Jet-Mine got a partial scholly and I went online to pay the balance of what I owe (or I should say wifey did) and when the comoputer didn't react as quick as she thought, she hit the enter key twice more. She was to add to the the credit card (the preferred way at AU) and guess who paid a full years tuition in big swoop. It took several calls to get my money back.
yes
WTC ...
AFter the salmon croquette/mac-cheese dinner, we had a dip cone after taking Stewardess and a friend somewhere. Going to get the furniture out of storage tomorrow for ElTurbo.
Have fun running 11 ... I'll probably drive at least 11 tomorrow.
DANGIT...
No you can not.
Southern Homes is coming for a photo shoot at daughters apt soon. OMG did she have a lot of stuff. she may never leave AU.
It sure is quiet around here.
Mon ...
He won't have to take the equivalents of English 101-102, won't have to take his poli sci, math, and one history. He walks in with 15 hours in his pocket.
Jack@$$.
Jet. Never mention Salmon croquettes again. I recall the smell when I walked into the house as a small child. A picture of someone hurling comes to mind.
Sponge ...
You live in a pineapple under the sea. You can't handle the smell of fish? Toughen up, man!
wow - that is so very cool
I was on scholly when i was a freshman at AU. I used to be smart. Of course that was back when Auburn was on quarters and not semesters.
Mon-Mix brown sugar with almond extract, vanilla extract and then drop in quarter cut peaches. mix it up and put on the grill skin side down for 3 minutes, rotate to one side for 1 minute, then rotate to other side for 1 minute. (grill on medium heat) Put either vanilla yogurt or ice cream in a bowl and add a couple of peaches.
Delich.
Delish
wtc, you stole my only chance for glory. I go to bed tonight defeated.
I don't quite understand how that mixture goes on the grill, but that's ok. Sounds so yummy.
Sounds kinda tasty ... of course, Mama used to make homemade peach ice cream. Now that was some stuff.
The sponge loves the Salmon if he can jerk it out of the water and land it on the grill. Once canned, I'd rather eat Haggis (check that spelling)
WTC - How will you pay for it during your run? Why are you running 11 miles? Why not 10 or 12?
canned salmon = GACK!
Mon- the mixture brings more sweetness to the peach. This is Bobby Flay speacial.
We have made homeage peach and vanilla ice cream about 15 times this summer. There is a raging debate among family members. Cooked or uncooked. I fall into the uncooked category. cooking it makes it taste more like custard.
When you grow up poor, canned salmon has to do.
does anyone else understand my confusion? do you put that mixture in a pan and put it on the grill?
I think i will still be very full in the morning. That is how I will pay for it.
My running group has started training for another marathon to be run in San Antonio in Novemeber. this is just a scheduled workout we have that will take us about 13 weeks to train for it.
Then why use a grill. why not an oven, or stove top.
We did 9 twoo weeks ago and had an easy week last week (only 6 miles) so we have to step it up this week. Next week will go a little further and the the next one we take a step back.
did you have to walk barefoot in the snow uphill both ways, Jet?
God love your heart.
By the way. add a little rum and that will sweeten it up a bit as well. A lot of rum, and you can take the day off of the running thing.
Just for a frame of reference, WTC, I believe you reside near the Mitylene exit.
A marathon would be the equivalent of parking your car at the Liberty gas station and running from there to the Tuskegee exit.
Your car works, doesn't it?
You put the peaches in the mixture to coat them and then pull them out and grill them to get the grill marks and bring out the sweetness. They are very firm when done right.
Thank you for clearing that up for me. :-)
you're cracking me up, Sponge
wtc. that running thing will kill you. Drink wine, and lots of it. They never die of heart attacks. And you stay thin as well. Never feel like eating.
You are right Jet. I don't think i will do that but have decided I will ride my road bike (pedal) to AU one gameday. Taking back roads it should only be 50 miles from the house.
Meth will do that for you, too.
Not me, Mon, ... mama and daddy.
Dad grew up in a house full of women -- his father died when Dad was 5 in 1931. They made do with little.
Mama grew up on a farm. They had land to grow food, but they had no money.
(Name redacted) was a staple for poor Southern folk in days from the 1930s to the 1970s.
it may sound strange, but finding a few freinds that run is great. We meet every Saturday morning at 6:00am and run. We talk about the kids, football AU and UA and UGA. it is very interesting.
Yeah Mon. Meth. Hard to eat with no teeth. And, you could run for miles, with all those purple panthers chasing you and such.
none of that is reason for you to still be eating canned salmon
You run 11 miles, and TALK. How can you hear over the howling sound of air rushing thru the windpipes.
I think it sounds awesome, WTC.
(lmao @ purple panthers)
Canned salmon. Maybe there is something that can make me run.
You guys crack me up.
It was tough at first, but like the old saying goes (for runners) if youcan do 3 you can 6 and if you can 6 you can do 10, etc. I could n't talk at first, but after a few runs, you can. The trouble starts at about 18 to 20 miles. Not much talking when we hit that number.
Canned salmon will give you the runs. BTW, don't eat a Taco bell the night before either. if you do, lay out a course where there is new home construction. you wil lneed that portolet.
Nite Nite. gotta get my chillun and his spend the night to bed. I'm hopin to forget hearing about Salmon croquettes by morning. gag.
I see where A smith was a no show at benagls camp. What a smart guy.
Happy dreams, Sponge, of your favorite foods.
WTC that was WAY more than I needed to know.
Goodnight, Sponge. Sweet Salmon Dreams.
you gotta plan Mon, you gotta plan.
We used to make homemade peach ice cream at my Grandmother's house. The kind where the kids would take turns sitting on the ice cream maker while an adult cranked the thingy.
I used to do that until I became big enough that the adults made me crank the churn while they carried on.
LOL biting my tongue
reread that and may need to delete that post.
it's just me - sorry
check FB mon
Good night, good luck, War Eagle, Hate UAT.
sup hotties what going on
Good morning Hotties! It's AUGUST!
T-minus 35 days til kickoff!
HAPPY JOE CHILDRESS DAY!!!
Mr. Childress was a 2-time All-SEC fullback in '54 and '55. He was ALL-AMERICAN in 1955 and 7th overall pick in the 1st round of the 1956 NFL draft. He spent his entire 10 year NFL career with the Chicago/St. Louis Cardinals. His best college game was in 1954 when he had 164 yds rushing in leading Auburn to an upset win over 5th ranked Miami. Mr. Childress passed away at age 53 after a valiant fight against cancer.
The floor is now open for shout-outs to your fav 35s!
WARRRRRR EAGLE!!!
GO TIGERS!!!
Nice work, THT, I had never heard of Childress, sounds like he was quiet the player.
My shout-out would be for Carlo Cheattom, the hard-hitting safety from the late eighties. Forever famous for the Reggie Cobb wipe-out, he was one of the big hitters of those great Auburn teams from that time period.
WAR DAMN JOE CHILDRESS DAY! YIPPEE!!!
shout-out to #35 Will Herring, the pride of Opelika H.S.
I wonder what day is tomorrow! I can't wait!
Scottie B,
Got my t-shirt yesterday! THANK YOU!!!
Cincy, you will love it. It's good quality and washes well. :)
He was favorite scottie! I started liking him his freshman year. I wanted to get a jersey with his number on it, but the bookstore didn't have any.
*my favorite. My brain goes faster than my fingers.
Hawaii coach docked about 7 percent of his pay for his inappropriate comments regarding Notre Dame and gays at WAC Media Days.
Perhaps, he should renegotiate for a beer with Obama and Charlie Weis.
I am patiently waiting my six pack from the white house...
If those guys get beer on my tax dollars, then I think I should get beer on my tax dollars...
welcome Cincy. glad u like it. :)
If you get beer, I want a bottle of Maker's. That's only fair.
There is a kegger at the UAB bookstore today... trying to lure in students with beer... get them drunk enought o buy overpriced books they don't need (or at least wouldn't use).
Brilliant marketing idea.
I'm going.
D. Miller.
If you find sketchy looking dude in bammer jersey selling books at half price outside the bookstore, avoid. We don't want your name come up in the next NCAA bammer book-thieves sting.
I don't give money to bammers....
It creeps me out when they are standing next to the interstate on ramp every day with a different sign asking for money....
Aero....your avatar reminds me of a local ice creamery out in the county named "Udder Delights". If that's not bad enough....their logo is similar to your avatar. Decent icecream though.
udder delights ... how delightful.... decadently delicious.
And this blog is on life support, the first time I'm posting drunk.
Nos enganaron con la primavera !
I think I should take it to the next page.
Only 125 to go.. heh.. too many.
Aero -this is all the help I can give you right now, but it does get you down to 124
We could have a countdown.
123
Enjoy the break from your duties Aero....it's needed and I'm certain you've earned it.
I'm afraid a truck rental will be in order for the ElTurbo move ... don't think the ol' pickup can handle it all. We'll see.
By the way, it is August!!
D. Miller, have you played Timberline yet? We just got home from playing there. UGH. Don't ask. Love the course, though.
Kiffin billboard article
Jet,
I have a utility trailer you can borrow it it would help during the move.
Your pal,
J-Z
I think someone signed a DNR order on this thread. I blame Jet. Then again, I blame Jet for everything. I blame Jet for the Octomom, Jon & Kate plus 8 and the 2008 AU football season.
Jet..borrow the trailer
At Ga So. where my daughter goes, there were great deals on brand new, nicely furnished apts. Wifey/daughter decided it was much easier and no more expensive to rent the furnished apt and then splurge on accessories. The initial splurge was expensive, but she is entering her 4th year without moving and it has paid off.
J-Z ... I may very well take you up on that.
It's true, everything is Jet's fault. EVERYTHING. It's been that way for years.
Jet, I'm assuming you've progressed far enough in you man training to back a 10 x 12 trailer up.
J-Z ...
I've progressed so far that I hire out those sort of duties.
I feel much safer now. Lemme know. I'll even deliver it to you if you need it...unless you don't want me to know where you stay.
Family Bridge Night is over, thankfully. I never had a single hand with opening count. From what I understand, it's Jet's fault.
when I left home for Auburn nearly a century ago, all I needed fit in my Toyota Corona.
I remember getting both my stuff and friend's (including 70's era speakers) in my VW bug. It rode pretty low to the ground but it moved everything.
Jet-I thought he didn't have that much stuff. I did fit everything but the washer/dryer in a pickup bed. We looked like the Clampbetts going down I65 but we got there w/o losing anything.
I don't have a subscription to Auburn Undercover but the lead says AU made Lattimore's top 5. I did not know we were even on his list.
we picked up his bed, dresser, bookcase, night stand and easy chair and it filled my truck ... got mattress, box springs, and an HD to deal with.
Come on Jet, you can get it in there.
We got a sofa, two chairs, box spring, mattress, desk, night stand, TV, credenza, bed frame in the truck. It took a 150 foot rope the tie it together though.
What happened to the rule that said you HAD to live in the dorms your freshman year?
Monica ... that rule doesn't exist at Auburn these days, but will soon when all the dorms are done.
Yes, we're in Lattimore's top 5. Penn St, Oregon, NC, SC and Auburn. He named some things he liked about his top 5.
from auburnsports.com
"I would be a versatile player in the Auburn offense like they (Gus Malzahn) used Darren McFadden (at Arkansas). I also like the city of Auburn.
And this one cracked me up:
"North Carolina is beautiful. I love the city (Chapel Hill), women, and the coaches and players. It's a pro-style offense and coach (Butch) Davis is great.
Well, no wonder y'all are moving so much stuff! The biggest thing I had to take was a mini-fridge.
LaDarius Owens and his mom were in Auburn today and Trovon Reed DID make it today. WOOP WOOP!
auburnsports.com
Remember the Titans is on one of my movie channels!
Leave no doubt, Herman! Run it up!
Luv,
Yes, I have played Timberline once... I had one of those "don't ask" rounds there too. It is a beautiful course, and I want to play there again soon.
Omni,
Did anyone other than Lad-O and Trovon make it into town today? Glad to see Owens mum was with him... did any of Trovon's fam accompany him?
I love that movie.
Jet - ribs were great, chicken was even better - James, the owner, hung out with us for a bit. There's a Ribfest going on in town so business was slow. You would love this place.
D - I read where his family was supposed to accompany him today, but I haven't seen anything that confirms that they did. If I do I shall report it IMMEDIATELY.
You'll killin' me, Mon.
I had a Momma's Love from Momma Goldberg's-East Gump.
If I could I'd send you my doggie bag filled with leftovers!
Jet-I favor Firehouse Subs or Quiznos over Momma's. I now that is heresy but just my taste.
WTC,
If I'm going to get banned for not liking beer, not liking Momma G's must merit at least the same sentence! I think we are doing the new B'ham Momma G's on the way home from church tomorrow.
I'm being the dutiful wife and watching 3:10 To Yuma with my hubby. I hope it gets better.
WTC ...
I guess you'd rather get lemonade from a can than from Toomer's. I guess you'd rather spit on the ground at the site of the "Flush" and have a scoop of Marble Slab. I guess you'd rather cancel "Tiger Walk" because it's "just too many people in the street." I guess you'd rather "not hate UAT because hate is such an ugly thing."
Don't say that sort of stuff publicly again. There could be repercussions.
Oh, Jet, did you have to mention the Flush? I loved that place. The upside down banana splits were my favorite. My daughter gave her daddy a framed drawing of the Flush as a thank you for her beautiful wedding.
I love Toomer's lemonade. What is The Fluch?
Sani Freeze was an old ice cream and sandwich shop - it looked so bad it was called sani flush - The Flush. They made the best upside down banana splits in a cup. Closed when AmSouth bought the land.
butterscotch dip cones at The Flush - yummmmeeeeeee
Mon- why did that crack you up?
The Amsouth deal which caused the closure of The Flush was Jet's fault. Also, Colonial Bank's impending doom? Jet.
I HATE movies that do not end happily ever after. Therefore, I did not like 3:10 to Yuma.
I have no affiliation with AmSouth. And I believe Norm was once employed by Colonial.
So I think we know who's really to blame.
I've only seen the original 3:10 to Yuma, not the remake. It wasn't the greatest movie I've seen.
But I do love the song of the same title by Warren Zevon.
If Trovon Reed ever did commit this would certainly be the best WR class AU has signed since who knows when, All American Antonio Goodwin, Jeremy Richardson, and all american trovon reed
Fine Jet, you have me there. I'll blame you for the failure of some local insurance company then.
hi jhag!
Make it happen!!!
which insurance carrier Norm
Yea, this is a star studded receiving class. I believe it was the 2006 class that was considered one of the best in the nation. This one looks better than that to me.
WTC - without naming names, it's been in the news aplenty. It was located not terribly far from you I do believe. Does that help?
i've never worked for an insurance company, Norm.
Any failures have been their own.
yes it does. i met him the other night at 16 market and when he introduced himself, he said " You may have heard of me.
I didn't have a very good run today. I'm blaming that on Jet too. It's pretty difficult to explain precisely how it's hit fault, just trust me on this one.
Norm. the first 8 miles went very well, but the humidity was awful today. last three miles took a little longer but I finished.
it was still jet's fault though
tht - the part where he said it was the women he liked - that cracked me up
I like that Auburn made Lattimore's top 5, although I bet he is South Carolina bound. It is nice to see Florida State out of the picture. Penn State is probably a contender also.
The thing with this recruiting class is we have 2 primary needs: linebacker and offensive linemen. We have done well with linebackers, but I would like to see some top notch offensive linemen.
WTC - did I hear correctly that Montgomery's going to try and put on a 1/2 Marathon this fall?
Oct 2 ... I think, Norm
Norm,
The Gump wants to set a new world record in the 1/2 marathon... The course is set to start in south Gumpery and run through the western blvd area and end up back in south gumpery....
They figure runners will be running from bullets so much that they are bound to set a record... It is yet to be determined if it will be a time record, or a number of runners shot during the race record...
Quidich on an Imax screen is awesome.
wtc. You would have done better if not for the talk of salmon croquettes last night. enough to make anyone have nightmares.
and for you golfers, Farm Links is a must do. You will enjoy golf as it is meant to be played, at least in Alabama.
DMiller ...
The Gump ... Love it or Leave It!
OK, I guess you did.
Two questions:
1) Where is Farm Links?
2) does anyone subscribe to "TalkinTigers.com" and the free newsletter they put out?
Norm the 1/2 is 10.03.09
I am running in it.
farmlinks in close to sylacauga. It takes less than an hour from Hoover to get there, depending on where you are coming from. It a one fee course. I think about $130 bucks now, but that gets you as much golf as you can play in a day along with lunch and beverages...no alchohol. Free range and practice facilities all day as well. There are limited rounds on the course, so it never gets crowded, and no housing developments either. Just golf on a great course.
Jet, I had no major qualms with the Gump. My neighbors thought I was the "crazy white guy" so they pretty much left me alone. I was fine.
Side note... When you walk outside your S Gump apt after hearing gunshots, beer in hand and yell 'Cut that sh*t out and shut the f$&@ up!' you tend to get labelled as crazy. Who knew?
last post before bed. We will have a very good recruiting class this year. Better than in years with what we have privately committed. (assuming we don't crash w/ self inflicted wounds somehow) Real football players with enough size to compete in SEC. Hope our coaches can coach em up, cause even if we recruit well, AU will never just out talent the big SEC schools. Thats what makes college football so special. ANTICIPATION. It's makin me wait, it's keepin me waiaiaiatin. War Eagle, hate UAT
D. Walk down Bell street and holler that again....
HAPPY VINCENT EDWARD JACKSON DAY!!!

Bo...a fine example of the Auburn Family.
Just Do It.
happy BO day.
not so happy here. say a quick prayer for my newest dog Tucker. he pulled his collar off this morning and ran away so he has no ID at all. i'm about to head out for round 2 of my search. :(
(Hang in there, Scottie B.)
What an appropriately named man. His ability reduced us to monosyllabic grunts when he did something special, which was frequent.
The brother of my brother-in-law recalls with laughter the night Pat Dye spoke to the Nashville Auburn Club in advance of the 1982 season. He was telling the group about the incoming players.
"We got a running back from Birmingham ... Vincent Jackson. He wants to be called 'Bo.' ... We gonna call him 'Bo.' "
I'm sure day 34 was a tough choice.
nice and quiet, as it should be today.
JayGT's excellent article in today's MA.
"paved with...potholes" gave me a chuckle, but as usual, superb analysis.
That was an excellent article. I hadn't considered that we could have problems on the DL. I guess I'm spoiled b/c someone always steps up there.
Excellent article, Jay G.
I know this sounds ridiculous, but I always forget that Jay G. has "real" articles in the paper and I forget to go find them.
and thanks for the link THT
Happy BO day. We shall celebrate this day every year by running over at least one bammer.
( score double points if you run over in your car ).
( score triple points if you run over in a bulldozer ).
after 6 hours and numerous drive-bys all over our area Tucker has been returned home. whew. this kid is wearing me out. :) i really thought he was gone this time. that's the problem trying to house-train a wild hunting dog. it's going to take way more than 3 months.
thanks for the hotties that checked on me. much appreciated.
Scottie B - no manner of training worked on our Golden Retriever. Marley, of Marley and Me fame, had nothing on our Cammie. I put in an invisible fence. It didn't last long. Cammie endured repeated shocking as she located the buried wire, dug it up, and pulled it out of the ground with her mouth. Punk. It took 3 long hard years, but she turned into the best dog I've evere had. And I've had quite a few dogs over the years.
Norm....Cammie sounds tuff.
S'pose she could suit up and play second string OL for us this season?
good mornin hotties
