woot!!!!!
Mission Accomplished!
Dang!
put a lid on it!
scottieb....
That is some mighty fine looking headware.
I knew I should have held it just a couple more minutes!
*headwear
If we're picking kickers, I'll select the walk-on when we had three on schollies ... Dr. Win Lyle. As my alternate, I'll take Scott Etheridge.
By the way, I don't know if you guys heard this, someone told me that RK said Pat Washington was Auburn's best QB ever.
Can you believe that guy?
Pat Washington?
From previous thread:
Any votes for Robert McGinty as the kicker?...I didn't think so.
ChocoScott ... mention that name in presence again, and I'll have both of your legs broken.
Melt his stash! Melt his stash!
JayGT = total badness
Choco - go wash your mouth out with Auburn chocolates
Lyle and Etheridge...yes indeed, both excellent choices.
Ed Dyas wasn't half bad. I think that was before they realized FGs counted more than an XP.
I knew that would get a rise out of George W. You should have had both of his legs broken before he left AU.
If you don't like McGinty, how about Chris Knapp?
As a surgeon, I doubt Dr. Lyle supports a public option in any proposed health care reform.
I offer that just in case that has any impact on your opinions in the body politick.
Just kiddin', Jay G. It's not like we'd listen to a kicker. Eltoro? Sure. A kicker? Not so much.
I'm ordering lids for the whole family ('cept nudist Molly dog who disdains any sort of clothing)
The hat's are top notch. I got to sample protype B & C and i'm impressed. I really like A, but Jay G had already swiped that one :) as seen.
if that's the case, I fully support Dr Lyle.
tell me again, what's your most favorite cost-effective and efficiently run gov't program?
Knapp was a fine human, and was one of three Chris kickers on scholly when Lyle arrived (Johnson and Dickinson were the others).
Knapp nearly became a hero in the 1986 debacle at The Swamp when his 50-plus yard FG try on the last play drifted right. If we had been 3-4 yards closer, he has enough to hold the line.
Of course, that was the game that (NAME REDACTED) kicked a FG for the Gators. Reggie Ware fumbled on the final possession before Florida's last drive, Aundray Bruce committed a stupid personal foul, and Kerwin Bell, who had a handicapped tag attached to his helmet, ran the 10 in 10 seconds.
what email adress socttie?
Jet, please don't bring that game up or I might bring my lunch up.
That game made me want to puke, then and now.
Scottie B ...
How much extra to have our name stitched above the HABOTN link on the cap?
It would make for easier identification at games. That way when I see Steve, I'll know to remove my hat quickly as not to be seen. Or if I see Ehyou, I can pull out the jar of Duke's Mayonnaise I'm lugging around in a cooler for him.
Woo Hoo! Just faxed my order form in! Good thing they come in size Taterhead.
More like melonhead.
Do I hear "pumpkin"?
Brett Favre is an idiot. Thanks for listening.
Hey Pot! Haven't seen you in quite some time.
Your Pal,
Kettle
That goes for both of you.
Too bad your name isn't something like John Cougar Melonhead, J-Z.
It would really be apropros.
or "bobble"?
Well, I see that PPL is back on the team and will practice tonight. I wonder what his role this fall will be after missing two weeks of practice.
THT - about Vaughn's long distance accuracy:
Over his career, Vaughn was 6 of 13 at 40-49 yards. He was 2 of 4 at 50+ yards.
Is that horse dead yet? Let me hit it one more time to make sure.
J-Z I only say that because it takes one to know one, and trust me when I say I know idiots.
Michael ... I'm not sure I get your point, could you explain it another way for me?
Good news!
ElTurbo obtained a mini-pack today -- no La. Tech (I've already made provisions), WVU and UAT. We'll deal with it.
I'm getting very frustrated with these people that hate Brett Favre... The guy is a living, playing legend...Just because he keeps returning because he cant give up the game he loves people hate him? I will never understand how people can say bad things about him when he single handily has every passing record known to NFL stats.
The main reason people are hating on him is because of the media coverage 24/7, this isnt his fault.
Most NFL MVP awards
Most consecutive starts 269
Most TD passes... Read More
Most passing yards
Most passes completed
Most seasons over 3000 yards-16!
Most career games w/ over 3 tds.
First ballot HOF and people are making fun of him...CLOWNS
I don't think I can qualify for "melonhead" in the size department, but if things continue at their current pace, I may soon qualify in the coiffure department.
Scottie B,
I'm headed to a fax machine now.
Can I get a No. 12 embroidered on mine?
I don't think that Vaughn was a better long distance kicker than del Greco or quite a few other former Auburn kickers.
Maybe the horse is playing dead? Where's my bat...
Jhag, everyone is allowed to have an opinion...so you disagree, I respect that.
Those are pretty impressive. I'm impressed. Impressing.
HABOTN Exclusive: Chris Todd is in my Wellness class.
I don't understand how anyone can talk back against all those facts I just put out there, and say he has to stay away...
Yes, Sean, but you are now a clown and an idiot.
I have never bad mouthed Favre but there is a time to step aside and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
His time has come
Matt, can you test the "wellness" of his arm?
Jhag, he swindled the Jets into releasing him so he could take his deal with the Vikings...otherwise they could have gained something of value instead of just letting him walk. If he's going to act in a manner not befitting someone of his stature then he is obviously willing to deal with the criticism. I'm not one to argue his position in terms of all-time greatness but his production drastically fell off last year and I think most fans, myself included are just tried of him yanking people around for the sake of his ego.
Michael, let John Riley give the horse a kick, then we'll know if it's dead or not.
Tell me the Jets record a year before Favre, then tell me their record with Brett Favre. Yeah.
Rat Riley. Now, there's a name from the past.
Jhag, did the Jets make the playoffs last year? Did Jet players complain about his production and contribution to the locker room at the end of the season? yeah...
Sean...that was for Jet and Cocoa Puff Scottie.
Jet...Melonhead was what Fondren called me 20 years ago. Surely you don't want to follow in those footsteps.
Favre is clearly addicted to the game. He's making an asshat of himself. An even wealthier asshat, but asshat all the same.
Brett Favre? Yawn.
Gotcha, I, however, love to self-depricate.
Jet,
Do you know what Rat Riley is doing these days? I used to go to a Bible study he taught at Auburn.
In fact, Favre has made enough money that's he's not an @$$hat anymore. He's an @$$chapeau.
I don't get you people
So, not to get off the Favre chatter, but when is this reality show "Auburn Football, Everyday" going to be shown and where?
I guess that is why Chiz was mic'd up in just about every picture earlier when practice started.
if you want to add a name or number we can make that happen. just add $5.
i wanted them to be less expensive but to cover shipping expenses & tax they had to be that. they're pimp, though.
worth.
every.
penny.
:)
Cincy ...
His web site ... www.johnsriley.com indicates he's still teaching/preaching as a traveling evangelist.
Jay G, reporter and model.
Favre holds every passing record known to mankind, anyone who wants to argue about whether he can come back or not, is not wise and I will just get more frustrated. Case closed, every record, FIRST BALLOT HOF.
@$$chapeau=funny.
also props to Taylor. he was the first to get his order in on both the HABOTN shirts & now the hats. talk about SUBSTANCE!
I heard Favre was up for the BC coaching gig. What gives?
Jhag ...
I don't care if he plays or not. Yeah, he's got the right to play. He was a great competitor. He'll compete again. Will he succeed? Don't know. Don't care.
All I know is that I'm infinitely bored with his vascillation between the farm and the league. My guess is I'm not the only one. His monopolizing of time and media attention hasn't endeared him to many. You shouldn't be surprised by the condescension or indifference.
Eddie, you can find the schedule for the shows on the auburntigers.com website. It's actually replacing the Auburn Football Preview.
Asschapeau is now the name of my company.
$1 to Jet
You're right Jhag, he's God's gift to football. I can't wait to hear this same song and dance next season and have my NFL coverage ram his name down my throat for 17 weeks during the regular season.
Exactly, I am not saying he will succeed ut it damn well will make it intresting on Sundays watching him with AP and Percy Harvin. It's good for the game.
poor hag's got his jock all in a twist!
Thanks, Jet, looks like he is back in Abbeville. Glad to see he is doing well. He had a major impact on many Auburn students.
Would I be wrong to assume it's not his fault the media won't leave him alone. Why don't they go look for another story and let Favre vacillate in peace.
It reminds me of the day in high school when my mother brought a paper sack to school with my "medicine" enclosed.
It was delivered to my history class, which, of course, was taught by one of my coaches, who promptly pulled out the Cruex for all to see.
I guess Jet will be dropping a bunch of cash to cover all his names for each hat. Scottie B will make a fortune off that @$$hat :)!
Monica,
I like the company name. What's the product?
"vacillate in peace"
HAHAHAHAHA
THT- Favre and Bill Clinton are similar. Don't believe a word they say, the truth is always obvious even tho they can't admit it.
I have to admit I had to go to the dictionary on that one.
I'm on the fence on the Favre thing. I'm tired of hearing about it, but I like watching him play. I'd rather him come back than not come back, just for entertainment value. That is, watching him play is entertaining. Listening to the media talk about whether he's coming back, whether he should come back, whether he's allowed to change his mind, whether he's screwing someone over, whether he's selfish...that's annoying and tiresome.
Would I be wrong to assume it's not his fault the media won't leave him alone. Why don't they go look for another story and let Favre vacillate in peace.
THT
EXACTLY
I know that when I vacillate, I prefer it to be in... oh...nevermind. I was thinking of something else.
THT increases my vocabulary every single day.
J-Z...
Please note I used the term "vascillation," first, thereby proving I am the Master of Vascillation.
Whatever, I still think he's an idiot. :)
Favre is the Master of Vicodin.
Jet - I'm sure JZ still thinks you're the prettiest girl.
And Michael is King of Eurasia.
Doubtful, Mon. Doubtful.
Cincy - The #1 product is asshats.
Yes, but i used it first with correct spelling.
So 2 weeks from Saturday? That's just around the corner.
Is it to early to dissect the La Tech game?
scottie-very dope...now if i could decide which one to purchase?
and no one has ever accused me of increasing anyone's vocabulary before, even my own. I never pay more than 10 cents for a word.
All right, i'll catch you all later. Hopefully when the Favre talk settles down.
Sean, if it gets us off Favre, no, it's not too early.
I am also the Master of Mispeling.
that would be me - hands down
turble speeler
I read they are concensus pick by the media to finish fourth in the WAC. For all those unfamiliar, the WAC has had exactly one consistent team, Boise State over the last couple of seasons. I know they are returning oodles of players and have a good coach in place, but does anyone think they have a realistic shot at a road upset?
ok, it's official. I'm waaaay behind here. Time to get some work done :-(
Y'all HOTTIES have a great one!!!
and don't abate the UA-T hate!!!
I doubt it, but one never knows. I am pretty sure we'll be ok, but I'm not going to take any game for granted.
Ok...maybe Furman...but that's the only one.
don't be a hate-abater?
oh no! my mouth is disconnected from the rest of my face!
I am a master at not abating hate.
Hehehe....asshats are funny.
That would make you very popular in some circles, THT.
I'd like an Auburn fedora.
Nobody could pull off an Auburn fedora.
A HABOTN sombrero would be muy caliente.
A couple of questions about the college pick em. Will we choose just the winner of the Auburn game or of several games? Will we choose them a week at a time or all at the beginning of the season? And I assume the debate was whether we would pick the straight up winner or something about who beats the spread?
Jet - I do believe I remember the Cruex day. Now you have me conjuring up other memories (unrelated to that).
Norm,
It still burns me to this day.
Cincy...
There will be several games to pick. It will be different set of games each week depending on the appeal.
How about an AU fez?
Favre is not an idiot. Brad Childress is the idiot
As long as someone is offering me employment, why is it bad of me to take them up on the offer? This is regardless of any records i hold are past performance. You can't bash a guy for saying yes to a job offer. More power to him, this is America.
And no, this is not tarnishing his legacy at all. This will be a footnote in his bio, like Michael Jordan and so many others have done. This won't make you forget the good years he had.
But we will pick just the games for that week, right? I don't have to pick the winners of each game for the whole season at the beginning of the season?
It will probably be the games of the top 25 AP teams every week. You'll make your picks every week. Word to the wise, watch out for the Thursday night games. They will bite you in the @$$chapeau if you let them slip by.
I love a challenge.
What do you guys think about the BC coaching situation?
Plus Brad Childress is funny looking. so he's ugly and stupid
I want a HABOTN visor. Hats make my head hot.
No Cincy, there will be a thurs or fri deadline for making each week's picks.
For j-z and Jet, un chapeau melon======>
Brad Childress does look like a very delicate man. I'll bet the players always think about how they can snap him like a twig.
...and quite possibly, this year's Oregon helmet design.
Favre has lost more games by being stupid and throwing too many INTs than he has won by playing well.
He holds those records because of longevity, not because he was the greatest ever. He certainly was not anywhere close to that. He has also thrown more interceptions than anyone else too.
He's overrated.
The only thing I will give him props on, is his toughness. And a lot of that came from ignorance and bravado.
At this point in his career, I think I'd rather trot out Sage Rosenfels than Favre. He'll cost the Vikes more games this year than he will win for them.
I left myself a note that said I had Favre permanently removed from my memory. It went on to say that I would be a much happier person for the procedure. I think I agree with myself.
Yeah, I think they should have tried Rosenfels too. I think Favre won't last the whole season. I do think you are downplaying how good he was in his prime, though. Certainly one of the top QBs of all time.
But still, for Favre, I can't blame him. I know if I were his age at my job, I wouldn't feel like retiring. That is tough for football players to take. So I don't blame Favre any.
I hate the Vikings anyway. They deserve Favre and his I'm too cool for phonics last name self.
Actually, it's all a ruse. Favre has one year of college eligibility left and he's coming to play for AU. Any takers?
I love that jhag is getting disenchanted ... over Favre!
Can Mr. Tate kill his own thread?
My sources tell me that jhag is over at The Hottest Southern Miss Blog on The Net and everyone agrees with him. They are also unified on Ray Guy for the NFL Hall of Fame, but split on Sam Dejarnette for USM HOF.
J-Z ...
Apparently he talked to one the Thread Death Panels, and they convinced him to end it.
Anyone see that the SEC backed off from their Twitter ban?
I think I'll still post some video of game footage from my phone to YouTube just to piss em off. I may even do play by okay via twitter for a game. You think they'd like that?
Jet you dirty little...
Aw, just yankin' your chain, RK, we know you're a Kodi Burns guy.
The hats are flippin' nice. I have to decide which one to get...or to go with the option of buying a bucket hat and getting Scottie to hook it up.
Just in case people didn't see this earlier...
Anyone seen this?
From mrsec.com
A couple of months ago, we told you that Ole Miss had reached an agreement to allow a television crew inside their program to create a reality series based on UM’s 2009 football campaign.
Yesterday, we told you that Houston Nutt had changed his mind, worried that the producers would need too much access to his team.
Back in mid-July, Nutt had this to say about the “Gridiron U.” project:
“I just feel pretty good — I’ve discussed things with Gridiron U. and our players. And we’ve got to be able to handle it. And hopefully we put blinders on and go to work. They will be here a total of about two and a half weeks; maybe three if they can get here the last week of workouts in the summer.”
Obviously, that’s all out the window now.
Enter Auburn’s Gene Chizik who apparently isn’t concerned about giving up too much access. It was announced yesterday that AU will be the subject of a weekly 30-minute reality series to air on CSS.
“Auburn Football: Every Day” is being produced by a company called Authentic Films, but the Auburn athletic department will also have a hand in things.
As we said of the Ole Miss idea back in July, this could prove to be a heckuva recruiting tool. And with the Tiger Prowl and Big Cat Weekend, it’s obvious that Chizik and crew know how to create buzz in the recruiting world.
One thing to note on Auburn’s decision to do reality and Ole Miss’ decision not to… these two coaches are in two completely different places.
Chizik is in his first year. He faces mid-level expectations this year. Quite simply, there’s very little to lose. The potential recruiting gains outweigh any potential negatives.
As for Nutt, well, there’s a whole bunch to lose. If Ole Miss’ players couldn’t deal with the spotlight, Nutt would be kicking himself.
And if the Rebels’ season goes down in flames, fans could kick Nutt for allowing a “distraction” to creep into his program.
Auburn looks confident in this move. Ole Miss looks a bit more timid in their decision. But Ole Miss has a whole lot more to lose than Auburn.
Jet's got me all figured out.
jet, when searching for me at the game, just look for my sweet HABOTN hat and this shirt.
Ehyou ...
T-Shirt Awesomeness!
Jet, when looking for me at the game, look for the hat, the shirt and a look of revenge on my face.
PUPPET HOUR! AHHHHH!!!!
'Bout time, Michael.
YOU ARE ABOUT TIME!
Where the heck is Harrison? That jerk hasn't made a Puppet Hour in quite some time.
you're a jerk
This is the worst puppet hour ever
Puppet Fight!
If by "jerk' you mean the common spicy Caribbean seasoning, by which you are saying I have a spicy personality, then yes, I am a jerk. Spicy to the core!
Understatement of the year, from RK's post:
Auburn athletic department will also have a hand in things.
OKAY! I'm back from the gym, hardcore lifting session to clear my mind of Favre, I just love the guy, sorry for getting rattled up...Your all the best and lets play some damn football
Naw, my dad told me about a Puppet Hour they had on HABOTN in the 60's that was even worse. A couple of Hotties died. My dad still lives with some guilt from that day. He wonders if he could have done more. I have always told him yes, you should have done more, and you should probably drink to forget about it. I think that was sound advice.
jhag returns with a vengeance!
At least the jerk reference isn't like yesterday when Steve dropped the phrase "circle jerk" on us.
Harrison's meaning of THT's #18-- 18- the number of beers I drink tailgatiing prior to game 1
Everybody was so free with themselves back then, Michael.
It was a different time.
Back from the gym, eh jhag... easily angered... gang, I think we need to have a roid intervention with jhag!
It'll be interesting to see if the athletic dept's hand in things causes the "reality" show to take some strange turns.
agreed Michael. bury those emotions deep down, where they belong. Cover with alcohol and strippers, repeat
Is it time to break out the new HABOTN Wellness policy, when do we start getting randomly tested for performance enhancers?
If you have to release some held up anger somewhere, you should always release it on someone who isn't at all at fault.
That's my advice for the day.
Maybe we'll see the bank examiners chasing Bobby around the practice field.
Like the cats that live at my house
As a member of the Hotties Union, I am against all drug testing. There is no problem here. This is just like when they took the cocaine away from us during Puppet Hours in the 80's. FREEDOM!
does huffing gas show up on a drug test? If not I'm all for testing
Though against drug testingo n HABOTN, I am all for drug guilt voting. Like if maybe three of us vote that jhag is on roids, he has to go to counseling or else we ignore him like he's fang. And if we catch him with roids, we make him do the entire cycle's worth right there in front of us to teach him a lesson, just like dads used to make their kids smoke the entire carton of cigarettes at once back in the old days. Teach him a lesson.
feng not fang. Though we would ignore fang too.
why don't we throw him in a lake and if he sinks he's not on roids and we'll leave him alone
Sounds good. Now the only thing left to do is form a HABOTN Lake Search Committee to fin the most central lake location so that all can attend. I am guessing it will be somewhere in the Atlantic thanks to Aeronaut.
As long as there isn't an alcohol test if we go 5-7 again, because I'll get a lifetime ban.
Unless we're testing for people who don't drink when a disasterous 5-7 season comes along, then I'll be fine.
The Atlantic is not a lake Michael
Harrison, the Atlantic is huge. There has to be a lake in there somewhere. There are like 1,000 lakes in Minnesota, and it's only two thirds the size of the Atlantic!
rk, the Hotties Union could support reverse alcohol testing during a 5-7 season with a minimum BAC allowed. Someone form a HABOTN BAC Committe to figure out what that limit should be.
Never trust a puppet.
MJT OUT!
I say if you can still post legibly then your BAC is not high enough for a 5-7 season...although some on here don't really post legibly while perfectly sober, so nevermind. (yes, I am often one of them)
Sadly, my head is too large for hats and I look like a moron in them.
Are t-shirts still available?
I'm going to be a "C" man.
Can't wait to see the hat!!
Sup all..
Tick...... TOck....... we are almost at kickoff
Kickoff or liftoff, DL?
Just putting this out there- If anyone has some tickets for this season (season tickets or individual games), I would be very interested in 2 of them.
When I don't have tickets, I just keep walking around the stadium. Near the end of the 3rd quarter, you can just walk right in.
I love spending time with my family, Habotn, Auburn Football, playing golf, hunting ducks, Manchester United and Disney. I hate UAT and Bret Favre.
Eddie,
I have been to MANU stadium in golly ole england... we had business meeting in the venue and got to tour the field and locker rooms... it was really cool.. you would be shocked how basic the locker rooms were.. like grade schools stuff...
DL- that's pretty awesome stuff there. My brother has also been, but not inside the locker room. Do you have any photos?
Yes, but I will have to find them... it was in my transition stage between film and digital (1992ish)...
I will look this weekend.
Please share if you find them. I would love to see them.
Cotton- there are tons of tickets still left on Auburn's webiste. Even season ticket books still available
So, the NCAA is investigating Bryce Brown and his amateur status. Was he the player who had the "mentor" handling his recruitment? Seems like bad timing for UT.
Scottie B... you would give FUBU a run for their money!! Look for my fax in the morning!
Brett Farve... I am convinced that anything that gets too much public attention automatically gets scorned by the masses. Farve is still one of the top 10 most interesting QBs to watch in this league and and the 2nd most exciting on the Vikings team (albeit I can probably only name 3).
AU Football reality show is a good thing as long as the camera is on Trooper more than Chizik. On second thought that might be a bad thing. Cant have the HC getting overshadowed by an assistant.
howdy Harrison, DL, et al. Hope y'all are having a peachy Habotn evening.
substance (just to be on the safe side)
i'm still sitting at work THT, but I'll be gone soon
great puppet hour.
I'm sitting on my bed, but MrsTHT will have me at work soon.
I regret that I waited so long to be a Hottie. I missed all the great violence and cocaine from the 60s and 80s. I wonder what Habotn '70s were like.
No one remembers the 70's. Everyone was stoned.
Turn the page !
I thought I smelled something.
