An unlikely partnership?
In this nifty story from CNBC, former Auburn tailbacks Vincent Jackson and Ronnie Brown now are attempting to multiply their fortunes via the banking industry. The story says they have "become partners," but it's unclear how their two banks are related.
Brown is on the board of directors at Broward Bank of Commerce, which opened late last year. That bank is located in the northern Miami suburbs.
Jackson is on the board of directors at Burr Ridge Bank & Trust. That bank is located in the Chicago suburbs. It's unclear to me if the bank is open for deposits, but it has been cleared to do so by the FDIC.
This certainly seems like a curious time to be breaking into the banking business.

Way to go young blood, gettin paid, gettin paid!
Oh, and
1!!!!
Well and 2 as well.
Gettin' paid by your own bank would be a sweet thing.
If there were XBox Achievements in real life, I'd make that one.
Sounds look a good venture for both as they were both money in the bank for AU.
OK, that was lame.
Both made some serious deposits on UAT.
Not any better.
"In a related story, Carnell 'Cadillac' Williams has decided to become a real estate agent."
Bobby Lowder has decided to start over at Colonial Bank
I know some hate carrying over topics from antoher thread, but here my take on Meek Mike McNeil. There is no safety who seems meeker in an interview than Troy Polamalu. On the field, he is different.
I think personalities can sometimes affect the way you play (it is pretty obvious Larry Hughes, the basketball player who is laid back and said something along the lines of "Fun is more important than winning" genuinely plays like that), a lot of the times it can be misleading. Some people can turn it on and off.
Slow Puppet Hour today.
I invest in GOLD!!! YEAHHH!
Where has the Secretary of Snark, Harrison, been lately?
Probably in jail.
I keep hearing gold is a sure thing. The last sure thing, of course, was real estate. No matter what the commodity, if everyone thinks it is a sure thing, it's cost will inflate. And then burst.
michael: engineer by day, economist by... day. I just chill at night, mostly.
Michael ...
Are you laissez faire? Keynesian? Marxist? A Friedman disciple?
We need to know.
I am an If Everyone Says it is a Sure Thing, Then it is Sure to Fail; Maybe not Today, Maybe not Tomorrow, but one Day Economist. Or, as we are called in some parts, Jan Terrian.
Linebackers is likely where our depth issues will be on defense. The secondary looks pretty good, especially with Savage back. The defensive line should be okay and I expect to see some defensive linemen head to the other side of the ball.
As for the bank think, I find it terribly ironic. I have recently gotten into the stock market myself. Today the stock market is getting worse, believe it or not. It is kind of like our 2007 offense going into 2008. It couldn't get worse could it? Who knew?
I've always wondered why players don't just spread their signing bonuses out among many institutions up to the $100,000 FDIC maximum and live off interest. I'm no economist(obviously), could someone smarter tell me is this not a reasonable plan? Is it just the challenge of doing something besides football or do they want to make more money?
I have decided to go into banking myself. I bought 5000 shares of colonial bankgroup at it's 52 week low of 0.37 on February 17. I am currently up 5000 nickles!
A Puppet Hour to forget!
So economically savvy.
I have also invested in giga-beam at .05/share as well as sirriusxm at .11/share. I need a google phenomenon.
I am considering investing in Sirius XM. It may work out good in the short term, but I have heard talk of possible bankruptcy in a few months.
Steve, I have heard the same thing. I figures that I would try to milk it for a little short term as well. It's surely a gamble though.
Chantel Hilliard's MRI revealed no tear and no structural damage. She is not out for the season, but will be questionable for the team's final regular-season game against Arkansas.
That game will be played Sunday.
What a bizarre time to be getting into the banking game.
Jay, have you seen the article about Oku moving to Nebraska to be near a girl he met while visiting the University of Nebraska? I am really starting to wonder about this guy. I saw it on Al.com/Goldberg
He got it from Rivals. I saw that. Decided against posting it because, I don't know, it seems kinda paparazzi-ish.
You're welcome to discuss it here, though.
What have y'all done with THT and Luv?
