Practice notes, 8/26
Hey everyone. We'll do this in two stages.
STAGE ONE
STAGE ONE
- Craig Stevens said he's been impressed with how LB Adam Herring has been playing. The sophomore participated in a full practice Tuesday for the first time since November.
- Tyrik Rollison was back at practice today.
- Gus Malzahn is refusing to discuss who all is working at that "3" position that Mario Fannin allegedly owns. "We've got three or four other guys that will be in that role. And it goes back to what they do best. And really, I don't want to be real specific because that will have a lot to do with what role they play in certain situations."
- Ted Rüf, aka Roof, said he's been impressed with walk-on LB Wade Christopher. ``He's a guy that always knows what to do and he's always available and always willing. You ask, 'Can you do this?' He says, 'Yeah coach I got it, I know what to do.' As a coach, you have a lot of confidence and respect kids like that."
- Stevens on TB Onterio McCalebb: ``It's hard trying to catch him but once you get him, you know he don't feel you because he's light. The problem is just catching him. If you catch him, you'll put something on him."
STAGE TWO - Ted Roof on being physical vs. not getting injured: ``I think we've struck a pretty good balance, but we're not where we need to be yet from that standpoint. We're a work in progress there and that's something we have to continue to work on. And that's certainly a point of emphasis."
- Roof said he has the defensive depth chart 91.3% finished. ``Things clear up, but there's different situations that come and go by packages. You don't want to ever have people feel like they don't have a chance to compete and earn playing time. We look at all the tape from all the kids, whether they're scouts or whoever, so that's something we keep a beat on."
- Big Snacks Berry on Auburn's 2009 offense vs. its 2008 offense: ``It's more of a run offense. We're still running a fast tempo. Last year, we started off throwing the ball. Now we're straight down running the ball and then we'll take some shots (deep) on you."
- Malzahn on Onterio McCalebb: ``He can be a one-play drive type guy if we can get him in the right situation."

When I was at Troy I worked a part time job for a little while at Hephzibah Baptist Church for a preacher whose last name was Amen.
Just another Random Monica Moment for ya.
I thought I smelled something... love that new page smell!
Medieval - That's where I think we should go on 'em if at all possible
looking at my id pic... I am thinking about growing the fro back out....
Monica was it prounounced the same way? That is pretty cool. Like working for a man that preacher named Creflo Dollar that preaches a prosperity gospel.
I think you can do it, D, but you gotta have that sweet big-collared shirt to make it work.
LOL ... D... I thought that was a young pic of Barak Obama. lol
LOL BigCAt -exactly
Yep, they called him Brother Amen.
He was very....interesting...
He also fancied himself an artist and had a potters wheel in his basement. He also collected (or whatever you call it) saltwater fish.
I'm sure I could rustle one up somewhere, Jet...
You are right J-Z, frantic pace. Too much for the old man. Time for lights out on Sycamore Drive. I hope each of you have a peaceful night and you awake to orange and blue sunshine. May you have inner peace, have those that you love close to you and may your aggravations in your daily tasks be few. I ask God to bless each of you as he continues to bless me. I ask him to bless our great country and protect us from those that would do us harm. I ask that he continue to let freedom ring from sea to shining sea. I ask him to keep his hand upon my heroes serving all over this globe. I ask him to protect them, keep them safe from harm and send them back to their families soon. I ask that God bless our beloved Auburn, let her continue to shine in her glory. Please also keep us true and faithful Auburn women and men. So good night to all of my new found Auburn family. I send you my Auburn love. Goodnight.
bigcat,
I had a fro that could rival anybody's when I was growing up...
My hari was so big when I was little that my head wouldn't fit in the stroller...
*hair that is...
Goodnight, IV, sweet dreams.
I bet that was a sight to see! LOL
Amen, IV. Amen.
Geez, I wasn't gone that long and you flip the page on me.
Goodnight and sweet dreams, IV.
I was a cute baby...
Not sure what happened since then...
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much, IV.
I'm with IV. 5am hits pretty quick here on the east coast. Nite to All. War Eagle!!! Soon to be in single digit days!!
g'nite 'otties
Big-time lightning and wind about to kick up in East Vaughngomery.
Hey, Aero, you still here?
I "dated" a girl whose brother's middle name was Leviticus. Seriously...
My schedule says I'll be at the WVU game. Also IB, at least one more home game, @UGa, and at least couple of other SEC games in which Auburn is not participating....add into that a bachelor party in Vegas and a NYE wedding, and this should be a very cool next several months for me.
Jet you just freak me out with that talk.
Mon,
Did you see my post about coming by our tailgate at the WVU game? I hope you and Luv and your families can come by. Hated we didn't get to meet when you came to bham, but would love to have you come by if it works.
I could set up a tent and preach some of my favorite sermons to further freak out Monica.
Jet,
This weather is crazy right now. Ryan Rd is takin a beatin...
No, I didn't see that! Sorry Cincy.
It will be me and my sister Dirty Diana. I know Luv and crew tailgate so we'll start there and see if we can make it work to get by your spot. Thanks so much for the invitation!
I hate Office 2007...just thought I would share.
(Cue all the Mac lovers to deride me)
If not at the tailgate, Cincy I will be in the ham from the Thur before the game until the Monday after so maybe somewhere in there we can work it out.
It's a night game, so we will start about 8 am and go until TIger Walk. I hope they haven't messed up our tailgating spot.
Is Office 2007 made in tuscaloosa? If not, then you are diluting your hate, and that's not permissible.
My old church is on Ryan Road. Hope it's ok. I'm still paying for the new building. Guess I should check the radar and see if it's heading our way.
Good, maybe we can make it work.
Where are you again Cincy? I'll ask the hubby.
There's a lot of estrogen in the room tonight.
wow, Monica being all non-commital to cincy's tailgate invite.
Is all of the bad weather down Montgomery way? We are still and quiet in the ham.
Kristina,
We have set up behind Miller Hall for the past 3 years or so. On the Dormitory Drive side.
I totally understand the tailgate noncommittal. When you are at a game at the invite of someone, you don't make plans to go off and see someone else. Or something like that, but I know what she means.
Dirty Diana could use some of your preachin', Jet.
--->>> isn't she pretty
Peter do you need another reminder?
Well, Cincy, the hubby has apparently fallen asleep. Want me to ask him tomorrow and shoot you an email?
That would be great, Kristina. We have always loaded up Tom's parents minivan with all the stuff and parked it behind Miller the night before. The next day all we have to cart over is the food. But every year they take away more and more parking. We park on Dormitory behind Lowder (but not in the Lowder parking lot.) We are going to go over Thursday night next week so we can find another place if we have to.
hey, I'm just commenting from the stands. I didn't publicly, but gracefully decline anyone's invitation :-P
(not that anyone here would dare invite me to their tailgate for me to not commit to...)
CLOCKING IN
Well, anyone is welcome. I just feel a little weird asking other women's husbands to come to my tent.
Peter you enjoy being rude so stop whining about people thinking you're rude.
Alan ...
In Deer Creek, lots of sound and fury ... some rain.
I'm headin' to bed, HOT ONES.
No, you don't want me there. Inviting me to a tailgate is like inviting j-z to a bonfire.
I wasn't whining. I was warning.
...and if I'm the only one not minding manners around here, It'll be the first time.
Cincy, you aren't too far away from us. We are in front of Old Foy.
Cincy. You are the perfect southern lady, by the way. Very impressive for a yankee.
Wow...walk away for five minutes and come back to this. Save the hate for the dark pink wearing cousin humping infidels. Life's too short. Yada yada yada...and all that jazz. Oooh...show tunes. Let's go!
J-Z, there is something very very...."off" about you.
sup hotties, sure is beautiful down on the coast tonight. Had to take my beautiful wife out tonight for scoring the free HD receiver and upgrade. $199 my rear end. I guess it's all about when your contract rolls over. Tell them you have other options and they'll promptly "see what they can do" once you start weighing your options with them on the telephone.
Hey B,
What good stuff have ya cooked lately? I called Direct TV the other day and just told them I was checking my options. They lowered my bill by $10 a month. Never hurts to ask.
Kristina,
Great spot. Parking is the killer.
you are suddenly filled with the love, JZ - I can't keep up with your moods!
Peter,
Thanks, I think :)
Not with the proper pass....
I'm PMS'ing. Ignore me.
Yeah, but we can't all be so lucky. Good for you!
ahhh "the proper pass"
Some good creole succotash, some smoked poblano and chicken pasta. Pretty much enjoying the lapse in business. Been nice not to sweat my jacket through every night. Got some fresh yellow tuna today. I guess they spotted a 14 ft great white in the gulf of one of the oil platforms that has been following the tuna. My wife made "whoopie pies" tonight to celbrate my joy over the the free HD upgrade.
smoked poblano - you are a good, good man
Mrs. BinOBA made Whoopie.
Things were sure hopping the night we were there. All of that sounds wonderful. I'm going to Fairhope in the next month or so, we might have to drive over...
I still can't believe they took away the CDV parking lot. But I guess the students need to park somewhere...
That's not the first time this year for the great white sighting is it, Bin?
How does one roll a poblano?
you gotta break it up jz
Where have you been lately? Haven't seen you on here much.
Greg made some poblano magic a couple of months ago.
gotta rip, wife wants to wathc yes man
Hubby has left me and headed to bed, guess I should follow. 5:30 am and the elliptical come very early. Sweet dreams, hotties!
El TORO means
THE BULL
Time for an ambien with a nyquil chaser. Good night all.
Todd will be my husband. Take it to the house.
Jhag is goin CRAZY
Pardon me for tuning in too late and not nearly often enough. That equation equals threadkiller.
ew.....who farted?
First order of business is a post-script for Kickoff Kountdown Day 12 - Somewhere along the way I accidently removed a name from the list and didn't realize it until today. So a belated Day 12 Honorable Mention to Caleb "Tex" Warrington, native of Dover, Delaware, and ALL-AMERICAN center for Auburn in 1944. He was a one-hit wonder as that was the only year he lettered at Auburn. Difficult times, those war years.
Now on to the business at hand.
T-MINUS 9, YES NINE DAYS TIL KICKOFF!!!!!!!!!
Can you believe we've made it to single digits?!?!
All-SEC honor or Fan Favorite? I'll let you, the fans, decide.
HAPPY POWELL-DAVIS DAY!!!
Tommie Powell - Greenville, AL, native lettered in 1983-86 and made First Team ALL-SEC Free Safety in 1985, a year in which he led the Tigers with 6 INTs. His biggest game was a 3 pick effort in the 1985 blowout loss in Knoxville.
Tristan Davis - East Point, GA, native who changed positions more than he did jersey numbers (the latter from 27 to 9). He played safety, kick returner, running back, and probably 5 or 6 other positions I don't recall. Tristan was a huge fan favorite who exploded onto the Auburn scene in 2005 with a 162 yard rushing game on just 8 carries against the Kentucky Wildcats. His career 27 yard average on kickoff returns (min. 25 returns) is an Auburn record. He had an ~97 yard kickoff return against Arkansas which I think was negated by non-contributory penalty. Unfortunately, his full football potential was never realized at Auburn due to repeated injuries. But we still love him!
Honorable Mention: Roger Pruett - Place kicker and punter who lettered in 1971-73. The first two years he backed up Gardner Jett and David Beverly at those positions. He earned his 15 minutes of fame as the team's leading punter and scorer in 1973, piling up 17 PATs and 4 FGs as part of an offensive jugger...NOT!
Mention:
Anthony Mix - Bay Minette native and sometime wide receiver, some time tight end, and occasional kick returner. Mix had a great play in the 2004 game at Mississippi State; he broke free from a standing room only crowd of defenders and then outsprinted all of them to the end zone on the 58 yard scoring play. You can read about his high school and early Auburn exploits here and pro efforts and alleged misdeeds here.
Ken Alvis - Demopolis native and Free Safety had two INT returns for touchdowns in 1994 as a redshirt freshman, including the first of FIVE 4th quarter INTs Auburn collected vs Jamie Howard and LSU in that famous 1994 Auburn win. BTW, what is it about LSU and their doofus play calling? Auburn's offense was absolutely pitiful in that game, gaining only one first down in the second half, and scoring only 3 points the entire game. But Auburn's defense outscored the LSU offense 27-26 on that bizarre day. 1994 was Alvis's only year of competition at Auburn. He subsequently transferred to Troy, never to be heard from again. Ok, I'm just kidding. I just don't have any knowledge of his LAA (life after Auburn). JayGT is going to have fun fixing this one, btw.
come on folks, it's time to RISE AND SHINE!!! We've got a game to get ready for in 9 days!!!
YUMMY!!! I got to lick the coffee cake batter bowl and beaters. See what you miss when you sleep late!
Good morning, Hotties!! WOW! Single digits!! Can you believe it?! I have to get out an AU Marching Band cd and listen to the fight song in my car on my way to and from work to REALLY get me fired up!!
I hunger for carnage. I could watch the ElToro video all day.
9 FREAKIN DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!!!!
I HATE BAMA!!!!!!!!!!!
OUT WITH THE ORANGE AND IN WITH THE BLUE!!!!!!!
Morning hotties....
I may be wearing an eye patch later today... pirate style... That should help my driving skills tremendously!
We made a spot to collect and share our Auburn memories. Check it out and share. For those of you asking me for the collection of IV's stories, this is where they will all be located eventually.
Auburn Tiger Tales
Good blog Mon.
Here is Sensi's rant that I agree with on bringing back Blue...
Ring in the New, Bring Out the Blue
Ken Alvis- So much potential, only to be squandered.
I enjoy wearing orange as much as the next person... but I agree... I like wearing blue to home games...
g'mornin 'otties.
This Is SPARTAAAA !!!
(300)
I do not, however, like wearing blue to games in early september when it is already hot as hell...

Can you believe it's going to get into the 40's up here this Sunday???
I purchased the official game shirt for the season ... it is an orange polo shirt with navy blue stripes.
Wear orange! Wear blue! Wear white!
Our forefathers fired from behind rocks and trees at Concord and Lexington, turned back the bloody British at New Orleans, outlasted the Germans in trenches, then stormed Normandy and scaled Iwo Jima for the right for you to have the right to wear blue or orange.
Sorry, i'm jonesing for fall, but i'm not jonesing for the 40's. That's crazy!!!! Bye Summer, hello winter???
Thanks Saban, I mean Jet.
I'll take all the 40s I can get. Love me some football weather.
Thanks for calling me out on being fat, eddie... I'm working on the in shape thing...
I'll take the 40's all day long during football season!
D. Miller, me too! Football weather is supposed to be cool! Not hotter than five Hades.
Football begins TONIGHT in the Gump ... STJ vs. TPS ... Stewardess will be color guardin' it with the Mighty Marchin' Trojans.
Can't wait.
D.Miller- I appologize, that was not my intent.
just giving you a hard time eduardo... i didn't really take it that way...
I must have missed it where Coach Chizik said we were going to have win a lot of games in the last 2 minutes?
morning. a week from today we'll have real live SEC football on ESPN! South Carolina vs. NC State. yippee!
Cool, i'm overly sensitive about that sense I once was huge.
To throw everything out of whack, I would really love to see Auburn in one of two home jersey's in the future:
Jersey A:
Navy Blue Pants, Orange Jersey and Navy Blue Helmet.
Jersey B:
Navy Blue Pants, Navy Blue Jersey and Navy Blue Helmet.
Working in the equipment room, I was able to see Navy Blue Pants prototype and a navy blue helmet prototype. I NEVER saw an Orange Game Jersey, just QB Practice jerseys. We have 8 homes games a year, why can't we change it up for 2 of them a year, an OOC game and an SEC Game.
Eddie, did I read that wrong? You do not like orange in the stands but you want orange jerseys??
Eddie, i think you've lost your marbles.
i'd take navy pants & orange jerseys any day before navy helmets.
i hate UK's blue helmets and i went to school there. the white ones are just so freakin' nice. i prefer our all whites anyways. call me crazy.
I will personally find you and pinch your ear if I ever see the team in either option A or B, Eddie!! Both sound AWFUL!
dark jersey/dark pants looks particularly DII - yuck
I'm old, set in my ways and I don't like change. I love the uniforms just the way are. Why mess with a good thing?
Happy Jeff Klein day. Jeff Klein who helped make Deon Grant an All American in 1999 by handing him 3 interceptions, including the 1st play from scrimmage in Knoxville.
With you Luv, all the way....Do NOT mess with the unis.
Add my vote to Monica, Luv and Kristina - DO NOT mess with the uniforms.
I descend from Mount Sinai with two tablets of stone in my hands (I took good notes) ...
Tablet One: Auburn fans may wear any combination of the appropriately tinted navy blue, burnt orange and white they desire.
Tablet Two: Mess with the uniform and I'll send angels in flaming fire.
What do all you Hotties think of the new AU license plate?
i think we have the best looking uni - i know i'm biased, but i really do
I haven't seen the new license plate.
Check your email, Monica, so you can give your two cents on it.
Tradition is bamerish, in with new out with the old.
The navy blue helmets are sweet. You would have to have seen them to appreciate them.
Orange is my favorite color, but I also love BLUE. Why discriminate against Blue. It's done nothing wrong. I'm all for orange jerseys and changing it up.
Don't get me wrong, I love our home uni's, and suggest they stay for a majority of the games, but what is the big deal in changing it up? You can't tell me it wouldn't excite the players. You know it would. Our away Uni's are my favorite. Too many people set in their ways when it comes to uniforms and "tradition". By the way, Auburn used to have different uni's back in the days. I wonder if the school got as much flack for changing them up to what they are now back then?
I like the new license plates. Of course, I just got my new old license plate last week. I am thinking of spending another $50 and going ahead and getting a new one.
oooooooooooooooo I LOVE the new license plate!!!
So, I guess you guys haven't seen the new prototype helmet design?
---------->
Thanks for sending that to me, Luv.
Gotta run. See y'all later!
Tradition is not bammerish.
D.Miller- That's funny. It's the bengals in Auburn. I do not like that one. I wish I had a pic of the Navy Blue one.
I have seen the navy one, Eddie... I agree... I think it would look very nice with our home uni's
You can't change the storm trooper uni though.
The all white Uni's are the best, period.
ALL WHITE AU UNIFORMS = HAPPY EDDIE & SCOTTIE! :)
Luv- It is if you cling to it. Tiger Walk is a more recent thing in history that has become tradition. Tradition is something that evolves IMO. Openess has gotten us to things that we now consider Tradition, such as the Eagle Flying before the game.
speaking of tradition, i am dying for a large Toomer's cherry lemondade. yummy! next friday it is ON!
i go for the limeade. Yummy!!! On A-Day Saturday I got one that was just as good as those James Echols used to make. I was in heaven.
i must say i make a mean glass of homemade lemonade myself. you can barely tell the difference. mmmmm.......
Tar Heel, throw your two cents on the uniforms into the pot.
I like tradition and wouldn't be averse to team occasional wearing of former unis, i.e. the navy pants, orange jerseys, and navy helmets. I think that used to be an official AU uniform. But the orange jerseys and white pants, I don't know if that was ever official, and if it was, I hereby declare it null & void and stricken from the book.
yes, Luv, I was reading your mind ;-)
IF they break out orange jerseys, they have to do so with navy pants....
THT- I agree for different reasons. I think it his half butt if you wear white pants and orange jerseys. I'm not a fan there. Georgia should have worn black pants to go with the black jerseys, that would have been so much cooler than the famous "silver britches", black jersey and red helmet.
if anyone thinks the Chiz is going to do anything to mess with AU's tradition you're nuts. the man can't stand a crooked helmet, much less changing our uni's.
Question D.Miller about HABOTN pickers:
I thought we were going to pick against the spread, but when I went to make my picks, I didn't see any spreads listed. Did I miss something?
9 days until kickoff!
Game Day Forecast
Partly Cloudy
HighLow

And a question for Scottie B - have the caps gone out yet, or do I need to be patient?
Tommyd just full of questions this morning
Good morning Kathy! See if you can flip that temp to 78, then subtract 18. That would be sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!
WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO FOOTBALL!!!
Nine days till we see some ludacris speed football domination!AUsome!!
Spreads won't be up until Monday or Tuesday. They will then change daily, so you have to go back and check the night before the game.
Great work on #9 THT
Eddie,
Please describe your rendition of the navy helmet. I simply cannot imagine a navy helmet. Is it plain with just numbers like some ugly ones I know. Solid, striped, two-toned, logos??? Give!
Thanks j-z
Morning Hotties - another long and boring day followed by a red-eye flight home is on tap for me.
IV, J-Z & whoever, since the game is practically in my backyard, I'll be at the Prattville game this weekend too. I'll be the good looking guy who may, or may not have his wife and small son in tow (8:30 start is pretty late for a boy not yet 3, come to think of it, it's pretty late for me).
Keep Hate Alive
thanks, mytommyd
btw, did you make that same post (8:12) last year at this time?
Sure .... sure I did. I'm certain of it.
Missinit- The version I saw was a sparkly navy blue helmet and it looked dark navy blue. It had the same setup as our current helmet, except colors were different. The AU Logos was an Orange AU (Instead of Blue) with White Border. The center strip was White instead of Blue and the two strips that ran alongside the main center strip were Orange instead of Blue. It looked really good. I was very much impressed. Would have love for their to have been more than one at the time so i could get one myself.
What is the id and password for the football pickum?
THT I can't remember what I posted about 15 minutes ago much less last year. But that'd be pretty cool if I did!
pretty cool if I posted not if I remembered, although that'd be nice if I could remember stuff, too.
I just heard that Larry Blakeney will be honored at halftime during the LA Tech game. Anybody have any details?
It's CFB fan-day at work today. Us Auburn peeps are representin' hardcore but the UGAs stand out like sore thumbs with their bright red and the barking. The one Bammer we have didn't dress up.
THT, good work as always. I had never heard of either of those guys.
Sean- Ignore the leghumpers, they are not trained to be indoors.
Norm, I will be there and I am glad you mentioned the game time, I had been wondering about that since they told me when I purchased my ducats at the HS that it was the second game of a DH and would start after the end of the first one. Well duh, I think I could almost figure that out. Good football team, but I wonder about the teachers. Do you know if the the team that is listed on the tickets as Byrnes playing in the first game is the S. C. team that Marcus Lattimore plays for? If it is, I will get there early and catch some of that game.
mytommyd - your 8:12 post is what a lot of us were expecting last year. I think a lot of us are having similar pre-season expectations from the offense this year. Please, oh please don't let the results be as offensive.
What color was the facemask eddie?
This comment has been removed by the author.
You know TarHeel, I felt that way last year with the exception of what I saw in the practice videos that JGT shot last year. Atleast this year they are actually practicing at speed. Couldn't figure out the little tippee toe thing the receivers and QB's were doing either especially that close to the game. I'm sure there was some kind of technique thing he was trying to get done, but umm maybe a little practice like you play thing would help?!?
SIAP:
Former UK basketball coach BILLY GILLISPIE arrested for DUI after leaving a golf course after 2AM.
According to lex18.com
IV - I'm not 100%, but I believe it is.
Mrtommy- Sorry left that out, it remained the same, Navy Blue.
THT,
Thank you for your 'jersey countdown'. Because of you my AU football history is a little deeper.
It also brought back many memories as I've seen a many of them on the playing field in my day, which led to remembering the fun I had on football weekends, which led to remembering what I didn't remember on football weekends........
LOL @ Billy Gillespie.
I am a tradition guy myself. Coach Jordan created the game uniforms for the most part that the team wears today. There have been minor modifications. The unis that they wore before CRJ were just okay IMHO. But you mention blue helmets and I think of the ones that Fla. used to wear and they were horrible. I do think that the navy blue helmets that Eddie described sounds intriguing. I would have to see them before I could say I could them much love. The only change I might could go with would be navy blue pants with the current white travel jersey but too many of you think that the all white road unis are your favorites so I say no drops, no change.
i read this morning where Ryan Massakowsi (former QB recruit) was not able to win the back-up QB job at Kentucky so it looks like he'll redshirt.
Taking five for some grub. Monica you have mail.
I too am a big fan of the all-whites.
PF IN THE single digits HOUSE!
the road unis are definitel tough.
Good morning, PF!
Tradition is for bammers? Really? Come on...that's just ridiculous.
Yes, you can add new things, but not just for the sake of adding something new.
I know that y is around here somewhere
Eddie, I have to agree with Kristina on this one.
anyone read what they're saying on the LaTech blogs/boards?
PF, I've been over there and I've seen some ridiculous predictions thrown about. I know they had a better year but they still lost 4 or 5 games.
I have just spent the last hour looking at old Gloms online. So much fun! Anyway, every team I saw from 1933 until now had dark jerseys, light pants and white helmets. Well, except for the helmets that were leather. I haven't been able to find any where they wore navy pants or navy helmets. It is very interesting looking at these pics though.
I believe at some point, one offered the notion that "Tradition is Bammerish." I believe it was Eduardo, in whom I hold in the highest regard among all HOTTIES.
I respectfully disagree. The tradition of entitlement is Bammerish. Auburn has traditions we all embrace -- Tiger Walk, a Toomer's Corner rolling, etc. And we should embrace them.
As to the uniform, it marks us. It's our identifier. To me, those that monkey with the uniforms are searching for an indentify becuase they have none.
An all-white look for some home games? That's cool with me because the white on white look is classy and it is ours.
Using a uniform change to excite the player strikes me as giving a child candy after 8 p.m. It'll make 'em happy, but creates more problems than positive benefits. Now we get stuck in the rut of having to use it as a "motivational tool." Play all the music in the locker room and even over the loud speakers that stokes them up, but those white helmets, navy or white jerseys, and white pants have stood the test of time for nearly 60 years.
I've said enough.
Ok. Ok. I'm up.
You've said enough because you've said all that needs to be said on the subject, Jet. Well done, sir.
Dadgum, wrong stinkin account again. I should just add the same picture to that account and then it wouldn't matter...
Wow, look what I just found.
Orange jerseys
I have absolutely ZERO tolerance for using uni change for motivational purposes. That's the job of the coach, not the clothes.
However, I would not mind, perhaps at HC or against other cupcakes when motivation would not be a perceived reason for uni change, if we tried a former OFFICIAL AU uniform look.
I agree with Jet, no gimmick jerseys. If it takes gimmicks to motivate players, then you aren't working them hard enough.
I see the page a' comin'...
Comin' round the bend...
Cincy, I think that is a great example of why not to mess with the unis.
Sorry, link not working. It takes you to the cover of the Glom. But if you are interested, go to Athletics [age 239. They are wearing a very ugly shade of orange jerseys with black stripes on the sleeves and black pants. This was the 1943 team.
400
Orange Jerseys.....NICE
I have told you before...Shut it, faker.
