Sunday HABOTN plan
Tuberville + Petrino = BFF
Hey everyone. Thanks to the HOTTIES who stayed up well past midnight to discuss Auburn and other things. We had quite a crowd. It was impressive.
Coach Tommy Tuberville talks with the media at 3 o'clock. I'll be there.
I'll twitter any major things he says in real time. I'll provide a synopsis when I'm reunited with my laptop afterward.
If there is interest in an afternoon campfire, we can do that.

campfire for sure. Jay, for tubby to survive all offensive coaches must go. Bring in a new oc and let him decide on position coaches. Things are not looking good for teflon tommy.
Campfire bout 6:30 sound good?

Its hard to believe that two of the most tenured coaches in Tuberville and Fulmor will be gone at the end of this year. Not surprising though, considering what some of the fresh faces in the SEC have done. Look at Meyer and Miles. Nobody thought they would have had the success that they have had. Maybe that type of aggressive coaching is what it take now. Tuberville has never had that "killer instinct".
would tubbs ever bury a team like florida did last night? hell no. we need a coach who will put a shoe on the throat and stomp. IMO. The bammies are already out in mobile. gonna be a long week and rest of year.
didnt see the game but was told everytime the o lineman were in the three point stance we ran and evertime we were in the 2 point stance we passed. no wonder our offense made their defense look stellar

I personally think it's crazy to even consider firing Tuberville. He's good at what he does and, yeah, bad years happen. Plus, is it really worth $6 million and another $4+ million to get another guy?
What if that guy does Tuberville-level work?
You going to buy him out and pay someone else even more?
Tuberville will not be Auburn's AD.
He'll take his money and go do something far less strenuous.
jay thanks for all the info. you are in aleague of your own.
Jay you said earlier in the week that if Tubs went 6-6 he was out period. 7-5, probably fired. 8-4 probably safe. Not goin back on your words are you?
tubs will be, i'm sure. has anyone explained why they stuck todd in at the end of the 1st half--right after burns had mustered a little drive for a field goal? imo, that was the worst call out of a bunch of bad ones. i'm not a burns pumper or a todd hater; just seemed to me a good time to see what burns had in him.
i meant to say "tubs will be back"
And as far as the money goes. Have you ever looked up at the jumbotron when they put all the donors names up there. They have the 500K donors and the 1mil plus donors. Thats a very long list. So, to say that Tubs is safe solely because AU cannot afford, or doesn't want to pay the buy is just crazy.
Tubs has proven that he is GOOD but not GREAT. He never will be great. Why is good always good enough for Auburn?
i think tt needs to stay. I have not finished recriuting yet. Aight.
Nick Saban
Sorry, gang. Shouldn't have posted that stupid list.
Auburn isn't going down the tubes either.
One bad year every 10 or so happens.
Just because we don't have the media mafia in the state to pump us up all the time doesn't mean Auburn isn't a great athletic program.
Butch Davis isn't happy at a Basketball school.
Spurrier said it best when he left Florida
"I'm tired of them and they are tired of me"
Same rules apply here. It would be best for both parties that a split occur.
Mr. Tate,
Do you think Coach Tuberville will stay with the spread next year? Of do you see Auburn going to a more traditional offense?
Thank you for taking time to answer.
Jay:
You may be right about the craziness in firing Tubbs, but after 10 years plenty of talent and a very favorable home schedule, a $3million coach shouldn't lose games to Vandy and an Arkansas team that is rebuilding.
Butch Davis = Tommy Tubberville Part Deaux. Really bad, bad idea.
If you want somebody with some zeal and spunk? Chris Peterson.
AU a great athletic program. What are you talking about Mr Sensible? Have you checked out the baseball and the basketball programs the last few years. You must be referring to the swimming program.
Basketball will be fine once the new arena is built.
That'll get the top-flight recruits.
AU baseball made great strides in the new coaching staff.
Swimming/Diving are rock solid. See the Olympics for further reading.
Volleyball, Tennis, Softball, Track & Field are respectable enough.
Did I miss anything?
You missed it totally on baseball and basketball.
is raymond cotton still committed?
the feature article on auburnsports.com right now is on Cotton. to paraphrase, he said he is STILL COMMITTED. IT IS A SOLID COMMITMENT. of course, i'm assuming Jeff Lee wrote that before last nite. Franklin was the one who offered Cotton the scholarship.
they jumped texas ahead of bama in the polls. auburn isn't even in the list of others receiving votes.
"Not goin back on your words are you?"
My opinion is separate from what Auburn chooses to do.
One point on recruiting:
Where are these kids going to go? There isn't a huge market for 5-foot-7 athletes.
Also (three in a row) ...
Teleconference has been delayed a tad. Allegedly will begin around 3:15 p.m.
Mr. Sensible,
With all due respect, it ALL about Football for a SEC athletic department (san UK) Biggest mistake was hiring Jay Jacobs. I am scared to see where he will go for a new coach. He will surely ask Pat Dye for advice who will tell him either Neil Callaway (in the family) or Tony Franklin, since he likes the spread so much. ;)
I Totally agree with you Jay. It would be very naive to fire CTT considering the financial costs. Is there even a high enough profile coach on the horizon that AU could even get a small return on that kind of investment??
I have to disagree with you about the 5'7" recruits Jay. Did you forget that we just had a 5'7" guy hand our defense their rear ends?? Southern Cal had one end their quest for an undefeated season this year as well. I aint saying we need to need to fill our roster with em, but they have made their presence felt this season.
Mr. Sensible you forgot about our Equestrian team. They are National champs!
Guys, it sounds like Trotter is a real possibility.
A lot can change, of course, but I heard a completely different tone out of Tuberville today ...
Of course it was a different tone, Tubs' butt is in a sling now, he is probably willing to do just about anything...
Mr. Tate,
That is certainly good news to hear.
I have often been critical of Coach Tuberville for what I call a lack of "fire and sense of urgency." Perhaps last nights game has reinvigorated the coach and the Assistant coaches as well. I cannot imagine Coach Rhodes was pleased with the outcome either.
what does that mean
A different tone? Different how? Don't go cryptic on us now!
Seriously, why burn his redshirt now?
Burning Trotter's redshirt now would be a mistake. Nothing major can be made of this season now. They shouldn't make the same mistake that they did with Kodi last year.
Tuberville clearly is more willing now to consider Trotter as a legitimate possibility at QB.
You'll all be relieved to know I've chosen Brian Kelly as our next HC.
I'll be selling lighter fluid and matches pre-game at WVU as a fund raiser.
That $6 million isn't going to raise itself you know.
they will burn it. if there is a mistake to be made this year, they will make it>
just so you remember we were picked to win the west
just so you know, i will start referring to ctt, as bill curry, decent coach that has no consistency
ben tate said at the beginning of the year that he did not care who was qb as long as we won the NC.
I would love to know his thoughts today
Mark,
So Auburn was overrated this season. It doesn't happen often. I supposed we, the fans, should be flattered it happened at all.
I don't think we were. I think CTT and staff screwed it up. we have not fallen that far that fast.

We were overrated this season. Add that to 2003 and 2006. That would be 3 of the last 6 years we were picked to win the west and fell flat on our faces (we were actually picked the win the SEC in '03 and '06).
2004 was a long time ago people. We have underachieved more than overachieved under Tuberville.
If anybody thinks next year will different you're kidding yourselves. At UT, at LSU, at UGA, at Ark and Bama at home. I see at least 4 losses there.
