Do you guys even post?
I leave for a week and this is all the work you do?
Sad.
P.S. I only lost half a spleen.
I converse with myself at the campfires, but try to avoid it in public.
Here you go Bubbs,
https://www.theguardian.com/science/2017/jan/30/huge-mouth-and-no-anus-earliest-known-ancestor-saccorhytus-coronarious-evolution?CMP=share_btn_tw
Took me awhile to catch up on all the posts I missed this last week, but here I am.
re: Jimmy, well it's like they say, you have to eat before you poop
'bout time. I thought you were going to miss Recruitmas... not that you'd be missing much.
I was afraid that the latest Trump order may have blocked your re-entry from Florida into the US.
I was blocked, but then I told the immigration people that Trump brand ties are very very classy, really tremendous ties, let me tell you about those ties, they are made of the best materials, and they tie just great, and before you know it I had been let back into the country.
I think they should translate "potty mouth" into Latin and let that be the creature's name: ore puppis
Good point, THT. How did you get back into the states, MJT?
Hey MJT, don't leave us hanging. How did you get back?
Are you back?
Banhammered!
Man that sucks for you. Being stuck in FL is pretty much living in exile. Hope you can at least make it out of Disney.
The biggest map fair in the world is in Miami each year, THIS WEEKEND! I don't do Florida, so I never go.
bubbs, did you spend the other half of your spleen on a nice dinner?
Hopefully he spent it on a half a brain LOLOLOLOL
Well, if you're not going to the map fair I'm not either. Too bad. I was on the fence, but it was probably going to be a blast.
I don't talk about my spleen expenditures.
You don't do Florida, THT. Florida does you.
Florida will have to catch me first. Unfortunately, that may not be too difficult since I am as old and decrepit as many others that have been caught and locked up in all those high rise condos.
That's why THT likes snow. He can ski away from the police. Makes sense.
When we moving to Alaska, THT? The wife (self described "beach person" (I really should have vetted her better but I'm stuck now)) admitted last week that she would move to CO. Baby steps.
I'm a better vettor; I married a mountain-momma-wannabe. She wants a house in the NC mountains at least 4,000 foot elevation to get away from summer heat. That would be fine with me. Only problem is, she doesn't want to sell the house we're in. Rest assured that I'll never own two houses.
Hey THT, if I owed you money, I'd be a better vettor debtor.
If my dog owed THT money, I'd be a better vettor debtor petter.
If THT wrote me a note asking the dog to pay up and a I dropped it in water, it would be a wetter letter for a better vettor debtor petter.
Are you from Metter? Is your last name Guido?
Having received the wetter letter, you're a better vettor debtor petter fretter.
THT is bringin' the hammer!
I'm a beach and mountain guy. Why I need to move to Hawaii. You can do the beach and mountains there. You can even ski on the Big Island.
Alaska has beaches and mountains. And probably skiing.
This may be just the right one for E-Bro
We have friends that live here: http://www.cityofseward.us/
If I could figure out a way to join them I would. Wife is not yet totally convinced though.
I could never live in a town named after that jerk.
I have extremely low expectations for Recruitmas. We didn't even hang our stockings on the mantle this week.
I can't place who you're talking about.
We should end up with a top 10 class, but I wouldn't expect any surprise gets.
wowza.. if anyone wants a map of Alabama, check out lot 300 (sorry, no direct lot URL)
select Lot 201-300 from drop down menu, then scroll to bottom of page for Lot 300
Google Maps is cheaper.
Not sure how good (or feasible) the snorkeling would be in Kachemak Bay, THT.
who wouldn't want to snorkel with orcas? They are a lot smaller than those huge whales seen in Hawaii, so I'm guessing Kachemak Bay snorkeling would be safer.
Blocked at work, so I have no idea what it shows
Have you never heard of a wet suite, E-Bro? You can use them in cold water. Surprised you didn't know that.
Hmm...will have to look into that.
FAKE NEWS ALERT!!!
Auburn spurned by JUCO OL for Bowling Green
as compared to Legit News Alert from a few days ago...
St. Paul's DL spurns Auburn for Stanford. Great opportunity for the young man. I hope he likes treehuggers and earthquakes.
I'm almost certain this is factual reporting...
Auburn's coaches would not reveal what was going on, they've been in the dark.
Losing that kid to Stanford is going to leave a mark.
Didn't want him anyway.
the good news is I don't think our list of commitments has anyone ua-t would want to steal on signing day, so we shouldn't worry about that sort of catastrophe.
Excellent point. It would be to our advantage if they flipped some of our guys and weakened their roster.
Only problem is Li'l Nicky imposed that ban on 3* from entering Tuscaloosa County. I don't think the protesters are going to have any sway over him. Well, he's so short, everything will be over him, including sway, but it won't change his mind.
We've just signed the #2 long snapper in the country!
Didn't Tubs do that just before he was ousted?
I have noticed that we offer schollies to kickers and long snappers. bammer does not.
I'd say we're getting that 50% right.
Well, I can do better than that
i CAN BE 100% right with...

A SURPRISE SIGN!
A 3*....yay.
Okay, I have to temper my last comment. His nickname is "Boobie." So, yeah, that was a good get.
Check out all the perennial powerhouses we beat out for this fellow's signature
Yeah, but his name is Boobee (spelled it wrong, or rather copied a hack who spelled it wrong earlier). Any Boobee is a good Boobee in my book, THT. Don't care who else was trying to grab him.
rats, I was hoping he was blue-footed.
Well, I generally steer clear of asking young gents to remove their socks. I'll leave that vetting process to you.
no sign of michael? Is he out delivering wads of cash to our signees?
Did we sign any imposters?
Or energy vampires?
Sealed up another natty today.
Does anyone know if Boobie's feet are blue?
He's a BooBEE. Bees don't have blue feet. However, with six legs and wings, he's likely very hard to catch.
E-Bro, my collegiate eligibility has long since expired
I've still got some. My nick name is Boobie. Sign me, and I'll reveal my foot color.
ok, I'm willing to give it a chance, though I reserve the right to refrain from unwarranted enthusiasm:
212 days til kickoff.
Go Tigers. War Eagle.
What up peeps!!
Have not stopped by in a LONG time just wanted to see how the old place looked. It looks great by the way
BIGGGGGGGGGGGGGG DADDY!!!
Welcome back. The old place is just humming right along at warp .00001
We'll have to get JayG to toss up another post before next season.
We got this puppy chugging right along.
The most amazing thing about this place is the A+ quality of some of the posts, mostly mine. But some of THT's too.
My remarkable posts improvement a direct reflection on excellent service of training dissertation I received from Feng et al.
Speaking of Feng, we had hot dogs for lunch on Saturday and not once did I think about Feng. I'm so callous.
I haven't heard from Feng in a long time. Did he die? I can't remember now.
You're ignorant, and you've proven it.
But I do appreciate you acknowledging that my posts are above A+ status.
last I heard, Feng was running one of those fishing charter businesses in Quepos.
please keep Poutasi Poutasi in your prayers.
MERCY! LSU: Receivers coach Dameyune Craig has been let go
per footballscoop
Hey, Jimmy, your Colombia movie The Belko Experiment gets a mention in this Spring Movie Preview.
http://www.avclub.com/article/everything-still-awesome-relentlessly-optimistic-g-249403?utm_content=Main&utm_campaign=SF&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=SocialMarketing
You didn't tell me Big Head from Silicon Valley was in it (did you?)!
You gonna let them talk about McLean like that, Jimmy?
He should write to the AV club and tell them he read 5 websites today, and theirs by far was the worst
maybe we should get Frederick Douglass's opinion.
...unless, of course, he was killed in the Bowling Green massacre.
32BEASLEY!!!
Bowling Green Massacre ... boy, howdy. Never forget.
Maybe Jimmy can do a documentary on that.
Eurasia stand united with Bowling Green during these trying times.
Pinedale, Wyoming, stands in solidarity with the victims of the Bowling Green massacre, igniting their famous pillars of light memorial this week.
Yo, bubbs and michael, why are y'all so unhappy?
bubbs, you should show that list to your wife
She said she would settle for CO (#5), but not Alaska. Then she started talking Hawaii, so I'm not sure how much ground I made up.
I'm perfectly happy. In fact, Eurasia scored a 100 on that test.
the only reason CO people think they are happier than WY people is because the COans are stoned. I'm not willing to get stoned to be happy, so I'll stick with WY.
approval today for stadium project, moving press box to "SW corner" of JHS. Sideline corner or end zone corner? I wonder if they'll be shoved so far into the corner that they won't be able to see the video board. Maybe I could move my seats there so I wouldn't have to see that monster blinding light show.
I still haven't seen the video board, so I'm not really convinced it exists.
let me know if you want to see it on 9/16 or 11/18
This comment has been removed by the author.
On a dark night I can see it from my front porch in Leeds.
We should ditch the families and go see the video board on 11/18, MJT.
If you have kids, you should check out this thought provoking/hard hitting report:
https://twitter.com/Bry_Nap/status/827030557758349312
the weekend is here! YIPPEE!!!
I bet it sucks to be a Falcons fan this morning.
bubbs, I wouldn't know.
I missed the first 10 minutes of Casablanca last night because I was watching USA vs China in mixed doubles curling. Still, I think that's as close as I've ever come to seeing the entire movie. It really is a good movie.
elaborating on Falcons, I think I've been to two of their home games and pulled for the visitors (who won) both times.
1. Nov 19, 1967 vs the LA Rams, featuring NC native Roman Gabriel at QB (Rams 31-3). It was the day after a very disappointing game in Athens. My dad got on the interstate (what little of it there was back then) that Sunday morning, heading southbound. When he dismissed my concern that we were going the wrong direction, I figured out we were going to the Falcons game. He sort of did the same thing the year before after seeing the Colts & Packers, we made an unexpected (for me) stop at Cole Field House that night to see USC(?) @ MD basketball game. I caught one of the little red MD basketballs they threw in the stands. Still got it, I think.
2. circa 1997 vs Panthers, featuring nobody I remember and a score I don't remember, but Panthers won.
Ask me what happened within the past week and I doubt I could recall much of anything.
What did you have for lunch last Friday?
I punched bubbs in the face and ate his lunch last Friday.
You serious about the offer of tickets for a cupcake game, THT? I very likely will take you up on one of those offers... my son ain't been to a game yet, so I figured I should take him this year sometime.
bubbs, the act of ditching the family to watch football with someone else... that is a costly act. The cost/reward assessment shows it wouldn't be worth it for the 11/18 game. Now after we infect THT with the bird flu in early November as planned and he offers us his Iron Bowl tickets, then yes, we should ditch our families and go see Gus lose/keep his job on the jumbotron while in THT's seats.
Friday? That's easy. It was a work day: Banana, homemade chicky salad sammich with cashews, a wedge of Laughing Cow swiss "cheese" with some triscuits, a strawberry nutrigrain bar, and a York peppermint patty. There used to be two fudge sticks after the nutrigrain bar, but I gave them up a year or two ago. I think they started making them in China and there was no QC.
Saturday? I have no earthly idea.
I'm immune to any birds that ever flu. Just don't get any of your Eurasian ostriches near me.
Sark gone to Falcons per footballscoop
It may not be proper, but I do feel somewhat happy inside after reading that.
I'm good with it.
Y'all scared of Sark or something? Guy didn't win one game as Bama's OC. Not one!
not scared of Sark at all... just happy that Li'l Nicky has to busy himself with finding another OC. Hopefully, not a better one!
Exactly. Any kinda chaos over there is all good with me.
well... at least we're not looking for a coordinator. Can Dameyune coach RBs?
Can Tracy Rocker coach RBs?
I don't think DC would be good for the team. At least not while Gus is here (for better or worse).
Now TRock ... Wouldn't mind finding some room for him somehow.
Gentleman and others (y'all can fight over who's who), looks like a record number of customers in the Buy More today. I have a doctor's note excusing me from HABOTN for the time being. Y'all have fun today and don't get to 5,000 without me.
I took a few moments to contemplate the idea of going ahead and making it to 5k, just because you said not to.
But then I decided it sounded like too much work.
I'm most definitely in the "others" category. Come to think of it, I'm not sure who fits in the Gentleman category.
Feng?
ARE WE THERE YET?!
back to work :(
We are not there yet. These other guys need to pull more weight.
FootballScoop is reporting North Carolina defensive coordinator Gene Chizik may be leaving the coaching profession. Perhaps TV?
I wonder where home base will be.
Interesting news.
I wonder what TV gig he would get. I never saw him as all that dynamic of a guy. His pressers weren't exactly riveting.
But if he makes home base Alaska, I might see if he needs an assistant.
Looks like they'll be staying in Auburn. Church options are much better there than in Chapel Hill.
I didn't watch UNC/Duke last night because I had much better options (hockey), but someone sent me an interesting stat, probably from tv broadcast
Prior to last night, in the previous 96 games of the rivalry (~40 years)
Wins
48 UNC
48 Duke
Total points
7437 UNC
7437 Duke
That's a pretty close rivalry
How 'bout them AU Softballers!!! WAR EAGLE!!!
Look at THT. Happy with a .500 AU team. He's probably casting trophies right now.
I'll cast a few extra to sell on eBay.
My posts are like the typical newspaper, late games not included.
What's a newspaper?
It's a printed publication (usually issued daily or weekly) consisting of folded unstapled sheets and containing news, feature articles, advertisements, and correspondence, but that's not important right now.
Sounds that stuff would be perfect for wrapping fish.
don't be putting any fish under my Christmas tree
I've got great fish for you. Tremendous. You'll love it. Just tremendous!
Wow. Sounds like this bubbs guy has access to really great fish.
yep, look what he caught on his last trip to Alaska
Should I click on the link? I assume that is a picture of trichinosis from eating undercooked bear meat?
nothing like a sylvatic cyclist to slow things down. GET OUT OF THE WAY!
Cyclist are people too, man.
I'm pretty sure AU basketball is still awful. That was so painful to watch.
I saw the half time score and thought, "That's cool. Might pull this off."
Then I saw the final score and thought, "Seems about right."
Goodness. I'm gonna have a hard time keeping up over here today. So much content.
I've been busy working behind the scenes trying to get Bruce Pearl fired.
Any luck? We might not even have a dumpster left when he gets done with our program.
No luck so far. I think most people know he needs to go, but they have a hard time firing such an Auburn Man.
Creed Monsters.
Dude, I never listened to Creed. Not even back in the day when they were popular. Personally, I'm not even sure they crack the top 50 Canadian rock trio list.
went to Richmond today, got home and found out BP is still our basketball coach. Can't say I'm disappointed....yet. He needs to win big next year with a team that will have plenty of experience. There will be no valid excuses.
What if the entire team gets Ebola? Is that not a valid excuse?
I saw Creed at a music festival (in May 2000 I think) and enjoyed the show. I turned on them in a few months, but I admit I was a fan for time.
You're a monster regardless. So I'm not sure your Creed history even matters. But maybe so. We'll have wait until E-Bro gets back to let us know.
Ebola shmola, they can take a few aspirin and hit the court.
...talk about no valid excuses, I certainly don't have one for botching 38BEASLEY!!! at 3344
Well you actually botched 38XBEASLEY!!!!!!!
We are still 500+ away from 38BEASLEY!!! per the established rules of Beasley Concatenation. (which interestingly enough will be concurrent with the arrival of 3BEASLEY!!!8)
Scott Stapp spent some time up the road from the Noog at Lee University, so maybe for that reason I was a fan for a time as well. Or maybe I was just happy to see hear something like a rock band on the radio waves during the height of the TRL days.
Surprised you didn't know that, THT. You should probably get tested for Dyscalculia.
You ever listen to The White Buffalo, E-Bro?
If Bruce Pearl has dyscalculia, does he get a pass?
Ebro, I agree with you assessment on the need for rock. I was so dang thirsty for good new rock bands in the late 90s. There was MTV, which was terribe, and all we had in Memphis was the a station that played Creed, Days of the New, Incubus, a Perfect Circle, Sevendust, and older grunge stuff. I hated the limp bizkit/korn wave that came in. It's not wonder I got primarily into jam bands and old stuff around that time. Of course now I own some solid alternative music from that timeframe that I wasn't aware of in high school.
Random observation - I feel like better work is usually done over here than on fight club.
If Bruce has Dyscalculia and puts 6 guys on the court at the same time, will they give him a pass? Because if so, I think we should explore that option.
It takes more effort to post over here because of the anti-Feng reCAPTCHA stuff. This means only the best of the best posts get through.
It's the reCAPTCHA magic. Wonder if we can convince Norm to install it over there. Would probably prevent half the people from even being able to post anything at all.
Haven't listened to The White Buffalo, bubbs. Worth a walk down spotify lane?
MJT, I too did a similar dance with rock music in the 90s. Sad thing is I had a buddy who was pretty clued into a lot of the indie rock of the time like Pavement, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc., but he hardly ever said anything about the music he listened to except that we knew he was a massive Pink Floyd fan.
He used to have a Pavement sticker on his car and we'd ask, "Mack, what's/who's Pavement?" "Just this band I listen to." And nothing else was said about them and we didn't know to follow up.
E-Bro, that makes no sense!
Your friend is what caused a backlash culture called "hipsters." He should probably apologize to us.
Yeah. The White Buffalo is worth some spotify time. Given some other bands you like, I think he'd find a home amid your playlist somewhere.
Well, he had a lot of classic hipster hallmarks except don't hipsters try to cram their tastes down your throat and then abandon them when they become too popular or trendy?
He wasn't like that. He just really kept to himself about it.
Hipsters didn't exist in the 90s. Yes there were a few proto-hipsters, as seen in films like reality bites and high fidelity, but at the time they would have been referred to as "tools."
I feel like a babysitter. You children talking about your new fangled musical play toys that I've never heard about. Y'all need to come to grips with the fact that 97.5% of all good music was created between 1955 and 1975. Neutral Milk Hotel? Didn't they open for Bleached Biscuit Worms?
Sounds like Mack needed a diet or bariatric surgery. How massive was he?
Yes, I was fully cognizant of my dyscalculia... immediately after I pressed "publish your comment". I was hoping Feng would edit it for clarity.
One bit of good news in the sports world yesterday: Penguins 4, Canucks 0
I'm not sure you're a very good babysitter.
Reading is fundamental, guys. I said your friend caused a "backlash" culture. i.e. people responded to his demeanor. Hipsters were a response.
You may be on to something, bubbs. MrsTHT likes to tell the story (mostly fictional) of when she came home just after our infant child filled his diaper. According to her fictionalized version, as she walked in the door, I held infant out towards her and proclaimed "It needs you."
Errbody on Fight Club wants to visit Alaska, THT. I think we should come up with "vacation package." We can get them to pay to help us move.
maybe they can drop me off in Laramie on the way back.
My friend was more like Dick from High Fidelity (top 5 movie? than Barry, so I still don't think he's to blame.
Always looking to blame others, bubbs.
I'm looking at a trip to Iceland in early April. Is there a package AUFC is offering for that?
Buck has to stop somewhere. Just so happens that this time it's not with your friend.)
If you pay my way, I'll be your guide and translator, E-Bro. That's the regular package for Iceland. If your interested in something more inclusive, I can put something together.
High Fidelity: The Record Store Scenes is a great movie, Ebro.
High Fidelity: The Relationship Stuff is a terrible movie. At least that's how I felt when I watched in as a freshman in college.
You know, since they say the earth is a sphere, once you make it to Alaska you can pretty much walk over the north pole to iceland, ebro.
also Ebro, you never closed your parenthesis, so everything you are doing right now is merely parenthetical.
I'd love to spend a volcanic eruption-free month or two in Iceland. If I ever head back to AZ, I'm going to have to go here. Not sure how I managed to miss that in 2012. I guess I should have had bubbs for my guide.
I closed the parenthesis for E-Bro in my post, MJT. Surprised you didn't know that.
We always go there on the AZ tours, THT.
Thanks for looking out, bubbs.
Who are you talking to, Ebro?
Whoa, how did you know I was talking to somebody?
Freaky, dude.
Just so you guys know, it's usually a pretty safe bet that I'm not talking to someone at any given time.
I just placed a hefty bet that you are not talking to anyone right now. Do I win or lose?
Day after lonely, lonely day; win, lose or draw.
Jaromir Jagr celebrated his 45th birthday by assisting on a 3rd period goal for his 1900th career NHL point. He would have put a lot more space between himself and the 3rd place career point leader if he hadn't taken a break from the NHL to play 4 1/2 seasons in Europe.
Funny, that's the same way I was planning on celebrating my 35th birthday. Great minds!
"Right now" as when I was reading your comment or "right now" when you typed it?
I was planning on celebrating your 35th birthday with by taking THT to Alaska. But your idea sounds good. We'll just watch you do that.
9:05 am central time. Hurry up and let me know, I need to know if I need to arrange for a cab to pick me up after work if I lose my car to this guy.
I can't help you out today, michael, but I could give you a ride home from work tomorrow. I'll pick you up on my way home from work...I should be there about 1:30 a.m. CST Saturday.
That's unfortunate, MJT. I actually was on a work call at 905. So unless you made the provision in the bet that it had to be an in person conversation, you'll need to call that cab.
Will you guys be stopping at Waffle House on your ride? If so, can you swing by here and pick me up, too? That sounds like a good time.
I have been in a Waffle House in my lifetime, probably more than once. I'm guessing it's been 20 years, maybe even 30.
33BEASLEY!!!
Then it's been 30 years too many.
Do they have a WH in Alaska?
I believe the dominant chain in AK is Waffle Igloo.
Hmmm. I'll need to check their menu.
Waffle house is good but it's prices are ridiculously expensive for what you get, in my opinion.
Looks like I'm walking home today. I'll gladly accept that ride after work tomorrow, THT.
Got any more "sure bets" bubbs? I might try a double or nothing bet to get my car back.
double or nothing on AU to win next football national championship. You'll have more cars than you can park in your driveway.
I am 100% sure AU will win the next championship, but I don't feel like waiting that long to get a car. Will you give me rides home until then?
walking will be better for your health... unless you get run over or bitten by a copperhead or fall into a wormhole.
speaking of walking... time for me to head home and take my grandpuppies for a walk.
Here's a sure fire bet, MJT:
E-Bro wont talk to a girl tonight (that he's not related to).
just a few minutes into tonight's matchup vs the Team Formerly Known As Thrashers, Sidney Crosby makes a great play and a great pass for Chris Kunitz's one-timer into the net. Why is that important? The assist was Crosby's 1000th career point.
michael, it may take a bit longer for a payoff than the E-Bro bet, but I think it's a safe bet that Crosby won't catch Jagr.
Hey Ebro, did you talk to any girls last night?
I'm feel confident that you'll have two extra cars by end of business, MJT.
If you want a job done right ....
https://qz.com/913803/a-florida-man-planned-to-blow-up-targets-tgt-stores-as-a-way-to-short-the-retailers-stock/
Boom. page flip. Blah blah blah.
I was going to respond to your 4200 post, but I wanted to wait and see who was going to blow the page turn. You didn't disappoint.
What am I going to say on my 4200 post?
Also the linked article fits very well with that page turn.
4200, 3400 doesn't really matter. Those are made-up numbers anyway that I don't believe in. Way too high.
If you want a job done right ....
what a perfectly epic fail, bubbs
michael said...
It looks like I may have been wrong about the highest number that exists, THT. It is apparently 5000.
y'all's posting incompetence is not why I'm sad. The cause is the death of a great entertainer and an even better person.
