Practice notes, 8/26
Hey everyone. We'll do this in two stages.
STAGE ONE
STAGE ONE
- Craig Stevens said he's been impressed with how LB Adam Herring has been playing. The sophomore participated in a full practice Tuesday for the first time since November.
- Tyrik Rollison was back at practice today.
- Gus Malzahn is refusing to discuss who all is working at that "3" position that Mario Fannin allegedly owns. "We've got three or four other guys that will be in that role. And it goes back to what they do best. And really, I don't want to be real specific because that will have a lot to do with what role they play in certain situations."
- Ted Rüf, aka Roof, said he's been impressed with walk-on LB Wade Christopher. ``He's a guy that always knows what to do and he's always available and always willing. You ask, 'Can you do this?' He says, 'Yeah coach I got it, I know what to do.' As a coach, you have a lot of confidence and respect kids like that."
- Stevens on TB Onterio McCalebb: ``It's hard trying to catch him but once you get him, you know he don't feel you because he's light. The problem is just catching him. If you catch him, you'll put something on him."
STAGE TWO - Ted Roof on being physical vs. not getting injured: ``I think we've struck a pretty good balance, but we're not where we need to be yet from that standpoint. We're a work in progress there and that's something we have to continue to work on. And that's certainly a point of emphasis."
- Roof said he has the defensive depth chart 91.3% finished. ``Things clear up, but there's different situations that come and go by packages. You don't want to ever have people feel like they don't have a chance to compete and earn playing time. We look at all the tape from all the kids, whether they're scouts or whoever, so that's something we keep a beat on."
- Big Snacks Berry on Auburn's 2009 offense vs. its 2008 offense: ``It's more of a run offense. We're still running a fast tempo. Last year, we started off throwing the ball. Now we're straight down running the ball and then we'll take some shots (deep) on you."
- Malzahn on Onterio McCalebb: ``He can be a one-play drive type guy if we can get him in the right situation."

I think FSJ's team need to go to those nice Silver Bama jerseys you can get a Walmart.
This was not an attractive shade of orange. With the black it kind of looked like Halloween.
IV - something just clicked with me (and I think we all know how painful that can be), does your son like to cook, live in the general vicinity of Saturday's game and recently popped in here for a post?
RK...only if I can get the one that says ALABAMA across the shoulders...and with the mad elephant logo on the arms.
Thanks Eddie...I can visualize that. Sounds pretty cool.
The thing I like most about our uni is the stripes. The stripes on the pants really make big thighs look even bigger to me. Just don't mess with the stripes...don't make 'em wider, don't make 'em narrower, just leave 'em alone.
I don't even mind an orange jersey if they get the orange right. A true burnt orange and NOT the orange they use for making all the AU t-shirts, (of which I have many.) Seriously, now, that is not the right orange!
One of the real hangups I have is the shade of orange that is used in all the AU products. What is so difficult about burnt orange?
Anyone else think we should go back to white shoes?
Norm,
That's him. How do you know him?
FSJ, that should be your new jerseys.
Ole Miss game would be perfect for those throw back unis, cincy
It would be a treat!
I'm not backing down. I'm not suggesting we change jersey's for the players, i'm just saying that they would like it. I'll never understand the back lash that comes for suggesting that type of change to our uniform. Sorry, like I was trying to point out, Tradition is what you make of it, if you want to embrace something, you will, if not, you won't. There just has to be open mindedness in trying different things. I do think Auburn fans hide behind it just as much as some other fans. Jet, me and you will forever disagree about this issue. I respect the way that some feel about it, but to just say no to everything because that's not Auburn, is just sometimes foolish. Do you consider the Eagle flying a tradition? Do you consider Aubie as part of the tradition? Do you consider Tiger Walk a tradition? All those things have come about the latter half of Auburn's football existence.
J-Z - I've met him a handful of times. He and I share some friends who also live around here.
Missinit- I think that Under Armour has come out with the correct Burnt Orange this year in the Coach's polo shirt I saw at the bookstore. Looked much better than previous years to me.
Well, not "here" since currently "here" is California. But "here" being my home not far from Prattville's Saturday game.
when did leggings leave the scene?
Again, I view changing the uniforms as change just for the sake of change and see no real merit behind it. Aubie, the Eagle flying and Tiger Walk all contribute to what Auburn already was and build on that.
New thread UP.
