Days to kickoff: 4

Our Tar Heel Tiger's Auburn Minute is brought to you by the number:

Chris Shelling: Columbus, Ga.; CB/SS 1991-94; ALL-SEC in 1993 and ALL-AMERICAN in 1994; tied for 7th place with 11 career interceptions, Chris' interception return average of 21.3 yards trails only David Langner.

Shelling led AU with 4 picks in 1992. His most outstanding game was vs LSU in 1994. Shelling had 18 tackles, recovered a fumble for a touchdown, and made a game-saving interception in the end zone with 15 seconds remaining to preserve a 30-26 win. For that performance, Chris was named SEC Player of the Week. He was also one of three finalists in 1994 for the Jim Thorpe Award.

Junior Rosegreen : Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; S 2001-04; ALL-SEC and ALL-AMERICAN in 2004; led the team with 6 interceptions in 2004. Rosegreen matched a 65-year-old SEC record and set an Auburn record with four intercepted passes off Volunteer quarterbacks Erik Ainge and Brent Schaeffer during Auburn's blowout 34-10 win in Knoxville in 2004. Both teams were ranked in the Top 10 entering the game.

* David Beverly: Sweetwater, Ala.; P 1970-72; ALL-SEC First Team punter in 1971; NFL career spanned 7 seasons with the Oilers and Packers.

* David Irons: Dacula, Ga.; CB 2004-06; David won a JUCO national championship with the Butler County (Kansas) Community College Grizzlies. He enrolled at Auburn in January 2004 and earned a starting position at cornerback during spring practice. He missed the entire 2004 season due to a knee injury. He had two productive years at corner in 2005 & 2006, tying for team lead in interceptions as a senior.

She is ok right now. My wife and I are kind of in a fog. We went Friday to have tubes put in her ears and then were hit with the fact that she had some symptoms of CF in her sinuses. So we had to think about that all weekend and then went for the test yesterday that came back positive.

We will be learning a lot over the next month or so.

Glad to hear that your wife is on the mend. I hope that she continues to make a strong come back just like the AUBURN TIGERS are going to do starting Sat. No drops, WAR EAGLE

Jhag ...

You need me to teach the Good Book to your class.

Lesson One -- Respect Your Elders.

"And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

"And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

"And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria." -- 2 Kings 2:23-25 (KJV).

We've not but I read the other kid plans to surrender. This is a good sign for Mr. Smith. Whether or not it affects his standing with the Chiz remains to be seen.

10:15 AM
Blogger boknowsbo said...

Jonesy, I was in the student section and don't recall that chant. Could have been the bourbon, but I'd like to think we had enough class not to cheer for a potential serious injury of an opposing player.

My proudest moment did come that year in Knoxville. Probably pinpoint it on RB Slamhammering Jason Allen's helmet off for a TD.

10:16 AM
Blogger boknowsbo said...

Jonesy, nevermind I see what you mean. It was the bourbon, after all.

Man that picture (rosegreen > brown) brings back alot of memories...Auburn v UGA 2004 was one the best days ever.

The high tide of Auburn football of the last 20 years.

That AU v UGA game was one of the best games I can ever remember seeing. Definitely makes my top 5 list.

10:21 AM

The last 20 years? The 1989 Iron Bowl still falls under the last 20 year umbrella. So that one will still be # 1.

I concur WERK, I grew up in Nashvegas surrounded by UT fans. Half my graduating class went to UTK. Trust me, both of those games were huge to me.

Going back to the Eric Smith thing for a second. Can both of the boys decide to drop charges and this thing be over? Or now that the charges are filed do they have to go to court?

Congrats, Pete, on the new job!

Somebody mentioned Jimmy Warren on a previous thread. When I was at AU we played a charity soccer game against former AU football players. At one point, I was looking back for a pass and accidently ran into Jimmy Warren. It was like running into a brick wall. He didn't move, but I certainly went down. Incidently, about the only good soccer players among the former football players were Byron Franklin and one of the former kickers (can't remember which one).

Sensi, I read your blog and have similar concerns. I don't recall a more upbeat offseason other than possibly 2003. Both the coaches and players have been upbeat. The only one that has seemed to try to lower expectations is the Chiz. This could get real interesting real fast if we don't win convincingly.
