«Oldest ‹Older 1201 – 1400 of 3816 Newer› Newest»
It wasn't too long for me, and I did read it. And it was life changing.
Nice Boom THT. I was just sure someone was going to goof it up.
I may be a BEASLEY!!! gooferupper, but I don't botch a page flip.
I feel like Norm behind this keyboard.... Old Norm, anyways.
I agree. Norm sure is old.
42° and flurrying sideways. On one Street near the buy more, trash cans were being blown up and down the street.
63° in Hanalei right now. High of 76 today. Wish I was there.

Hey it looks like blogger is working normal again! Woohoo!
Are you following the live blog of the 45th anniversary of the Apollo 17 mission as well?
I am not. Are you wanting me to live-blog the live blog like the old days?
I'm glad we have thermometers all over the moon.
That would be great, MJT. Here's the live blog Twitter Account to live-blog.
https://twitter.com/astVintageSpace
Hey, guys. Sorry, but I've been busy reading THT's post on the last page.
Also, blogger is not fixed.
...not even close to being fixed. michael was just teasing us. A live blog of a live blog on a terminally ill blogger web site could be entertaining.
...not even close to being fixed. michael was just teasing us. A live blog of a live blog on a terminally ill blogger web site could be entertaining.
that's what happens when you accidentally refresh the "timed out" page 25 minutes later
Well awesome job re-breaking blogger, gang. I can't take you guys anywhere.
I can't take myself home, thank you. I'm outta here!
I think it's ridiculous that THT gets to leave before me. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!
I am sorry that happened to you, bubbs
ok, let me repeat myself (and undoubtedly both will then show up), though flipping the sentence phrases...
The real outrage is that I'll have to be at work before bubbs.
What time did you get to work?
None of your dang business.
Look at MJT. I bet you get someone to stamp your time card for you.
6:40 your time, technically 20 minutes early but about 30 minutes later than I had hoped. It was one of those mornings where I could not gain consciousness (about 60% of my mornings are like that in old age, a significant drop from the 99.999% in my first five decades). I wish I could just suddenly wake up alert like MrsTHT does.
I suspect your odd hours have a lot to do with that.
I suspect your odd hours have a lot to do with that.
I suspect my odd hours have a lot to do with that.
And perhaps lifelong sleep apnea.
Well, 3 out of 3 comments agree that it's the odd hours. Gotta go with the odd hours.
For your holiday shopping convenience, the Buy More will be open 24 hours tomorrow. Come on buy! If you need any help, have them page my over the intercom system. I'll be in the back unpacking inventory and getting it out on the shelves. We just received a large shipment of Dixie's popular cast paper pots.
e and y are nowhere near each other on the keyboard. I think the wiring in my brain has frayed.
Well, I follow instruction. I'm gonna page your when I get there.
sdfaasdgasdgasgagaesggwea
somebody's wiring is crossed and frayed, and crossed some more
Are you talking about my?
Yys, I am.
Bloggyr has jackyd this placy up somything good now. Nothing works.
bloggyr must havy got ahold of my kids, too.
Dash Pick: UCF 28, Auburn 26. If running back Kerryon Johnson doesn’t play, the Tigers will be in trouble offensively.
I'm hoping Gus has learned the error of his ways and actually has a sans KJ game plan.
mory bullytin board matyrial! kyyp ym coming!
I get to meet some of Cincytiger's Cincinnati friends tonight for dinner. They'll probably report back to Cincy that I'm a nut obsessed with maps and I outkicked my coverage by 88 billion gigaparsecs; i.y., nothing Cincy doesn't already know.
What puts you and Cincy's friynds in thy samy proximity?
If Cincy shows up, perhaps she can correct or improve on my currently incomplete knowledge... I think the Cincinnatians' infant grandchild is in the local medical center; prayers would be most appreciated.
That, I can do.
Inventory going out faster than you can imagine. Having a hard time keeping up with the shelf-stocking. bubbs, was that you with the fake "clean up on aisle 9" page for THT?
I'm missing a whole lotta college football today.
Back at it for a couple days, then off for the holidays. I'll take it.
No time off for me during the Holidays. Favorite time of the year to work because nobody is here.
I'm off this week. Went to Asheboro today (had to show the bagman where #91's parents live). Heading to Richmond, Yorktown, and Williamsburg tomorrow. Trips to W-S Thursday evening and Saturday evening. I won't miss work this week. At. All.
Maybe you and Ann Coulter can instant message over the holidays, E-Bro.
Anyone fix blogger yet?
Saw the new star wars movie over the weekend. It watched good.
Been busy, busy at the Cincy hacienda for a few days. I know y'all know this, but THT and his Mrs. are amazingly awesome people. Our friends from Cincinnati have a 3 year old granddaughter just diagnosed with leukemia. The granddaughter and parents live in Wilmington. Our friends came over from CIncy to stay in a hotel and keep the five year old sister while the 3 year old started treatment. THT and Mrs. had the grandparents and 5 year old over for dinner. They said they were treated like royalty. The 5 year old wants to go back for a sleepover. :) The world is full of good people and I know two of the best!!
Since me and MJT were the last two to post before Cincy, I think it's safe to assume she's talking about us as being two of the best.
That was mostly MrsTHT, Cincy. Obviously, bubbs and michael deserve some of the credit. I just came home from work that evening and sat down and ate.
I saw El Dorado tonight. It watched real good.
Oh, that's a good one.
At 3:30 this morning I decided not to travel today. Maybe i'll make the Virginia circuit tomorrow. In the meantime, I'll head down to UNC library. It will be empty today. Y'all play nicely.
I'd agree that THT and Mrs THT are pretty awesome.
And thank you cincy for calling me one of the best. It looks like you complimented all the regulars here except for ebro. No comment.
That's fair.
Totally.
Too far.
You're all special, trophies for everyone! Seriously, this is a pretty awesome group of people right here.
Trophies... LOL on I-64E
Rocking down the hwy with an eclectic mix of awesome music. Touch of Grey at this moment.
Didn't know you were a hippie, THT
I just stopped at a church where my great x6? grandfather was a minister in the 1720s
He founded the Hippie Movement
Yeah well my great x6 grandfather told your great x6 grandfather to cut his hair.
Given you and THT's generational gap, your x6 grandfather should have respected his elders a bit better.
I almost cut my hair. Happened just the other day.
Fake news Ebro. People have babies at all kinds of different ages. One of my other x6 great grandfathers was alive in the 1200s.
So, he was (is?) a vampire?
There's really no way to know, ebro.
I don’t like unanswerable questions; they keep me up all night.
Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?
No.
2.0 disagrees
Mr. Cincy says yes. Anytime I suggest we watch a Christmas movie, he says "Let's watch Diehard - great Christmas movie." So , there's that.
What does Mrs. Cincy say?
and I guess Mr. Cincy thinks Rio Bravo is a musical?
I posted a long paragraph explaining why it is not. Apparently it didn't make it through the ether
Diehard is not an anytime watching movie for me. I will suffer through Outlaw Josey Wales, Pale Rider, Broken Trail and a few others, but I draw the line at Diehard and Terminator movies.
Come on cincy, it's one of the best movies of all time! I've loved it since I was a kid.
I will say none of my kids have seen it... because the unedited version definitely earns its R. In the era of cord cutting, kids can't see nearly as many awesome action movies. I can remember watching Die Hard and Rambo and Terminator Predator and Commando and all kinds of awesome edited movies on TV back in the day.
I went out to the ether and read your post. Makes sense to me.
Y'all have a great campfire during the awful bowl game tonight. I'll be in Old Salem standing around outside in the cold.
Singing Christmas carols or what?
helping out with their candlelight tours. My assigned role was completely useless, something at which I excel. MrsTHT was assigned to the pottery and was pretty essential there.
Watching White Christmas now. Is that a Christmas movie?
when posts were getting slowed in the ether yesterday afternoon, I wondered if the upcoming 12BEASLEY!!! post would get botched due to ether delays. Turns out, it got botched with no delay whatsoever.
Wow. Some people just don't pay close enough attention to the post count.
White Christmas is actually an action movie.
michael, once again, is spot on. The opening war scene is especially riveting.
BTW, you stuck this in my head two days ago. GET IT OUT!
...preferably without providing a Jan Terri link.
Try another song about cutting hair:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8R0igKESJUY
meh.... not a catchy melody. But at least I now have the best song from that album in my head
aw come one, I love that song. I sing it to my wife every time she makes me get a haircut.
What do you consider the best song? 5:15? Real Me? Love Reign O'er Me?
The last one. The other two are very good.
Unfortunately, it's too late for me to order one of these for you to have it by Christmas. Maybe in 2048.
Looking forward to watching NMSU in the NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl next week. I can't remember whether or not I watched their last bowl game on TV.
This is the only football game I remember watching that year.
I'm I the only one in the southeast watching CMU vs Wyoming? GO POKES!!!
I'm guessing less than 10,000 fans there which is about 10 times more than were at the Bahamas Bowl earlier today.
I'm I???
How 'bout them Pokes?! They forced 8 turnovers on the blue rug in Boise. My only regret was the snow never arrived in sufficient quantity to cover that awful Smurf Turf.
How many of you made the short trip over to Legion Field for the big bowl game today? Looks like you had your choice of seats. In fact, I bet there's a row in the lower level where you could move freely to stay on the line of scrimmage the whole game.
Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Just getting back to the digital world.
Happy Belated Valentine's to ALL!
Yeah, Happy Valentine's to all you suckers who have to buy things for your wives/husbands and/or girlfriends/boyfriends.
I don't buy anything for any of them. But if you're in the buying mode, come on down to the Buy More on H. We'll be having a 24 hour sale. The sale ends just in time for me to go to prison on Friday.
The way E-Bro worded that, he's allowing that some of us have spouses AND girlfriend/boyfriend.
This ain't France, E-Bro.
I'll be heading to the 24hr sale to see if I can find some cast iron for the wife.
I'm missing the USM vs FSU game :(
GO GOLDEN EAGLES!
bubbs, I didn't want to assume anything and I judge no one (you depraved lunatics).
So, blogger seems to be working again. It's a Festivus miracle!
That aluminum pole can work some magic.
We'll have a limited supply of magical aluminum poles available tomorrow at the Buy More for $19.95.
Any cast iron ware tomorrow?
only the finest Dixie cast paper products, but they usually sell out quickly.
yep, they've sold out already.
Must have been all the Missouri players. They didn't show up to the game last night because of it.
busy busy busy busy :(
Kerryon
Finally slowed down enough where I think I'll head home so I can get ready to do my time in the penitentiary later this morning. Looks like I missed a fantastic Alamo Bowl.
It was quite good. What bowl games are supposed to be. Weird and fun.
Not so concerned about getting a weird Peach Bowl, but I want it to be fun!
After a double+ shift and 3 hours sleep, I'm drooling on myself, but I still got to work early in hopeful anticipation of my parole hearing this afternoon.
I haven't been paying any attention to basketball, but I noticed AU has a good record. Is this going to be like prior years where start off great against a bunch of nobodies and we end up at +/- .500 or will this early season success carry over into conference play? I.e. will I be setting myself up for disappointment if I start paying attention?
We're going to find out quick by starting with Tennessee away and Arkansas at home.
UNC won at TN and lost at home to Wofford. The logical conclusion is that the game at TN is a gimme.
Like E-Bro said, we should know within a few conference games if we got a real shot at the dance this year.
Early predictions say we are right on that bubble.
ok, playtime is over. Time to buckle down and get to the real work if I'm going to have any chance at parole for good behavior this afternoon. I've spent the day thus far working on the weekend Buy More work schedule for April through December. I'm sure, if you could see it, you would quickly observe that yours truly has crammed his weekends into the Spring & Summer months (with one in December for good show) and zero work weekends during what I anticipate to be the terribly mediocre season we didn't get this past Fall. Except for Thansgiving weekend. I usually work that holiday and weekend when the Iron Bowl is on the smelly side of the state.
Everybody doing OK in here?
I got a bunch of cast iron stuff for Christmas, so I no longer need to visit the buymore for anything really.
What about some cornmeal or something?
THT has never given me even the slightest indication that the Buymore has cornmeal.
But has he given you the indication that they don't?
War Eagle cornmeal is really good. It's somewhere in NW Arkansas. We can't seem to keep our cornmeal in stock. We do have some great mealworms.
We may have to go to Laramie to warm up this week.
Guess I will knock out one of those TCM movies I've been saving on the 'ol DVR next Monday night.
I've got Sons of Katie Elder on the DVR. Dean Martin and John Wayne were good, but the other sons couldn't act worth a hill of beans. I don't even remember what I watched after the Rose Bowl, but I didn't last long. A huge bowl of ice cream followed by two dachhunds in my lap sealed my fate.
busted pipes and flood in the penitentiary this weekend knocked out most everything. I'm thrilled internet just came on. The work will pile up until they get the phone system back on line. I'll either get paroled early or end up stuck here late trying to get caught up. It's not hard to guess which option I'd prefer.
Yikes! Gotta drip those penitentiary faucets.
Yesterday has to be the worst day in Auburn football history that didn't involve a loss to bama.
I was so disappointed and downright embarrassed in our offensive and defensive trench warfare yesterday. Offensive lived up to its name and then some. When Stidham leaves the pocket, he's a lot slower than he looks. He must run the forty in 10 flat.
I sure hope our new Aussie lad Arryn Siposs can punt. According to one sportswriter, Siposs "can roost the footy a long way". I have no idea what that has to do with punting.
I think Stidham is the opposite of Tom Brady when it comes to pocket presence. He has a knack for moving into the pass rush.
O line was with most offensive offender, though. It's hard to rationalize how great they played in our big wins and how bad they played in the big losses.
I can't remember what I did the past two years on the evening of the CFPNCG, but I'll be doing it again this year. Sleeping, perhaps? Somebody call and wake me up if UGA gets a lead of 22 points or more.
PAROLE! Must have been the good behavior.
I think I'll schedule a bball practice for my 12U girls team on Monday night. Probably only Auburn fans will show up, which is fine.
Well, the freeze got our Auburn condo. Sprinkler system froze and burst on the fourth floor and flooded all the units all the way down. Mr. Cincy left in a rush to get over to check out the damage. I mostly wanted to make sure my Scottie B prints weren't damaged. ServPro is on the way. It's just stuff. Someone may have to remind me of that a few times.
Dang it!
Sorry to hear that, Cincy.
I feel lucky that the cold only got my heating unit. Hope you don't have much to contend with.
Apparently, everyone left this place to go help Cincy. Wish you guys would have let me know. We could have car pooled. How bad did it end up being, Cincy?
bizzzzie day at work. How come they get snow up north and snow down south, but no snow right here in the middle? Correction... not enough snow right here in the middle.
Cincy, I'm so sorry I wasn't there with a car full of towels.
Mr. Cincy has been working with adjusters and ServPro and others all day. Looks like they are going to have to move us completely out of the condo and take down all the ceilings. Lots of soaked insulation in the ceilings to deal with. Also have to examine all the electrical as lots of water came through the fixtures. Mr. Cincy and the insurance adjuster for the condo complex (the association insurance will be covering the repairs and all) are having a spirited discussion about whose insurance is going to pay for the contents that were damaged - mattresses, chairs, rugs, etc. Anyone care to place bets as to who will win that discussion?
Aqui.
I'm laying good money on Mr. Cincy.
Hate that you guys are having to go through this mess. It would be one thing if you were getting a remodel out of the deal, but you already just did that!
I'm guessing that the Vegas oddsmakers aren't even bothering with this one. All the money is on Mr. Cincy. This is a more sure thing than the Packers in the first and second AFL-NFL World Championship Games.
The line has swung so far in favor of Mr Cincy that I'm putting $10 on the other guy. Only way to make any money at this point, really.
you probably thought the Chiefs would win. Well, maybe your father thought the Chiefs would win since you weren't thinking yet.
AFL 4 Life!
How can you not be for the AFL? They haven't lost a championship in something like 50 years.
Hey THT, the predictor people now have AU right in the middle of the pack of March Madness. Don't start believing, but don't book up your March quite yet.
I've got a bit of vacation time in March. Maybe I'll go see them in the tournament. Yep, that's what I'll do. Or maybe not. The last time I went to an AU NCAA tournament game, they trailed 26-4 after about 12 minutes. They almost pulled it out. I think the ref swallowed his whistle in the last minute to AU's detriment.
7 degrees when I passed the beaver pond on the way to work this morning. I thought to myself, what a great temperature. And then I thought, I'm glad it's 70 degrees inside my car.
About 13 degrees on the run this morning. Didn't bother me one bit. I love this weather.
I don't know why I live in Alabama.
regardless of the temperature, a run would bother me.
This cold dry weather is hard on my lungs as far as running is concerned.
Did you ever get over your PF caused by the ill advised shoe choice for the pick up bball game?
Yeah, I pretty much do no athletic endeavors for about 3 weeks around Christmas, so that ailment healed up mostly. PF is always kinda there once you have it, though. Just got to warm that tendon up.
But when I went back to play on Wednesday, I aggravated my back injury. So now I got to fix that.
Minimizing exercise is a great way to minimize injuries
Tomorrow is our big 24 hour Winter Freeze Sale at the Buy More. Come on buy! We're expecting a huge shipment of cast paper kitchenware today. Nothing works better to get the fire started in your fireplace. Well, gasoline works better, but we don't sell that at the Buy More. We do have a nice selection of 1, 2, and 5 gallon galvanized paper gas cans.
I've been in the market for a 2.5 gallon galvanized paper can. Any chance you'll get some of those in?
I wanna try installing it on someone's motorbike. I think it would be lighter and faster that way. Surprised no one has thought of this before.
Arizona coaching candidates. The list includes just about everyone but Donald Trump, bubbs, and me. There are two Michaels (surely one of them must be ours) and even a Cincy... or is that a Clancy... either way, close enough.
Can you imprint my family crest on the galvanized paper gas cans?
Yes, a transfer print can be applied after the 3D printing process, or your family crest can be embossed during the 3D printing process. It's really a matter of personal preference. The cans sell for 0.99, 1.99, and 2.99. The family crest, printed or embossed, is only an additional 199.99 USD.
Not sure a picture of a goat is worth 199.99.
It's actually the 1997 Arby's logo. Didn't feel like spending the time or the money to make a unique one.
Glad you copied the earlier logo. I'm not a fan of the squatty and more widely spaced Arby's on the current logo compared to your family crest.
Personally, I think Arby's is even worse than Cracker Barrel. However, the logo is okay. I would go with the pre-1969 version. It's a bit wordy, but there's something about it that says "family crest."
in high school I would frequently stop by Arby's for a snack of two sammiches, two fries, two colas for some very low mid-afternoon only price. If stopping there for lunch or supper, it was always 4 sammiches, no fries. I love those things but I don't remember the last time I had one :(
I love Arby's roast beef sandwiches, but my wife doesn't, so I maybe have one every 4 years or so.
Can't you go on a "daddy/daughter date" and make it happen?
I mean, I can't see why you would want to, but it doesn't seem that hard to create the opportunity. Other than the fact that you don't want to spend money, and you pack lunches for your daddy/daughter dates.
AU basketball scores 88 points in their win tonight. I like that!
There's still plenty of time to save big bucks at the Buy More Winter Freeze Sale. We're completely sold out of cast paper kitchenware. However, we've got a superb variety of officially licensed Thumb Wrestling Rings. I'm tellin' ya, you just can't find these at Amazon
3 whole degrees this morning. I'm glad we weren't shortchanged.
Loved me some Arby's cheese sticks back in my high school days. Also thought there chicken fingers were really good once upon a time.
Haven't been in maybe a decade.
8+ days since we made it to 32. We should hit it some time today on our way to low 40s. I've enjoyed the cold (and I hope it froze every nasty critter hiding in the ground) but it will be nice to wash all the salt off my car without creating an icy hazard in the driveway.
Looks like we should order some March Madness tickets
Hard freeze and March Madness in our sights. Not bad at all.
did I mention that MrsTHT wants us to go to Japan in April to visit her cousins? She hasn't seen them in 50 years. I'm not sure we even know their names. We're assuming they still live in Kumamoto. Perhaps it's a bit premature to be searching for cheap/reasonable airfare.
Has anyone checked into the phone records of Hard Freeze?
Go for the Cherry Blossoms, THT. Stay for the family members that Mrs. THT may or may not have living there.
We'll be there late April.. if we go. According to this calendar we will miss the cherry blossoms in central/southern Japan (Kumamoto is very southern)... and hopefully the crowds that flock to them.
Maybe a side trip via train to Hokadate will be worthwhile.
Do they have maps in Japan?
Maps I can't read.
Poor THT is one of the US Americans who don't have maps
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww
can't wait to get home from prison to watch that.
I certainly don't have as many maps as David Rumsey or Barry McLean.
Oh it's just the 10 year old Ms South Carolina clip. Her entire quote:
"I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, uh, people out there in our nation don't have maps and, uh, I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future. For our children."
I didn't even go watch the clip, because I knew exactly what MJT had linked without having to look.
That should probably give me pause...
At least she didn't call the Asian countries Oriental, assuming MJT's transcript of what she said is correct.
The evolution of the word "Oriental" into a slur has fascinated me. I remember being surprised to learn it wasn't cool in college.
Read this a couple of years ago and found it interesting:
http://beta.latimes.com/opinion/op-ed/la-oe-tsuchiyama-oriental-insult-20160601-snap-story.html
I mean, I'll behave myself and not use it obviously (not that I used it a bunch prior to learning it was considered negative). Now people are genuinely offended by it, and it's never good to offend. Language is not an absolute and it is genuinely not a cool word now... but like I said, I'm fascinated by its evolution.

A word headed in the other direction (maybe?).
Which word you talking about?
The band name thing seems like common sense... much like the N word, what is it my business telling how someone of another race should handle their racially charged words?
As far as the Redskins are concerned... I mean, that term was always derogatory, right? I actually just did an internet search and was surprised to see that 1 in 10 DC area Native Americans were OK with the team name. Interesting. Maybe that's what you meant by "word headed in the other direction." Redskin started out as offensive but became more benign due to non-racist use.
Unfortunately, there's really no way to know which word you were talking about.
By the way you messed up 12BEASLEY!!!!!
I mean 13BEASLEY!!!! whatever
You're not very good with math or BEASLEY!!!'s.
least i didn't just mess up a BEASLEY!!!
I heard through the grapevine this morning that ua-t won the Consolation Bowl. yuck.
BEASLEY!!!*
*just in case. I haven't had my Diet Coke yet, so my math skills are obtunded.
Don't know what you're talking about, THT, but I did hear that UGA lost last night.
perhaps some of you received this email. Some of these are quite clever...

we had frozen pipes in the wall of our garage leading to two outdoor spigots. The water is now running again at the spigots and I'm hoping we have no burst pipes there. It's a little late for me to learn this...
Turn the water supplying the spigot off (hopefully there's a shutoff in a heated portion of the home that supplies only this spigot. If not, you could install one).
Open the spigot to drain the pipe, and leave it open until the cold weather has passed.
Hmm. I'd say your chances of escaping a bust is greatly dependent on what kinda pipe you got in there. Hope you don't come home to a flooded wall!
we use only the highest grade Dixie cast paper pipes.
and the pipes go BOOOOOOOM!!!
does everyone else hate the new Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta as much as I do? Can we buy our way out of our next game there?
