Saban weighs in

Nick Saban from his press conference earlier:
"I really question some of the judgment relative to how it is for our game that people who have those kinds of relationships and have done that kind of job and affected so many people in a positive way and have had a reasonable amount of success relative to their circumstances, would not be given more respect and consideration that what these guys have been. So I guess we're 5-7 away from the same thing."

You're exactly right, Coach. You're 5-7 away from it yourself.

I agree with Saban. Those that heard it said that he sounded genuinely ticked about Tuberville's ouster.

Saban is going to be just fine. Thanks for your concern Mon.. :-)

Saban, yes, you stated the obvious once again. Good job. It's easy to do when you're 12-0. Tommy shared your comfort once. Only thing is he remained unbeaten. Can you?

I think this is the most damning statment for Tuberville yet. Sabans now scared of who we will get he knew what we had and he loved it like 36-0 kinda love.

Blogger FSJ said...

Saban scared? Are you kidding me?

I don't think Saban thinks that way. That's sort of a bonehead, Alabama fan way of thinking. Or Paul Finebaum.

Saban is a coach and those guys, most of them, are sort of a fraternity. Everybody recognizes Tubs ran a clean show. And Auburn isn't as good as other programs right now because of it in my opinion. It's extremely hard work playing fair and doing the right thing.

the unknown is scary so yeah scared. His job may have just gotten harder depending on who Auburn hires.

Wonder if he regrets having McElroy throw the fade now?

Saban was singing Tuberville's praises last week.

Just like Tuberville was singing Shula's.

Jeezum, people.

There's a ruthless coach across the state who wants to destroy his enemies. And some of us are weeping because we've canned a perennial 8-4 coach. In 6 years, our TOTAL margin of victory in the Iron Bowl was 37 points. Saban nearly matched that in 1 game.

Go recite the Auburn Creed 10 times, click your heels together and say "There's no place like Toomers...There's no place like Toomers."

Meanwhile, there's still a ruthless bastard in T-Town who wants to grind us into dust.

Y'all still want to say "Aw, shucks," like Tubby? or do you want somebody who'll compete with him and go for the throat?

Sincerely,

J. Kev

I doubt Saban fears any hire. I think he was genuine and you will likely see on ESPN a lot of similar reactions. Auburn would have been much wiser to have given Tuberville the benefit of the doubt on the Franklin hire. If he had flopped next season, nobody would have thought this to be such an idiotic move.

J Kev, we likely just got rid of the only coach that could have competed with Saban.

Tuberville stepped down. He wasn't fired. Jacobs' comments are not doctored up.

Quit creating all these funky scenarios. Tuberville is done coaching. Ask Jay G. 55 has always been his stopping point.

he got the benefit of the doubt when he promoted the wrong coach in 03 and let a championship team lose a season. Then he hired the right coach in 04 and went undefeated. This year he made the same mistake with a less talented team..hired the wrong coach again. If you don't learn from your mistakes your gonna repeat em.

Look, Saban didn't dominate the world at LSU where he had no in state competition. Some of you live in la la land. There are 4 or 5 programs in the SEC that could bust out a championship type season in any given year. Alabama is one of those places. Obviously, Auburn is, too.

Auburn went from being one of the best teams in the country (maybe THE BEST) to being the second-worst in the SEC in four years.

That is Terry Bowden-esque.

Some of you people are on heavy drugs.

Steve:

Tuberville was .500 against Houston Nutt.

Ole Miss has better players than we do.

We got our fanny handed to us by Petrino and a bad Arkansas team.

We lost to VANDY. 3 straight losses to UGA for the first time in more than 25 years.

We're terrible. And you want me to think Tubby can right the ship and compete with Saban.

Have another bong hit.

Tuberville was fired. You don't give buyouts to folks that voluntarily quit.

a reasonable amount of success relative to their circumstances

Wow. Saban really has no respect at all for AU. How worried about his big buddy Tuberville was he when he was throwing the ball into the end zone with 3 minutes on the clock and exhorting his players to run up the score because "he f'ing hates that team"?

8:12 PM
Blogger Bfoster18 said...

Faker, you do give buy outs to people that step down. There's a lot more to this deal than you know and it won't be mentioned here or anywhere.

Of all people, do you think Captain Defiant would go away quietly and keep his wealthy residence in Auburn if he was treated unfairly?

Get real, man. Quit trying to parallel two separate programs.

How the hell do you think you got to Bama, Saban?

If Tuberville quit -- and I think that happened for real -- why is he entitled to the entire sum?

I think that's a reasonable question.
