to be on to stop the bleeding.
CHB ...Scout listed Mack at 6'-3" 328#. Dunno if that was accurate or not.
So ....6'-3" 360# is about the size of Mount Cody ....If we weren't so short on LBs, I might jokingly wonder if we were changing to a 3-4 D.
Seanzie...cease and desist with the "Manure" talk. Or I'll simply start calling you a Gooner.
ee, its not about winning and losing, but how you play the game. wink!
ok, turnover margin is the 2nd most important stat in football. in any case, AU's needs to be better in 2010 for the type of season everyone hopes for. getting more opportunities for free points and short filed for the offense helps tremendously.
based on sullen's accomplishment, i believe jgt should single out one offensive line signee each year to take a pot shot at in the hopes they will turn it around like big john. "big snacks" is losing ground. "bigger snacks" just showed up.
I'm a bit disappointed with Owen's number. Ten just isn't that powerful. Will he really be able to level a RB while wearing the number 10? I say move him into the 40s.
Berry didn't like the Big Snacks nick. Maybe it should be transferred to Mack.
The weight thing is something that has to be corrected if the coaches feel he can't play at that weight, which I doubt he can. I am sure the coaches will lay down the law.
Disturbing coincidence. Eric = 4 letter word, Mack = 4 letter word, Leon = 4 letter word, Hart = 4 letter word. And both are from South Carolina!!! Ahhh!!!
As for Tre Smith, I love him and will forever be grateful for what he did for Auburn. The kid had a lot of heart, although he made some big oopses in his last year. But there was another thing. There was several games his final season where I think he lead the team in look out blocks, which I always found ironic considering the criticism of Irons.
As for Dyer, barring injury, I would bet every cent RK has that he plays. I have long been in favor of redshirting as many players as possible, but in the modern day reality, athletes of that quality may jump to the NFL early. You play them while you got them. Trovon Reed is another player like that.
WE had a tornado touch down tongiht in a... wait for it... trailer park.
Luckily it was of the senior citizen variety, so they were all up north at their summer homes, so no injuries.
But I still don't get who is installing these mobile home tracking devices in tornados.
Morning folks.
You talkin' to me?
I like the new forum, but it's kind of like deciding which donut to choose. Which thread do I get on to say good morning to the Hotties? Or to report on my boot camp? Or to see where THT posts how many days until football starts? Too many choices for this early in the morning. But, I'm sure it will all come together soon. I am just not real good with change :)
Where is the new forum? Did I miss the link?
Kathy...
No, there are just a few people testing it out right now. Word is it'll hit the streets Monday.
Thanks ehyou! Guess I'm not one of the "special" ones. Can't wait to check it out on Monday.
Kathy,
You are special!! Are you on Facebook? I think something came across about the new site on it.
ehyou - no, I wasn't talking to you. Earlier I wasn't. Now I am. Boy I have a lot to say. Get ready. Stay ready because I just don't have the time right now.
CINCY NO! You're not supposed to be divulging such secrets.
Thanks Cincy. I'll just wait for the big reveal!
JGTs tidbits on the front page reminds us that we are getting closer and closer to kickoff!
I still need THT to tell me how many days until Auburn football??!!
There is a smell of pig skin in the air.
37
THT...
Are you feeling well today? That countdown reminder lacked it's normal fervor.
I'm a walking zombie today. Listened to hours and hours of iTunes this morning but just couldn't get going. But here it is, in Official HABOTN Countdown Format®:
37 days til kickoff!!!
GO TIGERS!!!
WARRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
Now THAT is more like it.
Ebro, what's wrong with being called a "Gooner"?
Only 37 days? It seems like it's been an indefinite, eternal wait and all of a sudden we're just outside a month? I'll take it.
Thank you THT, I look forward to that starting my day! Hope your day starts looking up and you are not a zombie all day.
If he's a zombie after 12 noon, someone will have to hit him in the head, hard enough to destroy the brain. Can't be having an outbreak.
Zombieland was entertaining.
Zombieland is good, Shaun of the Dead is probably a bit better.
Haven't seen Shaun of the Dead, I may just check it out.
1-0 germany v s. korea in women's under 20 world cup. like you didn't care...
It was pretty good until Bill Murray hit the scene, then it became very good.
don't you need to defile the corpse to keep it from coming back to life? or is that just mummies?
Shaun of the Dead is in the same vein as Zombieland, in that it's more comedy than horror. But it really is an excellent movie all around. Simon Pegg does a fantastic job.
Chicks disrobe when they score a goal, right?
i think that could be hit or miss in this case if they do. you may get a sweet german honey or something in the likeness of my avatar.
i was just going to watch the herd on espnu while i work on my resume.
Man, a chick disrobing that is in likeness of your avatar. I think you may have just ruined women for me.
Comparing Dyer and Caddy or Irons is apples to Oranges. Caddy was 5'10 185 lbs. Irons was very similar build.
Dyer is 5'8 215. I fully expect he'll be a great blocker and no one in the stands except maybe the NFL scouts will notice or care.
For those of you playing NCAA 2011 ... I've got a roster file with all the names ... I've modified the Auburn roster to what I thought was a more realistic list of the top 70 players.
Among other things that meant making Fannin higher rated than McCalebb, dropping Barrett Trotter to add Q. Carr.
email me if interested and i'll upload it to share ... mwdeav@mac.com
If Fanin's injury coefficient is accurate, he won't be in long anyway.
What is it about going to al.com and reading a good article by Goldberg and then having that experience negatively impacted by being drawn to the comment section?? It's like a car wreck - I don't want to look at them, but you just have to. I guess on the positive side, it helps keep the embers of hate going through the summer months.
THT will be Zombie like until the Czar of Buy More catches him eating twikies and BONGS him on the head. This wake up call will ring for several minutes before his eyes focus again.
just don't take his barrel of cheesey-poofs. it just makes him angry!
Baldy...
It's classic Pavlov conditioning. Scroll down too far and you are punished by mind-numbing idiocy. Eventually you won't be tempted to do it anymore.
I get to go to Burlington to pick up a late 1800s pocket map, eat hot dogs at Zack's, and bring home Hursey's barbecue & cole slaw! I'M AWAKE!!!
And full of HATE for ua-t!!!
GO TIGERS!!!
Ehyou, I installed a device on my computer that shocks me if I wander down to the comments section. I just regained consciousness, however, so I think I'm going to have to adjust it a bit. Just more motivation to get my AU fix here rather than straying.
The striking thing from the numbers list to me isn't the numbers, but rather the number of players. I find it incredible to see this many players actually making it to practice.
Having a high rated class is great, but getting the numbers up had to be a huge priority and the coaches came through better than I could have ever expected.
Baldy-My mobile version of AL.com does not allow the comments ection to be read. SWEEEEET.
Goldberg reporting the AU-Clem contest will be broadcast in 3-D.
Do any of you folks with the latest and greatest have a 3-D TV?

Somebody tried to pre-empt JGT's "New thread UPZ" and FAILED!
And now they live in infamy forever.
Is that in Florida? I'd hate to live there forever.
maybe we need to start dating our threads so everyone knows when they were posted.
Stardate: 66821.6
I meant posts, not threads.

I dig you, THT.

Did you know that different websites have different ways of calculating stardates? What's up with that?
We've been using the scale here:
http://trekguide.com/Stardates.htm
Today's date: 67109.3
But here:
http://www.hillschmidt.de/gbr/sternenzeit.htm
the date is -309357.6860096398
And here:
http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/stardate.php
the date is 91247.95
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY DIFFERENT ANSWERS!? I AM STARTING TO QUESTION THE VALIDITY OF THIS WHOLE SYSTEM!
yes, I noticed that several startdated posts ago. I just didn't want to break your heart.
And I either used an entirely different system or had a typo in my previous post. Other wise, we're GOING BACK IN TIME!!!
67123.5
I can't check your link here at work, but I applaud you for taking the time and energy to hyperlink manually. You are a master of a lost art indeed, THT.
Oh, and 67125.9
apparently, master of a wasted art. It was a link to theme song for It's About Time, one of many not-so-great TV shows you didn't have to watch in the 1960s. But then, you didn't get to watch first runs of Gilligan's Island, Hogan's Heroes, The Andy Griffith Show, Amos & Andy (ok, maybe those were reruns I watched), Get Smart, McHale's Navy, I Dream of Jeannie, and all the other great shows, like Laramie, The Virginian, Rawhide, Wagon Train, The Rat Patrol, Combat, High Chaparral, Here Come the Brides, Maya, Man From U.N.C.L.E.
I'm sorry we stuck you with Saved by the Bell.
Oh, and 67129
I just realized, with a stardate calendar, I can't easily remember when Irony Day is upon us. Screw that.

The coroner pronounced this thread dead at 1800 hours on June 8, 2008.
I don't have time to find the stardate for today, but let me just say I am very disappointed in you for abandoning the stardate method. Very disappointed.
same thing my dad told me.
