Auburn Pro Day
Hey everyone. Today was a slow day on the Plains. That must mean it's PRO DAY, which is among the dullest events I cover every year. That's not to say it's meaningless. It's just ... players running drills that don't involve anyone else. And some of you all rip me for being a soccer fan! Soccer is Mardi Gras compared to this.
Anyway: They had a full house today. Scouts from every NFL team and two head coaches (Pittsburgh's Mike Tomlin and Cincinnati's Marvin Lewis) were on hand to view some prospects. It's clear that Pat Sims and Quentin Groves were the big draws, though Carl Stewart's numbers are alarming.
This kid couldn't play a bigger role?
Here are your results from today's action. Sorry this stuff is jumbled. I don't have a more efficient delivery method.
Name --> Height/Weight/Vertical/Long Jump/Bench/40/short shuttle/"3 cone"
**Numbers in parenthesis are numbers from the NFL Combine, which I figured you all would want to see. If they're in parenthesis, that means the kid didn't participate in that drill today.
***"Bench" = number of reps at 225 pounds.

Okay, I can't stand it anymore. As a father I have to ask this question, because I really want to know.
I AM NOT being judgmental. I mean a guy can tattoo his tallywacker if he wants too. But, what is it that I say to my son if he one day comes home with "crazy white boy" tattooed on his face?
I asked Antoine about this last fall. He said padre was none too happy about the situation. I think Antoine was 14 when he got the tattoo.
Suffice it to say: Antoine is a different kid today than he was four years ago.
The tattoos remain.
I think someone asked what they look like. It's two pillars of letters coming down near his eyes.

Where i come from we read left to right so that reads H-BOOTY to me, and soccer still sucks. I'd rather write a ten page paper on a game of checkers between pat lee and pat sims than watch a 3-2 "shootout"
Carl Stewart surprised me with his vertical leap. Right around 40" with that build if pretty phenominal. His speed at the 4.7 range is doable in the NFL as a fullback. Problem is, is he big enough to play that position in the NFL?
If anybody was disappointed by Stewart's 40 time I'd have to think you didn't watch him run his wheel routes. He runs one speed and one speed only.
Another thought. It's time for P Rod to simply find a career outside of football. He's not going anywhere. He's just not a great athlete and that's what you have to be with that frame. I guess he told the story many times over the last two years.
All in all, this was probably one of the more boring Pro Days in a while. No dynamic guys other than maybe Sims, Q, and Lee.
I've written the equivalent of 10 pages on Pee Lee and Pat playing checkers. I'd take soccer over that.
I mean, I like football. Watching people run in straight lines and lift weights is something else entirely. Heck, some of the scouts look bored.
Carl ... what an athlete. Surely there is a place for him in pro ball.
I guess we all have our vices mine is reality t.v. you name it... i watch it. I often find myself defending shows in which their audiences consist of me and most 14 year old girls.
Mine is trying to dunk again at 5'11" and 35 years of age.
Yes....the odds are not with me.
Dunk again at 5'11".
How tall was the original goal?
I'm kidding with you.
10'. It lasted from 16 to 26. I'm starting to come around.
Lockhart's been beggin for the chair for a long, long time. He does not care. He almost sanely does not care.
I share the same problem Mr. Mexico. I think I am one of very few people in my age group who still watches Real World/ Road Rules- The Gauntlet. That stuff fascinates me...and makes my wife question my sanity.
A "bigger" role for Carl Stewart? Ever see him block? I always felt he was one of the reasons Kenny Irons did so well. I agree he could've held or caught the ball a few more times, but Carl's best work was making life hell for opposing linebackers and defensive ends. I can't remember him ever missing a blocking assignment.
I just hope he goes to an NFL team that can appreciate his talent. Just like Heath Evans eventually finding a home with the Seahawks/Patriots.
If they had nicknames for offensive postions like they do for the defense, i.e. "Mike" and "Buck", fullback would be the "no love" slot.
Going back a bit, but I think William Andrews would agree with you.
