Jay I love these videos more than I know how to say!

Question: How do you feel about limited access to practice?

Practice is at 5, but we're allegedly getting players at 2 or 3.

My goal is to get a practice report and a video up asap. I can't stay for after-practice festivities. The Daughter has a soccer game and that comes before spring football practice.

Fall practice? That would be a tougher call.

I'd pay for a life size poster of Eltoro leaping over the O-line, arriving the same time as the shotgun snap, hitting the UAT QB for the safety to take a 77-0 lead late in the third quarter.

I'm going to break some news right here.

I (probably) will not be attending A-Day. This is Wifey's call. She is demanding my presence at her best friend's wedding. She's the matron honor and that's a role that demands husbandly support.

We'll get Bag on the scene. I know he'll handle business in a capable manner.

Harrison, I may need to reconsider my statement saying bbq fest is worth the trip. I myself have not traveled back for it since leaving the memph... just thought I should tell you that in the spirit of full disclosure. After all, I don't want you to get there and be all like, "this is it? screw michael my internet friend!" Because the more I think about it, there are cheaper ways to get beer and barbecue without subjecting yourself to the summer heat surrounded by shirtless hicks.

so there ya go.

Seanzie, this is what Jay G had to say about him in Feb.:

TB/WR/DB/KR Demond Washington
5-9, 185, Tallassee HS (Tallassee)/Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C.
Washington is perhaps the most versatile player in this class. He played cornerback, tailback and wideout in junior college. Considering the Tigers' array of similar players clearly headed for offensive roles, Washington appears destined for defensive duty. He committed to Ole Miss initially. He changed that allegiance a week before Signing Day. Washington will be a special-teams candidate immediately. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

While I think that coaches salaries are economically inflated, I don't have a problem with them. The CEO that the President fired a couple of days ago (err, asked to resign) is getting a $20MM severence package, that is pretty much right out of taxpayers money.

Coaches salaries are generally not paid from state, or even school funds, but by the people who are most interested in their services: the fans. Like Michael and J-Z said, it's a free market. That's good. Long live big salaries!

9:34 AM
Blogger Jet said...

At this point, I fully expect the White House to call on the resignation of coaches based on performance -- in fact, since only one of the three teams that the President selected to make the Final Four actually made it, it's appropriate for him to seek three resignations.

That sounds about right, Jet. I mean, he's the President. If anyone should be able to fire coaches and rearrange the structure of college sports, it should be him.

I say Auburn sends lobbyists to Washington right now to ask for the firing of Meyer, Richt, Saban, and Nutt effective immediately. Also, not that it would affect Auburn, I'd like to see him revoke Tebow's final year of eligibility.

jhag - not sure of you figured out the hourly, but coaches put in insane hours.so it might only be 200 or 300 an hour

The funny part is for guys like saban, you know the money is just an ego thing. Do you really think Saban takes the time to do things with his money that he can enjoy. I haven't heard about him taking a month off to drive across the country. Or him buying a yacht and spending time down in the Gulf.

If you gave me 4 mil a year, I could use it right, most of these coaches prob can't.

as in, he's been offered the job...the question is, is UGA really a better place to be than Missouri?

Run Tater Run, Ben the Bear is ready to rock and roll. Good article on the Auburn Beat. I believe the whole team has this attitude and it will create a winning season, IF, we are lucky in the injury dept. on the O-Line

PF - no way UGA is a better job. You're going up against UK, Tennessee, Florida, Vandy twice a year. All much better programs. But Florida and UT weren't great jobs before Donovan and Pearl got there either so who knows?

I'm don't like referring to anything as "the bear".....and certainly not an Auburn player

365•24=8,760 hours in a year.

$ 4,000,000 for Calipari in a year.

4,000,000 divided by 8,760= $456.62 an hour.

Ca$h money.

I know you guys disagree, but I think that kind of money for one person is sickening (and I'm not saying that because I'm jealous. I truly do not want that kind of money).

Actually, the average year is 8 765.81277, which is taken care of on our calendars by leap year.

the trick in today's world is finding something you do well that deserves such a substantial salary. if you do something so important so well, then you are gonna get paid big. coaching a high revenue sports team at a major university apparently falls into that category. lest we forget, coke, golden flake, zeigler, nike etc. pay much a coach's salary because we not only eat up tickets to the game, but we eat up their products (literally and figuratively) that coach says to buy because they sponsor the team.

11:13 AM
Blogger JgobravesHAG said...

$7.60 a minute

give me my coke products (for my AU logo icechest), zeigler hot dogs, and golden flake pork rinds! no tailgate is complete without them! and i need my under armor AU jersey and the AU logo mini football to throw in the parking lot. and don't forget the AU logo pop-up tent to keep me from getting sunburned and/or dry from the rain. i also usually wear and AU hat of some sort. but buying season tix is for chumps!

at those minutely rates, coaches should be barred from taking a vacation of any sort or even leaving their office unless it is on "company business". let's build a suite on campus for them and their family connected to an athletic facility and hold them prisoner for the term of their contract since they get paid so much.

this may actually be a good idea to employ with another overpaid and underworked part of society, U.S. CONGRESS.

I believe nature balances all. Whatever you are paid (as long as it's the most you can find) then that is what you are worth.
