New feature
I have added a HABOTN Hall of Fame along the right side of the page.
You can find it under the Twitter feed.
The Ring of Fire represents the most enlightened and veteran HOTTIES whose frequent contributions make us the hotspot we're becoming. Without their guidance, we'd be lost like Noel Mazzone during the 2001 Chick-fil-A Bowl.
We're also appreciative of the up-and-comers who are learning the ways and showing remarkable promise. Their hotness will not go unnoticed.
Also, recent research suggests buck has been reading the HABOTN longer than anyone else.

Man, I have a lot of work to do to catch up with the likeness of all those all-star hotties. Thats what you get for reading all the time and never posting.
It's only a matter of time before I'm feeling the heat...
Eddie, you've had a great October.
Keep bringin' the heat.
Its an honor..... I think, nice Casey Kasem ref.
Yes sir.
CK is the Official Voice of the HABOTN.
Do these guys get gold jackets? If so...Time to man up and post!
I've definitely had a hotter October than our Offensive offense.
One word to descibe the last 10 months:
Flabergasted
The hotter the berry, the sweeter the juice.
Note: Without Chris Tucker, the sequels disappointed.
Well over here, the corner of HAB and OTN, we call this a TWENTY-TWEN-TWEN.
I seriously cannot believe TT wants to really run the spread.....has he seen Alabamas O? One point, CTT best coaching job (with maybe the exception of 2004) was 2000, we had NOTHING, NOTHING and we went to ATL on the back of Rudi Johnson.
I am not a big recruiting guy, but, I seriously think when Enrique Davis Decommitted, CTT said 'Well I am all in now' cant look back.
Believe Scott. He wants Oklahoma's offense with Baylor talent. Wait a minute, Baylor has a QB.
Eddie,
Does he think the failures in 05 and 06 (when we were loaded) were because of the offense? No, it was in 05 becasue we started Tre Smith in the GT game instead of Irons and Vaughn missed 5 field goals v LSU - in 06 we just didnt show up for two games. I swear I think his neck is really bothering him.
I now have purpose in life. That purpose: THE RING OF FIRE.
I'm feeling the heat like Russ Griswold in European Vacation.
Thanks for the honor Jay G. I pledge to keep bringing the heat, from the desktop, from the laptop, from the Blackberry, and of course on the Internet airwaves.
Let's keep this site rockin' fellow Hotties!
'Look kids' 'Big Ben' 'Parliment'

Scott,
I agree. As much greatness as Tuberville has had, he sure does know how to lay an egg. It kills me when he does, especially because I am usually in the stands. I have been at every game that he laid an egg at except Vanderbilt this year. Those games are hard to drive home from. I always have felt and feel that if he could ever change the page and hire a good offensive coordinator and allow him to have his staff in place, that Auburn could really be rockin. Tubs knows defense as good as anybody, but you got to the have the offense to keep them off the field, and too often we are putting the D in too much trouble.
Gang, this is off Auburn topic, but does anyone know if Penn State has a "coach in waiting?"
Just wondering...
Remember that time when Jason Campbell threw a 4th down pass to Courtney Taylor that saved a drive that led to a 3rd and long TD pass from Jason to Courtney again?
That was awesome..
im disappointed i didnt make the cut
Nick Saban, Mr Sensible.
Nick Saban.
Eddie,
Preach it....one of his biggest mistakes ever...handing the keys to the 03 offense to Nallsminger....Granted history will show we lost to both national champs and UGA who was 13-1, but he blew that one big time.
Sensible,
Jay Paterno, OB coach
Mr Sensible...Penn State definitely has a coach in waiting. Hell, I would be willing to bet that Paterno has very little to do with this years team. I believe he justs sits in the box with no Head phones now during the games. Its time for him to go, and they need to hire who ever is really running this team.
That 4th down pass from Campbell to Taylor was the turning point of Campbell's career and of Auburn football.
That's when, at least for a short period of time we became a dominant program. From that point forward in 2004 they played completely differently than they had played the 2 3/4 games prior to that.
Questiyon?
Why do some people think recruiting isn't a big deal? OK. Maybe it isn't a big deal to UT, FSU and Notre Dame because they suck. Kind of feel guilty for saying that this year.
Any who...
Aside from all the fluffy propaganda the services like Rivals spew, recruiting really, really matters. You can turn on just about any game from Wednesday to Saturday and you'll see offenses with skill players that just look better than ours.
Oh, Taylor, you're in there.
(The second list remains a work in progress.)

rk, I've ALWAYS felt exactly the same way about those two plays. They were so so prior to that. They played hard. But they weren't going to be better than 8-3 until then.
Also, after that game came the really saucy stuff from Borges. The formations. The trickeration. Times were good.
Scott,
His biggest blunder is keeping Knox and hiring Ensminger and then keeping Ensminger. As you may or may not know, I am also not a big fan of Nall. The OL play this year reminds me of 03 when we had no ability to handle a slanting defense. His loyalty to his assistants could end up being his downfall. But if the rumors are true that TPTB are going after a buyout to go get Jimbo Fisher, then I don't get it. Jimbo is a great guy, but I don't see how he could possibly be an upgrade from Tuberville.
rk, but GT ran the slant? Nobody, I mean nobody can run through the slant!
good deal. i was starting to think i had become as inept as chris todd
Ah, Eddie. You know the slant. I love the slant. EVerybody ran the slant except Auburn. Auburn did not run the slant. It made sense.
If Campbell doesn't hit Taylor, then I agree, we are probably a 9-2/8-3 type team that year.
All of the sudden he makes two passes and the game slowed down for him and he was the dominant QB that it looked like he was going to be all along.
I was hoping that drive that got us to the 5 yard line last week vs Ark would have been that for Kodi...but that didn't work out so well.
here's an interesting situation. everyone weigh in your thoughts
id be in favor of (if TPTB end up forcing tubbs out) TT taking the AD job, and bringing whomever in to coach. i think TT would be a hell of an AD
crudup...It is hard to watch all the college games and see that most of the schools can actually throw and catch, but I will also say that these teams are not playing in the SEC. Defense in the SEC is king, and it can make average offenses look really really exposed.
I was amazed in 2003 that USC and GT ran stunts against our offensive line and nobody adjusted to it.
That proves you can't be OC and the OL coach at the same time.
There's a new version of the slant, called the slope, that defenses are running in the PAC 10 this year. It's not quite as successful as its predecessor. But it's not bad.
that way, they can agree to 86 the buyout
Tub will never be the AD.
He'll ride off into the sunset with his money.
The only way I'd see him coming back to coach is if the Arkansas job came open. That one might be hard for him to pass up.
I forgot about The Slant.
That was the Excuse D'Année in 2003.
crudup,
I think it matters, it just doesnt deserve the attention people give it. You look at Bama's sucess this year, most of the players came from Shula recruits (Wilson, Caldwell, Smith, McLain, Coffee, Upchruch) I just dont like hearing 50 year old men spending rent money for a recruting service talking about how many 'stars' someone has. I mean Auburn 'won' the recruitig war in 2007 and from that class, it is already known that at least 12 will never play for Auburn.
Example: Sen Derrick Marks Top 20NFL Pick - 2 star, Jerrel 'Doesnt Like to hit' Harris - 5 star.
You can bring examples like these going each way for every team.
Taylor, that's my vision. Tubs steps down. Health problems. He's had a ton of neck pain, surgeries, etc. His back is in old fella shape. He's tired. He doesn't like getting out on the road anymore like he used to.
So, he pulls the ultimate and takes Jay's job. I couldn't ask for a better end to the last laugh campaign.
Saying our OL hadn't thought about blocking a slant was like Franklin saying "sometimes I forget they can bring more people than you have lined up to block."
How do you not think of that?
Taylor, TT would be a hell of an AD, but I guarantee you that he will never be the AD at Auburn. TPTB want him removed of all power, and I can promise you that Tubs would never become a puppet, which is the number one requirement of Auburn AD. The only time we didn't have a puppet was when Mike Lude was AD, and that was all because of the NCAA penalties. It take too long for Lude to be ran off and Housel take over.
Scott. Agree. Kodi was a 5 by scout. That doesn't make sense especially after watching Tulsa and NC State.
i can see tubbs as AD. he likes Auburn, his kids like auburn. remember that 9000 SF house? he owuld do a bang up job
I am always amazed by how grown men pay their hard earned money to follow 17 year old boys online at the hope that they will go to the school they love. Some of these people seriously know more about these kids than their parents probably do.
No offense to anyone who does, it's just amazing to me.
RK - sounds like a bunch of catholic priests...
I don't think Tub would want to be the AD.
There is enough pressure being the football coach.
rk, that's sort of how the kids get there sometimes. $$$
Maybe Chris Hansen needs to check into Rivals and Scout subscribers as well.
Tuberville won't be an AD.
I'm telling you -- he'll cash out and be an analyst. He'd be very good.
OK, OK.
I'm Catholic; one of 20 in this state.
Leave our priests alone.
(Setting it up on the tee ...)
Jay, not bad. I like that. I would enjoy seeing that.
jay
how do you feel about the beat being more "in real time"
do you enjoy it more or is it a hassle?
The only HS football I follow is the school I went to and played at. My nephew is the starting QB.
Other than that, I can probably name 5 players that are playing in the game.
You have people who have never played a down of peewee football who spend hundreds of dollars to know every detail of these kids lives. It's disturbing.
Dude,
I gotta make it. I was strong out the blocks in 06 and 07 but I kinda slagged this past year. I got lazy, I made irrational decisions to get an edge over "those posters on the other side of the state" I have to right the ship, keep a positive attitude, and get better and better. Aint nuttin I can do cept post my guys on the line again, and again and again.
...I wasn't talking about the priests. Tubs on TV.
did you see the "new found confidence" that KB supposedly has?
...Better and better.
Thats actually a good draw for the
AU job,
AU Coach Life Cycle
work for a couple of years and get paid well
receive buyout to keep mouth shut
take analyst position
What is why Auburn coaches an being on TV as analysts. I agree Tubs would be a great analyst. I just hope he doesn't gain the 200 pounds Bowden did after he left.
Wow, a Catholic from Louisville. I would have never guessed.
Taylor, speaking of delusional...
Kodi's been on and off the positive kick since Fall Camp. But then again, he's 18 or 19. Anything's possible beyond rational thinking back then.
cant you all see the new Dr Tubbs segment on sportscenter?
Kodi needs to take this next summer and go to one of the QB camps where they teach you technique and footwork...or perhaps we'll actually have a coach that can do that for him.
Ensminger gave a really good endoresement to KB today. He is the starting QB for now. What the hell. These coaches need to give this Kid something to believe in and get him motivated. If we play to not make mistakes, we will never get better.
I could see that. But I could also see Tom Cruise dresses as the Last Samurai and addressing our team at half time.
No, Kodi and the rest of the QB's need to go to camp and learn how to go thru your progression of reads instead of locking on one man all the time and running if he is covered.
Maybe they figure he'll be motivated by fear of losing the job.
Oh wait, that was tried already.
Would Tub be a TV studio guy, or a color commentator?
It's not like our recievers help our QB's out a whole lot.
Tubs would be on the Food Network hosting thier BBQ special.
I honestly think Tom Cruise could come in and consult our offense.
Excellent.
"BBQ the Nallsminger way hosted by Coach Tommy Tuberville."
the whole offense needs a gut check. people need to step up and take the losses personally...namely seniors like rod smith, rob dunn, tyrone green. the team lacks leadership and intensity. zero swagger...it looks like 11 freshmen playing out there
wareaglelerk...I promise you that our receivers are barely average, but I also promise you that I have seen a lot of them running completely uncovered this year and last year, but our QB's couldn't find them for nothing. TV does not do justice to what you see when you are there.
I thought covering the beat in real time would be a hassle, but it's actually pretty fun.
As a personal update, we're planning to attend the big Sylacauga-Briarwood Christian game tomorrow night.
Charles Goldberg (Bammerham News) and Jason Caldwell (ITAT) are from The Marble City ... and they're going ... and I like them a lot.
"I am always amazed by how grown men pay their hard earned money to follow 17 year old boys online at the hope that they will go to the school they love."
Uh huh, as opposed to waiting until they get here, spending hard earned money wishing they would do what they were supposed to be able to do. And then talk about it online. Umm ... yeah - I've got nothin.
I think Tubs could be AD.
Tubs as an analyst. This makes no sense to me at all. I like the man, but have you ever heard him take a thought from point A to point B in a way that clarifies the point he's trying to make, whatever that is? I just don't see it.
im lving in sherman, TX. Sherman is right down the road from a city called denison. the sherman - denison game is a hug rivalry. they call it the battle of the axe. how cool is that. we will be going in early Nov to take it all in
I agree Taylor. There is definitely a lack of fire on that side of the ball. No leadership what-so-ever. We really need someone to take charge of the huddle...wait a minute, no huddle. Thats it. How can you motivate by standing like praire dogs looking at the sidelines. Move to the huddle and everything is solved.
huge*, not hug rivalry. but im sure it would be interesting
Phred, good points. But Tubs can do what he always does and simply cat like he knows what he's talking about. Sometimes people around him think he's so smart that he can't even articulate his own genius thoughts.
i wouldve thought dunn would be out there with that intensity leading them boys
Phred waltzes in and has the post of the night in one effortless swoop.
Since when is making sense a prerequisite for being a prolific TV analyst?
Crudup ... glad to see you are in better spirits these days.
"I don't really know how to answer this question, but catfish sure sounds good."
Funny Thing about Tubs, I was the manager for the offensive line when he came, and he must have had 4-5 motivational / leadership books that he kept all the time in his locker. I only dealt with him one year, but he was always looking for an angle to motivate and ways to get it across.
Dunn's the only receiver that can get open on every single snap. He can. I watch him exclusively. He fakes his man out of his cleats at the line and he's out. They could actually throw the ball to him every down. I never understood what they saw in Dunn until this year. I hate that his senior season went down like this.
good point jay...hell they put a blubbering idiot like holtz on the air. he cant even talk
Right on Jay. Just look at Lou Holtz.
Scientology is our last hope.
Believe dat.
Please help me Tom Cruise, baby jesus.
Speaking of catfish. PMarsh, if you will, came out of the woodwork once again with the "Tubs is best with his back agains the wall" gig. You can't have that conversation without catfish and cruise ships.
dear lord baby jesus, with you rbaby einstein books...cant even speak a word yet...
First of all...thanks for the Ring of Fire prop.......probably not warranted in my case(not enough posts or quick wit like the other members).
Kodi's footwork would automatically get better if he would turn his shoulders to face downfield rather than throw with his chest facing down field. He typically turns his shoulders on long throws, but not on short throws. Kodi's short throws resemble a girl throwing darts. He also does't understand that you use a lot of wrist for long passes and much less on short passes (unless you are Brett Farve). Joe Namath had a noodle arm, yet used his wrist to get velocity.
looks like around 100 comments per post is getting to be the norm jay
is that Gumpin' Al? Or Alan from the Gump?
Why is Montgomery called 'The Gump'? I'd like to understand this once and for all.
Crudup..PMarsh seems to be pulling that same article out every year lately. Problem is, he is right on.
Hoopie, excellent. You're right on the short and long throws. I noticed Kodi actually had his shoulders facing downfield when he threw his last INT. It was a great looking ball if you weren't looking for red jerseys. If he can get control of his arm and utilize proper mechanics he can be a good passer.
I think it's trucker CB slang, and the replacement for monkeytown, which is what it used to be.
Eddie, I don't think the Catfish Hunter can get himself out of this corner this time around. If he does, he's legend. Pure and simple.
And why was it called monkey town?
Crudup, I'm just tired of being in this position every year. It is hard to watch, especially when LSU and Florida have won the last two MNC.
that I don't know. they have a lot of odd names for towns. kinda sounds like montgomery I guess. CB guys are kind of like blog posters, they all think they are funny (making fun of myself on that one), like Kurt in Big Trouble in Little China ... seen that?

The gump is our secret.
We keep it that way so no one wants to move here.
Seems that plan works to perfection.
Can you be perfect?
I know, Eddie. Been sittin' on the fence for 3 years. That '05 team had the stuff once they figured out who the right personnel were. '06? The traditional Tuberville eggs against Arky and UGA. You beat LSU and you're supposed to be going places.
breaker, breaker ... we got a bird dog takin' pictures about mile marker 11 south bound into monkeytown ... comeback
Jack dundee Fred?
yep
I think they will throw out the saying that the winner of LSU/Auburn game usually goes to the SEC Championship Game. It is true that every year LSU beats Auburn, it goes, just not when Auburn beats LSU.
My homeboy nola, a Mobile native, is Jewish.
Nola was telling Housel one day that he chose Georgia over Auburn because he felt UGA had a larger Jewish community.
Housel: "And you found that a Georgia?"
It was a classic moment.
Bottom Line from 03 to 07 AU had the team to contend for the conference championship....we got one...which isnt all that bad....wish we had 2 or 3
UGA has a jewish frat also
I know BTILC very, very well, Phred.
And, yes, Alan. I can be perfect on occasion.
According to Slobberin' Lou (aka sargeant spittle) .....Players win ball games and coaches coach. I agree.
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT.....a combination of recognizing talent, recruiting the players needed to fit the system, teaching fundamentals, strength training and position coaching.
Crudup do you think our WR woes are due a failure of one or all of these aspects?
Scott, really tough to win 2 and definitely 3, but you should at least make it back to Atlanta for a shot at it.
Classic move when he kissed kim cattrall in the sewer, and also when he caught the knife and threw it right back in the foreigners head.
I say teaching fundamentals is our biggest problem at Auburn, and then recruiting talent second. But you have to be able to at least make the recruit believe you intend to throw ball, and that has not been there very often over the last few years.
I was watching highlights from the 2004 SEC CG earlier ... holy cow, those WRs are better than anything Auburn has now.
I didn't realize the difference. I see the current guys all the time and don't realize how weak they are relative to Obomanu/ Aromashodu/Taylor.
Crud,
I've seen you be perfect.
Once when you got in a 3 point stance outside bourbon St bar in 98 and tackled me. That was pure perfection.
I'm out for the night.
Keep it real. I'll talk with you all tomorrow.
All, hoopie. Every one of them. Our WRs do not appear to do the work that our tailbacks, DBs, and LBs do in the weight room. Or, maybe it's just genetics which supports your quandary. There's no doubt these guys are cut loose without any legitimate coaching in fundamentals and technique. They're terrible in that regard. And this crew certainly didn't fit our old power West Coast system like the NFL crew did. Not sure what they were thinking.
04 was loaded with talent all accross the board: NFL QB, 2-RB, 4-WR's, 2-OL's. How could you screw up with that? For that answer turn to Nall and Ensminger.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Watching those 2004 games make me sad, very sad.
I don't like to be sad Jay.
I grew up in Prattville in the 60's-70's and no kidding.... we only had one Jewish girl in my grade. We got to the 10th grade and all of a sudden she filled out was HOT.
We were really ignorant .....we couldn't understand why she got all of these school vacation days that we didn't.
Don't forget about Anthony Mix too. I wish we had him now as well.
Don't drink and type folks. I'm not one to normally bring up an ethnicity/religion discussion.
One of those Strichik boys must have got to her.
Yes
I didn't think you were supposed to type any other way.
Montgomery gold?
What does a players schedule look like during an off week? Do they get to go home and chill on the weekend?
I just like to see my Chewie pic. Gotta post again.
It's cool PF.
Catch you all later.
Don't forget to tune in Saturday at 9:30 to the GRIDIRON BREAKDOWN where me and The Plauwlauw breakdown the big games of the weekend.
We've got SEC, Big 10, ACC, Big 12, and NFL games this week. We even talk about the SEC vs. Big 12 vs. Every other conference.
Thanks for your support.
Peter, the will practice more than likely on Thursday and be off Friday and Saturday and back at it on Sunday.
Who has the cooler avatar?
Me or Muschamp wuz here?
I gotta say, I'm loving the Chewie, man.
You can't go wrong with Chewie.
Everywhere
Speaking of that, bet ill see Tommy trott patrolling these streets this weekend. If not, Robert Johnson will be.
Anybody else see that throw from Gabe Gross just now? Par for the course for Auburn quaterbacks these days..Couldve sworn he had a 12 on his jersey.
Everett, I thought when I saw that throw that it reminded me of his (short) career as AU's QB.
He's usually much better though.
Sad that Todd makes gabes arm look good.
I follow all day and nothing. The wife is out of town and I have homework duty. What happens, like 150 phreakin posts.
Anyway, Auburn is in good hands this weekend. I expect a blowout.
Seriously, until we get Tate running from the I formation, I see virtually no improvement. I think we pulled the trigger a little early on the spread. It will take time.
Next year everyone will be better.
The days of Gabe Gross and Jeff Klein..Now, that was a tough time to be an Auburn fan. Of course, I was more concerned with where the party was gonna be after the game
I love watching the Rivals Minute when Ashley Russell shows cleavage.
Random yes. But Awesome.
From Jay's original post...speaking of Mazzone and the 2001 Peach Bowl.
What about that offensive game plan to focus on Julius Peppers? We focused on him so much, that Ryan Simms dominated the game and became a 1st round pick and an NFL bust all off of one game.
Simms should be sending royalty checks to Noel for making him so much money.
sorry I didnt get to this post last night..i've gotten a little sick..but Jay thanks for the props man..truly honored...Ring of Fire is next though baby..this is my first year blogging how long has this HOTNESS been going on???
I am trying to get on this Wall of Fame list....Jeez i have been here quite often
FYI, dude's name in BTILC is Jack Burton, not Jack Dundee.
Carry on.
figured I'd been a guest long enough...
Congrats on the registration, wartiger.
atlantatiger, you're right. You're being added.
(The second list is a work in progress.)
Jay
That should be a pretty good game tonight. SYL QB is a freak athlete, and the Wood is solid everywhere.
everett...
Klein's first play from scrimmage in Knoxville in 98 was a classic moment in futility...followed up by the peace sign from Duval
ahhhh...memories
Nice.....Its going to be a HOT friday!
Thanks for the props Jay. I remember back in the day when you would do live blogging during the basketball games. Pure gold.
I'm humbled. "With great power comes great responsibility." I will continue do my best to uphold and preach the HABOTN to all the land.
Jay:
Do you use our IP addresses or just our names? I logged in as anonymous until a few weeks ago?
But, as Mark, I logged in last week, from Destin, Atlanta, work and home.
I'll keep plugging away and hopefully get to the warmth sometime.
Jay,
I'm all chocked up.... Before i accept this award, i would like to thank all the people the made me the HOTTIE that I am today....
My Mom....
My Dad....
hummmmmmm
(Silence....crickets.....i'm stumped)
oh "Joe the Plumber"
That's It!!!
Seriously, Jay we all enjoy this blog as a sort of "Blood Letting" for us normal guys that love Auburn.. Keep up th Good Work oh Mighty one of the BANHAMMERS!!!
Wow. Yet another indication that I am, in fact, old.
