I love creative marching bands

Hey everyone. This is not Auburn-related.

Underrated part of my job: Hearing the marching bands every week. I think Auburn has a swell band. They don't play anything real crazy, but they handle their business.

Here is USC's band making me happy by playing Avenged Sevenfold's "Almost Easy." Brilliant.

Man, even on the Auburn Insider, they are talking about Todd being the guy. Man, why didn't someone see this Todzilla coming earlier?

10:28 AM
Blogger mytommyd said...

I think it'd be cool if we can come up with the rushing numbers that Malzahn was able to get out of Tulsa. Those were about 3 times what we had last year, right?

10:29 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Todzilla, smodzilla. Tyrik Rollison is the man, just wait and see!!!!

10:29 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

I am hoping for a very physical running attack. Tate getting the ball deep, from behind the QB should help. Fannin or McCalleb will also offer another option from the h-back spot.

10:31 AM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

yeah Steve, i wish you had mentioned C.Todd earlier. my goodness. ;)

10:31 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Arkansas the year Mustain was the QB under Malzhan (well until being 9-1 wasn't good enough for Nutt) ran the ball all the time. They hardly passed the ball.

10:31 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

Also, keep in mind that Caudle, Rollison, and Moseley are all not that big. I expect an SEC QB to be at least around 210, which, if I remember correctly, Todd and Burns are.

10:32 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

Arkansas is probably the team that has had the rushing attack most similar to Bama last season. I still remember them rushing for around 400 yards against us. It still pisses me off.

10:34 AM
Blogger AUfan said...

How many quarterbacks play for Auburn in the first game(not including Fannin or other position players)?

I'll say 3.

10:35 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

What about 300 pounds for an SEC QB Steve?

I don't think you can measure whether a QB will be good based on his weight, I just don't.

10:36 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Depressed, 2 at most, most likely just 1.

10:36 AM
Blogger Monica said...

OY VEY! I HATE HATE HATE HATE having 499 QB's in and out of a game.

10:37 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Depressed- To clarify, if Rollison is not the starter (which he probably won't be) but is not redshirted, then 2 QB's play, if Rollison is red shirted, then just 1 QB plays barring injury.

10:37 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Eddie,

If it's just one, that means La Tech gave us a really really tough game and we didn't get the back ups any work.

10:38 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

Mon,

What about 499 pound QB's?

10:39 AM
Blogger mytommyd said...

Just took a look, and yes I understand it's against a different conference and level of talent, but Tulsa ran the ball for an average of 268/game. Not bad for a "passing" offense, huh?!?

10:39 AM
Blogger mytommyd said...

Mon's speaking yiddish :)

10:40 AM
Blogger Monica said...

Call me crazy, but I say there'd be mobility issues with a 499 pounder. :-)

10:41 AM
Blogger AUfan said...

I'm thinking Malzahn would rather not play that many, I just feel like there won't be enough seperation between them to play only one.

Eddie,if your prediction comes true, who do you think that one QB will be?

10:42 AM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

You're crazy.

A 499 QB would be impossible to bring down...until his heart attack sometime before halftime of his 1st start.

10:42 AM
Blogger Monica said...

What? Because I'm a Catholic girl who was raised Southern Baptist, I can't speak a little Yiddish?

(that was in my best Barbara Streisand accent)

10:44 AM
Blogger BigEZ said...

I think we'll play only one unless we run the Wildcat which in my opinion doesn't count for multiples. I think they will pick one, have him ready practice the backup and have him ready if the 1 doesn't pan out, just like any other year.

10:48 AM
Blogger mytommyd said...

Ohhh absolutely darling, speak away speak away. It's a free country.

10:48 AM
Blogger Jet said...

How many QBs?

In a perfect world, 2.

The first one is the starter. If he gets the game in hand, then another gets out the mop at the end.

Who? Not sure.

Who it's not? My guess is Kodi is neither QB1 or QB2 when La. Tech comes to town. Strictly a guess.

10:50 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Depressed- Chris Todd would be my prediction, if arm strength doesn't wear down thru practices.

RK- La Tech will not be easy. Too many changes for it to be easy.

10:55 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

Eddie, I agree. My fear is that Todd will be the starter but his arm won't hold up for more than half the season. If that is the case, I would rather them go with someone else.

As for number of QBs who play, 2 or 3 is my guess. Todd starts, Kodi comes in in obvious running situations, and the second stringer (Caudle or Rollison) comes in to mop up.

11:02 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

As for La. Tech being easy, it will only be if we can play smash mouth and Tate runs that ball down their throats. That is what I am hoping to see.

11:03 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

From the insider: "The worst thing that can happen is that you get behind Chris Todd and his arm gives out 3 or 4 games into the season". I have to agree with that one.

I'm stickin with Caudle guys. If Todd can make the year, I'm fine with that. I just thing Caudle made the huge push last year.

11:23 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

You are welcome Eddie. There are a lot of interesting quotes in the show.

11:25 AM
Blogger Unknown said...

I will go with Todadlurn. Take Todd's head, glue it on Caudle's torso, and add Burn's legs.

11:27 AM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Thanks for the laugh Salsa. Please prove my point and tell me you believe that, that McElroy is better than McCoy and Bradford. It will make my day. I bet you also slobber over Trent Richardson's photo about how great he is going to be this year, because he is looks like a "beast". I'm just to sane to ever think about rooting for a team like bama I guess.

11:36 AM

I thought Bama was pinning all their great QB hopes on Star Jones - wasn't he supposed to be the next greatest thing?

It occurs to me that Gus Malzahn may have the easiest OC job in the nation this season. I mean, he can set modest goals. Get the linemen to wait until the ball is snapped to move. Don't call himself an idiot. Score more than 3 points against MSU. Score against Bama. And the biggest goal of all: Don't say we need to simplify the offense!!!

I hate preseason QB speculation, soooooo without further adieu:

I see a 4 prong QB attack

1. A Kodi Burns that won't break don't mechanics when under pressure and actually knows our O and the opposing D.

2. A Neil Caudle that now has practiced and scrimmaged enough with the ones that he won't throw INTs willy nilly.

3. A Chris Todd that now has full arm strength, learnt Malzahn's offense from film study and knocked .4 of his 40 speed.

4. A Tyrick Rolleson that will come to fall camp, learn the Offense in 2 weeks, avoid typical freshman mistakes, adjust to the speed of the SEC and acclimate to life without momma. GET ON THE TRAIN.

I also see Federal Gubmint limiting spending, the recession ending tommorrow and the banks handing out money like chewing gum.

Life is good.

ultra lite is a lite weight rod that lets you feel LOTS more action when fishing - let's you cast small lures and it's really good for artificials for small mouth

Ultralite is normally 2-6# test line on an open-faced spinning reel. It is good for stealthy presentations. Trout fishermen use those rigs on small, tree canopied No Ga. streams to catch 4"-6" native trout. I go once a year with some buddies, but in order to be good, you gotta do it a lot. I prefer to catch big, stoopid large mouth bass.

1:41 PM

Eddie..yeah...as far as Bammers go...he's not as bad as most..but, I prefer not to have them near me.

Maybe it comes from not having lived in Al since 1980.

We live in a diverse neighborhood: UGA,GT,UT,AU,UF,Spellman,Vandy,Morehouse, etc. A Bammer from Birmingham moves in and the neighbors invite him to the next neighborhood event. By the end of the evening he is teetering drunk and has fully exposed his rich, ignorant, necked-out self. After the event, the neighbors asked me for advice, because I "grew up with them". It's not always possible, but try your best to ignore them is my advice.
