I propose our suck rating be tied to the likelihood of Tuberville getting fired. According to Jay, we are at 75% suck at the moment, down from 90% previously. I say if it ever gets above 90%, we sell.

10:30 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Steve- According to Jay, the 75% is likely to decrease. You might want to sell before it tanks. That seems to be the rule of the markets lately. But I am buying when it goes lower. I see big money in my future.

Thanks, Phred. I wish I knew what I did to begin with.

Well, gang, I will see you all in the morning.

Keep it real...

Didn't Arkansas run off 10 wins in a row including a destruction of us on the way to the SEC title game under Malzhan?

I remember Nutt pulled the offense away and benched Mustain even though they were winning games, and that's why Malzhan left.

10:31 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Good night Mr. S. I probably should go to bed, but too scared now since i'm watching the history channel.

Blogger Chris in Inverness said...

Any of you guys ever watched Paranormal State?

What's the sotry behind that show? Something to do with Penn St? Is it real or a TV show or a bit of both? I got wrapped up in one last night and go the heeby geebies.

10:32 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

RK- Your correct. When he left, it was the part of the undoing of Nutt at Arkansas.

10:33 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Chris- Watch Ghost Hunters on Sci Fi. That is a good show.

10:34 PM
Blogger Chris in Inverness said...

Malzan was part of a big flap where he was hired to get three HS players to come.

I'll be honest, I'll have to read up to know all about it but I do rememeber the circus when the mommies and daddies started calling the head coach.,

10:35 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Well if we brought him in, at least we won't be promising all of his HS kids that they will be playing as freshmen...or maybe we can get Mustain to transfer again.

10:36 PM
Blogger ADP said...

I probably shouldn't post this, but since we are over here in no mans land, I can't resist.

If this were a gameday game, my sign would say ... War Eagle - Bust a Nutt.

10:37 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Would Malzhan come to Auburn? A first thought would be yes, but if there are other big time programs out there looking for an OC, he could find something more stable. An OC has to look at Tuberville's record with coordinators.

10:37 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

RK- I'd rather that WR transfer from USC. The name is alluding me, but he is their big playmaker and he was part of that Arkansas mess.

10:37 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Yeah, but an OC also has to look at it, if he comes in and turns things around it could make his name right away.

Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Agreed Steve. Tubs record is bound to scare off some OC's.

My game day sign would read- Show some Mox Tubs, climb in the Pine Box. Sorry guys, couldn't help the irony their. I don't want that. Just thought it would be funny.

10:40 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Oh, there are a lot of officials at Ole Miss would would love to drive one more nail into the pine box this weekend.

10:41 PM
Blogger WRB3 said...

Nice Phred, very nice.

10:41 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

If I were a rising OC with a lot of prospects, I would insist Tuberville give me some guarantees, like a huge buyout. To me, that would be a hard sell for Tuberville because we are already paying two coordinators. We might shell out of ton of cache for a proven OC at a high profile program, but not for one from Tulsa. That is purely my opinion, but the cost of coordinators is piling up.

10:42 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

It would be ironic if Ole Miss and Nutt are the ones that are the final nail in the pine box.

10:43 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

I bet we could have gotten a good OC for $600,000 a year.

10:43 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Very Ironic Steve. Nutt always has Tubs number i5 seems.

10:44 PM
Blogger WRB3 said...

Good thing officials don't play the game.

I hate losing to Mississippi teams. That just sucks. We're 2-0 against em this year so far. Better be 3-0 come saturday.

When you live in AL all your life, Miss. is the only thing you get to look down on.

I don't believe in Santa, psychics, ghosts, or a good OC coming to Auburn. Maybe it is just me, but we shall see.

10:47 PM
Blogger Chris in Inverness said...

So, the show's for real and the re-enact them or its actual footage?

10:48 PM
Blogger WRB3 said...

We had a good OC (just not the right good OC), and I believe we'll get another good one. Hopefully this time the right one.

10:50 PM

Steve - you're getting more and more cynical as the days pass! I don't like it.

chris - it's a mix of both

Personally, I think a good coach for Auburn would be John Gruden. He does wonders with Tampa Bay's talent and gets fired up without going Hulk Smash Muschamp style. However, I don't know if he would "technically" want to take a step down to coach college and I am not sure Auburn University is willing to sell half of Lee County to China in order to pay his salary.

Blogger eaglesteeler said...

The reason some of the players didn't buy into the offense was because some of their position coaches didn't either.

CTT has to tell some of his staff to hit the road. Our offense has gotten worse over the last 3 yrs and the only constant are the position coaches. CTT, if he WANTS to still coach at AU will make those changes before he brings in a new OC.

11:01 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Let the new OC make the changes he wants. I just want Tuberville to give the OC the authority to make the changes he needs to make. I am not sure if Tuberville is willing to do that.

11:02 PM
Blogger Monica said...

I think you're doing a great job, Steve. You're a good sport.

I'm out. Sweet dreams, hotties.

11:09 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Goodnight all.

11:11 PM
Blogger eaglesteeler said...

If CTT is not ready to get out of coaching, then he will be the one to have to tell some of his long time assistants to go. If he wants to finish at AU, then he will do it. As friends, no one else should call those shots except CTT, especially not a new OC. But CTT will do it, to allow a new OC to bring in some new blood.

All, Good read by Scarbinsky. The Birmingham News got an interview with Spina and he supports Tubs but basically is mandating staff changes.

Spina Support of Tubs

I have a feeling this is why Jay is dropping his 75% Tubs Watch.

Good read, Eddie.

Question for All:

How can Auburn attract an OC who wants to "make a name" for himself if all the players & coaches (based on their attitudes and actions) want is someone to pound the ball and sit on leads?

Just curious. Off to my morning staff meeting...

7:48 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

That's a good article.

I'd like to see Tub be the guy who turns it around, because I personally like the guy...but right now my confidence is low that he can pull it off and get us to the next level.

8:02 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

I believe most people feel like you do RK. I believe that is why most people are on the fence, but swaying towards Tubs.

Eddie,

That's what makes it tough. He's a good guy, and I believe he is good for Auburn in a lot of different ways. I want to believe he can get us to a consistant top 10 program, but I've seen too much in 10 years that makes me unsure that he can do that on a year to year basis.

Eddie: Could that be the dreaded vote of confidence?

8:17 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Yeah, is this the Tub vote of confidence for Franklin right before the fall?

8:18 AM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

As for my 75% falling ... this is what I'm talking about. Spina isn't alone. He's also dismetrically opposed to some people as well.

8:20 AM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

diametrically.

Wow, I used to log in in the AM and take about 5 minutes to catch of on the posts I missed from the previous night.

This AM it took me over 20 minutes!

8:21 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

So when will Jay hold his press conference to lower the Tub-Terror watch?

Maybe instead of %'s you need to color code it.

8:21 AM
Blogger JD said...

Jay G. Tate said...
I don't consider a loss to Ole Miss fatal.

I have talked with two people now, people I consider important, who foresee Tuberville getting another season to fix the offensive quagmire.

So I may soon be dropping that 75% figure. The rage I heard two or three weeks ago seems to have cooled ... at least to some degree.
---------------------------------

Jay G have you heard anything about some fighting amongst some of the (cough, cough) higher ups on the future of the Football program and Tuberville? Could that be the reason that one day we feel like we're going to make a change and then the next it appears that we are not? There is some absolute confusion going on with in the program that is for sure.

8:23 AM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

There are some different schools of thinking on this issue.

I'm hearing more people preaching patience, but that is not the Auburn way (when it comes to football) and I refuse to let a little rhetoric dissuade my gut feeling.

Hey, I'm trying to learn what Franklin taught me!

(New post coming soon.)

8:29 AM
Blogger Just Win AU said...

So Jay you think even if AU drops 3 of the next 4 Tubs is still safe?

8:47 AM
Blogger Dear Leader said...

this will all be worth it if the BBQ buddys are gone next year.

8:48 AM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

I'm playing that by ear, just win.

8:52 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Jay- You were right last night about Spina. I'm glad to see him in the Tubs camp. I just don't why Gouge won't come out and make a positive statement that he is going to be the coach, but I guess that means he has to make staff changes for that to happen.

8:53 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

"Don't See Why"- My Bad.

8:54 AM
Blogger Just Win AU said...

Will he make those changes, that's the question?
