Chizik now making the rounds
Chizik touched down around 6 p.m. to a crowd of approximately 200 fans. I couldn't find a single person there with an anti-Chizik or anti-Jacobs agenda. It was a love-in.
Chizik spoke briefly with reporters, where he said this:

Chizik spoke briefly with reporters, where he said this:
First off all, I'm very, very overwhelmed. I'm back home. What can I say, I'm back home.He then addressed the throng of supporters gathered just off the tarmac. I couldn't hear anything he was saying, but a fan holding a sign reading "Welcome Home" conveyed the feeling I sensed there.
I feel very blessed; my family, myself. This is a dream come true for us.
This is going to be brief but I want to tell you this, these people of Auburn University and the Auburn family is what I got into coaching for. And I left it with the dream one day to come back to it. And today I'm living that dream. I want to thank you guys.
War Eagle.
ANTARRIOUS WILLIAMS SPEAKS (linebacker for Chizik, 2002-04):
I think we got the right guy. All along, we interviewed 6, 7, 8 guys -- I don't know -- before we hired Chizik. I said: Where is Gene Chizik? Where is Gene Chizik? He was my No. 1 choice before they even mentioned him. I think Jay Jacobs got this right on the head. A lot of people are underestimating Gene Chizik's coaching ability and motivating players and players buying into the system, which is the key right now.
That's why Alabama's successful -- players are buying into Nick Saban's system. It's not that what they're doing is so great. It's that players believe what he's saying. Players will buy into Gene Chizik.

The decision was made, now the only thing left to do is beat the hell out of everyone we play and for all us to do what we can to do what can to support our new coach.
Well at least no one embarassed themselves. Way to go Auburn Family.
Typical anti-auburn bias. Who you gonna believe, Jay G or something named Yahoo.
Great post.
WAR DAMN EAGLE!
Jay G-
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That post is from Saturday.
I would like to believe Yahoo about the Reggie Bush case, but maybe I shouldn't now.
Sounds like things started off positive. We shall have to see how well Chizik handles the media, which is something else a good HC does. As an example, see any Tony Franklin interview. If he sounds like Franklin, he ain't it.
Love all y'all Auburn fans; wee bit of love for Fake Steve; I'm back to the grind and will check in at midnight. WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!
i wish coach chizik luck and hope this works out well for the au family. here here denny crum.
Ask Eddie, when Chizek speaks about Auburn as being his dream job, he's speaking the truth. Eddie has heard first hand accounts.
People have mentioned that Chizik may be a puppet, but from what I remember of him at Auburn, he seemed rather assertive, like Muschamp.
Ryon, I knocked that off because you're making my account look in accurate. The footage you linked was from Saturday.
We already have that linked in earlier threads.
JGT, I was not disputing your account. Just saying what was being put out there. I trust and admire your work very much
Jay-G
After missing the blog all weekend I was surprised to see that you had 10,000 views. Unreal!!
Glad no one acted like an idiot. Chizik deserves out full support and enthusiasm.
Make no mistake, this is Chizik's dream job. No lie in that statement. I heard that long before he ever became a head coach. I just hope that amounts to wins and good recruiting.
Kristina:
No one embarrassed themselves because *someone* must have passed out....
We were way over 10k!
regarding AU being his dream job - that is curious considering his departure just prior to signing day in 05, taking a $40k pay cut to be a co-coordinator in Austin
(not saying it isn't true, just did not think he would be back after leaving then)
I hope this is his dream job. That would tend to make a guy work a little harder because he wants to be here instead of just to get the paycheck!!!
This is going to be a very long offseason....ready to kickoff again already!!!
Antarrious has a point. What he said is one of the many reasons why Tony Franklin failed here. No one believed in him or his system.
dnatl- There was a Tuberville / Chizik rift, that is why he left. HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH AUBURN. By the way, those dream job statements came after his BCS Championship game with Texas.
Goldberg has some video up....
AUant, that is one of the pluses I see with Chizik. He seems to have really liked Auburn. I really didn't fault him for doing the Texas thing. I neve fault a coach for doing what they think is best for their career. I judge them based upon what they do at Auburn. Chizik was very popular when he was here before. Many may have dropped off the bandwagon, but so far I have a pretty good feeling about this.
I went for pictures rather than video ... thinking the flash would be more useful in the dark.
I guess that was a poor decision.
thanks scott
I like Antarrious Williams comments about a Chizik's "coaching ability and motivating players and players buying into the system". That is exactly what I think Franklin lacked.
Anyone know exactly what type of offense he ran at Iowa State???
hey is anyone lookins at 60 minutes special on Pete Carroll..... remember he was a coach with a loosing record when USC took a chance when he took over USC and the fans had the same reaction as some of us are having.... hey CGC is our coach let's go get'em and play football....
Jay,
dont worry, you are still my first love....pics are solid
AUant- My brother, Michael4AU was at an Iowa State game this year, and he said he ran a spread hybrid offense at Iowas State. A lot of running from the shotgun.
I personally believe we will be going back to power football.
I saw that AUnMobile. Pete Carroll is a good guy, I had no clue he did all that.
Get back on the plane and start recruiting.... the honeymoon is over.
At least nobody had to explain to him what "WAR EAGLE" means and how to use it. I know, I know. I'm being a sunshine pumper. :-)
Side note: Faith Hill singing Joan Jett for Sunday night football? Wouldn't Joan Jett have been a little more fitting? Faith looked very uncomfortable or something or sedated?
Just don't start tomorrow on the recruiting front.
Eddie or Michael,
sere either of you there for CTT's first spring practice as coach?
I didn't realize Muschamp's salary will jump to $2.5 Million in 2010 whether he is the head coach at Texas or not. That is one sweet deal.
I was about to post the same observation AUnMobile. I think that was a rerun of that story, ironic they did it tonight.
Apparently Gill bombed on an answer to a question in the interview. Scarbinsky said he was asked "If Nebraska didn't hire its own former star quarterback and assistant coach last year, why should Auburn choose him now"?
This article is excellent.
Scott- I was there, Michael was not. It was the most intense Spring that I had ever seen. Tuberville inherited a mess and did a good job running off all the bad apples. I don't believe that will be the case this time around. I don't believe our program is in nearly the shape it was then.
Eddie, I agree. I was ashamed of the state of the Auburn program when Tuberville took over. In my opinion it was worse than when Dye took over from Barfield, and I don't think it was even close. The Bowden era ended with the program in such a slump that I feared we would be on the MSU/Ole Miss level for many years.
Eddie,
You must be able to read minds cause that was my question...I was a student there and when I would leave the student act after working out and hang outside the fence for a while and listen to practice (since that entire spring was closed) like you said it was very brutal and the coaches were very hungry and motivated ...that initial spring camp was one of the reasons we were successful under CTT.....It will be interesting what CGC does come spring
I had an email alert that Chizik hired staff, who did he hire? I saw something about Gardner?
I also just saw that Hoke took the SD State job?
SteveFC, that article states that apparently money was an issue in this hiring process. Didn't Jacobs say that money would not be an issue?
Chizik is bringing some assistants from Iowa State. Jeff Koonz, Jay Boulware, Mike Pelton.
not sure how much stock I would put in a scarbinsky article - he's no jay g tate
Money is no object, as long as they are willing to take $2 Million and less.
To his credit, Gene has said all the right things.
So with this hire, does this mean all the children will come home to be on the staff?
That article didn't say Gill bombed on the answer! It said they didn't get an answer to the question. It doesn't even say Gill was the person to whom the question was addressed. Scarbinsky leaves the race question hanging out there just like most of the others I have read.
Steve: Unconfirmed reports suggest ...
RK- Can anybody blame Chizik? I can't and you know how thrilled I am with this hire. Chizik simply did what he has always wanted to do since leaving Auburn. I am happy on that accord, but at the same time, I am very upset with the whole "process" and those involved in it. I was way more harsher yesterday, but i'm trying to be a little more positive today.
Scarbinsky writes as if Fbaum is his only audience. He's smarmy.
Well I missed all the fun this weekend, but I'm glad I was in Asheville watching endless hours of great music instead. (No offense to the Hotties)
That being said, Gene isn't my choice, but he's the coach now and he does have my support and hopefully it's a long successful run.
Jay, who was on the plane with CGC?
Steve, Gill not getting the job had nothing to do with whether he would leave for Nebraska. Based on past experiences it's just as likely Chizik would bolt for Texas if given the chance.
It was reported Bobby Lowder didn't want Gill, and he gets what he wants.
This comment has been removed by the author.
RK - Was this your Warren Haynes weekend?
What article is it everyone's talking about?
Steve, I read Scarbinski. I can't believe AU asked Gill why Nebraska didn't hire Gill last year and maybe Gill was stupefied that AU did.
I can answer the question: Nebraska didn't hire Gill last year b/c last year Gill only had 2 HC years experience and had yet to fully prove himself by turning the team around.
If AU asked the question?...AU failed.
Monica,
That was it.
I'm feeling my age today. The Friday and Saturday night shows both ended after 4 in the morning after starting at 7 PM
Eddie4AU said...
Steve- You need to change your name from Steve FC to Steve SSP'er. It's got a ring to it :).
Seriously, what question did they ask Chizik that he did so well on...."So now that you have lost 10 in a row at Iowa State, do you think you can continue the streak at Auburn?"
WOW! Sounds like you had a great time though. I'm way jealous. It's worth the extra recovery time.
RK,
you were at Chirstmas Jam? so was I....we should have hooked up
Scott,
I wish I had known. Me and my wife were there both nights.
Eddie...my guess is that you are angry like me b/c we see those same ol' hidden forces in effect.
Chris
http://blog.al.com/kevin-scarbinsky/2008/12/gene_chizik_as_head_football_c.html
Eddie...We got most our anger out yesterday. I imagine that's tuff to do while with the family in Mickey's world.
Scott,
How tired are you after a long weekend in Asheville?
I know I'm feeling it today.
Sorry gang, I am still not drinking the kool aid.
I am STILL p.o.'d that we weren't welcoming Turner Gill today!
Ahhh Scarbinsky.
He wants to be Finebaum so badly.
Guys, he's a basketball guy. Pay little to no attention to him.
He's very rarely on the radio and even then, noone in B'ham pays him much attention.
Agreed Hoopie, it's the coach, its the one's picking the coach.
Also, Dye may be beloved by many, but don't count me as one. The guy was a cheater and things were way worse than everybody ever knew. Oh the stories I have heard from those that were there to witness it. I like winning, but cheating is not fair and I condemn it. I only mention this because this hire has DYE written all over it.
RK,
I am beat esp after the drive back.....Its my fifth year in a row and can still not get used to it..this year was the latest i have ever seen them go
SHould read "it's not the coach".
Sorry, typing while riding is not as easy as it sounds.
Scarbinski says Pat Dye was very influential in this decision. Hope the Wild Turkey hasn't affected his football knowledge.
Eddie,
I went to Pat Dye's Football camp when he was there and that collection of coaches scared me
We left right at the encores each night just to get out ahead of the crowd. However it was an awesome night.
However, not saying 32 is old, but I'm feeling every one of those years after the trip back to Chattanooga.
That being said, I think we'll be back again. The only parts I didn't really enjoy were Coheed & Cambria (mainly because they just didn't fit with the artists there) and Travis Tritt isn't among my favorites.
However both nights were great.
Were you down on the floor or up in the seats?
Scott- They should. They are old school, which is nothing bad, but just not the "now" thing. They could be pretty darn intimdidating from what I heard, especially Kurt Crane and Wayne Hall.
Oh my gosh. I just watched the video on al.com.
Did we just hire Ed Orgeron?
Eddie, There is a Scarbinski article and a Sporting News article that you may not have seen. I don't know if you should go ahead and look now or calm down first. Those 2 articles rekindled my issues today. Maybe ignore those articles...its just reading what you already know..
I'm having a nice glass of Red -Vicks NyQuil so I'll see y'all tomorrow.
War Eagle
Rk,
Seats every year...right side if you are looking at the stage....we always have to stay to the end b/c my wife is a music freak but we always stay at the renissance and just walk over....i enjoy it as well but all the smoke gets to me and by 1 o'clock there are some VERY wasted people in there...great time though in a great city
Great.
We've got one poster left over from the whine crowd.
Eddie,
My leader was Bud Casey.....priceless
Hoopie- I haven't read them. I'm just now coming home from Disney World, the happiest place on earth (EXCEPT WHEN YOUR SCHOOL HIRES GENE CHIZIK). Yeah, I can pretty much guess what is being said.
Sounds like fun Scott. Did you take him to church with you?
See you guys in the am. Just now arriving home and need to unpack. Lots more to discuss tomorrow. Can't wait.
Scott,
The smoke is insane there. We actually stood in the entrance way facing the stage toward the end of both nights because the smoke was driving me crazy.
I had a guy fall down and clip the back of my leg the 1st night. It was the 1st of 4 times that he fell down before I asked someone working there to get him medical attention.
Next year I'm going to have to plan out where we stay a lot better. We stayed at the Holiday Inn past the tunnel, which was far too far away to walk especially as cold as it was Friday night, so we had to drive in each night. I'll have a better plan next year.
I'll have to check out the Renissance.
Mon...I hope that you aren't getting the Flu that I fought all week.
I sing in the choir at church and couldn't sing in the Cantata tonight, b/c of that flu. I went, I cried..awesome.
All I know is when he picked up our group we rode in the back of his truck and there was always a full iced down cooler of adult beverages
Watched the video - obviously a rent-a-crowd.
Jay, I hope there are some serious questions on Monday about his inability to win at ISU and why he thinks it'll be different here. I also want to know from Jacobs and Gogue why they would hire the only candidate for this job that has been unsuccessful as a HC and how they believe this hire will be perceived by recruits when everyone knows Turner Gill's record - and Patterson's, Grobe's, Graham's and everyone else's - is much better. But, yet, they still hire the lesser qualified candidate.
Don't let them give you some poppycock answer. We, the AU Nation, deserve straight answers.
"Tell Auburn to fear both of Saban's thumbs."
Tell Kevin ScarBAMAinskyu to stick his thumbs where the sun don't shine.
I don't need the Bammerham News Fish Wrapper hack losers can't make it in the real world sports columnist to tell me what he thinks of the AU program.
Suck it KEV!
Sounds good RK,
Good luck at work tomorrow
Saw the same video as Brad, Not obviously a 'rent a crowd' the cynicism is no longer appreciated.
Denny - Keep drinking the kool-aid. This isn't cynicism. It's reality.
Same to you Scott.
Thankfully I only have 7 work days left this year.
Does that fact that prior to Saturday Gene Chizik was rated as the #3 coach on coachinghotseat.com transfer to his new position at Auburn?
It looks to me that this is taking the Alabama program post-Curry with Stallings and the gang and trying to make it fit in 2009.
Find a coach who wants to be there that no one else is trying to hire. A coach that is probably better than his record indicates, and a person who buys into the plan.
The plan is to gather the chicks back to the nest (ex coaches and players) and unleash a thousand hells upon all.
It worked well for Alabama until it was too arrogant for its own good. Alabama would have kept rolling except that it wouldn't throw Antonio Langham under the bus for three games -- the standard suspension for signing with an agent. It fought the law, and ultimately the law won.
If Alabama had just deigned to scrape and bow a little, it would have never gone through what it did for the past 15 years.
So, let's see what we're made of.
Has he named any coaches for the offense yet?
Oh yes, I am kool aid drinker. First I support CTT, kool aid drinker. Now I support the next Auburn coach, kool aid drinker. I support Auburn. Brad and his ilk will never be satisfied with anyone or anything.
does anyone think that Borges will get a shot at interviewing for the OC job?
Isnt Borges still on the payroll?
I think Big Al comes off the payroll at the end of the school year.
any ideas for an OC?
just heard that Pat Nix. Anyone else?
Pat Nix? Taking Stan White's job, right?
is Pat Dye still calling shots at Auburn? Seems like we shouldn't be taking advice from the man who is responsible for Auburn's last probation.
finebaum is going to have a field day with this.
Chris,
You can count me as a leftover from the whine crowd. It's a day and a half later and it still stinks. Yeah, I'm mad, and I have a right to be mad.
I have been an Auburn man my whole life, just like the two generations before me. My kids are too.
I was a kid through the 70's - age 7 to 17. I sat there in Cliff Hare stadium every Saturday in the Fall. I stood beside the old concrete podium on the sidelines with all my other buddies the day they renamed the stadium Jordan-Hare. I lived through the Barfield years and it sucked. I was an Auburn student during the early Dye years. I rolled Toomers Corner as a student the day Bo won the Heisman.
I have lived through the bad and I have lived through the good. I don't EVER want to live through the 70's again.
I have worked hard for the betterment of Auburn and I expect our administration to do the same. I feel I have earned the right to have an opinion on this hire.
Chizik may be fantastic. I hope he is. But I emphatically contend that this was an unimaginitive inexplicable hire. This man they hired FAILED miserably as a head coach. They had the opportunity to make a statement and inject excitement into the Auburn family. They had an opportunity to do something special.
Instead they were cowards.
Aubie,
i agree. this guy could go undefeated next season and still be under .500.
You have got to be kidding me. I don't know what you were watching when the plane landed. I saw a bunch of pissed off Auburn fans, who know how bad this is going to turn out. On the other hand, I guess we should feel lucky to have any coach at all. Memo to Bobby... stupid moves like this is why your bank is in the dumps right now. Jacobs, if this is the best you can do then the football program is going down with the rest of the athletic programs you have screwed up.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Aubie ...
We are peers ... our experience sounds the same.
I, too, am still in a state of shock.
I am doing my best to give the guy a shot. I know what he did in his career prior to the last two years. And I know what he did the last two.
The question is which experience is the most pertinent to the situation at Auburn?
It's easily argued either way.
The only statement I'm wanting from Auburn is a commitment to championship football. If this works, they'll look brilliant.
Right now, it looks like that's a long, long shot.
But I'm not giving up yet.
War Eagle.
so
many
words......
so
little
interest......
I got to about "Auburn man..."
Chris ... sign up for ACT immediately.
My son, Turbo Prop, a 2009 academic commitment, who committed to Auburn when he was 4, is hinting the he's opening back up his college recruitment. Tulane is also on his list.
I don't like the idea of him going to New Orleans.
I love how on the Rivals board there's one that says "Roll Call for those pulling out of TUF"....
That'll help.
I know that most on here either solely look at this site or look at this and auundercover. I actually look at this rivals and scout. (HABOTN IS HEAD AND SHOULDER BETTER THAN THE REST). There is this guy on scout named AUPMBA who thinks he is an insider. That guy really gets on my last nerver with that crap! I just had to say it. I've said it on that board but they just hated on me. Sorry, but again I just had to say it.
Seriously, is that some kind of sign?
I mean, I opened the box, surfed the web for about 15 minutes and poof, she had it together.
A Disney Pricness thingy-ma-bob.
I was hoping she had put together a puzzle of Muschamp.
What was he saying JD?
Hell, go to other boards that discuss other things, its all funny.
Chris,
Have your genius kid read it and explain it to you.
Anybody know what kind of friendship Chizik had with Chette Williams while he was at Auburn? I sure hope that he will keep Chette around.
I'm thinking Monica's plan with the NyQuil is sounding good about now ... and I don't have a cold.
Anyone else?
I don't see Chette leaving until the Lord calls him home.
As far as DC's are concerned -- Muschamp or Chizik?
To be honest, Gizik got lots of miles out of players who aren't tearing up the league.
Smallish LBs and guys named Junior.
I can remember Muschy looking good at times but then UGA came to town with somehting on the line in the AM on Jfeererson Pilot.
Then BOOM!
Jet - You stink!! Now I can't scroll quicly through to see where I left off.
Actually I think I can.
Eh, Chris the guy just got on my nerves last week with his "inside" relationship with Muschump. Today he claimed that anyone who read his early posts should have known that Chizik was a top priority candidate. I seriously read 90% of his bull and he never said Chizik's name until late last week. It's just annoying how people on scout idolize him like a God and he really is an average joe with an undiagnosed case of schizophrenia.
Chizik's D was stout. Everyone talks about UGA in re Muschamp, but Big Al's offense was an equal partner in the train wreck in 2006.
Sorry, 04 ... I've been gone for 3 days ... limited yapping ... drinking coffee, etc.
Can anyone explain why we would go out and hire a loser like Chizik? Aren't we supposed to upgrade when we make a change? Jacobs is an idiot.
big cat, your comment is kind of bizarre because Chizik has been anything but a loser. You might want to concern yourself with whatever team you pull for. Chizik will be just fine.
JD,
Just stay away from those sites. I used to hit them, but there is a lot of hate and intolerance. Addtionally, for Auburn fans, they are a self-destructive lot over there. They are like Anti-auburn fans. Withdrawing from the TUF or GAF is not what people need to do unless they want no program. I can hear them now, 'we are real fans, we bitch about everything and cause dissension, anyone that says good things are kool aid drinkers."
That my friend is why I say right here. I hit some other blogs, but Jay G keeps it real and ACCURATE.
Denny ... there's a reason you're a Hall of Fame basketball coach. You're a wise man ... we disagree from time to time, but I never doubt your wisdom and judgment.
I'm out, kids.
Steve FC, no offense but where I come from 5-19 is a loser. The last time I checked Chizik's record was 5-19. HMMMMM.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Damnit, I said forget me not. I'm back. I was headed up to ISU to fix their crappy offense. But, as luck has it, I'm back in orange and blue.
Tom Cruise is my spokesman.
Don't know if someone has already answered your question. But Chette got along well with CGC . Chette will stay FWIW
I got an email alert from AU Undercover and it said CGC makes first hires....I guess its holdovers?
big cat, you quote 2 seasons of Iowa State's record. Chizik has been coaching much longer than that. Childish name calling isn't beneficial. Go to a sight of whatever team you pull for. This is a place for Auburn fans and we don't get into name calling here.
Some guys from ISU, apparently.
I haven't confirmed that.
In fact, one of those guys said the alleged appointment was news to him.
That's great news on Chette.
What about Coach Yox?
And yes, if you don't support your program at ALL TIMES, well, that's ummmmm, not needed at ANY TIME.
Chris, the hires weren't holdovers from CTT's staff. They are from Arizona State. Two of them are connected with Auburn. I will try to find the names.
No, Chris. Only Willis and maybe Lolley. No other holdovers.
Mike Pelton is one I believe.
Mike Pelton, former AU player is DL coach. Willis is LB coach. Koonz is back to coach DBs. He coached DBs from '02 to '04 in Auburn. He coached DBs at TX in '05 and '06. Searles is most likely the OL coach. Borges most likely OC.
how about DC? Sure Chizik won't try to pull double-duty...
A dude name Bouleware is RBs and Special Teams. He's famous from developing The Burner Turner who now scampers in the NFL.
Jay, that is very interesting. It could be that the sources aren't right on the coaching appointments.
The names mentioned are Jeff Koonz, Jay Boulware, and Mike Pelton.
Jeff is interesting because he is an Auburn guy who following Chizik to Texas and then on to Iowa State. Jeff coaches the dbs.
Pelton you are probably familiar with. He coached the defensive line at Iowa State.
Boulware is a coach that came to Iowa State from Texas and is suppose to be a good runningbacks coach.
As Jay mentioned, this information hasn't been confirmed.
What no members of the BBQ Bunch? We are screwed for sure!
Steve,
Its not that Chizik is a loser as some want to say to generalize the sit. But he is NOT a winning HC so far.
That sticks out like a sore thumb. But I will watch and see how he hires, handles team problems, recruits, and manages games in the SEC.
Then we will most certainly evaluate him further.
That's FIRM info on all but Garner and Searles.
I have no problem with CTT's BBQ gang getting out.
There needs to be loyalty to CGC PERIOD.
I've seen some great names with AU ties.
Joe Whitt Jr. is in Green Bay at the moment. Didn't he attened AU?
I typed Arizona State earlier. Substitute Iowa State:) Had something different on my mind.
Borges was packing his bags for ISU. Sudden change of plans...
I have accepted the post of Love Coordinator. My salary will be 1.2 mil.
I was kidding with the BBQ....
Yea, I wasn't really questioning PMarsh's information. I just think it's impossible for me to confirm when one of these guys said he didn't know he'd been hired.
Can you believe Garner only makes $250K at UGA? Doesn't that seem skimply based on his body of work as a recruiter?
Steve, I've been an Auburn fan for close to forty years now. I attend most if not all home games. I still love my school, but, I know this was not the best hire for Auburn. Maybe time will prove me wrong. are you able to attend many games from up there in S.C. ?
I remember Mike Pelton. We were on the Plains about the same time. dont remember him much from the field, just partys and hanging around campus. Glad he's back
Seems like there are quite a few large felines around here.
Denny - Call me and my "ilk" what you want, but the reality is that we're about to face some very difficult days ahead and this was an unforced error on Jacobs', Gogue's, Lowder's and Dye's part. And where it will hurt most is in recruiting. That's not being dissatisfied, that's looking ahead and clearly seeing what's coming down the road.
Tell me - how will Chizik be able to go into a young black kid's home and overcome his mindset that a more qualified black coach - and a lot of white coaches - were past over for this coach? It will be very, very difficult, if not impossible. Our recruits will be inferrior to UA's, UF's, UGA's, UT's and others for at least this year and probably next - if not longer.
That's the problem, plain and simple, and it was a problem we did not have to have.
I think I, and most of the other Auburn fans like me, do not want to be enablers to Jacobs and his friends. We love AU, and its finally time for AU to get into rehab. It's like a drug addict, you can continue to support his habit, or you can help him go cold turkey. Our voices of opposition are intended to force change where this Athletic Department can finally succeed and not continue to be our own worst enemy.
