Video report, 9/17

More offense this time.

Both quarterbacks are represented. Sorry about that weird effect during the Kodi Burns clip. My lighting was bad. I figured you all really wanted to hear him talk about Tony Franklin, though, so I included it anyway.

Also savor Antonio Coleman giving the offense a backward compliment and Tray Blackmon loving "The Little Ball of Hate".

Enjoy.

Tray arrived at AU weighing 195#. He is now around 220#. He ain't "little" no more. How about "mean ball of hate".

Kodi has a great attitude and I hope that attitude gets rewarded as soon as he is ready.

I am jacked-up for this LSU game already and having trouble staying focused at work. Everybody is talking SEC football. The D will be great, hoe we can get the offense worked out.

Tray said something about that the other day ... about how he's not that small anymore.

Standing next to Sen'Derrick, though, he's still small.

I'm becoming more optomistic about the coming clash of the tigers. JGT, any comments on the youthfulness of the LSU secondary and if that could be exploited somewhat? I know our offense will start clicking at some point, just not sure when yet. I hope it's this weekend.

Hey Jay,

Random question here--

When you are watching the games at Jordan-Hare, do you watch from the press box, the field, or a little of both?

Just curious..

I think youth at linebacker is a better situation for Auburn. LSU's top guy, Darry Beckwith, is going to be out a while.

I'm also not sold on LSU's quarterbacks. The top guy is a transfer from Harvard and, you know, it's a pretty big jump from the Ivy League to Jordan-Hare Stadium.

I'm sure he's talented and all ...

I think Auburn has a real shot Saturday. If that offense avoids all those mistakes, they're not half bad.

I'm in the press box from kickoff until the final seven minutes or so.

Then I ease down to the field (or Scottie B's seats in the SW corner) so I have better access to post-game interviews. If I wait to go down until after the final play is whistled dead, the exiting crowd would prevent me from making it to the interview room on time.

Jay,
You are right on the money, its like everyone have been concentrating on AU's offense, I said I wonder about LSU's QB play adn their offense against our defense.

I will give my analysis of the game on "Anaylsis Thursday"!

Blogger ADP said...

I am going to get my thursday anaylsis in on Wednesday.

Having previously proven my ignorance beyond all doubt, I have decided that I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen.

I am just going to sit there and watch the game, cross my fingers, and yell a lot. Might be cussing to myself a lot. Don't know. e'll see.

Scottie B ... turn around and look about 30 rows behind you. That's where me and my friend will be. I'll hit you later.

Great job on the video Jay.

I made a point of having my eye glued on Tray for a couple of series Saturday - he delivered some hate!!

One particular play the running back hit the line at the same time as Tray - turned him around the other way - man can he hit!!

The D will hold their own Saturday - shoot - they have a green QB too - look for a conservative game plan from Miles. I just hope we DON'T do the same and open things up a little - minus the fumbles - minus the penalties - minus the interceptions.

Things jell this weekend for the Tigers and pull out a win.

Wednesday Analysis:

Auburn is an underdog in their own stadium, at night, against LSU. If I were a betting man, and not emotionally involved, and lived in a place where sports betting were legal, I'd put a small amount of money (probably no more than the house minimum) on Auburn and the points.

Here are the questions I would ask myself if I were doing a real analysis:

Is Auburn good enough to score points against and SEC defense?

Which Auburn QB is better?

Are the holes in LSUs defense even relevant, given how good the rest are?

Does Hatch say "car" like a cajun or a Kennedy?

Will Auburn's QB perform better then LSU's QB?

What color tiger head will Corso put on, and will it be correct?

The answer to every one of these questions is I dunno, but the Hatch question could probably be answered by finding some audio of him.

At any rate, War Eagle. Can't wait for Saturday.

To answer your questions Peter Frankenschmidt:

Yes Auburn is good enough to score points on an SEC defence. We scored alot of points last year at Death Valley against the eventual BCS champion at night with Brandon Cox as our quarterback.

Kodi Burns is better than Chris Todd... but thats like saying Hurricane Gustav was better than Hurricane Ike.

The holes in LSU's defence are relevant, if Auburn can exploit those holes. I would imagine their weakness would lie in their secondary, but then again I'm not sure Chris Todd can throw it past 20 yards.

Hatch says car like caaaa (Kennedy's)

LSU's quarterback will perform better by default... he simply has better rceievers to throw to

Corso will definately put on a bengal tiger head

I'm tempted with that bet Jay - Corso shows some Love this weekend and picks the upset - just to upset the state of LA......

señor de ardilla:

I remember that night well last year. I almost ripped a guy's head off for yelling "tiger bait" at me as I exited the stadium.

That being said, this is not last year's Auburn offense. Personnel hasn't changes a whole lot, so the ability is surely still there, but I'm just not sure what I'm even looking at anymore. Its weird, and I don't know what can truly be accomplished in this conference with this offense.

7:06 PM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

I know what you mean, Pete, as far as not knowing what you're looking at anymore.

No real identity.

Blogger ADP said...

Truly ... that is such an apt description.

The whole game last week I'm sitting there asking myself, "just what in the hell am I watching exactly? What IS this?"

I know what i was looking at saturday night... a high school offense. 3 or 4 different running plays with the occasional weak armed lob down the middle of the field. I wish i was more optimistic, but tony franklin is going to have to pull a rabbit out of his ass to put up more than 14 points.

But i have been the most wrong person on this blog when it comes to making predictions this year and i hope the trend continues.

8:02 PM
Blogger ron mexico said...

For the record I still think this offense can work. I just don't think we are very close right now.

8:03 PM
Blogger ADP said...

If he can do that with a rabbit, then I think we have a chance.

Maybe he's still distraught over 3-2.

I think this offense can definitely work in the SEC. The question is, can we get a QB to run it?

This offense can spread the defense both vertically and horizontally. You need a QB that can is either a great passer(i.e. Bradford at OU) or runner (i.e. Pat White at WV). If you have a QB that can do both (i.e. Daniel at Mizzou), you become lethal.

Todd can do neither. At least Kodi can run.

We just have to be more offensively offensive ... uh, in a positive way.

Not trying to turn the HABOTN into stubhub or anything, but i'm in the market for two tickets to the game on saturday and willing to depart with some cash. So if anyone has got the hook up let me know.

Blogger ADP said...

rm - I might. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Here is the $64,000 question. Very few of us actually believe that AU can score any points.

Does AU believe they can score any points?

Something very good needs to happen very early, or it is gong to be another very long night.
